[kmail2] [Bug 378228] New: KMail hangs when trying to open a MS Outlook calendar (invitation) message

2017-03-28 Thread René Krell
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=378228

Bug ID: 378228
Summary: KMail hangs when trying to open a MS Outlook calendar
(invitation) message
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 5.4.3
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: message list
  Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: renda.kr...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Linkage info:
- KDE Frameworks 5.31.0
- Qt 5.7.1 (built against 5.7.1)

If I receive a calendar message (invitation) from MS Outlook via KMail/Akonadi
the message window starts showing "retrieving folder contents" and hangs up
infinitely.

After that, even on changing to other messages in the message list the message
window does not recover from that.

To recover, I have to restart KMail and Akonadi (akonadictl restart), but if
the first message to show after restarting KDE is the same calendar message
again, the whole problem reappears of course.

[kdialog] [Bug 378227] New: KDialog scans all fonts directory before showing dialog box making it super slow

2017-03-28 Thread Deepak Mittal

Bug ID: 378227
Summary: KDialog scans all fonts directory before showing
dialog box making it super slow
   Product: kdialog
   Version: 1.0
  Platform: Other

I used strace and found out kdialog scans all my fonts directory before
launching. If there are tons of fonts, it sometimes takes upto 10-15 seconds to
show up. This is on a SSD, I can only imagine how slow it would be on an HDD.

I noticed these files take up tons of stat calls:

This is still an issue with Plasma 5.9. I do not believe that this is an X11
limitation when this functionality has been achieved with previous versions of
Plasma (Specifically Plasma 4), as well as other environments like Unity.

I have a panel with launchers setup on the left side of my far left monitor.
I'd like to be able to recreate this setup on my right monitor, but cannot due
to this limitation.

Also worth noting: This issue also occurs with the "Windows Can Cover" mode.

I am also experiencing this problem.

When I start kmail from a command line, and select a mailbox where the problem
is happening, I get a run of errors shown, like:

org.kde.pim.akonadicore: Got a stale notification for an item which was already
removed. 36928 ""

The number run up to 36968 with a few skipped.

I have also noticed, in my attempts to fix things, that running "akonadictrl
fsck" reports a list of errors, but does not fix any, as the same errors are
reported on the next run.

Without looking into the code, I assume what you want is not feasible.
kolourpaint is a pxel-oriented graphics program, not a line drawing
application.
When you finished constructing a line, it's no longer a line but just a set of
pixels.
kolourpaint does scale an image or a selection of it via a smooth-scale
algorithm which I believe is the right thing to do in a pixel oriented graphics
program, and this leads to what you see as blur.
I believe there are better solutions for handling line based drawings, where
each line stays a line.

FF's theme system is currently being re-worked to fix theme issues such as
this, in the meantime you can force FF to run with the GTK default internal
theme via adding 'GTK_THEME=Adwaita' at the start of the launch command.

Don't know why this isn't marked as confirmed, been an active problem for a
very long time now...

Can confirm on KDE neon LTS User Edition 5.8 with Plasma and Discover versions
5.8.6. Expecting the updates applet to notify and show me new updates when
available, but the applet always shows "System up to date", even if the system
is actually not up to date, until I manually check for updates.

Also, the manual update check seems to sometimes require multiple checks before
it shows the new updates.

the input.

When I now upload the contents to Pastebin.com of the attachment of

message tooltip is shown that Pastebin.com does not accept the content ("heavy

OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Keywords: drkonqi
  Severity: crash

Application: kwin_x11 (5.8.6)

Qt Version: 5.6.1
Frameworks Version: 5.26.0
Operating System: Linux 4.4.49-16-default x86_64
Distribution: "openSUSE Leap 42.2"

-- Information about the crash:
KWIN crashes at random intervals for no obvious reasons except that I click
somewhere on the screen, usually to close or select a window. The screen
blinks and an error window pops up which allows me to provide info. Sometimes,
KWIN will lock up after the crash, and I have to go to the psudeo terminals to
reboot. At other times, I may not even be able to get to the psudo terminals
and have to manually power off the system. After one of these crashes, one or
more of the open windows may have it's title bar above the level of the screen,
so it can't be moved. I am seriously thinking of switching to gnome.

The crash can be reproduced sometimes.

gnome-terminal suffers from the same set of problems, see e.g.
  https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=772812
  https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=772890

Indeed plenty of codepoints changed from single-wide to double-wide as of
Unicode 9.0, and this causes tons of troubles (until all components of the
system update to 9.0).

glibc will receive Unicode 9.0 support in version 2.26 (it's already in git,
but missed 2.25). Based on what you say, Debian seems to forward-patch their
2.24.

> EastAsianWidth.txt of Unicode 8.0 didn't contain \u26a1

It may not contain this string in particular, it's inside an interval:

ftp://ftp.unicode.org/Public/8.0.0/ucd/EastAsianWidth.txt
26A0..26BD;N # So[30] WARNING SIGN..SOCCER BALL

ftp://ftp.unicode.org/Public/9.0.0/ucd/EastAsianWidth.txt
26A1;W # So HIGH VOLTAGE SIGN

> Wouldn't using the system's wcwidth (if available?) be preferable?

I guess so (see the second gnome-terminal link above).

Forgot to mention;

If I uncheck "Use addresses indexed from emails for autocompletion" It no
longer shows anything from my Address Book, or others. Just shows recent
addresses, emails no names odd.

If I uncheck use recent addresses I think it stops collecting them, but no
change otherwise.

Neither allows me to just use contacts in my address book.

I have a ridiculous amount of unwanted emails that show in auto completion. I
have not been able to get this under control. I changed the order to Personal
Conacts then Recent Addresses. I would like it to just be Personal Contacts and
no others. I can only change order, not deselect or remove ones from being in
the order at all. I clear out recent addresses but it fills back up, and other
email addresses coming from some where I need to hunt down and remove. I only
want emails in my address book to show in auto completion. Its pretty simple.
Not sure why all this complex harvesting, that is erroneous, and even worse.
Messes up contacts in Personal Contacts.

When I start typing a name/address that is in my address book, personal
contacts. It does not show, but all the erroneous and bad ones do show. Not
util I have pretty much typed it all does the correct one show for Auto
Completion. Its about as bad as I have ever seen. Its been this way across many
versions

KMail Version 5.4.2
KDE Frameworks 5.31.0
Qt 5.7.1 (built against 5.7.1)
The xcb windowing system

Likely an update, but unless its been changed/fixed. More than likely will
behave the same as it has for some time now.

[systemsettings] [Bug 378222] New: SDDM-kcm doesn't change the breeze sddm theme background if the new background image name is same as the old name

2017-03-28 Thread Rog131
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=378222

Bug ID: 378222
Summary: SDDM-kcm doesn't change the breeze sddm theme
background if the new background image name is same as
the old name
   Product: systemsettings
   Version: 5.9.4
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: kcm_sddm
  Assignee: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk
  Reporter: samrog...@hotmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

How to reproduce:

1) Set the Breeze sddm theme background image (1.jpg) with the sddm kcm.
2) Try to change the Breeze sddm theme background image with the same name
(1.jpg) with the sddm kcm.

Workaround:

As the 'clear image' action is not removing the image file from the
"/usr/share/sddm/themes/breeze/" the user needs to change the background image
to another name (2.jpg) before the old name can be used again.

[kaffeine] [Bug 374693] kaffeine does not tune into some dvb-s channels

Yes, exiting just after

if (ioctl (d->frontend, FE_ENABLE_HIGH_LNB_VOLTAGE, &val) < 0 && val)

makes it work. And not only the before missing channels, but all channels.
(This also applies to a scan, which will complete with more channels when it
"works"). My LNBf is a AP82-T2B ( http://www.dueemme.com/catalogo/10.40.html )
with two connectors. With more testing, it turns out this effect is also there
with for instance w_scan. Attached are two files, both generated with

w_scan -f s -c DE -s S19.2E2 -L > Astraplaylist_after_vlc.xspf

, with vlc shortly running between the scans with a channels file as playlist.
>From those files, the "directly working" channels and those missing can be seen
by comparison. (A few might be missing due to random effects). From this list:

http://de.satexpat.com/sat/ost/19.2/

for instance, 11837 H 27500 3/4 DVB-S QPSK group, including "Das Erste", is
always missing without the workaround.

[systemsettings] [Bug 378221] New: Track-pad highlight with two fingers

2017-03-28 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=378221

Bug ID: 378221
Summary: Track-pad highlight with two fingers
   Product: systemsettings
   Version: 5.9.3
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: jey.and@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Sometimes there's not enough space on trackpad to continue highlighting text,
if highlighting is active, using second finger to continue cursor movement
would be cool.

PS there's no trackpad section
PSS removing kcm prefix could allow to filter the list of components in
bugzilla.

   Product: kate
   Version: 16.08
  Platform: Debian testing

Test file

Dear Maintainer,

I have discovered a spell checker regression in the Kate Part, shipped with
applications 16.08.3. It underlines words which are perfectly valid which makes
it unreliable.

I have attached a test file written in Slovenian (sl_SI). It contains two
control lines which should be underlined, everything rest should be valid. Kate
16.08.3 underlines too much (see screenshot), LibreOffice 5.2.6.2 on the same
system passes the test. Kate 4.14.2 on another system also passes the test. The
problem was discovered using Lokalize.

Best Regards,
Andrej Mernik
