https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=401576 --- Comment #16 from leftcrane --- Oh yeah, I forgot all the dark theme apps. So it's actually way more than ten apps (I have a rule for those though). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[systemsettings] [Bug 401576] kwin rules for app-specific color themes: facilitate color matching between titlebar and app color
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=401576 --- Comment #15 from leftcrane --- Oh these apps don't follow any system color scheme (different toolkit, or it's a text editor or terminal). And there is mismatch built into some gtk and kvantum themes, that shows up under certain circumstances, though that's another issue. It all looks pretty bad it's just too much work to fix it using the current method. I think it'd be worth it, as frivolous as it sounds. One of the upsides of Gnome CSD is that the the chrome and decoration are in sync with each other. Looks much more professional and offers some possibilities to developers. Such a thing could be done for SSD too, and it might become even more relevant for KWin if DWD ever materializes. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[systemsettings] [Bug 401576] kwin rules for app-specific color themes: facilitate color matching between titlebar and app color
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=401576 --- Comment #13 from leftcrane --- Yeah, I see the problem with video players, for example. But these would be these exception. Currently, I have non-matching titlebar/chrome for about 10 apps on my system. To get them to match, I'd have to perform 260 actions with keyboard and mouse using three separate dialogs. With the proposed manual method, it'd be max 50 actions using one dialog (one could optimize it down to 20). So I'd say the proposed manual method would make matching at least doable for the user. But if no then no. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[systemsettings] [Bug 401576] kwin rules for app-specific color themes: facilitate color matching between titlebar and app color
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=401576 Nate Graham changed: What|Removed |Added Resolution|--- |INTENTIONAL Status|REPORTED|RESOLVED --- Comment #12 from Nate Graham --- To be honest I don't see this happening. Having KWin sample the window colors and match them with the titlebar's color automatically opens a huge can of worms. What do we do about games and other "windowed full screen" apps? Or apps that have no chrome and draw multiple colors right below where the titlebar goes? Etc. It just can't work. Adding an API would be pointless since practically nobody would use it, defeating the point. Allowing users to override titlebar colors on a per-app basis doesn't strike me as a feature useful enough to implement outside of the normal color scheme mechanics. The poor-man's way to accomplish that right now is to create custom color schemes that differ only by titlebar colors, and use KWin rules to force specific apps/windows to use them. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[systemsettings] [Bug 401576] kwin rules for app-specific color themes: facilitate color matching between titlebar and app color
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=401576 --- Comment #10 from leftcrane --- a) Having KWin do all the work would of course be ideal (the user would still be able to override just like they do now with rules). Capture the inactive and active window chrome at every launch, or capture once at first launch? I can see a problem with the second scenario, since themes and dark/light modes change. Maybe also have an API so the app can directly tell KWin what colors to use? (Of course most will never use it, sadly, but some might.) b) Having the user define the color is less than ideal, but if we have the user defining the color, they should only have to define one value (unless they want to define more, for whatever reason). Both options are an improvement on the current way of doing things, your call. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=402172 --- Comment #2 from Fabian Vogt --- I debugged this a bit. [kwin] [Bug 402175] New: Poor web video performance with compositing enabled
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=402175 Bug ID: 402175 Summary: Poor web video performance with compositing enabled Product: kwin Version: 5.12.7 Platform: Kubuntu Packages OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: minor Priority: NOR Component: compositing Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: superrobowizard+kdeb...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY Running web videos consumes obscene quantities of GPU horsepower, proportional to the on-screen resolution of the video viewport. Smaller viewports, such as 640x360, run at a smooth 60FPS, but get progressively choppier as they are scaled, to the point where fullscreened content (3840x2160) displays at about 1 FPS. According to radeontop, scaling videos larger quickly pins the GPU usage to 100% (and I can hear the fans spin up). The issue does not occur when playing video using mpv, or playing OpenGL video games at full resolution. Disabling the compositor resolves the issue, and setting it to xrender instead of OGL actually improves performance slightly. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open the Discord desktop client 2. Open a video in fullscreen OR 1. Open Firefox 2. Open any web video (youtube, reddit, dailymotion, basically anything) in fullscreen Note: this issue does not occur in Chromium, as it does not support hardware acceleration. OBSERVED RESULT Video performance tanks to ~1FPS, GPU pinned to 100% utilization EXPECTED RESULT Video remains at 60FPS, GPU utilization is under 25% SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux: Kubuntu 18.04, Linux 4.19.8-041908-generic (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.12.7 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.47.0 Qt Version: 5.9.5 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I am using an RX480 with the amdgpu-pro-18.40-97810 drivers, 16GB of RAM, and an R5 2400G with the graphics disabled in the UEFI. I have also tested on a laptop with an identical software configuration, an i7 6650U with 8GB of RAM, and a 2736x1824 display. The issue does not occur on this device. Given that it does not occur on the other device, I can't be sure that it's not a driver issue, but given that OGL games work fine, I suspect it's the compositor. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[KEXI] [Bug 396999] Kexi file is not recognized as being supported by Kexi in fedora 28, but is fine with fedora 27
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=396999 --- Comment #6 from Jarosław Staniek --- Hi @therapon. Thanks for your log. 1. It helped me to realize 3.1.0 has "kexi" binary while it should be "kexi-3.1". Next version will have it fixed (3.2). 2. Also from the log /usr/share/mime/application/vnd.sqlite3.xml is tries to find type of the .kexi file but I am unsure it matters. 3. If possible could you please run this command which is close equivalent of clicking on the kexi document file: strace kde-open5 dbname.kexi > startup.log 2>&1 ? - to see if the kexi document is opened. If not, the startup.log can be interesting to me. 4. I am also interested if changing line kexi to line kexi-3.1 helps in /usr/share/metainfo/org.kde.kexi-3.1.appdata.xml. 5. Possible manual workaround for you could be that e.g. in Dolphin file manager you right click kexi document, click Properties, click File Type Options, then click Add, and pick kexi-3.1 binary. This can change file association. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[krfb] [Bug 401994] Cannot launch krfb's interface
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=401994 --- Comment #3 from jlb --- On a clean install, I have the same problem. The only unconventional part is that I had disabled kwallet I guess. I re-enabled kwallet. Again, if I kill krfb, start it, use the "Enable Desktop Sharing" password, I can see the session remotely after accepting RFB (VNC) on the host. But this password changes on reboot. I would like to use the "Unattended Access" password but it is not saved through reboot... Where is this saved? How can I troubleshoot, any help welcomed! -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
