I have the same problem with Gmail, and only with Gmail (I have a number of
email accounts on many different servers). It appears that it does not fully
respect the "leave email on server" request, and instead marks messages as
"read" as soon as one client (whether it's Outlook or K-9 that gets there
first) has read the message.

I've looked hard (and in vain) for any switch in Gmail that will make it
correspond to the normal expected behaviour. I think it's another case where
Google thinks that it knows best :-(

A: Top-posting.
Q: What is the most annoying thing in e-mail?

[k-9-mail] Re: Switch to Google Apps

2014-06-09 Thread mathguy
Okay. Something is going on between Outlook and K9. If I download a
message in Outlook, it won't come to K9. If I beat Outlook to it with K9,
then it won't download in Outlook. So, I suspect that it is a setting that
needs to be done in gmail. Even though that is a little outside the scope
of this forum, any clue as to what I need to do? Thanks.

[k-9-mail] Switch to Google Apps

2014-06-09 Thread mathguy
Okay, been using K9 for a long time. We recently decided to use google
apps for our email server, etc. So, we've set up a @domain.com server and
I'm now trying to set up that account on K9 rather than what I had. But,
I'm not having a lot of luck. I can get it to retrieve a new message but
then it suddenly disappears. And, it isn't downloading all of the messages
on the server. We are using gmail as a pop3 server and I access the same
account on my PC using Outlook. Had this working just fine with our old
dedicated domain so I know it can be done but I am missing something when
it comes to how gmail pop3 works.

Re: [k-9-mail] Re: Files too big to send are stuck in outbox, need to save the attachments. Any thoughts?

2014-06-09 Thread Lou Pollina
Thank you for your response. I tried your solution above to the "T". When
i change the storage to external SD storage, there does not seem to be a
delay while the files are moved. There is approx. 5 gig worth of large
files stuck in the out box. Most of the files are 358MB files. I look at
the external storage in the directory you suggest above. There are two
".db" files and two ".db_att" folders in the files folder. When i open the
1st "db_at" folder there is one file in it labeled 12 which is a 779 byte
file. After i convert this file to a MP4, i try to view it and i get an
error "Unable to play video" Sorry, this video cannot be plaid. The other
folder is empty.

I am pretty sure that this file is not any of the attachments for they are
all much larger. Now i have two out boxes in this account with no files
trying to be sent. I have rebooted the phone (arrow up, home, power on)
and still have 2 out boxes with both being empty. They seem to have
disappeared. I believe K9 froze in the middle of transferring the files
over. Screen turned black, it went to force stop, but i told it to wait.

I thank you for you response above and if the program did not freeze, it
probably would have worked just fine.
