SUMMARY

Whenever I take a screenshot with spectacle the resulting image is super
blurry. I'm not sure if this is related to wayland or caused by a high-dpi
screen or anti-aliasing. Please have a look at the attached screenshot which
shows the problem

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Run a wayland session
2. Make a screenshot
3. Open created screenshot

You probably are on Windows and have an AMD GPU? If so, enable Angle in the
display page of Krita's settings dialog. Some AMD drivers for some AMD GPU's
have a bug where textures get inverted under some circumstances.

I would have said, try the latest nightly build, which has a workaround for the
problem that Qt really, really wants a working opengl or d3d driver, but that's
only available for 64 bits windows. You'll have to wait until we release 4.2.3
which has that workaround, but whether it will work on a machine as old as
yours is anybodies guess.

As you can see from the backtrace, there is no Krita code involved in this at
all: it's all in the Intel GPU driver, and old Intel GPU drivers are really
bad. The reason 4.1.7 works is that it is built against Qt 5.9, which did not
have as hard a dependency on OpenGL/D3D as Qt 5.12, which is the current
long-term-support version of that development framework.

I can confirm the same issue on plasma-workspace-5.15.5-1.fc30

The workaround is to set a fixed cursor size in KDE system settings (24px in my
case). If I leave it as default 'dependent on resolution' the cursor is really
huge.

I don't have XCURSOR_SIZE set in my env.

If I run the app with XCURSOR_SIZE=24 it works as expected.

The cursor is displayed at correct size on window decorations and GTK/Xwayland
apps.

[kwin] [Bug 409763] New: Kwin does not correctly detect refresh rate of PRIME monitor

2019-07-13 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=409763

Bug ID: 409763
Summary: Kwin does not correctly detect refresh rate of PRIME
monitor
   Product: kwin
   Version: 5.16.3
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: platform-x11-standalone
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: aska...@hotmail.fr
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 121491
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=121491&action=edit
Output of "qdbus org.kde.KWin /KWin supportInformation"

Hi,

I was doing some testing with refresh rates on KDE, and I found out that KWin
isn't running at the proper refresh rate on Nvidia when there is a PRIME
monitor involved.

My setup : Optimus laptop with a dual-GPU Intel+Nvidia configuration. The X
session is running directly on the Nvidia chip. I have 2 monitors :

- The 120Hz built-in screen of the laptop. It's hardwired to the Intel chip,
but exposed to Nvidia as a PRIME monitor.
- A 144Hz external monitor plugged directly into the Nvidia card.

I assume that Kwin should run at one of those 2 refresh rates (preferably the
highest one), but here is what happens instead :

When both monitors are active : the refresh rate is 72Hz
When only the PRIME monitor is active : the refresh rate is 60Hz
When only the external monitor is active : the refresh rate is 144Hz

(Note that I am using the "Show FPS" desktop effect to measure the framerate.
Since it's capped at 100 I can't be 100% sure that the monitor is really
running at 144Hz in the last case, but there is not a single doubt that the
framerate is much higher than in the 2 other cases).

I tried disabling PRIME Sync by disabling modesetting in the Nvidia driver, but
it made no difference. However, disabling the Nvidia card and running the
session on the Intel chip (which does not involve PRIME since the built-in
screen is directly connected) makes Kwin run at the correct framerate.

Finally, I found out that adding "MaxFPS=144" to the "[Compositing]" section of
~/.kwinrc fixes the issue. So it really looks like KWin fails to detect the
refresh rate of the PRIME monitor.

This seems to be confirmed by running "qdbus org.kde.KWin /KWin
supportInformation". It shows :

Screen 0:
-
Name: DP-0
Geometry: 0,0,1920x1080
Scale: 1
Refresh Rate: 143.996

Screen 1:
-
Name: eDP-1-1
Geometry: 1919,0,1920x1080
Scale: 1
Refresh Rate: 60.0078

And, you guessed it, that 60Hz on Screen 1 is not correct.

[kdenlive] [Bug 409764] New: Serious degradation through blockiness at rendering of singular clip

2019-07-13 Thread Uwe Dippel
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=409764

Bug ID: 409764
Summary: Serious degradation through blockiness at rendering of
singular clip
   Product: kdenlive
   Version: 18.04.3
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Video Display & Export
  Assignee: j...@kdenlive.org
  Reporter: udip...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
I assemble a long video from a number of clips. All clips play okay, with VLC
as well as in the clip monitor. In the rendered result, however, the first clip
is totally degraded throughout.
I have re-done the rendering, thinking of a glitch: same result
I have imported the story into the most recent appIm, 19.07.70, exactly the
same result.

I can't upload all files (close to 20 GB). How can I help further with this
annoying thing? Annoying to me, because it only effects a single, in this case
first, clip. Casual scrolling through the rendered result did not bring this
defect to light in the first control scan of the ready product.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Import a specific set of clips, all playing perfectly well
2. Assemble those clips on the timeline
3. Render the result

OBSERVED RESULT
Rendered video is totally distorted throughout the scenes coming from the first
clip.

EXPECTED RESULT

Proper rendering (what else?)

[dolphin] [Bug 406028] Folder right-click menu is missing items in the folder panel

2019-07-13 Thread Antonio
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=406028

Hi, I finally understand the basics of how the context menu works in KDE.
So i used the signal 'requestContextMenu' when a user right clicks on a folder
in the folder panel.
But I can't get around the problem that it always switches the open folder on
the right side too (in the main view).

This code:
https://github.com/precla/dolphin/commit/8407835ec8c6f6fe6256cd60b8f66213ac0095ed

If I remove 'emit slotItemActivated(index);' (*1) and instead use
'updateCurrentItem(index);' (*2), then the context menu works on the currently
open folder in the main view. See attached gifs.

Can anyone give me an hint or help me out?
Thanks in advance!

Use QFileInfo::completeBaseName instead of baseName

This makes it possible for users to use dots in their filenames.
Not that that is a good idea, everything after the first dot is
technically an extensions, as in bla.tar.gz, but Krita doesn't
handle any file formats where that actually happens, so we can
be a bit less technically correct when handling filenames and
only check the extension after the last dot.

[plasmashell] [Bug 409768] New: Rightclick on System Tray/Taskpanel brings the wrong application back to

2019-07-13 Thread boospy
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=409768

Bug ID: 409768
Summary: Rightclick on System Tray/Taskpanel brings the wrong
application back to
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.16.3
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: System Tray
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: li...@osit.cc
  Target Milestone: 1.0

Looks like i found a bug. I tested it with a fresh neon installation and a
fresh userprofile. If you click with the right mousebutton on an application in
the taskpanel on the right site, on most application you got an menu. So my
example was choqok. But it works with any other application too, nextcloud,
steam, sm4k... after the rightclick, click back to desktop or another place,
after that on every application you click on the right site on the taskpanel,
the same menu opens. But it gets even funnier. Becaues you click on an open
application like dolphin, in my case choqok opens instead.

Here is the screencast of this issue:
https://darkdevil.osit.cc/index.php/s/NKtsFQmHefET5Pz

Thanks a lot

Unfortunately, I am not skilled enough to test it myself so I hope it will be

Thank you.

I'm still working on the method to reproduce, but I got a nice stack trace so I
thought I ought to submit it. This was on the wifi for a university network, so
that might be the connection to NewPrinterNotification.

These may be downstream bugs, but I don't see NewPrinterNotification in the
stack trace anywhere, so the similarity might end at the SIGABRT and
qt_message_fatal() part:

There is still a bug with the usage of QProcess in KTimer. As an example, I'm
trying to start "/usr/bin/kate" with the KTimer which doesn't work.

Played around with the code in void KTimerJob::fire(),
startDetached(d->command) did it's work as proc->setProgram(d->command); and
proc->start(); does.

I am not that familiar with QProcess to get the issues on changing method, so
perhaps anyone will do :)

Git commit 0c98f36e3db317a70eae03cf52be24d2583659f5 by Christoph Cullmann, on
behalf of Ahmad Samir.
Committed on 13/07/2019 at 15:47.
Pushed by cullmann into branch 'master'.

When loading a session always load the "open recent" list

Summary:
KateMainWindow: move loading/saving "open recent" files list to separate
functions to enable loading that list when loading a session regardless
of the "save window configuration" setting.

Note that there was no strict need to move the code that saved the list
outside of KateMainWindow::saveProperties(), but this way the code is less
confusing.
FIXED-IN: 19.08.0

Test Plan:
- Open kate with a new/anonymous session, and disable "restore window
configuration"
- Open some files to populate the "open recent" menu, then close kate
- Open kate again with a new/anon. session; check if the "open recent" menu
has been populated with the previously opened files
- Load a different session in the same window; check if the "open recent" menu
has been populated with the files list from that session

- Repeat the same steps but with "restore window configuration" enabled

[plasma-nm] [Bug 409774] New: Don't show "Network disconnected" notification after the disconnect button in the plasma-nm widget is clicked

2019-07-13 Thread Nate Graham

Bug ID: 409774
Summary: Don't show "Network disconnected" notification after
the disconnect button in the plasma-nm widget is
clicked
   Product: plasma-nm
   Version: master
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: applet
  Assignee: jgrul...@redhat.com
  Reporter: n...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

In general, it never makes sense to show a notification in response to a
successful direct user action. The user expects that their action is completed
successfully; there's no reason to say "the thing you did worked!"

Applying this principle to plasma-nm, there's no reason to show a "Network
disconnected" notification when the user clicks on the "Disconnect" button in
the plasma-nm network list. This notification should only appear in response to
a disconnection that was not initiated by the user.

2. Enable Telrad and "1 degree" indicators from menu
3. Center on the Sun
4. The Sun's angular diameter looks like 1 degree, which is twice as large as
it should be.

In the PC version of Kstars this issue does not seem to exist, and the Sun's
diameter looks like 0.5 degree.

There is already the method KrView::setFileIconSize, the point is: when to use

The resize must be invoked only when the icon size is really changed, and we
have two types of view (brief/detailed). I don't know if a bare cycle is the
right solution.

[krusader] [Bug 409776] New: Can't make "Modified" column leftmost any more (could in version 2.4)

2019-07-13 Thread Paul Kosinski

  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Can't make "Modified" column leftmost any more (could in version 2.4 on KDE 4)

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Start Krusader in Debian 10 XFCE
2. Drag "Modified" column leftward
3. Can't get it all the way to left edge

OBSERVED RESULT Stops at "Name" column

EXPECTED RESULT Stops at left edge

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Debian 10 XFCE
There is a "/usr/lib/kde4" directory, and both "/usr/share/qt4" and
/usr/share/qt5" directories

Linux/KDE Plasma:
KDE Plasma Version:

Qt Version:

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The Name and Modified columns are the most important columns in a file list, as
one is often interested in recent files. The Modified column is fixed size
(depending only on date/time format), while the Name column is unbounded.
Having the Name column leftmost can result in Modified being pushed off too far
to see without horizontal scrolling or Name being so narrow as to require
column widening (as opposed to simple scrolling) to see the full name.

This seems to be a problem in recent Krusaders per se, as other KDE software
works quite nicely on XFCE. (Debian's dependency resolution brings in lots of
KDE libraries automatically.
