https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=399727 --- Comment #2 from jo.lemaitresa...@gmail.com --- (In reply to Kai Uwe Broulik from comment #1) > This is separate from hybrid-sleep I presume? Yes. If I understood well, hybrid-sleep means that a suspend action is performed, with an additional save to disk of the ram content (as if we hibernated). Meaning that if the power goes off (or the battery deplete in the case of a laptop), the memory content will still be available on reboot (transforming suspend into hibernate). In the case of laptops without S3, that means that the battery will be depleted as with suspend, which is avoided with suspend-then-hibernate. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[krita] [Bug 399820] New: Implement Metal support as OpenGL is deprecated on OS X
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=399820 Bug ID: 399820 Summary: Implement Metal support as OpenGL is deprecated on OS X Product: krita Version: 4.1.5 Platform: Mac OS X Disk Images OS: OS X Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: General Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: afonsec...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY Apple has deprecated OpenGL support for the Mac OS X platform and the API is no longer supported. Although still functional, it may cease to be included in future releases of the operating system. This bug is to report this change and advise implementation of the Metal API for continued support of Krita on the OS X platform. Please refer to Apple's note in the OpenGL programming guide: "Important OpenGL was deprecated in macOS 10.14. To create high-performance code on GPUs, use the Metal framework instead." https://developer.apple.com/library/archive/documentation/GraphicsImaging/Conceptual/OpenGL-MacProgGuide/opengl_intro/opengl_intro.html They refer developers to use the Metal API referenced here: https://developer.apple.com/metal/ Additional information regarding Apple's deprecation warning: "Deprecations Periodically, Apple adds deprecation macros to APIs to indicate that those APIs should no longer be used in active development. When a deprecation occurs, it’s not an immediate end of life for the specified API. Instead, it is the beginning of a grace period for transitioning from that API and to newer and more modern replacements. Deprecated APIs typically remain present and usable in the system for a reasonable time past the release in which they were deprecated. However, active development on them ceases, and the APIs receive only minor changes to accommodate security patches or to fix other critical bugs. Deprecated APIs may be removed entirely from a future version of the operating system. As a developer, avoid using deprecated APIs in your code as soon as possible. At a minimum, new code you write should never use deprecated APIs. And if your existing code uses deprecated APIs, update that code as soon as possible." Reference: https://developer.apple.com/macos/whats-new/ STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open Krita 2. Go to menu Krita->Preferences->Display OBSERVED RESULT Observe Canvas Graphics Acceleration option Renderer lists OpenGL and Metal is not an option. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=398689 --- Comment #20 from Alberto --- Thank you for the update. I have a couple of questions regarding the bug status and process as I'm still getting up to speed here. 1. Was someone able to isolate the specific OpenGL API call that is not working as it's supposed to on a Mac OS Nvidia GPU? Do we have sufficient information to resolve this bug? 2. If indeed it is a bug in Nvidia's driver on OS X, is there no code workaround possible? I have not encountered a similar bug on other paint/image editing applications on my Mac with this GPU. 3. Although Apple no longer ships new MacBook's with Nvidia GPU's, they are still supported by Apple (I just updated my own Nvidia MacBook to MacOS Mojave). Off-topic here sorry. But: MSP 16 has an nvidia GPU, so when the GPU is stressed, it will automatically switch to the NV GPU, therefore avoiding intel GPU's overheating problem under Linux. I have been testing a few workarounds and they seems to work by suppressing CPU package's power cap. [krita] [Bug 399748] Selection tools need a non-interpolation outline mode to work with pixel art
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=399748 --- Comment #3 from Tyson Tan --- Yeah I can't put my finger on it but I did feel I was missing something...sorry for the false alarm! On the other hand... As we default to Vector Mode, where the Anti-aliasing checkbox cannot be seen, the discoverability of this function has become an issue. I know I was dumb and all that, but the fact I missed the checkbox still reflects the difficulty that new users would have finding the function. Do you think we can add a note at the bottom of the Selection Tool's options, saying: "Note: You can only turn off Anti-aliasing in Pixel Selection Mode" -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[kdeconnect] [Bug 371224] SMS Text Message Appears on Desktop Only
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=371224 --- Comment #3 from Peter Humphries --- I have not tested it, recently, but revisiting this bug report makes be wonder if KDE Connect is responsible for some other odd SMS behaviours, especially missed messages (even though "Notification Sync" and "Telephony notifier" are turned off). I will make a note to test it, and I will report back. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

I go to setting-configure toolbar-and add the stabalizer, the normal brush smoother, and the weight brush smoother. when I close the app they aren't there anymore and when I go to fix it there aren't there in the filter. So I have to create another document to add it. I think the problem is, the fact that you have to make a new document to add them. so if you you add the smoothers to part where you don't even have to make a new document when is the homescreen. I think it will be fixed. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. press setting-configure toolbar-add brush smoothers(stabalizer, normal, weigher) 2. [kwin] [Bug 399801] [usability] Default configuration: "Active screen follows mouse"
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=399801 --- Comment #4 from Nate Graham --- One potential problem with switching defaults is that sometimes the optimal choice isn't represented by any of them. In such a case, changing them around will simply benefit some at the expense of others, when what's really needed is more design work to arrive at something that's better for everyone (or at least most people). For example, while the "Under mouse" placement mode would solve the problem of the window opening on the wrong screen, you may not actually want it to be directly under the cursor, and a different placement mode within that screen may be preferable. There is currently (to my knowledge) no option for "always open new window on the screen with the mouse, but otherwise respect the specified Placement mode". One option I would personally like is "on the screen with the mouse cursor, centered, with additional windows cascading if more are opened." Such a thing is not possible today. Initial window placement is probably a subject that needs to be looked at more in depth by VDG rather than just changing the default settings from one to another. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[dolphin] [Bug 399806] "Extract" submenu won't show op on compressed files without extension
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=399806 Elvis Angelaccio changed: What|Removed |Added Version Fixed In||18.08.3 Status|REPORTED|RESOLVED Latest Commit||https://commits.kde.org/ark ||/73cb424832891341436bd5 ||3ea1c35764f0cd Resolution|--- |FIXED --- Comment #1 from Elvis Angelaccio --- Git commit 73cb424832891341436bd53ea1c35764f0cd by Elvis Angelaccio. Committed on 14/10/2018 at 19:50. Pushed by elvisangelaccio into branch 'Applications/18.08'. Show 'Extract' menu on archives without extension determineMimeType() needs the absolute path of the archive, otherwise the QFileInfo::isReadable() check will always return false (it will then fallback to `mimeFromExtension`, but that's also invalid if the archive doesn't have an extension).
