[plasmashell] [Bug 356479] plasmashell uses 100% CPU when there is an animation in the task bar

2016-10-02 Thread Damian Kaczmarek via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=356479

Before it was only animated icons that were causing high cpu usage but now it
seems it's anything ... I'm watching a movie with mpv and then after half an
hour I see jitter and then `ps aux` confirms it's plasmashell. CPU usage is on
average 28% here but it jumps to 130% about every two seconds according to
`top`. And now I have confirmed it .. this cpu usage happens if either Skype or
Spotify are enabled so it leads me to believe it must be this SNI or XEmbed
integration that's somehow broken.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=369566

SIZE measures the amount of swap space a process would use if it were swapped
out entirely. So while this might include some shared memory, it would only
include it once per process, which isn't unreasonable for this report. It would
also not include mmapd pages unless they were anonymous mmaps not stored on
disk or used to access some other hardware, which are really no different than
mallocs and therefore should be included in every meaningful measurement.

If you'd prefer I use another measurement, which do you suggest? The other
alternatives all appear to be much less valid.

[kdenlive] [Bug 369659] kdenlive does not use ffmpeg if first started without ffmpeg being installed

2016-10-02 Thread Samuel via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=369659

For anybody encountering this dreaded error, either remove the config file
(~/.config/kdenliverc) and start fresh, or go to Settings, Configure Kdenlive,
Environment, and enter the full path to ffmpeg and other tools in there (for
ffmpeg, /usr/bin/ffmpeg should do). Save the settings.

[kdenlive] [Bug 369659] New: kdenlive does not use ffmpeg if first started without ffmpeg being installed

2016-10-02 Thread Samuel via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=369659

Bug ID: 369659
Summary: kdenlive does not use ffmpeg if first started without
ffmpeg being installed
   Product: kdenlive
   Version: 16.08.1
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Video Display & Export
  Assignee: j...@kdenlive.org
  Reporter: samuel+kde@dionne-riel.com

It seems kdenlive does not have an appropriate fallback when ffmpeg is not
installed at first run. The setting key `ffmpegpath` does not seem to resolve
to an installed ffmpeg instance even after a full close and start of the
application.

This is present in (at least) the extract zone job.
 - src/project/jobs/proxyclipjob.cpp

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
(Reproducibility: tricky to reproduce)

These steps assumes the developer does not want to remove ffmpeg to test, it
gives out the same result, but it has not been verified that it is the same
actual issue.

0. Remove the ffpmeg key from your ~/.config/kdenliverc file. Removing it from
the settings panel *does not have the same effect*.

1. Add a clip
2. Select an in and out point (optional?)
3. Right click the preview and select Extract Zone
4. Accept the options
5. Observe the warning label in the Project Bin (Failed to create file.)
6. Observe the stdout(err?) warning. (QIODevice::read (QProcess): device not
open)

Actual Results:
The process could not be started.

Expected Results:
Kdenlive should

A. When ffmpeg is not executable:
1. inform the user that ffmpeg could not be found, or try some known sane
defaults (/usr/bin/env ffmpeg ?)

B. The error output should be made available to the user, but not necessarily
all shown by default.

Everytime:
1. Print the whole command line it tried to execute from QProcess,
2. if the executable process is an empty string (not verified), print some kind
of warning? Use some kind of default?

The severity is kind of "Minor", but actually "Grave" for a user, even a power
user, since the error is actually opaque, and the dependency is actually
present.

(This was reported on behalf of another user, but verified and reproduced by
me.)

Double click is not part of the SNI spec.

PSI is using that to talk to the system tray.
If that is using double click, then that application has a bug.

Some guy on Reddit:

Hey, I found the root cause of this behaviour:
If you launch System Settings >> Workspace >> Window Management >> Window
Behaviour >> Window Actions
and change the "Left button" action from "Activate, Raise & Pass Click" to just
"Activate"
then you can no longer reproduce this issue.
I've been clicking around like mad for the last 5 minutes and I can't reproduce
it all when it is set to "Activate". If I set it back to "Activate, Raise &
Pass Click", I can reproduce it straight away.
Further tests show that when "Left button" is set to:
Activate, Raise & Pass Click - Issue present (default value)
Activate & Pass Click - Issue not present
Activate - Issue not present
Activate & Raise - Issue present
So the issue is related to how the "Raise" part of the action is being handled.
I think the "Raise" message is being sent to the wrong

[plasmashell] [Bug 369658] New: Different windows from same app show icon defined in .desktop file instead of app-specified icon

2016-10-02 Thread JanKusanagi via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=369658

Bug ID: 369658
Summary: Different windows from same app show icon defined in
.desktop file instead of app-specified icon
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.8.0
  Platform: Mageia RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Task Manager
  Assignee: h...@kde.org
  Reporter: jan-b...@gmx.co.uk
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org

If you run a multi-window program, or multiple instances of the same program,
like Konqueror for instance, each window might have a different "window icon",
visible to the left of the title bar.

In the specific case of Konqueror, the icon will be a sort of sheet icon with
the "favicon" icon for the current page painted over a portion of the sheet.
That same icon is used in the application switcher (alt+tab), although that
depends on the type of switcher you're using of course. I'm using
"informative".

The problem here is that while the switcher uses the correct icons, the task
manager shows always the application icon as defined in the .desktop file for
the application. In the case of Konqueror, that's Konqueror's icon, the planet
with the gear around it. So 3 different Konqueror windows look the same,
icon-wise, in the taskbar, but they're different (which I find nice) in the
application switcher.

Another example would be the Psi Jabber/XMPP client, which shows different
icons for individual chats, groupchats, and the main window. Under Plasma 5,
all windows show the same icon, the "Psi" logo.

I've verified that this does not happen if the program doesn't have a .desktop
file. I've also found mention of this being expected in a pseudo-related
bugreport: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=365355#c3

Both of the examples I gave are Qt4-based, but for the record, a program of
mine, built with Qt 5, suffers from the same issue.

So, to sum up:
Using the icon specified in the .desktop file could be nice for windows that
don't set an icon (instead of that generic "X11 icon", but I'd say that, if a
window specifies which icon it wants, the task manager should use that one,
like the application (task) switcher.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open 2 Konqueror windows.
2. Load http://www.mageia.org/en/ in one window and http://planet.debian.org/
on the other.

Actual Results:
Both Konqueror windows show the Konqueror icon in the taskbar, the planet with
the gear around it.

Expected Results:
One Konqueror window should show with an icon that's a paper sheet with a
planet inside, and a Mageia logo (mageia.org's favicon) in a corner. The other
window should use a similar icon, but with Debian's logo.

2016-10-02 Thread Christopher Yeleighton via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=369657

Bug ID: 369657
Summary: XMP subject matter code can be added twice
   Product: digikam
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Metadata
  Assignee: digikam-de...@kde.org
  Reporter: giecr...@stegny.2a.pl

The same XMP subject matter code can be added twice to the same image; if this
happens, the subject list contains a spurious entry .

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Add XMP standard subject matter code 0100 to an image.
2. Add the same subject matter code once more.

Actual Results:
2. The subject matter list contains:
XMP:0100:arts, culture and entertainment::

Expected Results:
2. It should not be possible; standard codes already attached to the image
should be disabled.

reference. I have updated it more to my liking, so feel free to take it if you
like it too. Also, one instance of XMPP landed on the page on its way to

when I open the document again, it can recover the text perfectly, no data is
lost. Neverytheless, for me it is somehow fucking annoying every time to stop
typing, take the mouse and click the file again. It was a simple text file,
quite short, in Russian. God will bless you guys.

The crash can be reproduced every time.

Created attachment 101380

Patch

It is basically happening with every application, but might be depending on the
specific screen setup.

I have two monitors, where the height of monitor one is greater than height of
monitor 2. In addition monitor 2 has a vertical offset and is positioned right
of monitor 1. So the titlebar of an application with full height on monitor
will disappear on monitor 2 if the window is just shifted horizontally.

The patch resolves this issue for me. However, I don't fully understand the
purpose of the heuristic that is applied at that point, so it might screw thing
up.

[kdenlive] [Bug 369653] New: Parole and other media players will not autoplay saved mp4 video files after rendering.

2016-10-02 Thread Phillip Sear via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=369653

Bug ID: 369653
Summary: Parole and other media players will not autoplay saved
mp4 video files after rendering.
   Product: kdenlive
   Version: 16.08.1
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
   URL: https://eu.storagemadeeasy.com/files/3cef14a0df81f8a60
03070d09ec64d64.jpg
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Video Display & Export
  Assignee: j...@kdenlive.org
  Reporter: pccs...@gmail.com

The autoplay seems to create a playlist which splits up the filename of the
newly created video, as shown in the picture. I have to manually load the
video file into the media player to play it. This seems to be a problem
introduced in 16.08 - I had no problems with previous version of Kdenlive.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a project, then: Render project > More options > Play after Render
2. You will then find that it will not autoplay, as shown in the illustration
UEL.
3.

Actual Results:
See the URL above

Expected Results:
File open in Parole and starts to play.

Hi all!

I was on my way to create on new bug report, but I think I am faceting the same
issue as Pascal.

First:
I am running a Ubuntu Studio 16.04 up to date.

I updated kdenlive from your PPA:
Kdenlive:
Version: 16.08.1
Using:
KDE Frameworks 5.18.0
Qt 5.5.1 (built against 5.5.1)
The xcb windowing system

I can reproduce the following issue:
I add 2 clips on a brand new project, then add a transition, when I click on
preview => kdenlive crashes.
As Pascal , the rendering stops when the transition came without crash . When I
remove the transition the rendering is good until the end.

I also reproduced this issue on 2 differents computer (one using a virtualbox).

Always reproductible except some transitions:

diaporama: ok
affine : ok
transition par balayage : ok
dissoudre: ok

I ran kdenlive with gdb and got the following stack traces:

[dolphin] [Bug 367759] System occasionally unable to suspend if Dolphin left running with sshfs folder open

2016-10-02 Thread Bob Wya via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=367759

I've got a systemd sleep script to stop and then restart my sshfs mount unit.
This used to work more cleanly - but I believe a few months ago systemd was
made atomic during a critical stage of the suspend process (not sure what
version that was now). NFS mountpoints are similarly affected.

[kmail2] [Bug 369650] New: Account Wizard glitches when trying to add Gmail account

2016-10-02 Thread Jesse via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=369650

Bug ID: 369650
Summary: Account Wizard glitches when trying to add Gmail
account
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 5.1.3
  Platform: Kubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: UI
  Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: jesse.dub...@gmail.com

After I add my gmail info', select the IMAP protocol and click next, the
Account Wizard VERY briefly shows a different text, but then flashes right back
to the previous window I was on -- the one where I select IMAP or POP. Clicking
Next continues to produce the same results, and the wizard doesn't allow me to
continue.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. in Kmail, go to Tools > Account Wizard
2. Put in your Full name, gmail account and password, then click Next. (Make
sure "Find Provider settings on the Internet" is enabled)
3. Make sure IMAP account is enabled, then click Next.

Actual Results:
The wizard briefly shows another window, then goes back to the one where I
select POP or IMAP. Wizard won't allow me to finish because of this glitch.

Expected Results:
For the wizard to continue and finish importing my gmail account into Kmail for
accessing and managing of my gmail account e-mails.

Bug discovered while using:
Kmail 5.1.3
Kubuntu 16.10 beta 2 x64
KDE Plasma 5.7.2
KDE Frameworks 5.26.0 (Kmail says its using KDE Frameworks 5.24.0)

@Wegwerf, definitely, I could see a small improvement in framerate playback
when switching to Preview vs High Quality. But I didn't see any differences,
visually, in playback. Maybe I need to

If that's the case that #2 needs to stay, maybe we need to find a way to make
the user more easily educated about its purpose & function, you know? The
thumbnail images next to each option in the dropdown box suggests, to me, that
it adjusts the quality of what's being seen on the monitor to improve real-time
playback in the timeline vs. seeing what the final quality render output will
look like. I realize that the tooltip text says "Track Compositing"... but I
don't know if that gives it away on first read.

Having a folder containing /s in its name tries to open it as a subdirectory

Dont do #2, as this messes up some existing projects. It's necessary in certain
projects to switch off any implicit/internally-added transitions. Also, I
regularly switch off timeline compositing as I need close, explicit control
over all compositing in the timeline.

Also, there are rendering/performance differences.

[dolphin] [Bug 369647] New: Copy or move operations to encfs folders in a NTFS filesystem show 'could not change permissions for '

2016-10-02 Thread João Vidal da Silva via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=369647

Bug ID: 369647
Summary: Copy or move operations to encfs folders in a NTFS
filesystem show 'could not change permissions for
'
   Product: dolphin
   Version: 16.08.1
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: joao.vidal.si...@gmail.com

Copying or moving files to an encfs folder in a NTFS filesystem/partiton will
show the message 'could not change permissions for '.
It doesn't happen if the operation is done directly to NTFS.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create/mount a decrypted encs folder in a NTFS partition
2. Copy or move a file to that folder
3. A popup title 'Information - Dolphin' will appear and show the message
'could not change permissions for '

It's a popup per file and great clicking experience.
See also bug reports 196042 and 206500. (I don't know how to create links here,
sorry)

[kmail2] [Bug 334409] Drag and drop to a shell doesn't work for multiple files

2016-10-02 Thread davidblunkett via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=334409

I think this bug (can't dnd multiple attachments) will remain once the current
issue of broken attachments is fixed. I think the broken attachments is known
(I don't know the bug #) and fixed upstream. I can't vouch for any of this one
way or the other at the moment.

At the moment:

I can't dnd any files multiple or single
I can't see any files inline

D+D of files is a long established feature so i think it remains a valid bug.

[kdenlive] [Bug 361360] git master (re-opened) - playback speed/framerate slows WAY down when using video clips in multiple tracks in timeline (video example included)

2016-10-02 Thread Jesse via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=361360

I'd like to come to a group consensus on what it would look like to have this
issue resolved, and maybe use this as a roadmap towards fixing this bug:

(1) Have multiple clips in timeline stacked on top of each other and still play
through timeline in real time without drop in framerate (this is, of course, in
reference to a simple edit where the clips have no effects/transitions on
them).
(2) Remove the new track compositing dropdown box (as it would be unnecessary
at that point, and I think its existence is going to be confusing to most users
as it is. There's no visual different in quality between the three in the
monitors.)

Can we agree that this would be an appropriate resolution/goal to fix this bug?

[dolphin] [Bug 369646] New: The 'free' menu in Dolphin's status bar incorrectly lists KDE Partition Manager as not installed

2016-10-02 Thread João Vidal da Silva via KDE Bugzilla

Bug ID: 369646
Summary: The 'free' menu in Dolphin's status bar incorrectly
lists KDE Partition Manager as not installed
   Product: dolphin
   Version: 16.08.1
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: bars: status
  Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: joao.vidal.si...@gmail.com

I just recently (and by accident) found the nice feature of disk and device
usage statistics present in Dolphin.
The 'free' word in Dolphin's status bar gives access to this feature and also
lists a series of gui partition managers, showing all as not installed. But, in
my case, KDE Partition Manager is installed.
This bug doesn't really bug me.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Dolphin
2. Left-click the 'free' word in the bottom right of the status bar to popup
the menu
3. Move the mouse over to 'More'
4. KDE Partition Manager is listed as not installed even when it is

I use an autostart-script to run a tabs-from-file setup.

I get the same behavior: desktop menu or Alt-F2 launch include the
tabs-from-file tabs, plus a "normal" bash tab at the end.

Using an existing konsole window's File->New Window option does *not* clone all
the tabs, but starts normally.

I have not seen the crash.

[kate] [Bug 333577] QSaveFile: kate changes file owner

2016-10-02 Thread Dominik Haumann via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=333577

Hi Friedrich,

yes, a possible way is to fix it in Kate::TextBuffer.

Having talked to dfaure about it, we already came to the conclusion that it
should be fixed in Qt: Since QSaveFile already has a function called
directWriteFallback(), it is the correct way to extend the checks to fallback t
a direct write in case of the mentioned corner cases.

While a workaround in Kate::TextBuffer would of course improve the situation,
the proper fix is definitely in QSaveFile.
