As posted in the duplicate bug, the same version is having issues in Arch
linux. So, I think this is a bug that is a little difficult to reproduce.
However, I would recommend that if the issue does not pop up immediately, use
the system a bit longer and load the system a bit more. The issue will
eventually pop up.

@Nate Thanks a bunch for responding. I've added two screenshots with Konsole
fully maximized on the left half of the screen.

One thing I noticed is that they wayland screenshot has only half the
resolution. That's why the file sizes are wildly different. That peaked my
curiosity and I took another screenshot with display scaling set to 1x instead
of the default 2x. Et voila spectacle takes a screenshot with the right
resolution.

[kwin] [Bug 409490] Recording desktop video isn't possible with compositing disabled

2019-07-15 Thread Martin Flöser
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=409490

@Nick: Did you try recordmydesktop with the --no-wm-check command line option?
Are you recording the complete desktop or do you use the --windowid command
line switch to just capture the game?

I'm now in front of a real keyboard and explain why I am so sure that this is
not a bug in our software. I am aware of the heuristics for example
recordmydesktop does - such heuristics are a bad idea to start with. How does
one want to do one heuristic to cover KWin composited and non-composited? And
even if, is that the only contributing factor? Certainly not, in Plasma we have
several untypical components which break such heuristics. For example the task
manager is an additional compositor (which is totally fine and in-spec) and the
main difference to other desktop environments is that Plasma doesn't render
into the root window. This can be contributing factors to breaking screen
recorders. But everything we do is totally fine and totally in compliance with
the X protocol and we have done so for years. If screen recorders cannot handle
this, it's their bug and not ours.

Add undo support for association widgets

It was necessary to enlarge CmdBaseWidgetCommand and derived classes
with an additional AssociationWidget pointer, since the WidgetBase class
misses some methods to be usable as a common class for all widget types
and association widgets are implemented differently in the UMLscene class.

[kde] [Bug 409847] New: Enhancement: Accessibility - Add optional On-Demand two-finger scrolling for touchpads

2019-07-15 Thread Joe
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=409847

Bug ID: 409847
Summary: Enhancement: Accessibility - Add optional On-Demand
two-finger scrolling for touchpads
   Product: kde
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: unassigned-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: jose...@main.nc.us
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Add a touchpad configuration option that only enables touchpad two-finger
scrolling when a modifier key is being pressed. This should not impact other
touchpad functionality - just two-finger scrolling.

I have described this in detail, including why I need it here:
https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=216&t=155524

Thus option would dramatically improve my user experience. The current problem
occurs several times every hour and disrupts my work flow.

OBSERVED RESULT
Unintentional touchpad scrolling occurs frequently which is very frustrating

EXPECTED RESULT
Touchpad continues to work normally, but only scrolls when I explicitly want it
to (by holding down a fixed or configurable modifier key such as Alt, Ctrl, or
Super. and using two-finger scrolling)

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Any, but I currently use kubuntu 18.04.
Windows:
macOS:
Linux/KDE Plasma:
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version:
KDE Frameworks Version:
Qt Version:

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

I have two partially numb fingers on my right hand and I don't feel them
touching the touchpad until it's too late and my screen goes careening off to
multiple other desktops or window positions I did not want.

Two-finger scrolling is a great feature. I do not want to eliminate it. I just
want to eliminate unintentional scrolling.

Other relevant issues (not duplicates):
391551
369426

Since System Settings already has options for configuring two-finger scrolling,
some of the infrastructure required for this feature is already implemented.

This is almost identical to #391551. This needs some work. It's an

This is a long term problem. I still have it in kubuntu 18.04. It scrolls so
fast it makes me dizzy as desktops careen across the screen. I would turn it
off if I could - without losing scrolling everywhere else.

This is not just an inconvenience/annoyance. It's an accessibility issue as
well.

Ah, then there's a real bug here: we shouldn't activate the feature in the
places panel when full content indexing isn't on if it won't work. In fact,
maybe the ioslave itself shouldn't even be active.

[plasmashell] [Bug 409844] New: "show progress and status information in tasks buttons" option is gone

2019-07-15 Thread Deny Dias
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=409844

Bug ID: 409844
Summary: "show progress and status information in tasks
buttons" option is gone
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.16.3
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Task Manager
  Assignee: h...@kde.org
  Reporter: d...@macpress.com.br
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: 1.0

SUMMARY
"show progress and status information in tasks buttons" option, formerly
located in task manager settings, do not show after Plasma 5.16? See the
screenshot bellow, from an older Plasma:

https://imgur.com/Uflqgnx

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open task manager settings.
2. Go to behavior.

OBSERVED RESULT
There is no "show progress and status information in tasks buttons". There is
no way to disable progress and status for the taskbar, hence Akregator unread
item count keep showing up.

EXPECTED RESULT
"show progress and status information in tasks buttons" should appear. There
should be a way to disable progress and status for the taskbar so no Akregator
unread item count show up.

I think the issue is about Qt4/KDE4 applications. But nowadays more and more
distros remove those completely, that's why it is irrelevant to fix it.

As nobody could reproduce it for 2 years, I would suggest to close this bug
soon with in three months, if nobody approve, that it is still an issue.

[plasmashell] [Bug 409768] Rightclick on System Tray/Taskpanel brings the wrong application back to

2019-07-15 Thread boospy
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=409768

Yes with all. But it's happens only if you click first on an app in the system
tray. After that you click on volume, network, and you can see the issue.
But if you click fist on volume, network... and after on an app in the system
tray, the menu form the app comes up, not that from example volume. So this
direction it works right.

You can also click right on PSI+ after that click left on Kontact and PSI+
comes up.

Hey Nate, I just checked, it seems to only happen to non-KDE/Plasma icons. In
my case it happens with Chrome, Dropbox, Keybase, Discord, and KeePassX. It
does not happen with Network Manager, Volume, Battery, etc.

Thanks for the video, that's very helpful! However I'm not able to reproduce it
with my icons-only task manager on Plasmas 5.16.2 or with everything built from
git master.

Is it just apps in the system tray where this happens, or all items (e.g.
Volume, network status, etc)?

Using Ubuntu 19.04 with KDE Plasma Desktop 5.16.3

Also tested on a new profile to see if this was the issue, however still the
same result with "Check Connectivity" and playing whack-a-mole with
notifications, when I close Discover.

The only way to stop the notifications from multiplying is to reboot, as they
will not stop.

(Notification issue only happens with the closing of Discover)

Not sure about this one. How can we be sure that the devices you might have
added to /etc/fstab that wouldn't otherwise show up in the Places panel should
be omitted?

Yes, this is by design. Can you explain why you don't like it? Keep in mind
that individual entries in the places panel can be hidden if you'd rather not
see them.

Me neither, with those same versions. I may have some idea of what's going on
though. Please run the following commands in a terminal window:

xdg-open https://store.kde.org/p/1167640

kioclient5 exec https://store.kde.org/p/1167640

Does either of those commands open Calibre instead of your web browser?

Also, try going to System Settings > Applications > Default Applications > Web
Browser and make sure links are set up to open "In the following application"
and then select your web browser. Does that fix it?

[frameworks-kio] [Bug 409771] Set of available columns in details views should be editable

>From the code, this looks intentional. It's a trivial fix, but I think I might
see why it was removed. The set of columns is non-editable, so if we added it,
it would always be there, which could be kind of annoying since it's a
low-value column.

We should make the set of columns editable, then people can add them column for
themselves if they want it.

FWIW I got the same message on upgrading to 5.16 (I guess that one time I used
French for a while, the translated color scheme name got into the config file).

Sounds the root cause is already fixed, but maybe we could map the old
translated strings to the new untranslated ones upon upgrade so people don't
see this useless error message?

[amarok] [Bug 409837] New: CMakeLists.txt doesn't check for presence of Embedded MariaDB

2019-07-15 Thread Eyal Rozenberg
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=409837

Bug ID: 409837
Summary: CMakeLists.txt doesn't check for presence of Embedded
MariaDB
   Product: amarok
   Version: 2.9.0
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: amarok-bugs-d...@kde.org
  Reporter: eyal...@technion.ac.il
  Target Milestone: kf5

SUMMARY

I'm building v2.9.0 on Debian buster (well, actually, Devuan Beowulf, which is
the same thing but with systemd yanked out).

CMake'ing works, but during linking, I get this error:

[ 61%] Linking CXX shared module
../../../../../lib/amarok_storage-mysqlestorage.so
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lmariadbd
collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status

indeed, I didn't have embedded MariaDB installed. When I installed the package
for it, the error went away.

So, CMake should have checked for this library's presence - and didn't; or
alternatively, mistakenly thought it had located it.

That isn't the correct resolution status. The reporter is having an issue that
only manifests when using Plasma with KWin and it isn't fixed yet. Maybe the
root cause isn't KWin's fault, but some investigation needs to be done to
determine where the issue might lie. This is bugs.kde.org, not bugs.kwin.org.
