To continue: The fact that it's now owned by Microsoft, which is one of our competitors, makes even less likely. It's a non-negotiable. Git*Lab* is a more likely option, and there is a vocal contingent of KDE contributors who would prefer it. The best way to advance this position would be to become a KDE Contributor yourself and make the case. That case cannot be made here in the bug tracker since bug trackers are for small actionable bugs and feature requests, not for ongoing open-ended discussions. [okular] [Bug 378449] Fall back to PDF when file type cannot be inferred from extension or MIME type
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=378449 --- Comment #17 from Jonathan Verner --- (In reply to Albert Astals Cid from comment #16) > Pointing to lines of code is bad, he pretends like he understands the code, > which he doesn't, so it makes him less credible. I know some user comments may be frustrating, but IMHO a reply implying bad faith ("pretends") and lack of skill ("he doesn't understand code") does more damage than good and goes against the KDE code of conduct. I'd suggest you ignore the bug if the user comments brush you the wrong way and you can't reply in a positive way (which is HARD, I admit). As far as the bug goes, I can now reproduce it. The problem seems to be that okular only looks at the contents when the etension either is not registered in the system mimetype database at all or it is registered to a mimetype which Okular has a plugin for. If it is and the extension does not correspond to the file contents, okular fails opening the file: $ okular test.pdf $ mv test.pdf test.ods $ okular test.ods $ mv test.ods test.non_registered_ext $ okular test.non_registered_ext $ mv test.non_registered_ext test.txt $ okular test.txt Only the third line fails for me (because ods is registered as an extension of mime type 'application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.spreadsheet' on my system and okular has no plugin for it) > provide a patch that fixes the issue for him, he should stop pointing to the > code and start trying to help us reproduce the issue. Actually, pointing to the code made it easier for me to go over it (I wouldn't bother without the link). It seems there really is a bug there: https://github.com/KDE/okular/blob/21836ba072b2d4189f1257af06c11f134f2edc31/core/document.cpp#L2417 should use the 'QMimeDatabase::MatchContent' mode instead of 'QMimeDatabase::MatchExtension'. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[krita] [Bug 399259] New: "On-disk" Animation Cache storage backend breaks animation playback
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=399259 Bug ID: 399259 Summary: "On-disk" Animation Cache storage backend breaks animation playback Product: krita Version: 4.1.3 Platform: Archlinux Packages OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Animation Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: kiwiblaster...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY After recently attempting to create a new animation, I noticed that the playback would at times not reflect changes made in the key frames of a given layer despite those changes being visible by "stepping" through with the frame-by-frame controls. The results were variable. At first, it seemed that changing the "End" frame value would cause the problem, though later testing demonstrated that this was inconsistent. The behavior was as follows: the first frame would display, then it would iterate through several (though, not all and sometimes none) of the frames prior to the chosen end frame --- at which point, it would freeze on that final frame no matter what keys followed it. However, it would still run the duration of the animation as set by the end frame; it just wouldn't update the displayed image. Again, stepping through with the frame-by-frame controls still revealed the changes. I messed around a bit, thinking it had something to do with the scaling mode. I noticed that changing this setting would cause the entire display to turn black when playback was started. While that is likely a separate issue, it tipped me off to the possibility that this was a caching issue. And, upon finding that the program was using on-disk caching, I set it to "In-Memory," which appears to have resolved the issue. Long story short: I believe the On-disk caching method might not be updating correctly when either the Start and End values are changed, though it occasionally breaks even when these are not changed. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. (Krita should default to On-disk animation caching...) 2. If not, Settings->Configure Krita->Performance->Animation Cache: Set Backend to On-disk 3. Attempt animating for a while --- the occurrence of this potential bug is inconsistent, but frequent. OBSERVED RESULT Playback does not update to include new key frames --- it instead freezes on either the first or "last" frame. The "last" frame tends not to be the actual end of the animation, but one specified as the End value previously (though this value may have changed, the "last" frame does not). EXPECTED RESULT Playback of the animation as intended. [gwenview] [Bug 399189] Quick sort tab in the style of Geeqie sort manager
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=399189 --- Comment #4 from Ariel Rosenfeld --- its a one click way to copy or move that doesnt require dialog boxes when sorting to fixed locations with custom names, its helpful when having to work with large amounts of pictures to be able to sort them quickly to other image folders that are not relevant when not working with pictures since the locations are fixed you dont need to wait for an external drive to spin up or a network drive to respond when simply opening a file dialog to copy or move to a local internal drive in the bottom there is a quick undo buttom in case you made a mistake if you have a folder of a thousand family photos you want to sort by who is in the picture or if you recovered files from a dying drive and want to sort many pictures it just saves time it makes managing image collection simpler its very much like a file tag but uses a drive location as the common destination -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kmail2] [Bug 399245] Restore UI functionality related to "Show HTML side bar"
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=399245 --- Comment #3 from pqz --- Sorry for the name (author) related misunderstanding (for some reason I though you are one of the git committers, but I admit I did not check git logs). The current ticket does not reinstate bug 393421, is just describing the situation created by the change in the standard (default) settings dialog. The ticket does not suggest to restore the previous code, is just asking for a way to achieve the same functionality and that may be through a plugin or direct in standard settings dialog. What is the "duplicated effort" here? We mean somebody will "work" again then "triage" and close this ticket also ? [digikam] [Bug 399220] Several properties sidebars (right side in main view) unusable without selecting an image
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=399220 IWBR changed: What|Removed |Added CC||iwannaber...@gmail.com --- Comment #2 from IWBR --- Just me chiming in. I think a good idea would be to display information about all elements in the folder or tag when no picture is selected (that's the default behavior in some other picture managers). For instance, showing all the tags present in that album/folder, or all the locations on the map, etc. At least it's more useful than showing nothing at all. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kmail2] [Bug 399245] Restore UI functionality related to "Show HTML side bar"
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=399245 Störm Poorun changed: What|Removed |Added CC||s...@olan.org --- Comment #1 from Störm Poorun --- Great. Though it's not clear why the previous bug couldn't be converted to a 'feature request' and re-opened? That would be preferable given the subscribers and comments are already associated with that Bug. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=393421 When most Users use their email app they do not expect to a) view on each email a hideous line which should have stayed in the 1990s, which a user may not need and can't turn off b) view a warning box on each email, which can't be turned off (except on each email individually). "Note: This HTML message may contain external references to images etc. For security/privacy reasons external references are not loaded. If you trust the sender of this message then you can load the external references for this message by clicking here." This is an affront to Users a terrible impact on workflow, those dealing with casual email will find it intrusive enough. Those dealing with thousands of messages a day do not need that message in a red box taking priority on each email they read. There needs to be settings: a) in the menu (like there was previously) to hide the warnings b) in the menu to display html c) in a pop up if a user closes the message, enable them to hide the warnings in future d) in a pop up if a users chooses to view .html mail, to permit them to autodisplay .html mail in future e) make the toggle bar less intrusive and less abrubt -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
