attachment 1 - showing config of left/right windows that is lost on restart

Version 5.0.97
KDE Frameworks 5.29.0
Qt 5.7.1 (built against 5.7.1)
The xcb windowing system

When setting konqueror to provide the traditional left (folder) / right (file
detail) view, changes to the additional information shown in the left (folder)
or right (file detail) windows does not stay set and is not saved in the File
-> Session -> Save As, settings.

When setting konqueror to look/behave in its traditional (kfmclient Profile
filemanagement) or (konqueror --profile filemanagement) configuration, I
display the folder list "locked" in the left pane and I want to turn off all
"additional information" (all you care about in the navigation pane is the
folders). However, I should be able to display the 'size', 'type', or 'date' in
the right window and have that setting be persistent between sessions. After
configuring to my liking, closing konqueror and restarting and choosing my
saved session, does not restore the additional information in only the right
side.

What happens is all additional information is either 'completely gone in both
windows' (if I was turning off the unwanted 'size', 'date', etc in the left
(folder) pane, or the additional information is present in both 'left/right'
windows (if I last enabled 'size', 'date', etc. in the right windows).

This is frustrating as heck to take the time to pick though the setting to
configure konqueror so that it provides the functionality that was provided by
default setting in the past only to have konqueror lose the setting on restart
or on minimize/restore.

Attachment 1 shows the way I configure konqueror and save the session. When
konqueror is restarted, either 'size', 'date' will be shown in both sides, or
will be missing from both sides. This must be fixed.

I understand how to do it using the main view, but I do not understand
why a menu entry on the tag behaves this way. If there was an export
entry in the context menu on a item in the main view, this behaviour
would be expected. However for export on a tag I would expect that
export applies to this tag, i.e. the tag album. If this behaviour is not
desirable, then this option should either be removed or transferred to
the context menu in the main view. To me it makes no sense to select
images in the main view, then right click the tag in the left sidebar
and select an export tool to export all selected images. I would either
use the top menu bar or right click on one of the selected items in the
main view.

Regarding the issue with "Find Duplicates": The correct tags are actually set,
but for some reason the check whether this selection is valid
(FindDuplicatesView::slotCheckForValidSettings) is false and thus "Tags" is not

[digikam] [Bug 374191] New: Unusable context menu entries in tags view

2016-12-26 Thread Simon
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=374191

Bug ID: 374191
Summary: Unusable context menu entries in tags view
   Product: digikam
   Version: 5.4.0
  Platform: Appimage
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal

 Component: general
  Assignee: digikam-de...@kde.org
  Reporter: freisi...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

There are some entries in the context menu of tags in the tags view of the left
sidebar that are either not working properly or do nothing.

"Find Duplicates" switches to the "Duplicates" rider of the "Fuzzy" tab as
expected, but does not select the tags previously selected to be searched. This
should probably be fixed.

"Export" only sends the currently selected item in the main view to the export
tool. If this is at all useful, it should send all items belonging to the
selected tag(s) to the export tool. Or maybe this should just be removed from
this context menu and export goes over selected items in main view and the top
menu bar.

The submenu of "Batch Process" contains only a grayed out entry "No batch
process plugins available". What is this submenu supposed to do?

[ksmserver] [Bug 374189] New: Strange behaviour occurs when my new television is connected via HDMI

2016-12-26 Thread Xavion
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=374189

Bug ID: 374189
Summary: Strange behaviour occurs when my new television is
connected via HDMI
   Product: ksmserver
   Version: 5.8.4
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: l.lu...@kde.org
  Reporter: xavio...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

I connect my television to the computer via HDMI, while my desktop monitor is
attached via a DVI cable. This allows me to have them both operational at the
same time. I'm sure many other people have a similar arrangement.

My previous (generic-branded) television gave up the ghost recently, so I had
to buy a new one. KDE had no problems with the former, whereas the latter
(Toshiba 40L3650) unfortunately wreaks havoc while logging in and with the lock
screen.
* https://toshibatv-ap.com/sg/en/models/40l3650/

Specifically, the KDE-launching process takes much longer than usual. I
occasionally get a dialog box to say that 'ksmserver' has failed altogether.
KDE then works normally, until I (eventually) get to the lock screen.

The problem there is that the password field is unable to receive the focus.
Clicking on it, or trying to tab my way to it, has no effect. This means I
can't enter my password to unlock the system!

My only option then is to switch to another terminal and kill the lock screen
manually. To get around the problem, I've been using good old 'xlock'. It's
far from sexy (by modern standards) but will do for the moment.

If I turn the TV off or unplug the cable, both problems go away. I know it's
not X11-related, as LXDE logs in instantly with both screens active.
Furthermore, there's nothing unusual going on in the X11 log files.

FYI, it doesn't matter what 'kscreen' settings I use. Whether the outputs are
unified or not makes no difference to 'ksmserver'. Should I be setting some
specific monitor settings for the new TV in my X11 configuration file?

I still see all the tags applied to the whole picture when I select people tags
and one of my names which I have tagged.

So under the part of the picture with Gilles Caulier , Andreas would be shown
as the first tag if Andreas also was on the picture and face tagged as Andreas
is before Gilles in the alphabet.

Thanks

I added vob as MIME type and it works perfectly, as far as I uderstand it will
also be included as default in the future. Superb, and thanks again.

Thanks Maik.

If I understand correctly you make the change of mime types default for all
users, whereas Gilles Caullier showed me how to configure it in my current
installation.

I am impressed by the quick responses.

For now I have added a minor patch to my port that forces the Fusion

being included with Qt on all platforms.
(The scrollbars are a bit too fat but apart from that the style looks
surprisingly good, in fact.)

Kxmlgui installs ui_standards.rc into /etc/xdg/ui/ui_standards.rc
and uses QStandardPaths::locate(QStandardPaths::GenericConfigLocation,
QStringLiteral("ui/ui_standards.rc")) which is resolved on linux to
"/etc/xdg/ui/ui_standards.rc" and on windows to
"C:/Users//AppData/Local/ui/ui_standards.rc" or

You sir are a genius! Solved it for me.

Of course, I still believe this bug should be looked into... Especially since

- What I was doing when the application crashed: opening a .doc file with lock
override. About 10 minutes after a full restart and with the system running
cleanly, attempted to open a file; the file had been locked previously (about1
year ago) and I had to to override the lock. LibreOffice opened the file
normally but Baloo crashed immediately.

In my setup it does :-)

That might have happened too :-)

I just hit a similar crash (also with the doing pep8 checking and invalid pep8
error line message) editing a different file. Opening the file again lead to a
crash, but after deleting the cache, the crash went away...
and starting kdevelop again fixed it.

That is weird. It crashed on me reliably every time. But now it does not. I
don't remember, but I might have restarted my computer in the meantime which
would lead to clearing the ~/.cache directory...

It probably makes sense to close the bug now, since I can't reproduce it either
:-)

[plasmashell] [Bug 374181] New: Have lost the ability to set the number of rows...

2016-12-26 Thread Tim Bess
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=374181

Bug ID: 374181
Summary: Have lost the ability to set the number of rows...
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.8.4
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: System Tray
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: timber...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: 1.0

I wasn't sure if this should be filed here or with pager.

I had this setup for 4 desktops, with 3 rows of tasks in the task bar. This ate
some desktop space, but I run a lot of stuff. Now when I get to the point where
a new row should be added -- the icons just get smaller & smaller. I've tried
going into system settings and changing the number of rows (It still says 3,
just wont give them to me). Tried setting it 1-6 with no changes in behavior -
still gives me 1 row actual.

Bug ID: 374180

   Product: digikam

  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED

Confusing when wrong name appears under face tag.

When I choose People and select (a) name(s) for which I have face tagged my
photos, only the marked areas of the pictures with the chosen name(s) appear.

Under the face tag all the tags applied to the pictures appear. This is
confusing. It seems more natural that only the tag for the marked part of the
picture appears, or at least that the tag for the marked part of the picture
appears first.

*

Face recognition.

Is it possible to deselect marked faces from the face recognition function.

Face tags are used to find picture with defined people, but some of the
pictures are in such a state that they will only confuse the face regognition
algorithms. Is it possible to mark these somehow to reduce probability of
confusion ?

**

Tags applied to faces could be separated from tags applied to picture when
looking at the picture.

When we are looking at a picture it could also be nice to separate between tags
applied to marked faces and tags applied to the whole picture. I would like
this because I have some pictures to which I applied tags with names of people
without marking the faces. I would like to delete these tags.

Example of .mts file

My current camera records films with the .mts extension.
I would like to be able to geotag and browse these films in digikam without
changing the format of the films. Is it therefore possible to add the .mts
extension to the formats digikam can handle ?
Plays nicely in vlc.

I could change the format but I would like to be able to view and play the
files in their original formats.

Similar wish for kPhotoAlbum from 2011, I assume that this is not the same
codebase.

Since it the same issue and (from the outside) the Gwenview and Okular seem

Plasmashell hogs CPU while network connection is being configured

When LAN is being configured and the network icon in the system tray is
decorated with the spinning circle, plasmashell process consumes 100% of a CPU
core. See the attached screenshot. When network connection is established, the
100% CPU load stops.

In my case it happened while I was diagnosing network problems, so the spinning
circle was shown for a long time, and for the whole time plasmashell was
loading the CPU.

Because it's not a bug and "fixing" it would break features. Copy/paste within
Dolphin would not work anymore. Also, Plasma's clipboard applet nowadays
recognizes file:// URLs and shows additional actions on them (e.g. the "Open

Thank you for the skeleton example, it's really useful! BTW do you know why 1px

I've tried in settings make no difference.
