When offsetting the cure it doesn't handle the case that the curvature radius of the spline can be smaller than the offset value. I have been plagued by this bug for several months now, and i am glad to see
that it has been reported in detail by others here.
However, i am utterly disappointed that such a serious and debilitating bug
("This has made KDE frustrating to use", said Bob Farmer) has been around for
11 months since first reported, and there has been no further comment (or,
better yet, action) from KDE developpers for about 8.5 months now (!!!)
I visited the KDE stand at a recent FOSS event and i was told that there is
exactly ONE (1) (!!!) person involved in kwin development! I hope this is
wrong... but i cannot help wondering whether this might explain these delays...
I would like to hope that making fancy YouTube promotional material has not
become more important to the KDE Project than technical merits...

Someone changed the status of that bug to "RESOLVED UPSTREAM" though it's certainly not been fixed. However, it happens less often now, and i have found ways to save my work when it happens, so i tentatively and hesitantly switched back to KDE. But bugs like this one with mouse focus, and a few other less minor ones, and most of all the Qt/KDE developers' attitude, move me ever closer to switching once and for all. I had written some more, not at all flattering stuff, in my previous comment, but i forced myself to delete it because this is a "bug report" area. But i have seen comments from plenty of other KDE users who are infuriated with the senseless "upgrading" to immature, alpha-testing-level products that the Qt & KDE projects have been forcing on their users the last few years. The idea is that specifying --config is very likely if you are specifying --database-directory. So it would be nice to have a per-database-directory config file default. It makes sense that this would be in the same directory as specified by the --database-directory option. This is a pretty trivial change and I don't see any downsides. However, there are downsides to not changing this. My worry is that by sharing a config file, I might change a setting when using one DK database instance that will affect another database instance without my being aware of it, until its too late. Here's an scenario. Suppose I have one DK database instance, call it A, managing a set of photos that I want the XMP metadata written into the image and another DK database instance, call it B, where I want them written as sidecar files only. Since I'm a photographer and not a DK developer, I don't know how DK configs are stored. I might even guess wrongly, that they are stored in the digikam4.db file. So I don't realize that to not shoot myself in the foot, I need to have two separate config files. By default, the default config will be shared (bad default in this case). So supposing I setup instance B first, then A, then when I start adding tags to B, the photos in B will be modified, not what I was expecting. I suspect there are a lot of use cases like the above for different config settings. It seems to me that the best course of action would be to default to unique default config file when using --database-directory. There should be no fallback to the global default config file when --database-directory is given. If the user really wants to use a different config file path, perhaps sharing with another DK instance, they can do so explicitly. Bottom line: sharing config files is dangerous and should not be default behavior. The logic should be that if no --config is given, DK should first check for digikamrc in the directory specified by --database-directory, and if it does not exist should create a new one with default values. This would get DK another step closer to having photo collections that are easily re-locatable. I find this a bit silly for several reasons: - both types of dialogs have their pros and cons, with the KDE dialogs having considerable advantages for developers over the native Mac dialogs, in my experience. KDevelop users ought to be perfectly capable of making their own informed choice which they prefer. See also https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=371525#c1 . - the main platforms for which the distinction was probably introduced both allow users to set that env. variable (this is what makes the implementation silly in my opinion). I'd propose 2 alternative solutions: - make it a build-time choice via a CMake option with the default set to match the current behaviour. That's the simplest option which basically turns runtime ifs into compile-time #ifdefs. - make it a runtime user choice, with an option in the "User Interface" config panel. Not unheard of esp. in complex, multipurpose workhorses (you'll find such an option in Open/LibreOffice). I am happy to change it once we reach a consensus. I will explain my point of view, but I am aware that it may be skewed due to "knowing the inner workings": In my opinion the behaviour should always be the least surprising. We have both --database-directory and --config (I assume that anyone who actually uses command line arguments is aware of this). For me the simplest and clearest is, when both have just one purpose. With your proposal --database-directory has the side effect of also changing the config location, which is (still, my impression) not directly obvious. Database and configuration being separate entities is common for many software. My intended use case: I have two collections, one on the laptop and on a network share. The databases are also stored on the laptop and on the network share respectively. I want digikam to have the same behaviour no matter which database I am using, so I share the config between the two. About your use case: Information is always stored in the database. You can only select whether you want to store it in image metadata/sidecar files as well. Therefore I don't really understand your example, unless A and B manage the same set of photos in the same location. When trying to build kde frameworks for SailfishOS, i found that kcrash fails
to build because of the following function in kcrash.cpp.

The rendering of the last in the list appears to be below the taskbar. Open users have many more windows open for a program than 15, for example many more Dolphin windows, which can serve as a reminder for various tasks. The inability to scroll this list means that all windows cannot be accessed from the taskbar when grouped. Not grouping with a large number of windows causes each window to have a very tiny icon which is almost indistinguishable from the others. Scrolling through a large number of ungrouped windows in the taskbar, even with tooltips, is very time consuming. Another option, the Window List which has a scrollable popup, does not have the ability to group windows by program name, and in fact has no settings at all. This happens even if the "maximum rows" is set to 99. (Apparently this has nothing to do with the popups.) There is no way to scroll through these previews if there are more than 5 windows in a group. Not grouping windows in the taskbar and having one tooltip preview for each window isn't practical when there are a large number of windows for one application. The tooltip bar should have some ability to scroll right and left through all window previews.
