[LabPlot2] [Bug 379104] New: creating a plot or a fit must be improved
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=379104 Bug ID: 379104 Summary: creating a plot or a fit must be improved Product: LabPlot2 Version: unspecified Platform: MS Windows OS: MS Windows Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: frontend Assignee: alexander.se...@web.de Reporter: uwesto...@web.de Target Milestone: --- Take for example the case that you just have to make a fit. At first how it is done in LabPlot 2.4: 1. create a new worksheet 2. create there an xy-plot 3. add there a xy-curve 4. select there the data 5. go back to xy-plot (very unintuitive) 6. use the menu Analysis -> Data fitting 7. select there the data again 8. do the fit Now how it is done in MagicPlot: 1. highlight 2 columns of the spreadsheet and right-click 2. select "Create Fit Plot-> Line + Marker" 3. do the fit This is very quick and intuitive. The plot is automatically created and the fit window is opened. Since one highlighted columns it is also already clear what data have to be fitted. If one needs something else, one can of course change the data source. I think it is not unfair to use MagicPlot as reference. Its aim is very similar to LabPlot. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[LabPlot2] [Bug 379101] New: custom fitting fails
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=379101 Bug ID: 379101 Summary: custom fitting fails Product: LabPlot2 Version: unspecified Platform: MS Windows OS: MS Windows Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: alexander.se...@web.de Reporter: uwesto...@web.de Target Milestone: --- - install LP 2.4 under Windows - create a new spreadsheet and fill 2 columns with row numbers - create a worksheet - create there an xy-plot - add there a xy-curve - use the menu Analysis -> Data fitting in the spreadsheet - use a custom fit function, for example "exp(a*x)" result: the "a" is not recognized as fit variable and does therefore not occur in the parameters list. There I see 2 variables named "c0" and "c1". So one has to add the "a" there manually and delete the "c" parameters. This is time-consuming and annoying. (MagicPlot and Origin recognizes the fit parameters automatically.) However, - use for the parameter "a" as start value "1" and press recalculate result: one gets this: a = 1±nan (nan %) but more severe is that the plot is overlayed with an empty fit. So fitting is just useless because I of course want to see the fit result I the plot. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[konsole] [Bug 377412] konsole with -e option doesn't keep the window open anymore
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=377412 --- Comment #6 from Michael --- (In reply to Wolfgang Bauer from comment #3) > PS, this should work like you expect it to, it does here with Konsole 17.04 > at least: > konsole --noclose -e sh -c 'echo foo && sleep 3 && echo "bar" && sleep 3 && > echo "closing"' Thank you for addressing this issue! Yes, adding the --noclose keeps Konsole open, but that's a different functionality than what we had before. Allow me to explain further. I used to have long, one-liner scripts that were embedded in a .desktop file, like the one I just attached. A client could click on the .desktop file and it would create a Konsole window, run the script, log the results inside the window, and when the script was over, Konsole would disappear. Perfect. Just as expected. For example, here's the relevant line that gets executed in a .desktop file that used to work: Exec=konsole -e echo "" && downloads="$HOME/Downloads" && echo "Waiting..." | toilet --font term --filter border && kdialog ${WINDOWID:+--attach $WINDOWID} --caption ' ' --title ' ' --inputbox "Paste a Youtube, Vimeo, or virtually any video URL here to get the video:" "URL or video code" 2>/dev/null > /tmp/yturl && echo "Getting the file name from online..." | toilet --font term --filter border && { youtube-dl --get-filename --output "$downloads/%(title)s.%(ext)s" --batch-file /tmp/yturl > /tmp/ytpath && thepath="$(cat /tmp/ytpath)" && echo "Downloading the video..." | toilet --font term --filter border && youtube-dl --batch-file /tmp/yturl --newline --no-mtime --output "$thepath" && qdbus org.freedesktop.FileManager1 /org/freedesktop/FileManager1 org.freedesktop.FileManager1.ShowItems "$thepath" "1"; } || { size=$( wc -c < "/tmp/yturl" ) && if [ $size -gt 1 ]; then kdialog ${WINDOWID:+--attach $WINDOWID} --caption ' ' --title ' ' --msgbox "Sorry, unable to download “$(cat /tmp/yturl)”" 2>/dev/null; else kdialog ${WINDOWID:+--attach $WINDOWID} --caption ' ' --title ' ' --msgbox "Cancelled." 2>/dev/null; fi; } Now this .desktop file won't work. Konsole has removed needed functionality. I've attached the .desktop file to play with. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Yes, thank you, that's what I'm alluding to, that there has been a change that breaks old scripts' behaviours. If I include --noclose, then that forces konsole to stay open, which is not how it worked previously: a script would terminate, and konsole would close afterwards, as expected. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=357440 --- Comment #8 from Thomas Fischer --- (In reply to Jonathan Bisson from comment #7) > Created attachment 100495 [details] > Breeze-style kbibtex icon Sorry for my late answer. I appreciate your effort creating this icon, but I am not (yet) satisfied to accept it as the new KBibTeX Breeze icon. If you check the examples on https://community.kde.org/KDE_Visual_Design_Group/HIG/IconDesign the icon of attachment 100495 is fitting for a mimetype rather than an application. Furthermore, due to is square shape, it is harder to recognize as KBibTeX's icon in comparison to the current icon using stacked books. Maybe it would be a viable way to 'breeze'ify the current icon? Maybe either you or I should ask for support and suggestions in the KDE VDG/HIG Forum? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[Powerdevil] [Bug 378445] kscreenlocker_greet occasionally freezes in malloc in signal handler
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=378445 --- Comment #13 from r...@alum.mit.edu --- That's not likely what happened here; this most often happens overnight when I had shut the laptop's lid, and it's not right after I shut it either (I have my lid set to lock when shut, not suspend). I wasn't able to induce this behavior. The problem is that the lock sequence must consist of at least two keys (main key and modifier), and as soon as one of the keys is touched during the grace period, the screen unlocks. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[konsole] [Bug 373440] konsole --new-tab opens window instead
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=373440 --- Comment #30 from Wolfgang Bauer --- (In reply to kde.bugs from comment #29) In other words, I need to address the kubuntu > development if I want to see this fixed in my distribution? Correct. There won't be any further 16.12.x releases, and even if they wouldn't turn up automatically in your distribution. Your distribution would either need to backport the fix to their package, or upgrade the package to the latest version where it is fixed. > As for *this* "--new-tab" bug, no solution yet? No. The commit in comment 12 was supposed to fix it, but as it turned out it does not really (that's why this bug report was REOPENED). It can be "workarounded" by enabling the option "Run all Konsole windows in a single process" though, that was konsole's (only supported) behavior before 16.12. Of course that will unfortunately trigger bug#366793 in 16.12 as you noticed... -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[konsole] [Bug 373440] konsole --new-tab opens window instead
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=373440 --- Comment #29 from kde.b...@beasimone.com --- (In reply to Wolfgang Bauer from comment #28) > Again, this is fixed in 17.04, by the fix for bug#366793. > And it's totally unrelated to *this* bug report anyway IMHO. Thanks for a quick reply. Apologies in advance if I get something wrong, I am "just a user". I wasn't aware of bug#366793, I can now see how it may be unrelated to *this* bug report. Just to be sure, you are referring to a fix in 17.04 of konsole, so that users like me of kubuntu 17.04 (unfortunate coincidence in versions...) are stuck with konsole 16.12.3 that still carries the "-e" bug. In other words, I need to address the kubuntu development if I want to see this fixed in my distribution? As for *this* "--new-tab" bug, no solution yet? Or does the commit in comment #12 fix it and this is captured in a konsose version greater than 16.12.3, so that again I should address the kubuntu development team? Sorry, not clear to me how to work out in what version of konsole a specific commit has been implemented. Cheers -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[digikam] [Bug 379081] GPS data are in file but geolocation indicator is not shown and map view empty
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=379081 --- Comment #5 from ulrich.demleh...@gmail.com --- Quite interesting ...;-)) This Captions/More/Read metadata... process does also work in v5.5, no need to install v5.6. I now see the geolocation indicator and the map view shows the location of the picture. But if I use the menubar Item/Reread metadata... process (which I used to use when trying to came up with a solution to the problem), nothing happens. I now tried the Captions/More/Read metadata... process for all files in that very subdirectory (no file had had shown the geolocation indicator) and everything looks good now. So obviously the Captions/... and the menubar Item/... processes use two different pieces of program code? Ulrich -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
