[extra-cmake-modules] [Bug 373175] New: _XOPEN_SOURCE needs to be defined when using -std=iso9899:1990

2016-12-01 Thread awilfox
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=373175

Bug ID: 373175
Summary: _XOPEN_SOURCE needs to be defined when using
-std=iso9899:1990
   Product: extra-cmake-modules
   Version: 5.28.0
  Platform: Compiled Sources
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: alex.me...@kde.org
  Reporter: awil...@adelielinux.org

  Target Milestone: ---

KDECompilerSettings: Ensure POSIX correctness

When building on non-glibc Unix platforms, such as Solaris, NetBSD, and
Linux/musl or Linux/uclibc, multiple components of KF5 fail to build. This is
because -std=iso9899:1990 is specified (for strict C90 compliance) but
_XOPEN_SOURCE is not defined, so none of the POSIX interfaces are exported. I
have seen this reported in at least:

* kscreenlocker
* plasma-workspace

The attached patch resolves this issue on all our build boxes; additionally,
applying it to my glibc builder did not change the already working result.

This issue seems to be much broader than just the reference docker. Clicking
on almost any UI element (tool buttons, layer docker items, etc.) prevents
certain tool switching until you click the canvas once. Tested by choosing
different tools from the toolbar and trying to use pan, clicking a layer
(Layers panel), or any setting in a panel.

 Component: general
  Assignee: kdevelop-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: d...@outlook.com
  Target Milestone: ---

It's really hard to start developing with KDevelop and Kubuntu 16...

On installing the KDevelop package I get a load of errors chucked up about
missing project management plugins.

Then, I can't save to a directory because KDevelop is too stupid to create a
missing directory in the path.

Finally, even though g++ and make are installed, KDevelop is too stupid to try
and automatically add a C++ compiler, so all the options I have are debug a
compiled binary or a plasmoid!!!

Visual Studio Community works out of the box; why doesn't KDevelop?

If you want to get more contributors to the project - which is something I
wanted to do - you need to make it easier TO START DEVELOPMENT!

[akregator] [Bug 373169] New: Regression: Ability to not see read messages is gone

2016-12-01 Thread Tom Littauer
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=373169

Bug ID: 373169
Summary: Regression: Ability to not see read messages is gone
   Product: akregator
   Version: 5.3.0
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Keywords: regression
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: akonadi-port
  Assignee: osterf...@kde.org
  Reporter: k...@littauer.com
  Target Milestone: ---

This is in freshly installed OpenSuSE LEAP 42.2

Previous versions of Akregator has a combo box that allowed the user to elect
to see all messages or just the ones that haven't been read yet.

This combo box seems to be missing.

Am I just not seeing it or is it really gone?

I used the option to quickly scan messages and then come back later in the day
or week when I have time to read. Yes, you flag unread messages with a
different color but with busy feeds it's not efficient to scroll through
looking for a different color.

Lack of the option is a deal breaker for my use of the product.

OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor

  Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org

I have a folder with ~200k text files inside, call it data/. When I am in the
parent directory and I hover over the data/ directory with a mouse,
dolphin freezes for ~5 second, before being operational again. If I hover again
after that, nothing happens. I understand that it takes some to list all the
files when entering the data/ directory, but accidetially hovering over it when
trying to open a different folder and having to wait for 5 seconds is somewhat
annoying.

For whatever reason Spectacle uses the plain Qt file picker when Saving As and

You're right, that does work.

However, I'd like the same style of sorting with the "Activity By Date,

For now, this is an improvement.

I have configured (in systemsettings) may keybaord to use the layout "German
(no dead keys)". However, when I reboot my system, the wrong keybaord layout
is used: It uses the default German keyboard layout, enabling dead keys.

I can "fix" this for the USB keybaord by unplugging and replugging it, but then
the internal keyboard of the laptop will keep using the wrong layout.
Alternatively, I can switch the layout back and forth with the keyboard layout
status indicator; that will fix things for all keyboards.

But of course, the correct layout should already be applied on login.

Yes. There is no indication as to where the images will actually be dropped. I
would expect a background shading or border around the drop target while
hovering over each target so you can see where images will be copied / moved
before you release the mouse button.

[dolphin] [Bug 373162] New: Terminal Panel crash with zsh

2016-12-01 Thread Olivier BELLEUX
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=373162

Bug ID: 373162
Summary: Terminal Panel crash with zsh
   Product: dolphin
   Version: 16.08.3
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: panels: terminal
  Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: o.g.m.bell...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Hello,

I use openSUSE 42.2 with Plasma 5.8.3, Dolphin 16.08.3 and Konsole 16.08.3 (
KDE Frameworks 5.26.0 Qt 5.6.1 The xcb windowing system) and zsh 5.0.5
(x86_64-suse-linux-gnu) as the default shell (login shell)

When I open a terminal panel in dolphin it opens and closes instantly; The
terminal displays:
Cd / home / olivier / dir ...
^ @ Clear
^ @

The prompt does not appear.

I have no problems in kate Krusader Yakuake or Konsole but the first three do
not take my konsole default profile into account and create their own in ~ /
.local / share / konsole.

I tried using Bash as login shell and there is more problem!

I think that something crashes in konsolepart and Dolphin with Zsh but I do not
know what this can be ... in any case not my zshrc because I saved it in zshrc
~ and logout login without any effect.

Thank you for your great jobs

Olivier BELLEUX

Thats correct, its a feature which has been lost during 5.x development, not an

The system that I experienced my most recent crash on is used as a buildbox and
was building Firefox when the crash happened. System load was high and my wait
time was low; I hit Alt+F4 and immediately Alt+D to 'D'iscard the unsaved
changes in KWrite. I'm not sure the dialogue even popped.

I'm not running -HEAD, but I am running Phonon-VLC as well - version 0.9.0

I have ugraded KMail 4.14.10 to 5.3.0 in the context of system upgrade to Leap
42.2
I have a couple of Newsletters I use to read in HTML.
The mail addresses are in the addressbook, loading external content is enabled,
and the default display mode is HTML.
That worked nicely in Leap 42.1./KMail 4.14.10
After upgrade to 42.2 /KMail 5.3.0 it does not work any longer. I checked all
settings but no change compared to before.
When right-click on the address and add 'load external content' it adds the
Email *again* to the addressbok - Email address is now 3 times in address-book
(but still has no impact).
Settings (display and load) cant be maintained in addressbook
(dependency/package missing?)

[konsole] [Bug 367882] FileFilter implementation cause konsole cpu usage to go to 80-100%

2016-12-01 Thread Alexander
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=367882

Alexander changed:

Created attachment 102564
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=102564&action=edit
Program, that illustrates regexp slowness on complex regexps

I found a good test case when FileFilter causes consuming a lot of CPU:
echo
'/'

And move the mouse inside the window.

The big regular expression is formed from mimeDatabase.allMimeTypes(). If you
have more than 1000 mime types registered (it is 992 in default Kubuntu 16.10
installation) the pcre jit compiler generates very slow code.

I created small python program to illustrate this behaviour.

$ python3 slow_regexp.py
1000 in 0.08 sec
1001 in 4.62 sec

The constant 1000 is rec_limit in pcre_compile.c:
http://vcs.pcre.org/pcre/code/trunk/pcre_compile.c?view=markup

It seems, that other mechanism than mimeDatabase.allMimeTypes() is needed to
create the regexp.

We can close this bug. BQM is not for the simple renaming of images. On the
other hand, it is also possible to overwrite the original image so that no copy
is made.

Thanks for the quick response. After thinking about it, I believe the file mode
options should be

- Copy single picture: QFileDialog::AnyFile (in case the user wants to rename
the copied picture, defaulted to the original file name)
- Copy multiple pictures: QFileDialog::Directory

I can confirm this on openSUSE LEAP 42.2, too.

I also found this comment in forums:
https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=215&t=136652
there are alos screenshots attached.

This problem makes KMail pretty much unusable with high DPI. Not only is the
font too smal, but also the mouseclicks don't end up correctly. It's hard to
show in a picture, but should be pretty easy to reproduce.

[kdevelop] [Bug 373156] New: Allow build targets to be specified per project item.

2016-12-01 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=373156

Bug ID: 373156
Summary: Allow build targets to be specified per project item.
   Product: kdevelop
   Version: 5.0.1
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: all build tools
  Assignee: kdevelop-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: bunge...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

I'm currently creating a IBuildSystemManager for GN project.json files. See
https://chromium.googlesource.com/chromium/src/+/master/tools/gn/docs/reference.md#Generic-JSON-Output
for some details (this is the build system being used by Chromium). Because GN
supports multiple toolchains in a single build it is not possible to always
create phony rules with the expected names, so the only way to ensure that one
is building the correct thing is to use the full non-phony ninja target name
when building.

One of the issues I'm running into because of this is that the current ninja
builder (like the other builders) really wants to use the 'text()' or 'path()'
of project items directly as ninja targets to use. This can be exceedingly
awkward since full non-phony target names must be used as the user visible
names in the project view and makes it basically impossible to build source
files (the UI doesn't directly allow it, but adding them to the 'Build
Sequence' works, but then the file path isn't what ninja expects because it's
been made absolute).

It would be much more flexible if the IBuildSystemManager had two additional
methods like

bool IBuildSystemManager::isBuildable(KDevelop::ProjectBaseItem* item)

which would return 'true' if the UI should allow building this item (and it
could return true for ProjectFileItems in particular). Then

QSet IBuildSystemManager::buildTargets(KDevelop::ProjectBaseItem*
item)

which would actually calculate and return which targets should be built for the
given item. This approach isn't very different from how
IBuildSystemManager::includeDirectories and IBuildSystemManager::defines
currently work except for actual building instead of parsing.

The alternative of putting the target names on the items themselves seems a bit
iffy, since the items themselves shouldn't necessarily know which builder
they're building with. Presumably the IBuildSystemManager should be the only
one who knows which build system is being used. This also would somewhat
preclude lower level items from actually building parent items if that's the
only realistic way to do so. (Also like includes and defines not being on the
items themselves.)

My current work arounds are to create a rather ugly project model (with rather
strange trade offs) or copy-paste the ninja builder into a new builder plugin
just to replace kdevninjabuilderplugin.cpp#argumentsForItem to provide the
answers I already have from the project.json file gn created.

I'm willing to work on this issue, but before starting it would be nice to know
if this would be a generally acceptable approach or if some other approach
would be better.

You're right, so OK, no external browser.

In my personnal opinion, any platform that lives with outdated QT
can tolerate living with outdated trojita : trojita may dump Qtwebkit.

But Trojita should turn to any of QTextBrowser/Qtwebengine for security.

[krunner] [Bug 373154] New: In a keyboard-only interaction, krunner will frequently pick the item that appears below the cursor

2016-12-01 Thread Ralf Jung
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=373154

Bug ID: 373154
Summary: In a keyboard-only interaction, krunner will
frequently pick the item that appears below the cursor
   Product: krunner
   Version: 5.8.2
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: k...@privat.broulik.de
  Reporter: p...@ralfj.de
  Target Milestone: ---

Steps to reproduce:

* Have your mouse cursor roughly in the center of your screen, in the area
where the krunner dialog will expand to when it finds sufficiently many hits.
* Trigger krunner via the keyboard and enter a term. (For me, this happens e.g.
with "kwallet" and "firefox")

Expected behavior:

As long as I don't move the mouse, I expect krunner to entire ignore the
cursor. I like to start e.g. the KWalletManager by typing "WIN-r k w a l
ENTER" without any noticeable pauses. I *know* kwalletmanager is the first
thing to appear on the query "kwal" (and Win-R is my shortcut for KRunner), to
this should always work.

Actual behavior:

Sometimes, the item under the mouse is selected even though the mouse did not
move. This seems to depend on how quickly the contents are loaded. Typing
another key usually fixes this, but when I quickly enter a query and hit ENTER,
it's already too late -- some random document has already been opened. This is
pretty frustrating.

[plasmashell] [Bug 373153] New: Closing windows in grouped task manager entry leads to mixed-up menu

2016-12-01 Thread Ralf Jung

OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED

  Priority: NOR
 Component: Task Manager
  Assignee: h...@kde.org
  Reporter: p...@ralfj.de
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: 1.0

Created attachment 102563
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=102563&action=edit
A screenshot demonstrating the issue

Steps to reproduce:

* Have at least 3 windows in a group.
* Left-click that group
* Right-click a window in that group and select "Close"

Expected behavior:

* The window closed and disappears from the group, and nothing else happens

Actual behavior:

* Another window can start showing up in the group -- even windows that are not
usually shown, e.g. "plasma". I will attach a screenshot demonstrating this.

This is not entirely reproducible because it seems to depend on the exact state
of the task manager, i.e. how many groups of which size are presented in which
order. Still, it happens frequently for me. Having more windows grouped
increases the likelihood of seeing this.
