[plasmashell] [Bug 382340] Notifications are often as 1px vertical line

2017-07-22 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=382340

this doesn't seem to be a duplicate of bug 381130 as archlinux has back-ported
that fix and for me the issue still persist after updating.

and it does seem that workaround is to simple have the primary screen as the
most left one.

Some package update fixed it in April, over a month after the problem started.
I still don't know which package was the actual culprit and which update fixed
it, but I didn't update the whole distributon in betweem, I used Fedora 25 all
that time. And didn't find any settings that would have fixed it.

Even if filelight still had a kpart, it would still not be possible to embed it

Btw filelight is already integrated with dolphin, just click on the space bar

[plasmashell] [Bug 382581] New: Add window search in places which list open windows

2017-07-22 Thread Eugene
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=382581

Bug ID: 382581
Summary: Add window search in places which list open windows
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: master
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk
  Reporter: bertyf...@gmail.com
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: 1.0

Having many windows open I often miss the ability to effectively search through
them. There are many places which list open windows in some way: Window List,
Task Switcher, Present Windows are some of them that I constantly use, but none
of them can do the search. The KRunner can only search in all active sources,
which is inconvenient (and a regression from the kde4 version). So the
framework for searching is already there, it just must be made use of.

[valgrind] [Bug 382515] valgrind: "Assertion 'di->have_dinfo' failed." on wine's dlls/mscoree/tests/mscoree.c

2017-07-22 Thread Philippe Waroquiers
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=382515

The dll and pdb being loaded are:
mscorlib.dll
mscorlib.pdb

Looking at the trace compared to the code, once we have seen the traces

==22926== LOAD_PDB_DEBUGINFO: Scanning PE section .reloc at avma 0x7ac000
svma 0x3ac000
--22926-- LOAD_PDB_DEBUGINFO: rx_map: avma 0x402000 size 3831716 foff 512
--22926-- LOAD_PDB_DEBUGINFO: rw_map: avma 0x7aa000 size1024 foff 3832320
--22926-- LOAD_PDB_DEBUGINFO: text: avma 0x402000 svma 0x2000 size 3831716
bias 0x0

there is only one place where the readpdb code returns without dinfo, that is:
   hdr = find_pdb_header( pdbimage, &signature );
   if (0==hdr)
return False; /* JRS: significance? no pdb header? */

This find_pdb_header is searching for a specific character '\032'
and the string "Microsoft C/C++"
Is the pdb file containing the expected pdb header ?
I guess wine and/or microsoft-windows have objdump like utilities ?
Or else just look with emacs this pdb and another working pdb, to
see if the expected data is there ?

Would be good also to redo the tracing above adding something like
--trace-symtab=yes --trace-symtab-patt=*mscorlib*

Even if an activity is marked as private (the 'private - do not track usage for
this activity' checkbox in the 'other' tab of the activity settings dialog),
files opened in that activity appear in the 'recent documents'.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Create a new activity and mark it as private.
2. Open a file in the activity.
3. Switch to another activity.
4. In krunner, type 'recent'.

Observed result:
The file which was opened in the activity marked 'private' is visible in the
list of recent documents.

Expected result:
Files opened in private activities should not be tracked by the 'recent
documents' feature.

When I create a new budget, I'm able to rename it, and change the year in the
grid. Renaming works as expected, but the new year won't stick. When I change
tabs the year resets to the current fiscal year.

When I right-click on the budget I can select to change the year of the budget,
which works as expected. I suppose it shouldn't be possible at all to change
the year in the grid, but only using the selector.

5.10 significantly improved the scaling behavior on Wayland. This is currently
still a hidden config option but with 5.11 it's planned to make it mainstream.
I assume that this issue is fixed with those changes. For the record I'm
currently running a scaled Wayland system and the decorations look properly.

Here is the thing, folks. When a maintainer closes a bug report, users should
not open that bug report again, whether they feel that their point is valid, or
not. Maintainers are responsible for bug reports against the components they
maintain and whether rightly or wrongly, are the final arbiters. ALL users of
bugs.kde.org as well as other parts of the KDE infrastructure -- including
maintainers -- are responsible for following and supporting the KDE Code of
Conduct. Technical disagreements should focus on technical details, without
strong language, sarcasm, name-calling or other disparagement. We all want a
strong community and awesome software.

[kwin] [Bug 375581] netwm-spec: _NET_WM_STATE should be removed when window is withdrawn, but kwin clears it

I tried to track down whether there are any changes in KWin related to that.
The relevant code is in KWin::Client::releaseWindow:

info->setState(0, info->state());  // Reset all state flags

This code has not seen any changes in year. I tracked it down through two
coding style changes and ended in a change "branches/work/kwin_composite
becomes new trunk kwin" in 2007 where I'm no longer able to follow with git
blame. But it's clear the code hasn't changed for a decade at least.

So I looked at the implementation of NetWinInfo::setState. There I went back to
the KDE 4.0 branch where this method only clears but does not delete the
property. The oldest code I found is from 2007 as well and also didn't delete
the property. The relevant code section has an interesting copyright header:
Copyright (c) 2000 Troll Tech AS

Qt implemented it that way in 2000. They didn't have a problem with their
implementation for almost 2 decades. If KWin was not 100 % spec compliant in
this point for > 15 years without any application or toolkit having a problem
with it I must say that KWin's behavior is kind of a de-facto standard. The
EWMH standard is unfortunately hardly implemented correctly by any window
manager - in fact it's impossible to implement it correctly as it's
contradicting.

Overall I don't think this is an issue which we should fix. The risk of
breaking another application is too high given that KWin behaved like that for
such a long time.

Just tried, and now

Brings a black window where I can launch kwrite as described in kde wayland
page.

(maybe due to LTO compilation)

So I guess the situation improved. sddm with plasma (Wayland) does not work,
the window remains black. Weston starts up with no problem, so maybe the
problem now is different. (I'm using LTO compiled kwin at this moment, with
gcc)

[kwin] [Bug 377294] Application Launcher pops out very slowly

2017-07-22 Thread Martin Flöser
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=377294

I just checked the code to see what the cases are for EGL to be picked:

1) if the env variable is set
2) if on Wayland
3) if compiled without GLX support
4) if Qt is compiled with OpenGL ES support
5) if KWIN_COMPOSE env variable is set to O2ES
6) if X display does not support GLX

As you explicitly set the env variable to be glx we can exclude 1. Your support
information excludes 2, 3 and 5. So we have either Qt being compiled with
OpenGL ES (but then it should be OpenGL ES IIRC) or X not supporting GLX.

Given that you write that you have the nvidia driver installed, but KWin uses
Intel driver I bet on number 6 being the actual issue.

You can easily verify by e.g. running glxinfo or xdpyinfo.
