2018-03-12 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=391797

Bug ID: 391797
Summary: can't save to .gif file
   Product: krita
   Version: 3.3.3
  Platform: MS Windows
OS: MS Windows
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: File formats
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: dr.rosh...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 111359
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=111359=edit
This is the file that it specifically won't save

When trying to save an animated project file to .gif format an error window
appears and tells me that the file is missing from app data. I don't know if
it's my computer or Krita itself doing this.

[krita] [Bug 391796] New: Handles of Text object boundary cannot be dragged

2018-03-12 Thread Tyson Tan
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=391796

Bug ID: 391796
Summary: Handles of Text object boundary cannot be dragged
   Product: krita
   Version: 4.0 pre-alpha
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Layers/Vector
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: tyson...@mail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

In krita-4.1.0-pre-alpha-a41aeb7-x86_64, I can drag a Text object by using
Shape Select Tool, but only when I click the red dot at the center of a text
object. There are 8 handles on the edges and corners, indicating they are
supposed to be draggable to resize the shape of the text object, however, they
are not responsive. Without resizable boundary and text wrapping, the text goes
on in one line forever unless I use line breaks. It makes text editing not
intuitive.

[krita] [Bug 391795] New: Text tool input dialogue box pops up on a different monitor than Krita's

2018-03-12 Thread Tyson Tan
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=391795

Bug ID: 391795
Summary: Text tool input dialogue box pops up on a different
monitor than Krita's
   Product: krita
   Version: 4.0 pre-alpha
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal

 Component: Tool/Text
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: tyson...@mail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

In krita-4.1.0-pre-alpha-a41aeb7-x86_64, The Text tool input dialogue box pops
up on a different monitor than Krita's. I don't know how Krita determines the
placement of the input dialogue box. On my PC I have two monitors aligned
vertically, monitor 2 is a normal display, monitor 1 is a Cintiq. It always
pops up on monitor 2. Maybe it always pops up on the top monitor?

But the problem is -- this is very confusing because when the dialogue box is
popped up, the main window becomes unresponsive but not grayed-out. And since
my attention is on the lower monitor where Krita's main windows is, I do not
notice a new dialogue on another screen. I would assume Krita was locked up. I
believe this is especially confusing for first time users.

I suggest we force Text Tool dialogue to start up within Krita's main window.
Same goes for all Krita's pop up dialogues.

hey guys downloaded 4

python wasn't working in there yet i noticed? So here are just a few thoughts
after diggin around on the web

Love the comic project integration can you make it so it works as a
storyboarder as well I'm sure it wouldn't take much and I am happy to share
mine with you.

i also thought it would be good if there was python listener similar to
blenders so that way you could look at the code that has been generated and you
could copy past code and part of the UI to create different krita tools.

Also I am learning use Pycharm along with python for creating tools in Krita 4
when it gets released. I would love to see a tutorial perhaps or a healthy
workflow for using apps like this for developing krita in python.

Love your work guys

Scaling around the angular pivot points on the widget using the input boxes
comes out wrong when the uniform scaling option is active:

1) "CTRL+T" (switch to the Transform tool)
2) "Scale" radio checked
3) "Transform around pivot point" active
4) click the top-left corner of the hud
5) click the chain symbol to enable uniform scaling
6) type in a new value for width

I was just playing around with the animation in a newer Windows build and
noticed that after animating for a while, I tried to hit play and Krita just
keeps telling me it is "regenerating the cache". It gets done, I try to hit
play again, then it tries to update the cache again.

Here is the file I am using.
https://drive.google.com/open?id=188nnwNdy9VpT-5dX8H8p6lleMT07Cmyr

Open the file, and try to hit the play button. It seems to happen every time
with my build (git 31b943f).

After playing with this file a while I think it has something to do with the
onion skins. Turning the onion skins off it appears to eventually let me play
again.

Git commit 4cf5247c5a3c174be69b56d0efe98310964160d5 by Nathaniel Graham.
Committed on 13/03/2018 at 02:18.
Pushed by ngraham into branch 'master'.

Show all actions on the main Kirigami toolbar and use the secondary one only
for status

Summary:
This is an alternative to D11214 and D11215, and a different method of fixing
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=391632. I rather prefer it.

The patches moves the {nav Update All} button onto the main Kirigami Toolbar,
next to {nav Check for Updates}. This allows the secondary white-background
toolbar to be used solely for communicating status information, so there is no
longer any possibility of an overlap. It also improves the design IMHO, by
putting all the action buttons in one place, and all the status information in
another.

So from my point of view: yes, plasma should come with proper appstream

There may be something here. If you just grep for /sys/ in the uncompressed
log and remove the rest of the strace output you get 10k lines of syscalls:

 $ kde@midna ~ $ grep '\/sys\/' log.txt | cut -f 3- -d ' ' | wc -l
10896

If you replace the file names in quotes with a token file name and then remove
duplicates, there are only 18 types of syscalls made (and even these could be
further condensed with a bit more inspection):

 $ kde@midna ~ $ grep '\/sys\/' log.txt | cut -f 3- -d ' ' | sed -e 's,)
=.*$,),g' -e 's,"[^"]*",file,g' | sort | uniq | wc -l
18

These syscalls appear to be a sequence of syscalls involving a given file under
/dev, e.g.

/sys/devices/pci:00/:00:18.0
/sys/devices/pci:00/:00:18.0/ID_MEDIA_PLAYER
/sys/devices/pci:00/:00:18.0/subsystem
/sys/devices/pci:00/:00:18.0/uevent

I'm not sure what code is responsible for these calls though, or even if it's
KDE-related at all, which would be important in troubleshooting further. It
could as well be in UDisks or some other distro-provided library, the strace
output is not limited to KDE-based code.

Yes upon further investigation this mainly seems to be trigger by the use of

how Qt treats them, and they will try to connect to the default database and
prepare to execute commands there.

Bigger images will slow down your computer yes, this is a physical limitation
of the way the universe works. More things to do: more time needed. You can try
to circumvent this by getting a faster computer. This report has nothing that
indicates that this slowness could be caused by a bug, so therefore it is not a
bugreport, and I will close it as invalid.

Okay I think I know what is causing this... Kmail is now storing the emails
SOMEWHERE ELSE compared to before. So it's trying to find the old mails in the
new place, and they're not there, hence it just spins forever.

Question is, where are the mail stored now? I can't find them... so my nightly
backups are backing up nothing (because there's nothing new in the old
folders... ~/.local/share/.local-mail.directory)

Such changes need to be thoroughly documented so that users can take
appropriate action, surely?

If there are docs, please point me to them... :-)

I know have mails in 3 or 4 places thanks to various changes in KMail/Akonadi

Thanks, Ian

[valgrind] [Bug 338252] building valgrind with -flto (link time optimisation) fails

2018-03-12 Thread Philippe Waroquiers
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=338252

(In reply to Дилян Палаузов from comment #16)
> People either want to compile everything with LTO, or nothing with LTO, or
> they don't know about LTO.
Humph, that looks like a very general statement about all people in the
world :).
There exist at least one person (me) that knows about LTO and that does
not want to compile everything with LTO, but want to compile a few
things with LTO :).
And I highly suspect that a lot (many ? all ?) distribution packagers
also do not configure all the packages the same way.

> So people willing LTO either know the aforementioned ways to compile with
> LTO, or they do not insist of having LTO.
Launching a valgrind configure/make with CFLAGS containing -flto
fails for various mysterious reasons (see below).
The attached patch is an approach to solve these problems,
obtained after several other approaches failed (in particular to solve
the asm related problems).

>
> In fact valgrind and php are the only software I am aware of that doesn't
> work with LTO, php ignoring LDFLAGS from config.site and postgresql ignoring
> CFLAGS from config.site, and all the rest is working with both the autoconf
> principles and with LTO.
The first problem to solve (as you saw) is the genoffset problem.
As genoffset already had specific compiler options, I just slightly extended
the current approach. => problem solved.
I prefer to do the minimal change in this tricky area : I have no idea what
could be the impact of more heavily changing the way genoffset is compiled.
So, just compiling it with the same flags as today is the safest approach:
if --enable-lto is not used, then it just works as of today.

I then tried hard to solve the linking problems with VG_MINIMAL_SETJMP.
Once it was solved, I had to solve the problem of another undefined reference
(_start).
These were solved by adding a pragma to push the option -fno-lto
for the problematic files.

With these fixes, I obtained something working on my 'main' distro (debian),
but with a very strange warning, something like:
a plugin is needed to handle lto objects
And of course, my toolchain is configured with plugin support !
So this warning is completely mysterious/not understandable.
But as the resulting valgrind was working, I just ignored the warning.

I then tested on another distro (fedora+s390x)
There the build stopped with an error message 'invalid option -fno-lto'
(while -flto is properly supported). So, yet another mystery.
Various other trials to fix the problem resulted in gcc-ar/ar core dumping,
compilation failing, or resulting valgrind not working.
So, another bunch of mysteries. I even tried to debug gcc-ar/ar, but could
not make any sense of what I saw.

Finally, I obtained the attached patch, that I have validated on 4
distributions,
with 4 different gcc versions.

As I understand, your opinion is that the way valgrind autoconf/automake is
done
is 'not clean', as e.g. it hardcodes some compilation options (-O2 and
similar).
I am not an autoconf/automake expert, so I cannot really judge, and for sure
I do not have the time/knowledge to clean all that up.

So, in summary:
  * as I understand, a clean solution would imply to heavily rework valgrind
build system.
  * Valgrind build system also supports build a primary and secondary arch.
Not too sure that this is very usual/supported out of the box when
using CFLAGS on the command line (flags must be different for primary and
secondary arch).
So, that might make a clean solution more complex to obtain.
 * even if --enable-lto option is not a clean solution, at least it allows to
build with lto if desired.
Note that as far as I can see, several other packages have such an option
 --enable-lto. See e.g. https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-1052716.html

Sorry for not being able to do things better in this area, I guess we will
need a real expert for this.

In the meantime, if the patch is deemed reasonable enough, I will push it, as
at
least it allows to have an lto compiled valgrind, and points at what
has to be compiled 'specially' if someone wants to do a cleaner build system.

Summary: powerdevil defaults to do nothing when closing laptop
lid
   Product: Powerdevil
   Version: 5.12.3
  Platform: Debian unstable
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: jm.ouwerk...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Latest powerdevil appears to default to doing nothing when closing the laptop
lid. In terms of usability this is a somewhat poor default. I do not know
whether it is relevant, but I start plasma + kwin using
`startplasmacompositor`, i.e. running a Wayland setup.

Steps to reproduce:

 1. Install your plasma system
 2. Login on a tty & run `startplasmacompositor`
 3. Close laptop lid.
 4. Notice nothing happens.
 5. Log off/kill your plasma session
 6. Close laptop lid.
 7. Notice logind takes care of business as expected.
 8. Run another Plasma session (`startplasmacompositor` again)
 9. Take a closer look at power settings in system settings
 10. Notice "Button events handling" is not checked, notice the greyed out
option for configuring laptop lid handling is marked as "do nothing"
 11. Manually configure closing the laptop lid to suspend to RAM.
 12. Apply settings.
 13. Observe things work as expected, again, from within Plasma.

Extra information:

 - I am using systemd/logind
 - kscreen-console says:

The workaround to wake up the monitor is to start a new terminal (e.g.
Ctrl+Alt+F2) and then back to terminal 1 by pressing Ctrl+Alt+F1.

This issue is super annoying...

You have to Pin it to your Task Manager, and then the cool menu entries will

[konsole] [Bug 391781] New: Add support for SIXEL in Konsole

2018-03-12 Thread Mathieu MD
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=391781

Bug ID: 391781
Summary: Add support for SIXEL in Konsole
   Product: konsole

OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal

 Component: general

It would be nice to be able to simply `cat image.six` (or probably more often
`img2sixel image.jpg |cat`?) and get the image displayed right inside Konsole.
Xterm already has support for Sixel (if launched `xterm -xrm
"XTerm*decTerminalID: vt340" -xrm "XTerm*numColorRegisters: 256"`).

2018-03-12 Thread Martin Flöser
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=391778

Furthermore I want to add that relying on the _NET_WM_FULLSCREEN_MONITORS is
quite questionable. To quote the spec: "The indices are from the set returned
by the Xinerama extension."

Now there is just no xinerama extension used anymore. Today we use xrandr to
configure multiple screens. I have no idea what these indices are that FreeRDP
uses, but KWin (and probably any other window manager) doesn't know anything of
Xinerama. KWin does have support for this protocol, but that's probably just
for legacy support.

I read through the complete bug report on github and don't see anything
indicating that this is a bug in KWin. What we see in the bug report is FreeRDP
having problems with fullscreen and with many, many window managers. In fact
there are workarounds command line switches like "openbox". This is for me a
sign that the issue must be with FreeRDP. Especially given that standard X11
functionality like checking in _NET_SUPPORTED what the WM provides has not been
implemented.

>From time to time it happens that bugs are reported that KWin is wrong. Every
time when we investigated this, we observed, that:
a) the client is wrong
b) if other window managers made the client work, it was KWin implementing the
specs correctly

I'm sorry, but my experience tells me, that this is not a bug in KWin. If it
were a bug in KWin, there would be other applications affected as well.

So until someone proves me that KWin is wrong, by e.g. providing a test case
which highlights the wrong behavior, I'm following my instincts and set this
bug as invalid.

Unfortunately I'm not able to try to reproduce to show that FreeRDP is wrong as
I don't have any server to connect to.

[frameworks-qqc2-desktop-style] [Bug 391780] New: Qt text rendering is always being used, leading to text looking a little lighter than necessary

top Qt rendering; bottom Native rendering

https://cgit.kde.org/qqc2-desktop-style.git/tree/org.kde.desktop/Label.qml#n36

renderType: Window.devicePixelRatio % 1 !== 0 ? Text.QtRendering :
Text.NativeRendering

However, Window.devicePixelRatio doesn't exist (it would be in the Screen
import, not Window), so the conditional always evaluates to true, so we always
get QtRendering, even at integer scale factors and non-HiDPI. This is what we
want for a non-integer scale factor since the alternative is even worse (see
https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-67007), but for non-hi-dpi and integer
scale factors, we should not use QtRendering, since it results in text that is
ever-so-slightly lighter and wispier, which some very sensitive people can pick
up on. See the attached comparison: the string on the top was rendered with
QtRendering, and the one on the bottom with NativeRendering. Note how the
QtRendering version is slightly lighter.

I plan to submit a patch later today if nobody else beats me to it first.

Error message from Windows

I installed the brand new Kexi 3.1 preview on Windows 10 and tried to open old
files from Kexi 2.8 for Linux. Everything I have tried works good, except
opening and editing forms. There I get the error: Could not load Kexi Form
Widgets plugin file and the path to the file.
As you can see from the attached image the file is there. I use a localized
version of Windows where the Program files folder has a localized name.
If I click OK on the error, sometimes a 100 times, sometimes only three times,
the form works and I do not seem to miss any functionality.

I have previously tried the Kexi appimage from may 2017 on Peppermint Linux
(Ubuntu 16.04) and recieved exactly the same error message there. I will try to
attach an image of that as well.

I ran the command you suggested to set QT_SCREEN_SCALE_FACTORS, and it looks
like this fixed the will (with attach a screenshot in a following comment). Now
the question is: how can this be implemented in Kdenlive so it does this by
default on 4k UHD screen resolutions?

Screenshot example of partial progress in latest Kdenlive 18.08 beta0 appimage
build

UPDATE: Looks like this has been partially fixed in latest builds. Both
"Effects" and "Transitions" tabs now look a lot smoother.
