Opened the file and switched to another composition

SUMMARY
Hello. I use the reference image tool tool and the Compositions at the same
time. Compositions of 7 pieces (a convenient thing, I draw a storyboard). So,
when you first open the file, all the refs are in place, but if you switch to
another composition and use the zoom, the refs are erased and can no longer be
used.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open file containing refs and compositions
2. Go from one song to another
3. Zoom in

OBSERVED RESULT
Refs will disappear

EXPECTED RESULT
Continue to use refs

I did logout/login test and now plasma wayland session starts in 1600x900, even
if I change to FullHD before logout. So somewhere display settings don't stick
in file. Of cause it is another problem, but could be related.

[valgrind] [Bug 417906] Please add support for Linux 5.2 CLONE_PIDFD flag to clone()

2020-02-20 Thread Tom Hughes
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=417906

--- Comment #4 from Tom Hughes  ---
The problem is not CLONE_PIDFD at all, it's the use of CLONE_VFORK without
CLONE_VM. It fails in the same way if you remove CLONE_PIDFD:

==171682== Memcheck, a memory error detector
==171682== Copyright (C) 2002-2017, and GNU GPL'd, by Julian Seward et al.
==171682== Using Valgrind-3.15.0 and LibVEX; rerun with -h for copyright info
==171682== Command: ./clone
==171682==
==171682== Unsupported clone() flags: 0x4000
==171682==
==171682== The only supported clone() uses are:
==171682== - via a threads library (LinuxThreads or NPTL)
==171682== - via the implementation of fork or vfork
==171682==
==171682== Valgrind detected that your program requires
==171682== the following unimplemented functionality:
==171682==Valgrind does not support general clone().
==171682== This may be because the functionality is hard to implement,
==171682== or because no reasonable program would behave this way,
==171682== or because nobody has yet needed it. In any case, let us know at
==171682== www.valgrind.org and/or try to work around the problem, if you can.
==171682==
==171682== Valgrind has to exit now. Sorry. Bye!
==171682==

We only support three basic modes of operation, defined by the values of the
following flags:

* CLONE_VM
* CLONE_FS
* CLONE_FILES
* CLONE_VFORK

Those modes are:

* thread creation (CLONE_VM, CLONE_FS and CLONE_FILES set)
* traditional vfork (CLONE_VFORK and CLONE_VM set)
* traditional fork (none of the above set)

We generally allow any combination of other flags however, it's just those four
that are required to choose which general mode of operation we are dealing
with.

Setting CLONE_VFORK on it's own has the effect of causing the parent to be
suspended until the child exits or execs but without the shared address space
that vfork would normally have. That makes it closer to fork than vfork really
and in any case valgrind transforms vfork to fork by removing the CLONE_VM flag
so I see no reason not to allow this combination.

I've never seen things become insanely slow myself; but in general, the more
pixels that need to be moved, the more work the pc has to do, and the more time
that takes. And it's even stranger that things get slow for you when you use
Krita full-screen, since that disables window manager compositing, which makes
Krita faster when using GPU accelaration for the canvas.

Is this all on the same PC, regardless of OS?

I tried to measure where context menu stops, then I got X=~1355px from 1920px

correctly. Similar situation vertically, for example links on webpages stops
work lower then Y>~871px of 1080px.

I'm sorry, but problems like this aren't bugs in Krita; they are problems with
drivers, or a local setup problem. In case the windows ink api has a better
implementation than the wintab api in this Huion driver, you can switch between
the two in Krita's settings dialog. Please give that a try first. You need to
restart Krita after switching.

[okular] [Bug 417909] New: RFE: Text and page background - dark themed

2020-02-20 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=417909

Bug ID: 417909
   Summary: RFE: Text and page background - dark themed
   Product: okular
   Version: 1.6.3
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: okular-de...@kde.org
  Reporter: pierre...@yahoo.com
  Target Milestone: ---

I'm reading a lot of pages using a notebook and with black text on a white page
it uses a lot of battery power. Now I know it is the amount of white the PC
have to lit up on the LCD that draws this power.

So this is what I'm wondering if Okular could be enhanced so that text and page
colour can be chosen? Not sure if PDFs would allow this, but as analogy I'm
thinking about the profiles for Appearance of Color Scheme & Background used in
KDE Konsole and how one can change these that suites a user's taste.

Now choosing an options for me like Dark Pastels from Konsole for Okular pages
would be super and my time on battery power greatly extended.

Please consider.
Pierre

(In reply to Michail Vourlakos from comment #3)

Yes, unfortunately that's the case on X11. We counter for this by subtracting
_GTK_FRAME_EXTENTS from the server-side geometry of the window. By doing it, we
don't need any drastic changes in KWin, for example we don't have to adjust our
window snapping code or window placement code. "Everything just works."

I can confirm that behaviour and would see the proposed change as an
improvement as well.
