Bug ID: 357607
   Summary: Crash at startup
   Product: plasmashell

Application: plasmashell (5.4.3)

Qt Version: 5.5.1
Operating System: Linux 4.1.13-5-default x86_64
Distribution: "openSUSE Leap 42.1 (x86_64)"

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:
I just logged in and it crashed! I am not sure if this is an error that is
because of the fglrx driver or not. Another thing I noticed is that kwin also
occasionaly crashes.

The crash can be reproduced every time.

That looks fishy, it should return the name of the configuration _file_,
not _directory_. Otherwise it can't work. I get this:

$ kreadconfig --file kgpgrc --group "GPG Settings" --key
"gpg_config_path"
/home/eike/.gnupg/gpg.conf

GIF images are very useful when you have to show few steps in a tutorial on a
web page (few seconds).

It would be very useful if kdenlive allows to render the video as an animated
gif

[kwin] [Bug 357605] Desktop grid should optionally merge all screens in one layout and clone the result across all screens

--- Comment #1 from Thomas Lübking  ---
Tbh, this is unlikely gonna be supported since it very quickly reaches its
limits, notably when there're more than two screens or generally the combined
aspect ratio runs "out of bounds".

Also you're wasting quite some screen estate, notably when presenting windows
in desktop grid.

On top of that this approach exposes windows on other screens (we frequently
get bug reports when this happens because the audience is confronted with
windows they're not supposed to see)

As the additional concept would add quite some (more) code complexity (lots of
branches and code doubling) to a class that already is overly complex, there's
probably much reluctance to add it as option, notably if the only pro of the
concept is "I'm used to it from unity" - sorry.

I just gave KDE PIM suite 4.14.10 under openSUSE 13.2 another try.

Had used the PIM suite in KDE3 for a long time but in the man time changed over
to some other tools since I found that PIM suite 4 was pretty instable and
unreliable. What I've seen now with 4.14.10 looks pretty well, but ...

I'm also using Owncloud as server, and have lots of contacts with categories
assigned. As mentioned earlier this works well with the Owncloud web interface,
Thunderbird with SOGO connector, and my Android smartphone with CalDAV sync.

Unfortunately, if I add my Ownlcoud address books to kaddressbook then the
categories are not imported and listed. In kaddressbook there is only one
predefined category, "birthday", and I can only try to add additional
categories manually.

However, even much worse, when I edit an existing contact and e.g. modify the
email address only then all categories are removed when the modified contact is
saved in Owncloud, so my contact list is really messed up. This is really a
showstopper for me.

Is it so hard to get this working properly and leave existing fields in the
carddav record at least untouched when the record is written back?

I thought that fglrx had to do sth with the bug and I reinstalled it.
Apparently I was wrong.

Since I have set to KDE to remember my session, the next thing I did was to
quit from Kontact application before logging off and on. This made it work
properly!

I suspect that since Kontact wants to use KWallet, and KWallet starts with a
"pop-up" dialog to ask for the code, it makes the plasma collapse. When I was
not running Kontact and there was no KWallet, everything went smooth as
expected.

[kmail2] [Bug 357606] New: All the mails from one of my contacts cannot be displayed

2016-01-06 Thread Éric Brunet via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=357606

Bug ID: 357606
   Summary: All the mails from one of my contacts cannot be
displayed
   Product: kmail2
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: eric.bru...@lps.ens.fr

I am using kmail 4.14.10 on an up-to-date fedora 23 linux machine.

One of my contacts are sending some mails (usually with attachments) which I am
enable to read. When I try to open their message in kmail, the headers are
correct (From:, To:, Date:) but the body of the message is replaced by the
following gibberish:
   N¬Æ¦º[b¥ªíë,j¢Âú+«
Furthermore, the message is marked as "No HTML" (it is actually HTML+Text) and
it doesn't see any attachment (there is one).

*) If I open the message on the web interface of my provider, everything works.
*) I can save the message locally from kmail with File->Save As into a .mbox
file. Then, I can
read the email and the attachment from the .mbox file with mutt
*) If I try to open the .mbox file from kmail, it still doesn't work.

It is very annoying and make kmail unusable for this particular contact.

I am attaching one of their emails to demonstrate the problem. What I actually
did was:
  1) I saved one of their email into bugreport.mbox
  2) I edited bugreport.mbox to replace all the names/addresses/Tel/etc with
X. I tried
  not to change the number of characters.
  3) similarly, IP addresses and numeric IDs have been replaced by strings of
1.
  4) I removed the attached .pdf (encoded in base64) and replaced it by another
dummy pdf
  5) I tried to recompute the values of the headers "Content-Length:" and
"Lines:" to account
  for the modified .pdf

This way, bugreport.mbox should not contain any sensitive information. I
checked that the resulting file could be viewed with mutt (including the
attachment) but not with kmail.

Reproducible: Always

[kdenlive] [Bug 357616] New: Add a way to select the region of the screen to record

2016-01-06 Thread xdmx via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=357616

Bug ID: 357616
   Summary: Add a way to select the region of the screen to record
   Product: kdenlive
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: User Interface
  Assignee: j...@kdenlive.org
  Reporter: x...@email.it

At the moment in the settings it's possible to set to record a region of the
screen, but it asks for the offset and size. I have no idea where is exactly
located the region I want to record and I don't event want to calculate it.

It'd be much better to have a way like spectacle/ksnapshot where you can click
a button and select the region on the screen, without having to enter any
manual number

Reproducible: Always

[kdevelop] [Bug 357615] New: C file parsed as a C++ file

2016-01-06 Thread Pedro Ferreira via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=357615

Bug ID: 357615
   Summary: C file parsed as a C++ file
   Product: kdevelop
   Version: git master
  Platform: Compiled Sources
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Language Support: CPP (Clang-based)
  Assignee: kdevelop-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: arkang...@gmail.com

The following simple valid C code yields errors on the parser:

typedef enum
{
Zero,
One
} blaaa;

static const blaaa b = 0 == 1;

Since "blaa b" cannot be initialised with a "bool" constant. This is valid C,
but not C++.
The IDE should use the file extension to change the source language type.

Reproducible: Always

I can reproduce it. It looks like the problem is in kcodecs.
UnicodeGroupProber::HandleData has this code:

if (4 >= aBuf[1] && aBuf[1] >= 0 && isprint(aBuf[0])) {

where isprint is a macro:

enum {
// non-relevant
CTYPE_PRINT  = 1 << 6,
// non-relevant
};
#define ctype_test(c, t) ((ctype_data[(unsigned short)c] & t) != 0)
#define isprint(c)  ctype_test((c), CTYPE_PRINT)

And sometimes aBuf contains negative values. So we got an out-of-bounds index
for ctype_data array: c is negative in "(unsigned short)c".

I don't know what to do with this, but I think it is a kcodecs bug.

the process is still running in the background. "Open with -> Kate" from
Dolphin for the second time doesn't make a Kate-Window to appear - just a
process in the background. After rebooting my system Kate opens many

I didn't kill by myself.

I have plasma-workspace 5.5.2

I have very similar problem. I have dual monitor setup, my notebook screen is
set as "primary" in systemsettings, and I have my panel there. When I connect
external monitor via DisplayPort, the panel moves from my notebook screen to my
external monitor. Why? This doesn't always happen, sometimes the panel stays on
my primary (notebook) screen as I want.

Also, when I unplug the external monitor, the panel seems to remain on it, and
it doesn't move back to my notebook screen, at least most of the time. It does
it very rarely.

it's probably not worth requesting the change - most developers are volunteers
and i am very grateful to them for all things kde.

there was also a reason for this feature to disappear - they now use qt more,
which reduces kde-specific code (read, less maintenance).

i'm not a programmer - but you mentioned that you are. maybe you can lend a
hand at implementing this feature in qt ?

I just sent the logfile. This is what I did.

I ran kreadconfig - which correctly told me what I already knew:
@HOME/.gnupg

I started kgpg from the command-line - which returned this message (twice):
QDBusConnection: session D-Bus connection created before QCoreApplication.
Application may misbehave.

Finally, I ran strace - of which I just sent the logfile.

I hope this is useful information for you guys who understand the intricacies
of KDE.

[plasmashell] [Bug 357609] New: Plasma 5 desktop hangs after exiting libreoffice writer

2016-01-06 Thread Vadym Krevs via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=357609

Bug ID: 357609
   Summary: Plasma 5 desktop hangs after exiting libreoffice
writer
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.5.2
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk
  Reporter: vkr...@yahoo.com
CC: bhus...@gmail.com, plasma-b...@kde.org

I've recently upgraded from openSUSE 13.2 to Leap 42.1 and installed the latest
KDE Frameworks/Applications from openSUSE OBS:
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Frameworks5/openSUSE_Leap_42.1/
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Applications/openSUSE_Leap_42.1/

My PC has an Nvidia card with proprietary drivers, and dual full HD monitors.

It appears that starting any LibreOffice application, maximizing it, then
restoring it, then exiting causes the plasma desktop to hang. The mouse cursor
is still visible, and responds to mouse movement, however plasma widgets,
panel, desktop no longer react to any mouse events. Ctrl-Esc and Alt-F2 don't
seem to do anything.

This behaviour is only observed when libreoffice is using the KDE integration
(libreoffice-kde4-5.0.2.2-1.2.x86_64). If it is uninstalled, then libreoffice
with GTK3 ui works just fine.

I've tried all the workarounds listed in
https://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php/511086-LibreOffice-5-freezes-system/
(like clearing libreoffice config directory, etc) to no avail.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start libreoffice writer, double click on the title bar to maximize, click
on the File menu
2. Double click on the title bar to un-maximize, click on the File menu again
3. Click on the Exit menu to quit.

Actual Results:
Plasma hangs and stops reacting to any mouse events.

Expected Results:
Plasma does not hang after exiting libreoffice writer.

Outputs of "ps -e f" after KDE startup, after libreoffice writer startup
(before the hang) and after libreoffice writer exit (after the hang) along with
contents of .xsession-errors are attached.

openSUSE Leap 42.1 with latest KDE Frameworks/Applications from openSUSE OBS.

I've set the volume of "Built-in Audio Alalog Stereo" playback device to 50%
via Audio Volume icon in the system tray . After a random time interval (around
a couple of minutes), it appears to be automatically reset to 100%. The
following gets added to .xsession-errors when it happens:

I have the same issue on Kubuntu 15.10.
When the system was up to date and the Update icon showed available updates, I
realized the following: I unchecked the Update icon in the System Tray Settings
and clicked Apply. Then I checked it again and clicked apply again. Now the
icon shows the correct status.

2016-01-06 Thread Kai Uwe Broulik via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=357532

--- Comment #7 from Kai Uwe Broulik ---
Could be that the animation is fired before the window is visible at which
point it fails to get an animation context and breaks. I've seen this
elsewhere, too. I think that's also the reason the busy indicator won't spin
(eg while connecting to wifi) right after Plasma startup. Looks like a Qt bug I
haven't managed to find a simple way to reproduce but in widget explorer a
workaround should be possible.

First off -- Thanks. :)

I've changed the setting to "longDuration=1" in "~/.config/plasmarc" and that
works well.

Visually, animation is "disabled", and widgets are now shown in the Explorer.

Win / Win - Animation for the (probable majority) who want it - No animation
for old farts like me.

Also marking this as release blocker.

There are some serious issues with the "default compiler flags" provided by our
Defines & Includes manager.

E.g.:
QString defaultArguments()
{
return {}; QStringLiteral("-ferror-limit=100 -fspell-checking
-Wdocumentation -Wunused-parameter -Wunreachable-code -Wall -std=c++11");
}

^ Leaks into *every* compiler invocation afaics. Shouldn't append -std=c++11
for C files, though.

[digikam] [Bug 357617] New: Batch rename fails when using custom file extensions

2016-01-06 Thread Larx via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=357617

Bug ID: 357617
   Summary: Batch rename fails when using custom file extensions
   Product: digikam
   Version: 4.14.0
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Advanced Rename
  Assignee: digikam-de...@kde.org
  Reporter: throwa...@online.de

I have added the extension "*.MTS" to the list of file extensions Digikam
recognizes. This is the video format my camera produces, named e.g. 01.MTS
and so on.

When I want to batch rename this files according to my usual schema
([date:"MMdd_hhmmss"].[ext]{upper}), the rename process stops at the first
file with this extension. It is renamed, however nevertheless an error message
" cannot be renamed" or " does not exist" (translated from
German, english messae may differ) pops up. I can start the rename process
again, then it will rename the next video file and fail after that.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a picture folder containing not only JPGs and so on, but also video
files with an extension not recognized by Digikam by default (e.g. *.MTS)
2. Do a batch rename with the format [date:"MMdd_hhmmss"].[ext]{upper} (F2
key)

Actual Results:
Failure as soon as the process hits the first file with the custom extension,
although this file is indeed renamed.

Expected Results:
All selected files are renamed, regardless of the extension.

Tried this both on local ext4/btrfs filesystem as on NFS mounts

It affects me too. I use the HDMI port on my Toshiba Satellite C855D with AMD
dual graphics (dedicated and integrated also on board) card in it using the
open source driver.
I reinforce the notice on cher...@aip.de adding that if I log in with the
secondary monitor formerly connected, the panel does not vanish on replace.
Only when I connect the monitor or change the settings after login.

[choqok] [Bug 357602] open or open then closed, causes lumina to reset with "out of swap space"

2016-01-06 Thread Andrea Scarpino via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=357602

--- Comment #3 from Andrea Scarpino  ---
Choqok could be the program that *trigger* this behaviour, but doesn't look
like a Choqok issue.

I mean, since you logged something about swap, *maybe* Choqok uses swap space
on your system and for some weird reason (to be investigated) when something
uses swap your system restarts.

Ah, wait, sorry. I know why. Animators do not like a duration of zero, hence
the breakage for you.

Sebas/Marco: I think we should have animation duration retur at least 1ms, no
matter what is set, to work around this, we have other places where we use
Animators bound to the units durations.

2016-01-06 Thread Steffen Hartmann via KDE Bugzilla

--- Comment #10 from Steffen Hartmann  ---
Hello Laurent,

Ok, I understand now it´s the way how the data came into kaddressbook that
causes the problem.

Unfortunatly I can´t reproduce how the data was passing over the years from one
server to the other. It was definitly stored on google, microsoft, owncloud and
my mobile phone. Maybe all contacts were copied with thunderbird in the past.
There were also cyclic system changes between windows, mac and linux in the
past.

Thank you however for your help.

regards,

Steffen

[skrooge] [Bug 357561] Starting skrooge freezes whatever was used to start it

2016-01-06 Thread Aqeel Zafar via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=357561

--- Comment #3 from Aqeel Zafar  ---
One thing I just noticed that I forgot to mention above, when the app is
closed, there is a dialog box "KDEInit could not find /usr/bin/skrooge", it
doesn't show up when the app is running. Clicking "OK" unfreezes the app.

Also, just tried running Skrooge from PCManFM, and it runs fine, so the issue
seems to be just with the KDE apps. Don't have any KDE4 apps installed so can't
check if the issue is with them too or just the new ones.

kwin_x11 processes, then I went back to Plasma at tty7 and everything went
normal (Plasma was unfreezed).

[krita] [Bug 357619] New: Crash when I move a layer and I want to undo the action.

2016-01-06 Thread via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=357619

Bug ID: 357619
   Summary: Crash when I move a layer and I want to undo the
action.
   Product: krita
   Version: 2.9.10
  Platform: unspecified
OS: MS Windows
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Tools
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: kjdavi...@gmail.com

Crash when I move a layer and I want to undo the action but the layer is
positioned somewhere else and it is not positioned how it was before.
This only happens when I undo for moving a layer but for the rest of the tools
is ok.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Click the Move a Layer Tool
2. Position the layer to the left or right
3. Undo (Ctrl + Z).

Actual Results:
The layer is positioned somewhere else instead of being in the last positioned.

Expected Results:
It should undo how the layer was positioned before.

The session crash triggers kactivitymanagerd irregular shut down, which in turn
exposes a known bug in QSQL https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=348194 .
Kactivitymanagerd can not crash the session.

I'd say it is a driver issue that kills x11 or something.
