[valgrind] [Bug 395682] Reading debug info

2018-06-30 Thread Дилян Палаузов
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=395682

For the time being programs can either be linked explicitly with gold:
  gcc -fuse-ld=gold
or switch off the implicitly enabled separate-code on Linux/x86:
  gcc -fuse-ld=bfd -Wl,-z,noseparate-code
or change the default linker by replacing
'/usr/local/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/bin/ld' (the path can be different on your
system), which is a copy of /usr/local/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/bin/ld.bfd, with
/usr/local/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/bin/ld.gold .

[kdeplasma-addons] [Bug 358124] Network applet stops updating

Bzzz changed:

   What|Removed |Added

 CC||misc-kde...@wanhunglo.com

Let's bring this back up and connect it to some older wishlist item...

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=291546 "Network monitor should
(optionally) show only connected devices" was closed recently as it was filed
for KDE4. This is still an, well, issue with KDE5, and I think it is connected
to this bug.

Due to my special snowflake WiFi card that needs attention after every
sleep->wakeup cycle, the Network Monitor applet thingy hangs a lot. I need to
click right on the applet, Configure Network Monitor, select the interface
again (this is also bugged as sometimes it does not show up at first, then gets
refreshed upon hitting Apply, and then works as expected), and then the monitor
resets and does its thing.

If we could do a periodic check which interface is available and up, there
could be an automatic start/stop of newly active/inactive interfaces. This
would also resolve this bug, which to me, sounds closely related. I'm using
traditional horizontal panel layout, so I doubt this is a problem that is
caused by the rotation of the entire panel.

[digikam] [Bug 140374] HTML Gallery export fails to parse xml from non-UTF8 metadata in jpeg

2018-06-30 Thread Alan Aversa

(In reply to caulier.gilles from comment #9)
> Can you provide a full debug trace generated by DK on the console ?
I get plenty of these errors:

gallery.xml:5414: parser error : PCDATA invalid Char value 29

 ^

> Which HTML gallery theme do you use exactly ?
I've tried various themes, and they all produce the same error.

(In reply to caulier.gilles from comment #10)
> Which files naming scheme do you use with your image ?
How do I determine this?

I do not get the bug when using the "Images" image selection method.
The "Albums" image selection method always produces this bug.

[kwin] [Bug 394529] Configure Mouse buttons (Global Shortcuts should accept accept mouse clicks to trigger actions/keypresses/scripts)

2018-06-30 Thread sac
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=394529

>Why are you reopening this ticket? How would a global shortcut help an
>application that expects mouse events
>This will not be fixed in KWin, according to its developers.

I think you're not getting the idea here. Forget about mouse events (no mouse
events in this bug report). The suggestion of the developers was to adjust
global shortcuts.

Currently Global Shortcuts shows the following tooltip:
"Click on the button, then enter the shortcut like you would in the program.
Example for CTRL+A: hold the CTRL key and press A."

Instead the tooltip should say:
"Click on the button, then enter the shortcut like you would in the program on
your keyboard or mouse.
Example for CTRL+A: hold the CTRL key and press A.
Example for righ mouse button: press the right mouse button.
"

In addition, the option to assign a shortcut to several actions would be great.

(yes, I know, just changing a tooltip is only 5% of the work, but maybe this
explains it better. BTW: there are keyboards with a button for a mouse context
menu. So even a mouse context menu can be triggered, if there's an action for
this KEYBOARD BUTTON. Again: no mouse events here, but I'm able to customize my
mouse and am even able to call batch sripts or programs [that might trigger
mouse events, ugh forget that])

[Craft] [Bug 396030] New: Add option to specify compiler on command line to CraftBootstrap.py

2018-06-30 Thread bugzilla_noreply

   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Core
  Assignee: vonr...@kde.org
  Reporter: krichter...@aol.de
CC: kde-wind...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

Adding an option like `--compiler` would avoid the prompt

Select compiler
[0] gcc, [1] clang (Default is gcc):

and facilitate the use on headless CI services (I'm aware that there're other
ways like expect or even easier ones to handle this).

The current output of `./CraftBootstrap.py --help`

usage: CraftSetupHelper [-h] [--root ROOT] [--prefix PREFIX] [--branch
BRANCH]
[--verbose] [--dry-run DRY_RUN] [--no-short-path]
[--version]

optional arguments:
-h, --help show this help message and exit
  --root ROOTDeprecated: use prefix instead.
  --prefix PREFIXThe installation directory.
  --branch BRANCHThe branch to install
  --verbose The verbosity.
--dry-run DRY_RUN Configure the passed CraftSettings.ini and exit.
  --no-short-pathSkip short path setup
--version show program's version number and exit

doesn't provide information for such an option afaik.

The official Ubuntu Docker images are pretty bare systems, however the user
shouldn't be left in any situation without feedback.

Solving https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=396030 might avoid this issue,
however it indicates that an exception case isn't handled well and should be
dealt with nonetheless.

seems like mouse and touchpad settings are in conflict:

when i run `kcminit mouse` it turns natural scrolling off
`kcminit kcm_touchpad` turns it on

since kcm_touchpad settings are applied before, the settings will be
overwritten.

I want to have different settings for mouse and touchpad

it's preposterous that a 250 page document be allowed take up 1 GB of RAM,
especially considering the document itself doesn't take up that much disk space

if you're not going to call it a bug, then a design flaw

also @Albert, we've all got RAM to spare, that doesn't justify inefficiency,
especially when eclipsed in that respect by evince/gnome of all things

   Product: krita
   Version: 4.1.0
Platform: Mac OS X Disk Images
OS: OS X

Hi,

Just downloaded Krita and wanted to test it. Unfortunately it's very unstable
on OSX 10.13.5. The cursor disappears a lot, especially when choosing some
tools from left or right menu, and moving back to drawing area. The cursor is
either completely gone and you can't draw or it's a cursor of "window
resizing".

Prior to the update, the widget displayed as an icon. Clicking on the icon

The cursor getting stuck in another "icon" has been reported (zoom icon,

I can confirm a memory leak on Manjaro KDE with Okular 1.4.2. I've come here
from the reddit discussion:
https://www.reddit.com/r/kde/comments/8v4g5y/extremely_high_ram_usage_by_okular/

4 page document(90KB in size, e-mail with few small images like logos and
icons) using about 28MB RAM when opened.

Repeatedly scrolling up and down this document increases memory usage, I
stopped at 60MB, it's not freeing or re-using existing memory, that doesn't
seem like it's caching content properly.

I imagine one could continue this process until all RAM is used or something
triggers a cleanup. I'm not seeing any noticeable or major memory increase
while the document is idle/inactive, nor CPU usage. When scrolling rapidly
(drag scrollbar top to bottom) CPU usage was initially displaying 9% up to 14%
when I reached 60MB, this value was consistent at increasing steadily with the
RAM. This is probably single-threaded and would cap at 25% requiring more time
to process what should be linear time.

Additional memory should not be allocated like this, there would be a limit if
it were caching properly and utilizing that, the CPU activity is likely
associated with the memory leak.

No primary display chosen in settings manager. I have a laptop with a built in
display that correctly obscures the characters entered for the password, but
the other display, an HDMI a connected Sharp television, shows the characters
in plain text. The behavior started happening randomly, possibly after an
automatic package update. I am not sure, what caused it, and I am not sure if a
reboot will fix it as I am tying this up before rebooting. I will keep the
system in this current state until I can help debug what's happening, unless
someone doesn't get back to me withing 24 hours. Pictures of the behavior are

It turns out that when linking with ld.bfd 2.30 or gold 2.31.51.20180630) 1.16
valgrind can read the debug information, but not when ld.bfd 2.31.51.20180630
is used.

I described at https://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=23357 the whole
case, and uploaded there the produced binaries. Please read it, I don't want
to repeat here the text from there in order keep the total text for the case
shorter. While I filled a PR for ld.bfd, I don't state whether the problem is
in ld.bfd or in valgrind.

[wacomtablet] [Bug 396012] New: Relative mode inaccurate pen/cursor travel distance

2018-06-30 Thread Daniel
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=396012

Bug ID: 396012
Summary: Relative mode inaccurate pen/cursor travel distance
   Product: wacomtablet
   Version: 3.0.0
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: jazzv...@gmail.com
  Reporter: mayazcherq...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

I really have no idea how to word this, but here goes.

I am using a Wacom Intuos Art Medium tablet, along with two monitors. I like to
use relative mode, so the cursor doesn't jump all over the place across one or
two monitors.

However, when using relative mode, the "bounds" of the tablet still seem to be
derived from the screen(s). So the travel distance of the pen is still
significantly larger than what it should be to allow for the user to move from
one side of the tablet area to the other and in so doing will cause the cursor
to traverse across one or both screens.

What I would ideally want, is for one centimetre of travel on the tablet, to
also reflect one centimetre of travel on the screen, regardless of the size of
the screen. This would allow for significantly more accurate drawing, without
e.g. moving one centimetre along the horizontal causing the cursor to move
quite a significant fraction (due to there being dual monitors) whereas moving
along the vertical is much slower.

Sorry if that sounds confusing.

TL;DR: Moving the pen one centimetre in either the horizontal, vertical, or a
combination of both directions, moves the cursor on the screen by that same
amount.

[kxkb] [Bug 396013] New: Keyboard layout limit of 8 is too low

  Target Milestone: ---

Hello. Currently using Kubuntu Bionic with KDE Frameworks 5.44, Plasma 5.12 LTS
and KDE Applications 17.12.3.

Even since Kubuntu Trusty using KDE 4.13.x, the number of maximum keyboard
layouts in the KDE keyboard layout settings has been 8 and trying to add a new
layout after that produces the error: "Only up to 8 keyboard layouts are
supported".

Frankly I don't see the reason for this artificial limitation. I myself know
seven Indian scripts: Tamil, Devanagari, Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam, Grantha
and Brahmi and do need to input all of them at one time or another. I also have
a separate layout for the emoji I use. Which leaves me no space for even
QWERTY, let alone my preferred alternate Latin layout Workman.

I do not see the need for an upper limit on the number of layouts. Is there any
technical reason why there needs to be such a limit?

mean with "bug to pick color from color selector".

[frameworks-kxmlgui] [Bug 395988] KMainWindow saves invalid window/widget state under Qt 5.11.1

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=395988

The patch here https://phabricator.kde.org/D13808

Have tried reproducing this issue using just Qt and their recommendation of
saving window state in closeEvent(), and it works fine like that.
Change introduced in Qt 5.11.1 can make the child widgets hide() during
destruction, but it seems that they always hide after closeEvent() was called.

Patch just makes sure that window settings are not saved at any point after
closeEvent() was accepted.

I'm sorry, but we cannot do anything with this bug report. A bug is something
in Krita's code that we can fix.

This is something that is happening on your system, not something that everyone
experiences.

In order to start guessing what might be up, we'd need to at least know the
version of Krita you're using, what hardware you're using, what else is running
on your system, what size and channel depth your images are working with and
possibly other things as well.

Here are some hints you could start with:

Weird, it's completely instant on my system. I'm not sure what more we could
do, we already spent a couple of rounds optimizing the flood-fill algorithm,
which is what this uses.

OS: MS Windows

screenshot of the grayed out menu

Hello,
I used to use the GPG options and was happy with it.
Unfortunatelly, I had a new computer installed.
I installed Kleopatra with all the options I was using before.
Unfortunatelly, the option to encrypt file "Use GPG Encryption" is grayed out.
I would like to investigate but don't know where to start.
May you please?
Thank you
Greg Greg

[Falkon] [Bug 395805] Accents are not working in Falkon

Please be more precise :
does it means that keys with printed accentuated letter (like é or ù) — direct
accents_—, or keys with printed accents (like ^ or ~) that you press before a
normal letter — composed accents — are not working or both ?

I can confirm that composed accents upper vowels don't work on Facebook (it
works with Firefox), while it work on consonants (like "~" + "n"). Direct
accents work too.

Typing accents with space shows briefly the accent after the sapcebar is
pressed.
