Hi! Firstly update krita to the latest version and verify the bug is present
there: https://krita.org/en/download/krita-desktop/ (donwload krita next)

Not any text crash krita as not many people experience this, I cannot get krita
to crash by just adding text. Is the text special is some way? Add as much
specifyc information as you can, so it is easy for us to reproduce what you
get.

I think there has been some confusion here. Where exactly is the UX issue? How
do you expect users to attempt to share files using a port higher than 1024
using a GUI tool available in KDE?

If a user figures out how to do anything else, they can figure out how to open
a port on a firewall. Not to mention that there are already multiple firewall
management GUIs.

I fail to see how the decision of the GNOME folks, which has been to ignore
various serious concerns in favour of Mac-like "simplicity", helps with UX in
any way.

[konsole] [Bug 403059] shrinking size of tabs

2019-08-29 Thread Kurt Hindenburg
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=403059

Git commit ed44f288c2d26213e31c5b69b30a9e56ecfe8633 by Kurt Hindenburg, on
behalf of Yap Sok Ann.
Committed on 30/08/2019 at 00:55.
Pushed by scmsync into branch 'Applications/19.08'.

Add scrollbuttons for tabs when tabbar is full

When there are too many tabs to be shown in the window, a scrollbar
appears in the tabbar (this is not great usability-wise, but still
beat window auto-resizing, particularly when the window is already
maximized)

This is part of this merge request

I'll leave changing TextElideMode for later review.

I can't reproduce the crash - I'll keep trying - checking for nullptr seems

[konsole] [Bug 403059] shrinking size of tabs

2019-08-29 Thread Kurt Hindenburg
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=403059

Git commit f79ee976fb9cefc1e365a455c56e0754cc92ddba by Kurt Hindenburg, on
behalf of Yap Sok Ann.
Committed on 30/08/2019 at 00:44.
Pushed by hindenburg into branch 'master'.

Sorry to hear that you're having trouble with sending messages too. I have not
had a case where a message does not send, though sometimes it takes awhile
(long after the message was received by the other party) before it appears in
the Android messaging app. I suppose those apps are not designed for handling
messages being delivered outside of them.

I will soon need to change the message-sending process in KDE Connect so
hopefully when that happens it will get rid of these problems too.

[kinfocenter] [Bug 411433] New: Samba info is blank - relies on smbstatus which requires root permissions

2019-08-29 Thread davehill
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=411433

Bug ID: 411433
Summary: Samba info is blank - relies on smbstatus which
requires root permissions
   Product: kinfocenter
   Version: 5.14.5
  Platform: Debian stable
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Samba
  Assignee: hubn...@gmail.com
  Reporter: daveh...@telus.net
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Kinfocenter Help says the Samba page front-ends smbstatus, but smbstatus only
works as root (or equiv.). Also, the log file doesn't exist and the folder that
has the correct log (/var/log/samba/) is not viewable by non-root user.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set up smb shares on the machine. Connect to them from Windows machines.
2. Open Kinfocenter, expand Network Information, click on Samba Status.
3.

OBSERVED RESULT
No info appears on Exports tab. (I'm not importing so haven't tested that tab).
Log tab is blank and pointing to /var/log/samba.log. Log file should maybe be
/var/log/samba/log.smb or some other file in that folder, although floder is
locked to non-root. Statistics tab is blank.

EXPECTED RESULT
Exports, Log and Statistics listed.

[frameworks-kconfigwidgets] [Bug 373767] Changing global colourscheme leaves "Colour themes" menu in wrong state

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=373767

Ahmad Samir changed:

KColorSchemeManager creates the menu, and has a slot to activate a
kcolorscheme, that's about it. The application using kcolorschememanager is
responsible for saving the user color scheme choice, or treating it as
transient.

IIUC, the problem here isn't with KColorSchemeManager, but that application
using it, is still affected by the system-wide color scheme change, and it only
affects a running instance of the app, for example if you restart the
application in question the color scheme chosen in kcolorschememanager will be
applied (if the application saved and restored the user's choice) regardless of
the system-wide one.

Changing the color scheme via the colors kcm causes kstyle[1] to apply the new
scheme[1]; the latter has an event filter; maybe apps can reimplement that
event filter and reapply the scheme that was activated via kcolorscheme manager
or just bypass the QEvent::PaletteChanged event.

I think, ultimately the fix will have to be in the application not in
kcolorschememanager.

Ok. I hope new version will work much better in case of SMS function.

This current one is not reliable in case of sending SMS.
I'm not sure what is wrong with kdeconnect or with my phone (Sony Xperia X
Compact with Android 8.0.0).
Just before couple minutes I replied on three SMS.
Firstly appeared popup 3 windows (one by one), so clicked on every three in
"reply" button. Phone of course had turned off screen. I wrote messages and
clicked "send" being sure that every message has been sent.
I was very surprised when I opened on phone SMS application (standard one) and
I wasn't able to find my sent messages. Now I don't know if something has been
sent or not. Anyway I need to reply again on all three SMS in not comfortable
way. This is happened couple times. Today wasn't first.
I cannot rely on function sending SMS from KDE Connect :(.

Fix jpeg crash Krita in case of any error

Before this commit, jpeg would crash if the user would try to save
the file into a location with not enough room for this file
or in any other cases that would cause an error.
This commit adds the simple error checking to the exporter, too,
since the importer already had it.

[systemsettings] [Bug 411430] New: KWin Scripts: Configure button missing after installation

2019-08-29 Thread Marco Zaccari
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=411430

Bug ID: 411430
Summary: KWin Scripts: Configure button missing after
installation
   Product: systemsettings
   Version: 5.16.4
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: i...@marcozaccari.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Installing KWin Scripts by System Settings the Configure button is never
visible.
The issue also occour by manual installation.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. open systemsettings, "Window Management" > "KWin Scripts" section
2. click "Get New Scripts.." or "Install from File..." button
3. install some services (and optionally close and reopen systemsettings)

Manual installation:
1. download a .kwinscript file
2. install typing: kpackagetool5 -r something.kwinscript
3. open systemsettings and look at "Window Management" > "KWin Scripts" section

Example scripts with own configuration:
Sticky Window Snapping: https://store.kde.org/p/1112552
Tiling: https://store.kde.org/p/1112554

OBSERVED RESULT
The service was installed correctly, but the Configure button is never visible
(for any services that expose it).

EXPECTED RESULT
The Configure button should be visible after service installation.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux: Arch
KDE Plasma Version: 5.16.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.61.0
Qt Version: 5.13.0

Issue still present in this system too:
Linux: Kubuntu 19.04
KDE Plasma Version: 5.15.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.56.0
Qt Version: 5.12.2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The cause of the issue is that the metadata.desktop file is never copied or
symlinked into ~/.local/share/kservices5/ path.

Manually making a symlink seems to work perfectly:
mkdir -p ~/.local/share/kservices5
ln -s ~/.local/share/kwin/scripts/something/metadata.desktop
~/.local/share/kservices5/kwin-script-something.desktop

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Caused by this commit:
https://github.com/ImageMagick/ImageMagick/commit/3175621ed5442e8f353e0f9db1da5a7bfb07b928

Problem on our side still in latest master:
https://invent.kde.org/kde/digikam/blob/master/core/tests/dimg/magickloader.cpp#L142

We could just rename module to magick_module but then it won't compile with
older imagemagick. Might need some macro trickery to support both new and old.

Git commit 1eda6e4387da9a71574b2d9c3cf8ff35393a4514 by Kai Uwe Broulik.
Committed on 29/08/2019 at 17:06.
Pushed by broulik into branch 'master'.

Use custom event rather than window.postMessage

window.postMessage requires a targetOrigin which isn't enforced by all
browsers.
This patch changes it to send a custom event which reduces the likelihood of
interference and eavesdropping.

[bugs.kde.org] [Bug 411428] New: file-picker support links locations in GTK file dialogues from KDE/Qt created link locations

2019-08-29 Thread Eden Corbin
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=411428

Bug ID: 411428
Summary: file-picker support links locations in GTK file
dialogues from KDE/Qt created link locations
   Product: bugs.kde.org
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: sysad...@kde.org
  Reporter: edencor...@gmail.com
CC: she...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
It would be great if a quicklink / location created in dolphin was consistently
available in open / save dialogues for as many programs as possible. It does
not, for instance, in vscode.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. install vscode
2. open or save a file
3. note that any quick link locations (think MyProjects folder) are not present
in the open / save dialogue

OBSERVED RESULT
The open/save dialogue is default locations only.

EXPECTED RESULT
Quick links created in Dolphin /qt to be present in the open / save dialogue.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Neon Latest

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Brought this up on neon.kde.org IRC great info I got from there: current the
GTK and KDE/Qt file choosers use different data stores, so links you create in
one will not be visible in the other. however this is actually something we
might be able to fix in KDE-land we might be able to use the same datastore as
the other one, especially if it uses a FreeDesktop standard.

Refactor signal compressor to have better timing properties

* before: emits signals with time range [1.0...2.0] * interval
* after: emits signals with time range [0.5...1.5] * interval

Bascially, now it handles it much better when interval is around
10-20 ms. With the old version it caused KisCanvas2 to drop frames
and look ugly when the user pans the canvas.

Not completely, but another issue concerning the reference tool was fixed (that
I was about to make another bug report for). That having to do with it freaking
out and becoming unresponsive when I tried deleting images and serious lag when
I moved or resize them. So that's good, I guess.

Here's the debugview log.

[libkgapi] [Bug 411425] New: The link ordering is correct by chance only and init of gdrive.so fails when linking with LTO enabled

2019-08-29 Thread Hans-Peter Jansen
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=411425

Bug ID: 411425
Summary: The link ordering is correct by chance only and init
of gdrive.so fails when linking with LTO enabled
   Product: libkgapi
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: drive
  Assignee: dvra...@kde.org
  Reporter: h...@urpla.net
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 122413
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=122413=edit
patch to provoke failure, even if LTO is disabled

SUMMARY
The linking is ordered alphabetically in src/drive/CMakeLists.txt, and fails
with a segfault, if LTO is used, because LTO doesn't stick to the supplied
linking order, if it sees a chance to optimize module locality.

See:
https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1148217
Specifically:
https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1148217#c19
and
https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1148217#c21

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
apply attached patch, compile, install, and run "kioclient5 exec gdrive:/"

OBSERVED RESULT
Failure: The process for the protocol gdrive failed unexpectedly. (translated)

EXPECTED RESULT
No failure

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Tumbleweed 20190824
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.16.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.61.0
Qt Version: 5.13.0

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Linking with LTO disabled fixed the problem, but the correct initialization
order should be addressed in some future version.

Git commit cf931ee1b4033dec9812bde1467e1329cd9d8628 by Nate Graham.
Committed on 29/08/2019 at 15:38.
Pushed by ngraham into branch 'master'.

[Notifications] Don't allow popup to obscure things in corners

Summary:
One thing that has been bugging me a bit with notifications is how close the
pop-up is
to the screen corners/edges. It's so close that it obscures various things that
live very
close to screen edges, such as windows' titlebars and the text input field in
chat apps.
The latter case is really annoying in particular because if you have multiple
chat apps
running, notifications from the app that's in the background will obscure what
you're
typing in the text input field of the foreground chat app.

This patch fixes these types of issues by doing the following:
- Adjusting the popup positioning algorithm make popups that are in a corner
equidistant from both adjacent screen edges, rather than only one
- Doubling the defualt distance from the nearest corner/edge

The combination of these changes allows pop-ups to no longer obscure window
titlebars
and chat windows' input fields.
FIXED-IN: 5.16.5

Test Plan:
Top corner popup position no longer obscures window titlebar text and buttons:
{F7259424}
Bottom corner popup position no longer obscures chat app's text input field:
{F7259425}

Thank you for the quick reply and for the patch. I will test it later this
evening.

That said, the same issue happens on Firefox 60 ESR which if I am not mistaken
is still supported.
