[kdenlive] [Bug 404278] timeline refactor 2019-02-13_Saved files corrupt

2019-02-14 Thread Evert Vorster
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=404278

Hi there.

I loaded a project that was made with an older version of kdenlive.

I see now that the newer version has dynamic placement of audio tracks, which
is nice.

I suspect that this feature is what is causing the invalid audio clip error I
am seeing when I save this project as a new file and try to open it again, as
all the audio clips were manually placed in that older project.

I can see now that my bug description was wrong, and I do apologize for the
confusion.

Yes, thanks, I know; I was wondering if I'd overlooked a convenient way to
switch between having one and two desktops, since it seems impossible with the
keyboard and impossible with the pager. Hotcorner and mouse-work seems to be
the only convenient method, if it's enabled. Or "editing" the panel/dock, I
guess. Browsing through the settings every time is not convenient.

One option for how to address this: We could add a static to the Pager backend

No, I don't think the latest revision of the theme resolves this.

I have found an easier way to test - using lxappearance, the LXDE theme
chooser.

If I run lxappearance from the terminal, then select the Breeze themes
available there, then click to open a menu in the widget preview, I get
terminal output noting the issue;

The top two there are breeze-gtk-git, the official one, and the bottom two are
from gnome-breeze-git, which I think is a fork. The times in the output are
switched around because I reordered them for the context of this thread.

If a user uses the pager to reduce desktop count to one, assuming they don't
have the show all desktops hotcorner set up, how are they expected to increase
the desktop count? AFAIK Plasma offers no method to do so with the keyboard,
which magnifies the frustration.

When I click on the Install button in GHNS dialog for the Papirus icon theme, I
get a drop down with several files listed. Selecting the
"papirus-icon-theme-20190203.tar.gz" item worked fine, and installed theme
shows up in the icon theme selector. Also uninstalling it worked fine.

Tested with current master versions of Plasma and Frameworks.

Please test it with a newer version; Plasma 5.8 is outdated. Current LTS is
5.12, but we also released versions 5.13, 5.14, and 5.15.

I apologise, it is clear from your response that you are indeed unable to
understand what it means to have a piece of application code misbehave because
the author has no awareness of basic ettiquette. Not only does it, your code,
fail to follow best practices in checking and negotiating control of multiple
instances of its own existence, with the 'very least of iterative code
investment', so to maintain code validity at all times. But it fails to prevent
serious inconvenience to the end user and their execution space as they attempt
to get work done in what is generally termed a 'tight schedule'. This is
outrageous, crude coding that breaks trust in Linux applications. Gone are the
days where chucking rubbish at users is even close to adequate because there is
serious competition in the marketplace. Have you thought of working for
Microsoft?

In such circumstances your contribution for all its legendary capabilities is
not yet house trained.

A virus in your clear experience is a valid piece of code since it contains no
bugs!

Apart from my disbelief, you have clearly done substantial research to get this
far. Just think how far you would get if your editor/compiler or IDE simply
screwed up your code but provided you with no error narratives? Could you stick
with having to hand code every byte without access to any libraries? Should I
care about your situation at all? Most programmers work in teams. I think you
will find it is because after work everybody gets a kick from sharing a good
laugh - because getting to know each others values make life much brighter,
from which our collective code is much sharper!

This is still a problem with kio 5.54 / Qt 5.12.0 / Arch Linux. The important
details are:

- Two files have the same mask.
- The mask is changed by the user before accepting the dialog.

The KFileDialog class that is used by plasma-integration does not seem to
respect the selected filter. Instead of reporting the actual selected filter,
it seems to query for the first filter that has the same mask. The non-native
Qt dialog does *not* have this problem.

import sys
from PyQt5.QtWidgets import QApplication, QFileDialog

app = QApplication(sys.argv)
filter = 'All Files (*.*);;Image (*.*);;Thing (*.txt)'
options = QFileDialog.Option(0)
#options = QFileDialog.DontUseNativeDialog
name, newfilter = QFileDialog.getSaveFileName(None, "Title", "", filter, "",
options)
print(name, newfilter)

Steps to reproduce:
0. Run the above Python script.
1. Enter any file name
2. Set filter to "Image"
3. Press OK.

Expected results:
Print the file name and "Image"

Actual results:
Print the filename and the first filter ("All Files").

For some reason I'm not getting my ksmserver debug output.

Can I check your /etc/profile.d/log.sh

it should read

#!/bin/sh
export QT_LOGGING_RULES=org.kde.kf5.ksmserver.debug=true

If that still doesn't work, could you manually mod the startkde to export this
somewhere before we launch ksmserver.

Can I also have your ~/.config/ksmserverrc

[Digital Clock] Fix 24h tri-state button broken in port to QQC2

In 12h system locales (eg: en_US), checked=1 is cast as
Qt::PartiallyChecked=1 which defaults to the system locale (12h).
Since it's no longer a tri-state button, the user can't select
Qt::Checked=2 which forces the 24h state.

[ksmserver] [Bug 404318] KDE 5.15 - "Restore manually saved session" no more working

2019-02-14 Thread frc_kde
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=404318

Sorry,

I did manually run Conky before to upload:

~/.local/share/sddm/xorg-session.log

Non-manual part ends about #75 or #76 line, with something like:

kdeinit5: Got EXEC_NEW '/usr/lib/qt/plugins/kf5/kio/file.so' from launcher.
kdeinit5: preparing to launch '/usr/lib/qt/plugins/kf5/kio/file.so'
kio_http_cache_cleaner: Already running!

(immediately before Conky lines)

Please, consider only this new attachment:

~/.local/share/sddm/xorg-session.log (II)

where the only manual launch is Konsole (last 2 lines), to imediate copy of the
log.

You can see that Dolphin and Kate launched as part of session startup, but not
Conky.

  Platform: Compiled Sources
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED

Crash report

SUMMARY
I'm using the latest version from master (kdevelop @ 7fd559bba4 and kdev-php @
ad758f6) and lately I'm getting random crashes. I've compiled the sources on
debug mode and I'm attaching the crash report in hopes it tells you enough to
know where the problem is. I've tried to single out the issue but I can't.

Let me know if the attached report isn't enough and I can get more info doing
something else (running with gdb?). It's hard because crashes sometimes occur
after hours of use and sometimes within minutes, but I can always try.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=354802

Many cheers and kudos to i.Dark_Templar. Had it not been for what you've found,
this issue could've remained unresolved for who knows how long, if not forever.

I am on 5.15 as of this morning and did a small test of moving around a bunch
of files and folders and removing some and everything held it's position after
the subsequent reboot.

It "may" be premature (I hope I'm wrong, but I'm something of a pessimist in
general), but I think it can be said it's fixed. If I manage to get myself to
add/delete/move more files and reboot several more times and it sticks, then
I'll be even more confident the fix is for certain.

Bravo for taking what i.Dark_Templar found and taking it the rest of the way.

The problem is easier to understand if you would give a little consideration
for the life and business interests symbolized by the end users environment
your application has been invited to function within.

In short human courtesy is a well practised technique of asking first what
action is most appropriate for any given interface or any particular
instance... a simple initial system check for a prior instance of your code
shows continuity of the integrity of your code with a courteous and logical Y/N
offer of choice. You would avoid the imposition of arrogance that your code
immediately grabs CPU clock and system resources without any prior knowledge of
the impact on the end users business needs "at that time".

Surely a better choice to please the user than to piss them off?

So when a K3b x3 copy run is performed, your running code is obscured by a
subsequent instance of the same code preventing the user from remaining in
control of the copy process (their process in fact). The behaviour of your code
is in conflict with reasonable and proven conventional behaviours of
human/machine interface engineering. Workarounds, your descriptive response,
can only be tolerated under certain extenuating conditions. For example, in
extremis, Apollo 13; by using a team of engineers at JPL, a workaround was
discovered using insulation tape, cardboard, polythene sheeting, pvc piping, in
combination used to convert the square format carbon dioxide filter from the
LEM to fit the round format air filtration housing of the command module in
order to save the lives of the crew!

The differing designs were afterwards recognized as problematic. Changes were
made, so that future workarounds would be unnecessary and so that either would
fit in the command module air filtration unit in all subsequent missions.

Workarounds are not in themselves wrong, but they cannot be tolerated for what
they represent in design, risk, or inconvenience to the user!

I sincerely hope the nature of the problem presented by your code in its
current form is now clear? Please allow for best practice?

Sincere thanks for appropriate code changes to meet this "multiple copy
behaviour - independent of users default settings as an issue of Best
Practice".

[ksmserver] [Bug 404318] KDE 5.15 - "Restore manually saved session" no more working

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=404318

The fact that dolphin restores implies ksmserver is working correctly.
What's interesting from the logs is:

conky: desktop window (1ad) is subwindow of root window (9f)
conky: window type - normal
conky: drawing to created window (0x22)
conky: drawing to double buffer

conky: can't open '/sys/class/hwmon/hwmon1/fan1_input': Arquivo ou diretório
inexistente
please check your device or remove this var from conky
kdeinit5: Got EXT_EXEC '/usr/bin/dolphin' from launcher.

so conky *is* starting.

The comment about the rootwindow seems relevant.
Do you get that when you manually start conky later?
Do you get that message if you "kquitapp5 plasmashell" and start conky?

I have a feeling that we're in a race condition, conky perhaps needs to start
after plasmashell has created the DesktopView.

In Plasma 5.15 I worked on removing some blocking slowdowns in ksmserver so it
is probably getting to session restore quicker now.

[krusader] [Bug 402875] Krusader copy/move dialogs no longer a separate window

2019-02-14 Thread Martin Dratva
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=402875

I have no idea whether this is Cinnamon issue or not. I added the job progress
bar to the toolbar, but this does not solve my problem at all, because I still
need to have Krusader visible to see the progress. Does not change a thing for
me.
I have tested latest Linux Mint 19 with Cinnamon and it behaves even worse,
because I do not even get the copy popup, nor is there any indication in
toolbar job queue progress bar of copying. I can only see the file size
growing.
I do not have Plasma desktop, but I will try to see if I can add it and test it
somehow. It will take me few days though for sure.

[Spectacle] [Bug 404346] Screen recording support

2019-02-14 Thread Boudhayan Gupta
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=404346

I no longer maintain Spectacle, so I won't close this as WONTFIX, but I don't
think this will ever happen.

I can say that with some confidence because when I first architect-ed
Spectacle, I wanted a clean separation between the business logic and the
actual screen image grabbing code, because in my naivety I thought that's what
video-recording is, repeatedly taking a screenshot, 30 times a second, and
piping it to some tool that would stitch that into a video. Boy was I wrong.

First of all there's no API to actually do stitch images into a video with Qt
(I thought QtMultimedia did what I wanted to do, but it doesn't, not without
significant hackery which will lead to a suboptimal solution that can't encode
in real-time at most). I tried to wrap mencoder with QProcess, with some
success, but it was still a very ugly solution, and with further complications
around recording and syncing audio, I just decided I didn't want this kind of
complexity in Spectacle and didn't do it.

What I did want to do was actually turn the image grabbing code into a shared
library or Qt plugin so that the bit of Spectacle that *could* be re-used for
this would be, in an entirely new tool just meant for screen recording; I just
didn't manage to complete that effort because I finished university and then
life got in the way. But I think that's the way to go - spin off the image
grabbing and conversion code into a reusable component, and build a new
frontend that records video, possibly built around some multimedia library,
let's say libvlc or something nice that does the heavy lifting for you so that
you don't have to.

BTW, VLC media player can actually do screencasting so if you use libvlc you
might not even have to code in the image grabber - libvlc might do everything
you want by itself. I don't know how it works on Wayland though, YMMV.

[plasmashell] [Bug 404368] New: Update plasma to version 5.15.0 has deleted my localization

2019-02-14 Thread lega99
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=404368

Bug ID: 404368
Summary: Update plasma to version 5.15.0 has deleted my
localization
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.15.0
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk
  Reporter: dragan.le...@mail.ru
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: 1.0

Created attachment 118086
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=118086&action=edit
system seting no language

Update plasma to version 5.15.0 has deleted my localization into Serbian. Now I
installed in Manjar and the situation is identical, from the localization only
login screen remained, and everything else is in English. The system setup
field is empty and there are no languages available. This is the situation I
discovered today in the 2 versions of the Neona user edition, one version since
February this year, the second is the older update base Ubuntu 16.04 at
18.04LTS and now in Manjaro.

Operating System: Neon user edition, Manjaro Linux KDE
KDE Plasma Version: 5.15.0
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.55.0
Qt Version: 5.12.1
OS Type: 64-bit
Processors: 6 × AMD FX(tm)-6100 Six-Core Processor
Memory: 7.7 GiB of RAM

2019-02-14 Thread Maik Qualmann
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=279216

Hi Sambhav,

I polished the code of the resize BQM plugin a bit. I noticed that the function
"Use Pixels" does not work. Please look again at the code and check all
options.

Maik
