[plasmashell] [Bug 359342] New: desktop crash after use of second screen
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=359342 Bug ID: 359342 Summary: desktop crash after use of second screen Product: plasmashell Version: 5.4.3 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Multi-screen support Assignee: aleix...@kde.org Reporter: axel.br...@gmx.de CC: plasma-b...@kde.org Desktop: Plasma 5.4.3 as shipped with openSUSE Leap Yesterday I gave a presentation and used a second screen for this. That causes various problems: - Although the Laptop screen was defined as primary screen, the application bar (kicker) appeared only on the second screen. Trying to change this did not help - Obviously the the window manager crashed, as the window decoration was gone suddenly (tried the change the output mode with Fn-F7 as well) - decoupled the second screen -> kicker did not come back - logged out and in again to get Window Manager working - kicker became only visible after the second screen was plugged in again - Used Fn-F7 to have same output on both screensso I survived the presentation. Anyway - as soon as 2nd screen unplugged, kicker was gone again - On the KDE configuration panel, the tab to set monitor resolution etc was gone - after log-off, I could not log in anymore with this user - KDE session hung during startup - removed everything from the user home directory that looked like temporary stuff (esp ~/.config/session), /tmp, /var/tmp ) and rebooted - could log in again with the user - new kicker panel had to be added nevertheless Reproducible: Always docb@T520:~> rpm -qa |grep plasma plasma-framework-private-5.16.0-3.1.x86_64 plasma-nm5-pptp-5.4.3-3.2.x86_64 python-kde4-plasma-4.14.3-2.11.x86_64 plasma5-session-5.4.3-3.1.noarch plasma5-workspace-lang-5.4.3-6.1.noarch plasma5-addons-5.4.3-3.1.x86_64 plasma-nm5-openvpn-5.4.3-3.2.x86_64 plasma-nm5-vpnc-5.4.3-3.2.x86_64 plasma5-workspace-libs-5.4.3-6.1.x86_64 plasma5-desktop-5.4.3-6.2.x86_64 plasma5-pk-updates-0.2-3.2.x86_64 plasma5-workspace-branding-openSUSE-13.2-26.1.x86_64 plasma-framework-5.16.0-3.1.x86_64 plasma5-addons-kimpanel-5.4.3-3.1.x86_64 plasma5-pa-5.4.3-3.1.x86_64 plasma-framework-lang-5.16.0-3.1.noarch plasma5-desktop-lang-5.4.3-6.2.noarch plasma5-addons-lang-5.4.3-3.1.noarch plasma5-pa-lang-5.4.3-3.1.noarch plasma-framework-components-5.16.0-3.1.x86_64 plasma5-desktop-branding-openSUSE-13.2-26.1.x86_64 patterns-openSUSE-kde_plasma-20150918-12.1.x86_64 plasma5-workspace-5.4.3-6.1.x86_64 plasma-nm5-5.4.3-3.2.x86_64 plasma-nm5-lang-5.4.3-3.2.noarch -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kwin] [Bug 344326] Black or corrupted screen on resume from suspend
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=344326 --- Comment #98 from Blucode--- I've found this talk mentioning a new nvidia driver that no longer has the suspend-to-RAM broken : https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topic/791786/linux/dpms-not-working-on-gtx980-with-displayport-connection/3 It's mainly about DPMS not working but STR as well in comments page 3. 352.63 (2015.11.16) : bug (I have this one) 358.16 (2015.11.20) : fixed (but no mention in changelog) I'll add a feedback here if I manage to get this version working for my distro: This would mean that the workaround can be removed from the KWin code to keep it clean and tidy. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=355441 --- Comment #9 from David Faure--- You assume one version number for everything KDE produces ;-) kdelibs is 4.14.x and stays that way. There is no "15.12" version numbering for kdelibs. 15.12 is an Applications release - which is based on kdelibs-4+Qt4 for some apps, and KF5+Qt5 for others. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[cantor] [Bug 312821] When using Sage Math, Cantor can't render equations entered via show() command and pops a LaTeX error instead.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=312821 --- Comment #9 from jackdyson31--- I have checked lines 183 of sageexpression.cpp in both the 0.5 (my current) and 0.6 versions of Cantor. The code is identical so I suspect the LaTeX might also be broken in newer versions of Cantor. I extracted a show(x^2) output from a sage 6.5 and a sage 7.0 notebook "worksheet.html" file: sage 7.0: *** {{{id=1| show(x^2) /// \newcommand{\Bold}[1]{\mathbf{#1}}x^{2} }}} {{{id=2| /// }}} as well as the output from sage 6.5 for the same file: sage 6.5 *** {{{id=1| show(x^2) /// \newcommand{\Bold}[1]{\mathbf{#1}}x^{2} }}} {{{id=2| /// }}} and they are identical. However sage 6.5 displays ok in Cantor 0.5 but when Cantor 0.5 runs sage 7.0, the output is as in my last post. Can anyone with more knowledge who sees this guide me a bit ? There were two separate crashes in total but I dismissed the first one's report by accident. After the dual-monitor screwup I've mentioned below happened, I deleted the panel and created a new one on the primary screen, which I've placed on the side - at this time the first crash occured. Decided to cycle through monitor positions via Fn+F7 once, the panel strangely remained on the primary screen. Did it again, and it hopped to the secondary again. Opening Application menu on the second screen afterwards resulted in a crash. - Unusual behavior I noticed: The panel behaviour at the very least in the OpenSUSE release of KDE Plasma 5 is all kinds of screwed up and I could probably file its quirks into a couple separate bug reports, but for the time being I guess I'll just mention them here. After pressing the aforementioned shortcut a few times (until the secondary monitor is the only one active), the panel mysteriously moves into the second monitor and stays there, all while I'm unable to move it back into the primary. The "screen edge dragging" feature can't move it inbetween the two screens, it only hides itself and is impossible to unhide until I repeat the whole procedure (after which it appears on the second monitor again). Placing the two screens in a way in which they share the panel edge only makes it hide itself permanently. Notably, while I haven't tried replicating the aforementioned crash, this issue is trivial to replicate. Another bizarre aspect of this behaviour happened when I've tried to restart the whole OS while the panel remained hidden this way - not only it stayed "hidden", but the Alt+F1 shortcut couldn't bring up the Application menu anymore, and I didn't connect to my wifi because KWallet didn't initialize to validate my wifi password. This glitch only subsided after cycling through screens again until the elusive panel (and KWallet with it) appeared again. One more panel quirk I've noticed is that on the specific width I've set for it, icon sizes sometimes don't remain constant between system startups, a few times they happened to shrink down and the bezels around them appeared thicker in size. This is harder to replicate however and so far was always preceded by me updating the system. An interesting thing of note is that I haven't seen this behaviour so far in the newest versions of distros Chakra or Linux Mint KDE (which had KDE4 however), which suggests that it could be actually somehow OpenSUSE specific? Nevertheless, a potentially effective workaround for this could be to be able to specify the panel's position via a menu or the konsole, instead of having to drag it. - Custom settings of the application: Vertically placed panel on the left edge of the screen, width was slightly reduced, two screens (positioned: smaller primary down, larger secondary up), Application menu instead of Application launcher, Icons-only task manager, Kwallet containing wifi password autolaunching at startup, Ksuperkey installed, on OpenSUSE Tumbleweed -- Backtrace: Application: Plasma (plasmashell), signal: Segmentation fault Using host libthread_db library "/lib64/libthread_db.so.1". [kmymoney4] [Bug 359341] Kmymoney crashes when i try to reconfigure aqbanking
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=359341 --- Comment #3 from Christian David--- Than probably the ABI of gwenhyfar or aqbanking changed (or something else causing an ABI incompatible change). KMyMoney from the repository was compiled with other versions than the ones you have installed (https://launchpad.net/~claydoh/+archive/ubuntu/kmymoney2-kde4 says 4.13.1 and 5.5.1 — about half a year older than your versions). If you compile aqbanking or gwenhywfar yourself you have to compile KMyMoney yourself as well (actually, not in any case but describing that would result in a very long text and no one with a right mind would check all points which were listed there). Please try recompile KMyMoney and see if the issue persists. If this is really an ABI incompatible change, I do not think there is much we can do about such bugs. The so version should prevent that kind of issues, unfortunately so versions are often set incorrectly (btw. also in KMyMoney). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kdeplasma-addons] [Bug 348591] System Load Viewer widget in panel can't show individual cores/cpus
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=348591 --- Comment #12 from Roland--- Sir - I would be overjoyed to have the original functionality back. But if you are rewriting it anyway, how about reflecting the frequency scaling in the calculation of the percentage displayed by the bar for each processor? So if you are running at 50% load at 50% of the max processor frequency, you would display 25%. The details shown in the fly-over pop-up box would be exactly the same. Why miss a chance to finally get the display as useful as possible? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[cantor] [Bug 348128] The sage backend does not starts with sage 6.7
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=348128 --- Comment #19 from mat...@dnet.it --- Jack, If you want to share your .deb, the best way would be to set up your own ppa... but I cannot help you with this, since I never tried. Thank you for spotting my mistype... as I said, I could not test on a real machine when I was writing. So good to have a fix for later reference. I am repeating the updated instructions below, including the updated patch for ease of reference: Instructions to patch cantor to fix this bug, starting from the source of the official cantor package (run these commands in a terminal): #make a temporary directory mkdir /tmp/cantor cd /tmp/cantor #download the source of your currently installed cantor package sudo apt-get install debian-keyring sudo apt-get source cantor #the above will create a subdirectory called "cantor-version-number-something" #in there you will find the directory "src" (i cant test right now, so you might have to look for it) #find and edit the file "src/backends/sage/sagesession.cpp" according to the submitted patch #which you can find here: https://quickgit.kde.org/?p=cantor.git=commitdiff=6586a64bc5ae9d385be68b8500aa6b273aab0c79=a94da3288f3cda78f9574aa2a7d753f4f70b5db0 #this patch is very simple: you only have to add "(?:Math)?" right after "Sage" on the right line #the "right line" is 197 for the latest cantor, but it might be some lines up or down in your version #now rebuild the package sudo apt-get install dpkg-dev sudo apt-get build-dep cantor cd "cantor-version-something" dpkg-buildpackage -b -us -uc cd .. #you should now have some debian packages #install the sage backend with sudo dpkg -i cantor-backend-sage*.deb Note that these instructions are only useful until the fix for this package will show up in the Ubuntu repositories (or if you are running an old version of cantor which will not be updated).
