Thank you. I believe you're right, but I don't understand (I'm not a developer)
what I should do to avoid this bug. Maybe using gtk 2 instead than gtk 3?

OK,

I think we have an agreement on that pressing the mouse button on the
scroll-handle should not jump directly to the corresponding place.

I do think tho that it should not jump to that location on release either. I
think it is more logical that if the handle is pressed it means that you "grab"
it for moving and if you then change your mind and release it, it should not
jump.

I don't think this is Latte solvable for the simple reason that new CSD windows
in Plasma 5.18 provide a larger geometry for their shadows, so Latte is
considering them as touching.

[kmail2] [Bug 417862] New: Kmail doesn't allow to sign messages

2020-02-18 Thread Iyán Méndez Veiga
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=417862

Bug ID: 417862
Summary: Kmail doesn't allow to sign messages
   Product: kmail2
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: crypto
  Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: m...@iyanmv.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

Today I needed to send a signed message and Kmail doesn't allow me. It is
something I have done in the past without any issues, so I don't know at which
point this feature broke for me (but for sure after 22 January when I sent last
signed email with the same certificate using Kmail).

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Add an S/MIME certificate to an identity
2. Create new email and send it using that identity

OBSERVED RESULT

When trying to send I get the following error.

Sending message failed. Could not compose message: Address family not supported
by protocol.

EXPECTED RESULT

No error when trying to use that certificate as in the past.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Arch Linux with linux kernel 5.5.4
KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.0
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.67.0
Qt Version: 5.14.1

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

It does work when using a OpenPGP signing key.

[xdg-desktop-portal-kde] [Bug 417861] Firefox and Thunderbird no longer adhere to MIMETYPE associatons

Jan Grulich changed:

 Resolution|--- |NOT A BUG
 CC||jgrul...@redhat.com

This is because the file is most likely opened through the OpenURI portal,
which remembers the choice for given mimetype if it's used three times.

This is what xdg-desktop-portal does, it's not us (our backend) who does that
so simply there is nothing we can do about it. You can stop using
GTK_USE_PORTAL=1 and Firefox will behave as it should.

[xdg-desktop-portal-kde] [Bug 417861] New: Firefox and Thunderbird no longer adhere to MIMETYPE associatons

2020-02-18 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=417861

Bug ID: 417861
Summary: Firefox and Thunderbird no longer adhere to MIMETYPE
associatons
   Product: xdg-desktop-portal-kde
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: jgrul...@redhat.com
  Reporter: sander.s...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Recently both Firefox and Thunderbird stopped following MIMETYPE associations
on Arch. This means that opening an attachment in Thunderbird or opening a
downloaded file directly through the Firefox download interface a different
application would be used to open the file compared to xdg-open or dolphin.

I've tried to remove

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install Firefox (not the firefox-kde-opensuse-bin as that seems to be not
affected)
2. Download a random file (e.g. PDF)

OBSERVED RESULT
Notice that it opens in a different application compared to opening the same
file through dolphin or xdg-open.

EXPECTED RESULT
The file being opened as if it was done through dolphin or xdg-open.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: Arch Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.0
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.67.0
Qt Version: 5.14.1

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
More people are expriencing the issue and for different users different
applications seem to open. A relevant thread on reddit highlights this:
https://www.reddit.com/r/kde/comments/f2otsn/firefox_kde_integration_issue_librarydownloads/

I've tried to find the associations myself and only learned about the
handlers.json file in the firefox profile. Removing that one didn't change
anything.

I've reached out to Nate Graham and he recommended making this bug ticket for
the XDG Desktop Portal component.

Currently touch-scrolling only works on the left-hand pane.

It would be good if this also worked in the main pane to browse through the
albums/artists/tracks etc.

Using X11 on Plasma (Dell XPS 9560), Plasma version 5.18.0, Frameworks version

[kde] [Bug 417857] New: Intermittent system freezes since 2017 on Kubuntu and Ubuntu on AMD and Intel hardware

2020-02-18 Thread Peter
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=417857

Bug ID: 417857
Summary: Intermittent system freezes since 2017 on Kubuntu and
Ubuntu on AMD and Intel hardware
   Product: kde
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: unassigned-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: pem...@yahoo.com.au
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Total system freezes not dependent on any particular activity. Typically screen
remains with a stopped clock and keyboard totally unresponsive. Freezes can
happen daily or after longer intervals. I suspected a possible hardware problem
BUT freezes do NOT happen if I have desktop effect mouse tracking turned on!

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Boot up Kubuntu
2. No particular activity
3. Freeze will occur during the day. Sometimes longer periods between freezes.

OBSERVED RESULT
System freezes solidly. Keyboard unresponsive regardless of how long I wait.

EXPECTED RESULT
A working system

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: Kubuntu 19.10
KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.0
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.67.0
Qt Version: 5.12.4
Kernel Version: 5.3.0-40-generic
OS Type: 64-bit

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Current hardware:
Dell inspiron-5674 desktop
Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 1700X Eight-Core Processor
Memory: 7.7 GiB of RAM
Graphics card: AMD Radeon RX 480

After installing Ubuntu 17.04 on my old ACER i7 laptop in 2017 it started to
freeze. I had been running various Linux distros without any problems since
2012! In early 2018 I decided to buy a tower PC, an AMD, details below. To my
disgust it too started to freeze intermittently. By freeze I mean the screen
was frozen and the keyboard dead. The sort of behaviour you would expect from a
hardware problem. No system errors logged!
I am now on Ubuntu and Kubuntu 19.10 and if anything the freezes are worse.
BUT, I have discovered a way to prevent the freezes on Kubuntu, a very strange
workaround. I found that if I turn mouse tracking on in Kubuntu immediately
after logging in I experience NO FREEZES!!! If I forget to do this I am almost
certain to experience a freeze during the day. This confirms to me that I have
no hardware problem but that some change in Linux between Ubuntu 16.04 and
17.04 created an ongoing problem. My workaround should give the boffins a clue
as to how to fix the problem.

There appear to be no relevant logs as system in effect seems to go into a self
induced coma.

2020-02-18 Thread bugzilla_noreply

Firefox with CSDs close to the panel

SUMMARY

With "Hide background when not needed" enabled on my latte panels the
backgrounds stay hidden as expected when I have a Firefox window with normal
KWin decorations until it actually touches or Firefox is maximized. When using
Firefox with CSDs Latte behaves as if there was an invisible larger border
around Firefox' window and becomes opaque quite a bit before it visibly
touches.
Maybe this has to do with the changes in Plasma 5.18 re better support for GTK
client-side decorations with shadows and resize areas?

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set a panel to "Hide background when not needed" that is otherwise opaque.
2. Configure Firefox to not use a "Title Bar" in its "Customize" view, thereby
making it a client-side decorated window.
3. Observe the latte panel becoming opaque before Firefox visibly touches or is
maximized.

2020-02-18 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=417603

I have only experienced the crash on initial login, multiple times over the
last week or so. My desktop is blank and the only thing sitting there is the
desktop toolbox and any icons I have on the desktop. The crash initially
happened when i started adding widgets back to have some GUI functionality but
experienced the crash, i now notice that if i just let it sit long enough, it
crashes anyway without any input nor widgets. This is reproducible and happens
about ~80% of the time from an initial login after a shutdown (on a laptop).
I am currently running Fedora 31, upgraded from 30. plasmashell 5.18.0 is
currently unavailable in the fedora 31 update repos so I have not had time to
manually update to this version. As the other user stated, they were able to
reproduce the issue on that version as well. Anything more that is needed, just
ask.

[plasmashell] [Bug 417852] New: Date in vertical panels uses the entire width

2020-02-18 Thread Christian Muehlhaeuser
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=417852

Bug ID: 417852
Summary: Date in vertical panels uses the entire width
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.18.0
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Panel
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: mue...@fribbledom.com
  Target Milestone: 1.0

SUMMARY

Since the 5.18 update the date in a vertical panel uses to fully available
width. This can look very odd on wider panels, as the date suddenly uses a font
4 or 8 times as big as the time-label.

Interestingly, lowering the panel's width makes the date font snap back to a
sensible default, even if you increase the width again afterwards. This breaks
on the next login again, though.

> Do you have the skills to build Okular from source and try the bisect this?

On my Manjaro installation, I compiled it for myself and was STILL able to
produce the bug. (I wasn't able to compile it on Debian to test it out)

For a while, I had Okular running without this issue ever being produced on my
Debian installation but seemingly without reason, I started experiencing the
issue. I did not perform any updates, what so ever.

Also, I tested what Oliver said to try a while back. My tablet works completely
fine when using it in Krita, a KDE drawing application that also utilizes Qt. I
can confirm that I was NOT ABLE to reproduce the bug in the presentation mode.

I don't know much about this kind of stuff but I am pretty sure libcanberra is
installed and enabled on my system and it is the default on KDE Neon User
Edition. I think the issue only presents itself when you change the default
output device. I changed it from the built in soundcard (which I also disabled
but I don't think it matters) to the HDMI output on my Nvidia Geforce GTX1060
so that I can use the speakers connected to my monitor. If I have the HDMI
output (see screenshot) selected, I get the lag unless I remove the sound
associated with the event.

[plasmashell] [Bug 417848] Night color system tray icon behaves oddly / is buggy

2020-02-18 Thread Mark Smith
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=417848

Actually I think I figured it out. The tray icon (and also the shortcut if you
set a global shortcut) is no longer synced with whatever you set in the system
settings. In 5.17 the keyboard shortcut (because there was no tray icon) would
enable or disable night color from the settings. Now, if night color is
disabled in system settings, the tray icon and shortcut will no longer work.

I wanted manual control of night color, so in 5.17 IIRC I set it to always
enabled and then controlled it with the keyboard shortcut. This is annoying in
5.18 because if I set it to always on, when I turn on my computer night color
will be on no matter if it was set off with the keyboard shortcut or tray icon
before.

So, assuming this behavior is intended, an option called "manual control" or
something should be added, and the last manually set status should be
remembered after a reboot.

2020-02-18 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=411196

Some anecdotal evidence here, in a configuration with a KVM host running two
guest systems (host system Fedora 30, KDE spin; guests Neon 5.18 and Neon
Testing). Guest systems don't have KDE connect installed but show the same
behaviour as seen with KDE Connect.

Launching Gwenview on the guest systems, it seems that they are sensitive to
items being added to the clipboard 'copied' on the host. Items 'copied' on the
host (being visible in Klipper) are copied across to the guest systems
clipboard(s).
On the guests, you get that occasional 60 second delay opening Gwenview, with
multiple ETIMEDOUT's in the strace. Closing gwenview can also hang.

Seen this with a 'copy' to the clipboard on the host affecting the behaviour of
_both_ guest systems (!)

Quite often Klipper is frozen at the same time as Gwenview. However, in cases
where it's possible to clear the clipboard, the delay stops (with no more
ETIMEDOUT's logged) and Gwenview starts up again.

Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal

SUMMARY
Gwenview takes a long time to open (around 30 seconds)

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
Opening gwenview takes a long time. When I launch it, it seems as the screen
freezes but it's actually the gwenview window that appears as if it's a
screenshot of what was displayed on the screen at the moment it was opened for
a while. It's as if it struggles to compose the main window.
Opening gwenview either by doubleclicking or from the terminal doesn't make any
difference.

It happened for a while then as I was compiling this bug report, I fired up
simplescreenrecorder to take a video of the issue but it magically solved
itself and now it opens instantly again. This has happened other times before.
Running gwenview from a terminal does not display anything.

Hopefully I'll be able to record a video as I'm sure it will happen again.

[kwin] [Bug 417699] Kwin crashes on emoji in titlebar

2020-02-18 Thread David Edmundson
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=417699

Minimal crashing example:

```
import QtQuick 2.5
Text {
textFormat: Text.PlainText
color: "red"
text: "results?search_query=😀"
font.family: "Noto Color Emoji"
style: Text.Raised // This line causes the crash
}
```

Will write up a Qt bug report with this and submit a hack for plastik disabling
the styling.

1. agreed that would be useful for feedback
2a. Resize Canvas to selection would be nice too, but maybe as an aditional
context menu entry.
2b. it could be, but as vector selections can be fine tuned ill be more in
favor of avoiding the extra step of showing the canvas resize dialog.}
3.While I see the usage of this, the usage falls a little into an obscure area
of relying on pixels below the "grey area". Which would cause confusion in the
long run as some operations do clear the pixels outside de view area.

Thanks. And oh yeah, I noticed the "unfocusable" thing too, but was already
afraid that was some kind of graphics driver problem. Glad it's solved.

Git commit d0cbcf9718bb5192738ea9f5a5a3d6c4f9f7dcef by Nate Graham, on behalf
of Nikolai Krasheninnikov.
Committed on 18/02/2020 at 21:55.
Pushed by ngraham into branch 'master'.

Fixes multiple KVersionControlPlugin::fileName() calls on entering or updating
directory.

Summary:
FIXED-IN: 20.04

On each VCS plugin creation corresponding file name is saved (cached) so when
we search which VCS plugin is appropriate for current directory we don't need
to call KVersionControlPlugin::fileName() again.

Does "dynamic request size" mean that it starts e.g. at 256KB, then measures
the time it needed, and if it was less than 1 second, then it will double the
buffer size, measure again, etc. up to (say) 128MB?

I retried your steps, New Partition Table option is disabled as it should be.

Also, see it here in the code:
https://invent.kde.org/kde/kpmcore/blob/master/src/ops/createpartitiontableoperation.cpp#L107

There is a check that disables creation of new partition table if there are
mounted children.

Maybe you can try redoing your steps?

[Bluedevil] [Bug 417846] New: Activating Magic Trackpad 2 on login splash is crashing the desktop

2020-02-18 Thread Maximilian Böhm
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=417846

Bug ID: 417846
Summary: Activating Magic Trackpad 2 on login splash is
crashing the desktop
   Product: Bluedevil
   Version: 5.18.0
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: now...@gmail.com
  Reporter: m...@elbmurf.de
  Target Milestone: ---

I had no problem like this until Plasma 5.18. My Apple Magic Trackpad 2 is
connected via Bluetooth, I’ve tried with USB connection too and this way it is
unaffected. Must be something with Bluetooth.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Login, click Magic Trackpad 2 to wake up & connect
2. Plasma loads – you can move the cursor now with the trackpad – desktop
background loads, then the session is crashing
3. Back to login. The Trackpad is still awake and connected, a new login now
works without session crash.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Arch
KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.0
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.67.0
Qt Version: 5.4.4

Doesn’t occur when I’m activating the Trackpad a couple seconds after a 'cold'
login. But does happen when I’m activating it right after the login splash in a
completely loaded desktop.
I will offer any log I can provide, just tell me what you need and where I can
get it.

[frameworks-kirigami] [Bug 417844] New: Kirigami Icon crashes in RowLayout without explicit width/height

2020-02-18 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=417844

Bug ID: 417844
Summary: Kirigami Icon crashes in RowLayout without explicit
width/height
   Product: frameworks-kirigami
   Version: Master
  Platform: unspecified
OS: All
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: notm...@gmail.com
  Reporter: mt...@outlook.com
  Target Milestone: Not decided

SUMMARY
Instantiating a Kirigami.Icon within a RowLayout causes a crash when no
Layout.preferredHeight/Layout.preferredWidth is specified.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create a Kirigami.OverlaySheet with a header as follows:
Kirigami.OverlaySheet {
id: sheet
header: RowLayout {
Kirigami.Icon {
source: "dialog-error"
}
}
// ...
}
2. Invoke sheet.open() to trigger the crash

OBSERVED RESULT
Application crashes

EXPECTED RESULT
Icon to render using implicit height/widths as loaded by the underlying QIcon

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows: Windows 10
Android: Android Emulator
macOS: NA
Linux/KDE Plasma: NA
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: NA
KDE Frameworks Version: Kirigami master
Qt Version: 5.12.6

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
When setting Layout.preferredHeight or Layout.preferredWidth explicitly, the
system does not crash. This seems like there's an issue where the RowLayout is
maybe setting the width/height to zero, or something invalid.
