> The users seem scare to click on actions where they are not sure what the
> icon does.

This is the inherent problem with icon-only buttons in all situations. Unless
the icon *very very clearly* communicates what it's going to do when you push
it, a lot of users will be too nervous to push it at all.

Showing an overlay that displays a vertical list of actions with both icons and
text seems like it would be the most humane. We already have a UI for this;
maybe we just need to use it and abandon the "swipe to show inline buttons"
paradigm. Or we could even make the overlay itself appear on swipe, if that
interaction pattern is desired.

this problem isn't bound to any specific project and happens with all smudge

Toni, Nikita thanks for explanation! So may be that will helps to others in
future.

Nikita, I believe if we can not reproduce a lack in app than there is not
enough/detailed information about it: if I can provide you all information
(which may can be shortened analogue of your step-by-step debug process in your
IDE) than may be you can also fix it without ability to reproduce it - just
theoretical fix as you done before if you have enough information about bug and
skills in programming.

I want to try to do it, and if you want to try it too: may be we can fix the
bug?

What information to collect (and how to do it)? The simplest information
increase can be in
journalctl -pX -bY
where X is greater than previous value of 3.
But what is another ways to collect info? But it can be a long-long way to do
it but again with no result guarantee.

   Product: digikam
   Version: 5.9.0
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Import-Albums
  Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: rafael.linux.u...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

After entering to "Import from camera", select the proper photos and select
"Import selected elements" a window to select the album appear, but this time
where should appear the album tree, nothing appeared. I tried three times more
(from step "Import from the camera" with same result. Empty album in monitor,
don't let me select a folder to import photos into.

Even closing the import window and repeating the items.

Reboot Digikam was not an option, cause each time I reboot Digikam, it takes
near 9 minutes to stay ready (as I commented in other thread).

These distinct bugs, makes a newbie linux user to see extremely hard to work
professionaly with Digikam and Linux, cause he need a system that works out of
the box. It's a pity, cause I'm afraid that I'll give up one more time on
trying to move to GNU/GPL software to new potential users.

I can't reproduce the related bug, cause I can't understand why that was happen
and I pray the bug will not happen again, cause this time it's clear the user
will ask me to abandon Linux/Digikam/GIMP.

Thank you for ear me. This is not an reproach, it's only a real story about
fighting with bugs in real world.

Thank you

It could be great to add a nb of days you want to enter the scheduled
transaction before the due date.

So that you can have for example all scheduled transactions entered 1 month
before the due date.

misplaced layout highlight

I don't know the right terms, I call the rectangle when you move a layer a
"layout highlight".

Well, the layout layer is at wrong position when doing this (this is the most
boiled down procedure I could find, maybe there is a shorter one, IDK):

1. Paste an image, like e.g. this one:

https://buzzsharer.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/cute-husky-and-snow.jpg

2. Select transform tool (Ctrl + T)

3. Resize the layer, do not confirm with enter

4. Select move tool (T)

5. Move the layer.

>From now one, the "layout highlight" seems to be misplaced, like this:

https://pasteboard.co/HuhtjVe.png (also added as at attachment here)

When after step 3 we do confirm the transformation, it works fine, but there is
no indication I am supposed to do that.

[krita] [Bug 396474] New: No information about pasting image failure, plus issues when pasting images from Chrome

2018-07-13 Thread konrados
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=396474

Bug ID: 396474
Summary: No information about pasting image failure, plus
issues when pasting images from Chrome
   Product: krita
   Version: 4.1.0
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: General
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: konrad.pap...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

I tried to recognize the pattern when the issue occurs, but still not sure,
here is the one which always fails in my case:

1. In Krita create a new image (in my case this is rgba 1024x1024 8 bits per
channel, where content is a layer with white background).

2. Open this image in Chrome:

https://www.peppercarrot.com/0_sources/ep05_Special-holiday-episode/low-res/en_Pepper-and-Carrot_by-David-Revoy_E05P02.jpg

3. Right click the image, choose 'copy image'

4. Go back to Krita, hit Ctrl+v, or select Edit -> paste

In my case it doesn't work, and I don't see any error message. Funny things:

It works fine when copied from Firefox (always).

It works fine in gimp (always)

-

BTW, when I try to paste something Krita apparently completely doesn't
understand (as far as I understand, I mean something like text when **not**
being in text edit mode) - then I don't see an error saying "unrecognized
format" or something like that and I think there really should be an alert like
that.

Because otherwise user is left wondering "where did it go?", "maybe it pasted
in this 0-opacity layer or something?".

BTW II - thanks the software, it seems very cool (I just started playing with
it today :))

I was able to reproduce this several times on Linux before it stopped working
while testing if you have any unnecessary steps. I had the same assertion but
didn't have enough time to do a stack trace. We also have amyspark on IRC who
was able to reproduce it as well. Confirming this while I go back to testing.

Chromium is another world.
Based on what i saw in other plugins this can be done.

Only few people are interested in such feature
which means it belongs to extensions.

Yes, there is one obvious reason why people would want to resize them: if the
file names are long, they won't show entirely on the ark window.

While it's working correctly in Konsole, I can't configure the translucency or
enable a blurred background in Yakuake at all.

Instead under "Appearance" of the profile settings, I get a warning message
instead of the configuration widgets:

"Konsole was started before desktop effects were enabled. You need to restart
Konsole to see transparent background."

Add location hint for Parts' toolbars

Summary:
Fixes the order of toolbars and the orientation of the navigator
toolbar if other toolbars (except the main toolbar) are enabled.
FIXED-IN: 5.9.0

Test Plan:
Enabled various combinations of toolbars in various kontact components.
Navigator toolbar orientation as well as the toolbars' order is broken
iff the navigator toolbar and any toolbar other than the main toolbar
is enabled without the patch. Everything was fine with the patch.

not be the standard. A test of openSUSE Tumbleweed is pending.

[krita] [Bug 396470] New: "convert to vector selection" is broken

  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: General
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: anim...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

"convert to vector selection" is broken:

-Before, when using this action, a selection with partly-selected pixels would
become all 100% selected, which is very convenient for lots of operations
(example: use Contiguous selection tool to select an area with color
variations, and then user wants this selected area to be all fully selected to
can fully erase it or fill it in one action: "convert to vector selection" is
the only action to do this.)

-Now, "convert to vector selection" seems to have no effect.

And then only workaround to achieve what I explained in example above is to
first convert to selection to shape, and then convert to shape to vector
selection.. which requires lots of user actions, not easy nor convenient...

Chromium has such an extension too and it does not work well. E.g. when
pasting into a text field, I expect that the url is pasted into the text field,
but not that a new page is opened (which happens with the chromium extension).

I am in doubt that the extension api is powerful enough to handle such cases
and think that it belongs into core.

When using "Separate image" with the option "create separate separation from

Expected result: new layers for each channel, including one for alpha channel

Note: it used to work for sure, I used that several times in the past...
Also the two other Alpha options still work fine, only this one seems broken.

I'm using Krita 4.2.0-prealpha (git commit 900c531) on MacOS Sierra 10.12.6.
(Please note that I've enabled the new lock-free hash table.)
File is E04P01.kra from David Revoy's Pepper&Carrot sources.

Steps to follow:

1. Hide all layers except "ink" and "frame".
2. Select "frame", "Rasterize Layer", "Select Opaque", "Invert Selection".
3. Add a paint layer, hide "ink" and then paint the panels with white. Reorder
layers to have "ink" on top of the new paint layer.
4. Finally, convert the image to Gray+Alpha, 8-bit.

This triggers the following assertion:

Hello,
I will try to answer few of your questions.

"What is the "new tab button"?"
- The "'+' New Tab" button on top toolbar works as described.

"The "+" button at the bottom left border (vertical tabs extension)? Pasting
url does not work there."
- The "'+' New Tab" button on "Vertical Tab" extension does not support this
feature

In my opinion this should be done in form of an extension/addon, I was able to
create prototype in one evening, if you desire it I might continue and finish
it.
PS: I was just interested in the idea, thats all.

- What I was doing when the application crashed:
Almost everytime I search an application into the application launcher,

- Unusual behavior I noticed:
Plasmshell is crashing. It is generally restarting by its own. Sometimes (after

I did not find something one my system (Debian Buster) that could cause this
issue. It is also hapenning to two other of my collegues (same distribution).
