[plasmashell] [Bug 403666] Can't pin GUI applications started by script

2019-02-05 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=403666

--- Comment #2 from michal.kone...@packetseekers.eu ---
Desktop file is executing 'teamspeak' script which starts ts3client_run.sh.
ts3client_run.sh is setting few env variables and then starting the correct
executable for 32 or 64 bit.

I saw the same behavior on another flatpak
(https://github.com/flathub/com.bluejeans.BlueJeans), which is using the
similar exec script in desktop file.

SUMMARY
Today I noticed SystemTray widget uses 8 gigabytes of RAM from the moment it
gets loaded. (Tried on Plasma Panel, Latte Dock and on desktop)

Two days ago qt framework got updated, so that can be the source of this issue.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Add systemtray widget anywhere. (On desktop itself, Latte Dock or Panel)
2. Check memory usage from KsysGaurd

OBSERVED RESULT
Huge Memory Consumption (Around 8 gigabytes)

EXPECTED RESULT

[frameworks-kfilemetadata] [Bug 403710] baloo_file_Extractor crash at startup in KFileMetaData::TagLibExtractor::extract()

2019-02-05 Thread Bruno Friedmann
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=403710

Hi Nate, thanks for the pointer. I will try to reproduce it, but it will be
certainly hard.

I'm using autologin function in sddm (aferwards my laptop is fully encrypted,
with password to pass the bios step + password in grub to open the luks
container). What I've seen is that baloo_file_extractor crash dialog box is the
first one appearing on the desktop (plasma didn't finished its initialization).
At the time of the crash, I didn't have a konsole or a desktop ready.

So I will try to reproduce it once the desktop is opened with a start stop of
baloo.

Last crash reproduced this morning (no internet connection available)

Application: Baloo File Extractor (baloo_file_extractor), signal: Segmentation

ok, you are probably using as me plasma<=5.14, I think this has been updated in
plasma 5.15, meaning that /etc/xdg/taskmanagerrulesrc contains a record:
Gimp-2.10=GIMP

BUT you can also try the following that I also propose:
1. At your /usr/share/applications/gimp.desktop add the following record:
StartupWMClass=gimp-2.10

OR
2.
2a. cp /usr/share/applications/gimp.desktop
~/.local/share/applications/gimp.desktop
2b. add in ~/.local/share/applications/gimp.desktop the following record:
StartupWMClass=gimp-2.10

I propose [2] because in [1] if you update Gimp you wont have to redo [1] again

welcome to high-res gimp icon...

[plasmashell] [Bug 403987] New: Plasma crashes after reusing KDE .config OpenSUSE 42.3 -> SUSE 15.0 but also after cleaning up dir.

2019-02-05 Thread bugzilla_noreply

Bug ID: 403987
Summary: Plasma crashes after reusing KDE .config OpenSUSE 42.3
-> SUSE 15.0 but also after cleaning up dir.
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.12.6
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Keywords: drkonqi
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk
  Reporter: ssts...@wp.pl
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: 1.0

Application: plasmashell (5.12.6)

Qt Version: 5.9.4
Frameworks Version: 5.45.0
Operating System: Linux 4.12.14-lp150.12.45-default x86_64
Distribution: "openSUSE Leap 15.0"

-- Information about the crash:
- Custom settings of the application:
KWin5 got OpenSTEP custom theme, but regardless of using Breeze right now, KDE
apps suych as Main Menu customizer, Plasma applet customize, Window border
customizer crashed each time. Although it happened after /home/user dir reused
after clean SUSE install. This shouldn't happen. Changed user rights, removed
.config dir, but regardless this crap still crashes, at the beginning startup
screen refused to show, startup scripts were probably invalid or KWin refused
to lunch.
LXQT worked, XFCE worked (reused settings) but not KDE

The crash can be reproduced every time.

1. I expect this as a user point of view. But not sure what is developers point
of view.
2. Yes, actually it is reproducible with standard panel.
2.1. cp /usr/share/applications/gimp.desktop $HOME/Desktop/gimp.desktop
2.2. chmod +x $HOME/Desktop/gimp.desktop
2.3. drag the gimp.desktop file on Desktop and drop it to taskbar
2.4. launch gimp
Gimp pinned icon will still be there while gimp is started.
If we replace that "desktoped" icon with "global" icon, it would be disappeared
while gimp is running.
Note: we are speaking about pinning desktop files. It is possible to place gimp
widget there which is always shown and it is normal.

1. are you sure this should happen?
2. Latte is not using its own mechanism to support launchers and their
identification, it uses plasma libtaskmanager. That means that you should be
able to reproduce this with plasma taskmanagers as well

>From my knowledge launchers can be placed only at two official places:

/usr/share/applications (global)
~/.local/share/applications (home folder)

and at the same time the home folder desktop files have higher priority that
the global folder

[latte-dock] [Bug 403984] New: Application launcher is using a low-resolution icon

2019-02-05 Thread Ashark
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=403984

Bug ID: 403984
Summary: Application launcher is using a low-resolution icon
   Product: latte-dock
   Version: 0.8.5
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: application
  Assignee: mvourla...@gmail.com
  Reporter: ash...@linuxcomp.ru
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
In FAQ there is such a question, which suggests you to add StartupWMClass to
desktop file with corresponding value. But it doesn't work. Its said that
plasma developers have taken special care to map gimp's wm_class through
/etc/xdg/taskmanagerrulesrc, but gimp's icon is still pixelated.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Unpin gimp application if pinned
2. Launch gimp
3. Gimp icon will appear in dock

OBSERVED RESULT
Icon is very low resolution

EXPECTED RESULT
Icon should be high resolution

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: Arch Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 5.14.5
Qt Version: 5.12.1
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.54.0
latte-dock 0.8.5-1

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Also tested with Davinci Resolve and also checked with adding
StartupWMClass=resolve to its desktop file - the same result.

I tried reproducing the issue and I was able to resize the image with both the
sides. Also, the image can be resized upto 999% of original image which was
greater than 4000px.

When we right click on the bar, it turns into an input box, so we don't need to
implement that.

There can be other fetures like some predefined set of dimensions and some user
configurable dimensions which they use frequently. Also, having more units like
cm or inches would be great for the user.

This is not meant this way.

The taskbar should sort the entries in the taskbar in the right order.

e.g.:
Desktop 1 free
Dolphin and terminal on desktop 2
Firefox on desktop 3
Thunderbird on desktop 4

In the taskbar, the "icons" are sorted in the following way:
Dolphin, Firefox, Terminal and Thunderbird

and should be

Dolphin, Terminal, Firefox and Thunderbird.

What starts to puzzle me about this whole discussion is that no one ever took
the trouble of explaining why this bar had to be fixed. Why so many faithful
users had to be "kicked against the sore leg" as we say in my country.
It seems to me that there must be a really simple and good explanation to take
a measure that harsh that also ruins the looks of your application.
What is this reason? Please explain.

[latte-dock] [Bug 403983] New: Duplication of icons when used pinned desktop file was from another location

2019-02-05 Thread Ashark
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=403983

Bug ID: 403983
Summary: Duplication of icons when used pinned desktop file was
from another location
   Product: latte-dock
   Version: 0.8.5
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: application
  Assignee: mvourla...@gmail.com
  Reporter: ash...@linuxcomp.ru
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
In some cases we can see that application's pinned icon is independent from its
launched icon. It happens when you used desktop file from non-standard
location (i.e. not from /usr/share/applications). Adding
StartupWMClass=something to desktop file does not solve the problem.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. cp /usr/share/applications/gimp.desktop $HOME/Desktop/gimp.desktop
2. chmod +x $HOME/Desktop/gimp.desktop
3. drag the gimp.desktop file on Desktop and drop it to latte dock
4. launch gimp

OBSERVED RESULT
When gimp starts, another icon will appear in dock

EXPECTED RESULT
Pinned icon should be highlighted, second icon should not be appeared

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: Arch Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 5.14.5
Qt Version: 5.12.1
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.54.0
latte-dock 0.8.5-1

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Second icon appears pixelated, but it is another bug.

[Breeze] [Bug 379637] breeze-gtk should draw shadows for client-side-decorated windows

2019-02-05 Thread Martin Flöser
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=379637

My estimate for option 3 on X11 was about half a year of development effort
with huge potential to break. Basically adding support for this breaks a core
assumption of the compositor: x pixmap size equals window size. We support
adding to the window, just subtracting was never thought of. Window placement,
resizing, etc. all is based on the x window geometry. We use the variable in
thousands of places - every usage meds to be checked for whether it's meant
visually or as geometry.

The reason that KWin doesn't support it is not that I don't like csd, but that
we didn't have the time to develop it and that I am afraid of the potential
breakage.

The assumption is deep inside KWin - due to that we also don't support this on
Wayland. In the standardization of xdg shell I raised several times the
concerns that our code base doesn't support this concept. My concerns were
ignored. I tried to write ShellClient in a way that the assumption doesn't hurt
that much, but currently it's still there.

Personally I would prefer if we would not try to implement option 3 for X11. By
the time we have it the switch to Wayland might be finished and what's left is
a broken X11 window manager. I will not review any change as the experience
brought me close to burn out. Our design philosophy is form follows function. I
think a working window manager is more important than good looking csd windows.

SUMMARY
I have run into an issue where every time I try and retrieve email from an
Office 365 email account using EWS it hangs at "Retrieving collection tree".

I have restarted the EWS resource, akonadi and kontact multiple times to no
avail.

In the logging I see it is able to fetch all of the emails, but none get
displayed, presumably because it is stuck retrieving the collection tree.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Configure an EWS account with a lot of email in it
2. Try and synchronize to that account
3. Watch it get stuck at "Retrieving collection tree"

OBSERVED RESULT
It gets stuck retrieving the collection tree. I do not see any messages in
the log indicating why it is stuck (or where for that matter).

EXPECTED RESULT
I expect it to complete

[Discover] [Bug 403492] [Feature request] Add package name to package description

Discover aspires to hide these kinds of details from the user. Though I suppose
it's gotten fairly diluted since Discover can now show you an app's
dependencies which is a pretty technical piece of information. Undecided on
this.

No other widget asks for confirmation before removal, so this would be
inconsistent--and annoying, too. Instead, when you remove a widget, a
notification pops up with an undo button that allows you to undo the removal.
If you miss the notification, it's there in your notification system tray
widget. So it's easy to recover if you accidentally remove it.

[Akonadi] [Bug 403981] New: EWS resource needs to be able to specify identity to use

2019-02-05 Thread Aaron Williams
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=403981

Bug ID: 403981
Summary: EWS resource needs to be able to specify identity to
use
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: EWS Resource
  Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: aar...@doofus.org
CC: kri...@op.pl
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
I have several email accounts, one for home (IMAP) and one for work (EWS).
While I can specify which identity to use for IMAP, I am unable to specify
which identity to use for EWS so it uses the default. This requires that I
set my default identity to my work identity.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Microsoft Exchange Configuration
2. Look through the tabs
3. Notice that there is no way to specify which identity to use

OBSERVED RESULT

EXPECTED RESULT
In the IMAP configuration in the advanced tab I am able to specify
which identity should be used. EWS needs this same configuration.

[partitionmanager] [Bug 403980] New: Partition manager crashes with segmentation fault when finished moving or resizing partitions

2019-02-05 Thread Bruce Blore
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=403980

Bug ID: 403980
Summary: Partition manager crashes with segmentation fault when
finished moving or resizing partitions
   Product: partitionmanager
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Kubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: stiko...@kde.org
  Reporter: brucebl...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
I am in the process of migrating my system from Debian to Kubuntu. I used the
Kubuntu LiveCD (which contained the partition editor) to delete the old root
and swap partitions, move and shrink the old home partition, and grow the new
root partition. All partitions were ext4 except the swap partition, and my disk
has MBR partitioning because my laptop does not properly support UEFI booting.
At the end of both of the move/resize operations, the editor crashed with a
segmentation fault. Because it crashed right at the end both times, no data was
lost. I didn't have this account when it happened, but I can get a backtrace if
it happens again when I finish my partitioning later.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open the partition editor
2. Use the move and resize operation on a partition
3. Click the apply button and wait until it finishes. It seems to happen every
time.

OBSERVED RESULT
All operations up to and including the first move and resize operation are
performed successfully, then the editor crashes with a segmentation fault.

EXPECTED RESULT
All of my partitioning operations being completed and the editor not crashing.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux: Kubuntu 18.10 livecd
(I'm not 100% sure what's on the livecd, the software below is on my Kubuntu
18.10 installation, so I'm guessing it's the same there, I'll post an update if
it isn't)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.13.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.50.0
Qt Version: 5.11.1

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I have more partitioning to do. If I can reproduce the error and get a

Seems like a quirk with the Kirigami scrollview?

Yeah, keyboard navigation in the apps lists and between the sidebar and the

Actually, what should happen here is that the "remove" button for a source
should be disabled while that source is currently being used to install an
app--or even just while any installation or upgrade operation is in progress.

I tried adding "enabled: !resourcesModel.isBusy" and "enabled:
!appsModel.isBusy" to the action but neither of those had any effect.

[frameworks-ktexteditor] [Bug 403868] Bottom of text lines is sometimes cut off

2019-02-05 Thread Thomas Schöps
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=403868

Could it be that the real issue here is that there is a mismatch between the
line height used in KTextEditor and the line height used internally in Qt for
drawing? I had a look at
https://github.com/qt/qtbase/blob/5.12/src/gui/text/qtextlayout.cpp (line 2270
at the moment) where the text height is set as:

qreal height = maxY + fontHeight - minY;

with fontHeight:
qreal fontHeight = font.ascent() + font.descent();

For testing I then replaced the font height setting in
KateRenderer::updateFontHeight() to match this with:

m_fontHeight = qMax(1, qCeil(config()->fontMetrics().ascent() +
config()->fontMetrics().descent()));

The old resulting value was 14, the new one 15. From some short testing it
seems that this makes the related issues disappear (at least for the font that
is used on my system by default). I don't have more time to look into this
right now though. The Qt code also seems to have a mechanism to adjust the font
height according to the glyphs somehow (with maxY and minY).

[Oxygen] [Bug 403978] New: oxygen theme incompatible with qt5 5.12.1-1 libs

2019-02-05 Thread Potomac
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=403978

Bug ID: 403978
Summary: oxygen theme incompatible with qt5 5.12.1-1 libs
   Product: Oxygen
   Version: 5.14.5
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: unassigned-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: mister.free...@laposte.net
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
I use archlinux,
since a recent update of qt5 packages (to the 5.12.1-1 version) I notice that
kde-plasma is broken if the oxygen theme is used,

the desktop displays but the mouse doesn't move, and the harddisk led blink for
a long time, the entire system seems frozen (but I can open a terminal with
ctrl-alt-f2),

if I downgrade qt5 to the previous version (5.12.0) then the oxygen theme is
usable, no bugs,

and If I use the default theme (breeze) then no problem with the last version
of qt5 libs (5.12.1-1)

so there is an incompatibility between oxygen 5.14.5 and qt5 5.12.1-1

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. install kde plasma 5.14.5
2. use the oxygen theme 5.14.5
3. update to the last qt5 lib release version (5.12.1-1)
4. reboot your system
5. you will notice that kde-plasma hangs when desktop is displayed (mouse
frozen)

OBSERVED RESULT
the desktop is frozen, we can not move the mouse, harddisk led blinks a long
time

EXPECTED RESULT
kde plasma should not frozen when oxygen theme is used with the last version of
qt5 (5.12.1-1)

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows:
MacOS:
Linux/KDE Plasma: archlinux 64 bits, kde plasma 5.14.5
(available in About System)

Qt Version: 5.12.1

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I use radeon HD4650 pci-e graphic card, with the open source driver (radeon),
