This is a bug tracker. It is meant for bug reports. A bug report reports a
problem with the software and gives steps to reproduce the issue. It also gives
information about the user's system. This is not a bug report. For user
support, go to ask.krita.org, not the bug tracker. The tool options docker is
listed in the dockers submenu of the settings menu.

Based on your behaviour in both this and the original bug, I am referring this
matter to the Community Working Group for further assessment in respect of your
compliance with the KDE Community Code of Conduct.

Additionally, please do not utilise the various fields in the bug tracker for

> Is the problem that the grabby cursor is always the default black one?

Yes but in this case it's only the default one within the preview area, outside
it it's still the one set by the theme. In cases of very high RAM and CPU
usage, it temporarily switches to the default one in more cases though.

[bugs.kde.org] [Bug 404465] Bug report status does not remain exclusively under the control of the report author! [Exclusive right of report author over status of their report must be upheld!] Problem

2019-02-18 Thread Nicolás Alvarez

- K3b is provided with no warranty ("not even the implied warranty of fitness
for a particular purpose" such as running on your computer at all). If it
doesn't work the way you want, it's not an "invading object" in your computer
since you can choose not to use it.

- Linux Mint is not related to, and has no authority over KDE. They are
independent projects and communities. This is the KDE bug tracker.

- How can this be about misogyny if your gender is not public information?

Forced closure before K3b is required to seek consent for subsequent instances
of its code (n+1) breaks confidence in validity of Linux Mint to support a
truly open source project. Superiority of male dominance over reported content
is unacceptable behaviour and should be resisted! This emerging issue is a
disgrace!

Christoph,
1. I accuse you of "Not reading the comments"
2. I challenge your authority in consequence and the validity of your comments
so far for failing to grasp the principle error of the K3b author in failing to
respect private property by allowing their code to operate without first
validating the system owners consent to run n+1 instances of K3b in an unknown
context. The K3b code is an invading object that may otherwise seriously impact
the services, resources and business schedule of the system owner!
I demand this matter is referred to a higher committee for Linux Mint to decide
on the content of this "Bug Report"
3. I demand that the quality of this BUG is determined by a fresh and
non-misogynistic approach by female peers.
Without trying to 2nd guess the intolerance shown towards my attempt to
understand the behaviour of yourself, the author and the other 3rd party
contributor that appear more concerned with the off topic issues than the
actual bug references.

The continued attack on my attempt to communicate with an unreasonable author
(an author without the critical concepts to reason with) has created a hostile
"team intolerance" issue that should not exist in an international class code
project, referring to the OS upon which the K3b code first exhibited
inappropriate naivety towards system resources that were not automatically the
property of the K3b author.

As you have not attended to the principle first you are instead referring to a
discussion that results from the apparent inability of the code author to
understand the required behaviour of their code in an environment other than
their own PC. If you do not perceive this as a bug, then perhaps you have not
written code that must observe these rules?

We live in an age of open source, open attitude, but in order to attain these
goals we must learn their nature and change with them.

[gwenview] [Bug 404542] New: Gwenview crashes after a few minutes of 180% CPU on large directory of 12000 images

2019-02-18 Thread Paul Hands
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=404542

Bug ID: 404542
Summary: Gwenview crashes after a few minutes of 180% CPU on
large directory of 12000 images
   Product: gwenview
   Version: 18.12.2
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: gwenview-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: jpha...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Gwenview crashes on a very large directory in Browse mode. The directory has
12111 images and 247 videos, totaling 36.2 Gb. Invoking Gwenview in View mode
works OK, consuming a lot (>80%) CPU, but still responds. Switching to Browse
mode instantly freezes the machine (unresponsive cursor response to mouse
moves, 180% CPU) which crashes after a couple of minutes. The behaviour is
repeatable.

System info:...

KDE Neon 5.14 running on Zotac E1750 with 4x core i7 CPU @ 3.2GHz, 16G RAM, 2Tb
SSD.

Operating System: KDE neon 5.14
KDE Plasma Version: 5.15.0
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.55.0
Qt Version: 5.12.0
Kernel Version: 4.15.0-45-generic
OS Type: 64-bit
Processors: 8 × Intel® Core™ i7-4770R CPU @ 3.20GHz
Memory: 15.4 GiB of RAM

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Use Dolphin to browse to the directory and select any image for open in
Gwenview
2. Gwenview works OK in View mode, able to switch between images and scroll the
thumbnail bar.
3. Switch to Browse mode

OBSERVED RESULT
Gwenview freezes the entire machine, and crashes after a couple of minutes of
180% CPU use, according to 'top'. Mouse cursor doesn't resppnd to mouse
movement until after Gwenview crashes, when the system returns to normal.

EXPECTED RESULT
Normal browse behavior.

2019-02-18 Thread Juraj
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=404494

It looks like falkon creates another lockfile.
When I start falkon it creates "qtsingleapp-Falkon-25de-3e8-lockfile" and
socket file with same name.

But today also appeared another lockfile callked
"qtsingleapp-falkon-1ee2-3e8-lockfile".

When this bug appears it looks like the original files are removed for some
reason.

I can only say that I don not run any script to delete things from /tmp.
/tmp it mounted as tmpfs and is big enough to hold few blank files.

In my usage of Falkon I start it once open one or more windows and then call it
from other applications to open links in running instance.

Git commit 5c1470d2f7f4b3f8ba73644fbfa2206bc22063dd by Michael Pyne.
Committed on 19/02/2019 at 00:34.
Pushed by mpyne into branch 'Applications/18.12'.

Fix crash in filtering playlist to playing album/artist.

This was caused by infinite recursion in trying to grab the list of
playlist items while trying to update the list of playlist items, which
could be most easily caused by clicking on the artist or album link in
the "now playing" bar while playing a song.

That is not a random var. That is the only way to have Plasma desktop currently
scaled properly on a HiDPI panel, as even yourself suggested on
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=356446. Without that variable, the icons
of the desktop and the spacing of the menu items on the desktop are wrong. So,
it may not be a bug of the global menu applet, but there is definitely a bug
somewhere.

Can confirm, I had to work through this myself when I added Qt5 build support,
and noted it as something that would need to be fixed. See
https://invent.kde.org/kde/kdesrc-build/issues/18

I would rather we track this bug up there... maybe resolve as "UPSTREAM" here
to make it clear the bug remains valid?

To answer your question about closing bugs, though, you can use the BUG:n
keyword in your commit message for most KDE repositories to indicate the
Bugzilla bug can be closed as fixed. For the repositories participating in the
Gitlab pilot at invent.kde.org (like kdesrc-build), you can close their Gitlab
issues by just mentioning "Fixes #n" in the commit message somewhere.

Last I tried the Gitlab instance can't actually close Bugzilla bugs because the
hooks aren't setup for that.

[latte-dock] [Bug 404540] New: For Latte dock, option to have alternative indicator style copied from Gnome's Dash to Panel.

2019-02-18 Thread leftcrane
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=404540

Bug ID: 404540
Summary: For Latte dock, option to have alternative indicator
style copied from Gnome's Dash to Panel.
   Product: latte-dock
   Version: git (master)
  Platform: Kubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: plasmoid
  Assignee: mvourla...@gmail.com
  Reporter: leftcr...@tutanota.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Gnome's style can be found here:
https://github.com/home-sweet-gnome/dash-to-panel (under Customizable running
indicators)

It offers a few advantages over most Plasma styles and the Latte style.

- It is easier to tell which window is active.
- The active window indicator does not interfere with the indicator responsible
for identifying the number of open windows, which gives more flexibility in
terms of indicators.
- Indicators are colored from the icon, which makes better visual
differentiation of the dock items.
- (I think) Mousing over the dock icons draws a box around them. The current
latte style just faintly highlights the icon, which makes it much more
difficult to tell which icon you're about to select. Highlight boxes provide
much better visual feedback.

Note that dash to dock's style, except the coloring, is the same as Windows
uses. Presumably Windows conducted some usablity surveys and decided this is a
good style to use, so I think it makes sense to have this style as an option in
Latte. Having used Windows and Gnome extensively in the past, it is my opinion
that their docks styles provide a better user experience.

The gnome dash to dock extension has a setting to require pressure sensitivity
to bring up the dock from hidden state. This helps against accidentally
bringing up the dock when it's positioned on the left of the screen. The
problem is that applications have many controls that also positioned along the
left edge, so that when you try to hit an application button in that area it's
very easy to bring up the dock by accident.

[Akonadi] [Bug 404538] New: akonadi fails with "multiple merge candidates" after failed IMAP sync

2019-02-18 Thread Jens
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=404538

Bug ID: 404538
Summary: akonadi fails with "multiple merge candidates" after
failed IMAP sync
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: server
  Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: jens-bugs.kde@spamfreemail.de
  Target Milestone: ---

Using KDE Neon with all updates applied, based on Ubuntu 18.04.

For the last few weeks, Kontact has not been updating its mails any more and I
only see "retrieving folder contents ..." in the messages window.
I tracked this down to an Akonadi issue where - it seems - an IMAP remotely
stored mail was deleted twice. Something in the mail database has gotten out of
sync, and Akonadi is not clever enough to fix it.

I'm going back to Thunderbird for now. Despite KMail definitively being the
better mail app.

Sorry, gals 'n' guys.
I went from Ubuntu to KDE Neon because I found KDE is by far the better desktop
experience now that Unity is going (I liked Unity).
I tried Kontact/KDE and was surprised what features it had compared to my
Thunderbird/Lightning/SOGO setup with Caldav and Carddav.

It worked great at first, maybe except for the weak HTML support in the mail
editor (especially when replying).

Then KMail started stalling when fetching mail, mostly after resuming from
sleep mode, or when cleaning up inboxes with a lot of moving and deleting
email.
Some research pointed me to the Akonadi framework running in the background,
and a ~2GB MySQL database in .local/share/akonadi acting as "cache" for all my
mails.

And this "cache" kept breaking on me. "akonadictl restart" on the console spew
thousands of "multiple merge candidates" and "lock time exceeded" errors, which
appeared again and again regardless how often I deleted my whole KDE setup and
configured everything from scratch.

Thunderbird is clunkier, not as nice, not as fast.
But it *works*.
I have never lost email. It can find the right email quickly with the global
search feature and "drill down" options.
Whatever local database it has, it doesn't break on me and doesn't create
duplicate or missing emails.
It uses about a third of the memory that Kontact + Akonadi + the mandatory
MySQL server uses, and does not create *yet* another cache copy of my emails.

Please close this bug only after Akonadi has been made either significantly
more robust or replaced by something more robust.

I will stay with KDE, and I will keep my Akonadi configuration, so if there are
follow-up questions, I'm happy to answer and do some research to help fix this.

2019-02-18 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=404526

--- Comment #2 from kwanza.p...@virginmedia.com ---
My base OS is opensuse leap 15 but my QT/KDE packages are self-compiled, albeit
based on opensuse source RPMs. The issue wih okular affects any file that is in
the PDF format. I should add, this was also the base in v18.12.0. The problem
is unique to okular - any other viewer will render the PDF files correctly.

As an aside, I came across a similar bug report from 2009. I wonder why it
should recur 10 years hence?

This won't work, because you are reporting a crash, which is processed by our
crash duplicate finder.

I doubt it makes sense to report a meta bug. Better report individual issues,
which can be individually tracked.

tentative fix by replacing the SIgnature instance with a pointer.

SUMMARY
The testRebase unittest creates a Signature instance before libqgit2 has been
initialised. This causes an immediate crash when calling a libgit2 allocator
through what is still a nullptr at that time.

Tested with libgit2 0.28.1 (the current release version)
