I can confirm with my distro-provided package on neon.

When I build it locally, I only get this issue on a Debug build, not on
Release. So I wonder if maybe kpat gets built as debug build or some other
non-Release configuration for some reason?

[okular] [Bug 419109] Preserve extended attributes when saving a file

2020-04-09 Thread Stefan Brüns
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=419109

For "Save", I would definitely vote for "preserve as much as possible".

For "Save as ...", I am not sure. There are pros and cons for both
possibilities.

Cons:
- It may lead to information leakage. Tags, comments, origin-url ...
- Attributes may no longer apply

Pros:
- It still is mostly the same file
- Manual transfer of attributes is time consuming

Baloo itself does not care either way. As the file is created as a copy (and
the old one deleted), it is just a new file which happens to have the same
path.

I just tried this a recent version (2.30.3) and could not reproduce the issue
by using a regular association.

I found that directional and generalization are raising such a message.

Connecting an actor and a use case with a generalization does not make any
sense, so directional association is probably the association type your used.
Can you confirm ?

If so, it would be for interest what kind of relation a directional association
between an actor and a use case should be designed with ?

not a shortcut problem, but a "safety" problem: if merging layers cannot be
undone, it's important to have a confirmation popup before doing it.

to answer your question, merging frame would merge the frames of layers at a
specific time (and only those frames) while merging layers would merge every
frame of those layers.

For me it has also improved with linux-2.6.3 too.

But it also confirms, that we have two performance problems. The major one
probably haswell and suspend specific. And the second one that the compositor
is refreshing windows that don't change at all. (See comment 11)

If both issues hit at the same time, the frame rate drops.

[krita] [Bug 377387] merging animation layers should require a confirmation popup (merge layers / merge frames)

2020-04-09 Thread Tymond
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=377387

The purpose of the shortcut is to do something quickly, a popup would defeat
that purpose. People usually use this shortcut in their workflow multiple
times, there are even people who make a new layer, draw a stroke, erase parts
of it and then merge to the 'main' layer. Also we in general try to avoid
popups as much as possible, since they are often distracting.

If you have an issue with accidentaly merging layers, you should just remove
the shortcut or make it longer etc. to make sure it won't happen again.

The merging frames thing is interesting, but it would be a new action, most
probably.

Note for someone implementing, make sure it work correctly when on the current
time slot the result layer (on the bottom) or one of the to-merge layers don't
have a keyframe exactly in that time slot, but in some previous timeslots.
Especially if those keyframes are semi-transparent.

[krita] [Bug 419697] Random increase size brush when making strokes on all brushes.

2020-04-09 Thread Ahab Greybeard
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=419697

Those dark blue blobs are caused by a pressure signal spike that krita is
getting from your Samsung 9 Pro. Your animated recording also shows a large
position offset spike.
(Most of the 'painting' brush presets use pen pressure to increase opacity or
size in some way so that is why you see it on many brush presets. That Basic-2
Colour preset is designed to give only colour variation with pressure.)

If you use the tablet tester (Settings -> Configure Krita -> Tablet Settings -
> Open Tablet Tester), you'll probably see these in the record at the right as
you draw on the grid at the left.

Krita can only work with the signals that it is getting from your tablet/stylus
arrangement, via the driver and the operating system. Also, there are very many
people who are using 4.2.9 with many different types of drawing tablet with no
problem at all.

Hence Boud's Comment 6.

Timeline docker with two different HighDPI scaling

Then maybe let the user decide (for example by allowing it to resize, like with
frame size)? If the layer names are long and start similarly and the layers
name in the docker don't show them, there is no use of showing the layers names
at all since the user needs to guess anyway. And note that while English has
very show words, other languages often have longer ones. I had this issue
myself so I would prefer to have a solution...

Also it takes exactly max 13 characters, no matter how much space they take.
Try to write digits and 'lll', you're see the second one will be much shorter
unless you have Monospace font selected as your system font on Linux. In my
case, there is quite a lot of space after the layer name, actually. (Some space
is good, but it could be easily cut in half). (The image I attached shows two
scaling, the one above is my custom build, the one below is appimage, both has
a lot of space after the layer name).

Also note that there are people who have big screens with huge resolutions and
the limitation of the layers part of the docker just don't make sense there,
especially if they make short animation but with several layers involved (I
often duplicate my layers to work on the duplicated ones, hiding the old ones).

I believe it would be quite good if there was a way to adjust layers part of
the docker by the user.

[dolphin] [Bug 419875] New: More clearness for the folders in the places panel

2020-04-09 Thread Postix
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=419875

Bug ID: 419875
Summary: More clearness for the folders in the places panel
   Product: dolphin
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: panels: places
  Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: pos...@posteo.eu
CC: kfm-de...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

Places are a nice tool to pin folders for quick access.
However, having too many clutters the panel again. For example I have 3 folders
for university stuff, 2 for photography, 2 for programming, the the standard
home folders, etc.

To counter this, I think it'd be convenient to enhance it. Here are some ideas:

1) Category-Folders for folders
Similar to bookmarks like in the FireFox browser, folders in places could be
added to a "top-folder"

2) Folders, which belong a to certain category could gain a visual indicator,
like a special colored background, a colored bar on a side

3) Titles could be added above the folders

4) Separator lines could divide categories

I hope you understand my problem and maybe you even have better ideas how to
improve Dolphin in this section. :)

Additional observations:

This is occurs after you change any of the default fonts.
Also I see in the system log when you navigate away from this setting page:
Warning org.kde.fontinst Connecting to session bus
 Failed to register service!

If you hit the defaults button at the bottom of the page, you would think this
would go away after it resets the fonts to all the defaults. It does not, the
issue persists.

So what's the deal to tell Krita to switch to erase mode instead of paint mode,
if we pick from alpha and no solid Pixel(s)?
Imo, a nice shortcut instead to click some button on the top. Given the
occasion..

All pixels have color, even the completely transparent ones (although they
usually are just black). Especially with semi-transparent pixels we need to
think how would it affect picking colors.

yes, a nice shortcut - which means a separate 'action' from the implementation
point of view - would be good as well.

[krita] [Bug 389795] [Wishbug] Erase trough all layers

2020-04-09 Thread Jo
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=389795

(In reply to Tymond from comment #4)
> @Jo shouldn't you use inherit alpha instead?

With 'erase through all layers' I meant the cleanup of the outline of final
characters or objects. Therefore, erasing should be *destructive*in this case.

Clipping masks, erase layers and such are great if you deal with the solid part
of an object, but when you design characters you're gonna compose multiple
objects filling up the canvas.

All these elements are composed in layers but must be separate each other, else
you will end up in a mixed mess.

SUMMARY
I've created demo video with the bug:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1RxXezieDaVNh27wWU04lyTlA--BkRCPd/view?usp=sharing
In most cases it happens after couple of days of uptime. Restarting kwin solves
the problem. The bug affects not only video playback, but all application UI.
i.e. on 0:21 I click "add tab" and it appears only after repaint on 0:22.
Electron apps can also be affected in some rare cases.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
I haven't found any stable way to reproduce this. In mosy cases you just need 1
week of uptime and chrome running all the time.

I can reproduce this bug with KMail 5.9.2 (Qt 5.11.2 / KF 5.51) as well as
KMail 5.14.40 (Qt 5.14.1 / KF 5.69), i.e. if "Prefer HTML" is turned on
globally, activating the toggle HTML action to temporarily switch to plain text
does nothing.

This is regardless of whether I use the toolbar action, a shortcut or by
clicking on the HTML status bar itself.

FWIW, sometimes the following message is logged after every click on the HTML
status bar, although I'm not sure whether this is related at all:
WebEnginePage::javaScriptConsoleMessage lineNumber:  19  message:  "Uncaught
TypeError: Cannot read property 'compareDocumentPosition' of null"

someone suggested to "report it upstream on

[kmail2] [Bug 399245] Restore UI functionality related to "Show HTML side bar"

xchain changed:

See [1] for a workaround in the meantime, i.e. you can apply a stylesheet to
KMail to hide the bar. Compared to only changing colors (see Comment 5) this
takes up less space on the left.

Note that you can still add a button to the toolbar for switching to HTML
manually (although this does not work in the opposite direction, as documented
in Bug 375314).

IDEA: Currently that toolbar button does not show whether an HTML part is
available. Maybe setting the enabled/disabled state appropriately could be
implemented, since the HTML bar already has code to distinguish between "No
HTML Message [available]" and "Plain Message [, HTML available]".

[valgrind] [Bug 345077] linux syscall execveat support (linux 3.19)

2020-04-09 Thread Mark Wielaard
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=345077

(In reply to Alexandra Hajkova from comment #6)
> Created attachment 127385 [details]
> patch

We discussed this on irc a bit:

- Nicely split the generic code from the execve and execveat PRE handlers.
- The test for whether it is an absolute PATH is wrong, should be (path[0] !=
'/').
- abs_path needs to be allocate before use.
- Because abs_path and buf are allocated they need to be VG_(free) at the end
after handle_pre_sys_execve returns (which means the syscall failed, otherwise
the function doesn't return).
- Because path might now be replaced the am_is_valid_for_client check should be
moved from the generic code to the execve and execveat PRE handlers.
- Since glibc doesn't have a wrapper yet, best to have our own syscall wrapper
in the testcase (with a prereq check case, then you can unconditionally
add/compile the test and you can get rid of the configure.ac tests and
HAVE_EXECVEAT conditional).
- Testcase needs to test errors before success case (because success never
returns).

[plasmashell] [Bug 419883] New: The ordering of the activities in the activity switcher is inconsistent with the activity pager

2020-04-09 Thread Steve Phelps
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=419883

Bug ID: 419883
Summary: The ordering of the activities in the activity
switcher is inconsistent with the activity pager
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.10.4
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Activity Switcher
  Assignee: ivan.cu...@kde.org
  Reporter: phelps...@gmail.com
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: 1.0

SUMMARY

Many users rely on a specific ordering of activities when switching between
them. Activities can be arranged in a specific sequence in the activity pager
by giving them names prefixed by a number; e.g. "1- General, 2- Development, 3-
System". However, the sequence of the activities that appears in the activity
switcher is different from the sequence in the pager. The activity switcher
shows the current activity as the first activity, and then sorts the remaining
activities.

This causes very confusing behaviour when the user switches to the next
activity using the "Walk through activities" global keyboard short-cut. For
example, if the user wishes to switch to activity 4, when the current activity
is 2, then it is natural to press the short-cut twice, to go from activity 2 ->
3 -> 4 in the activity pager.  However, pressing the next-activity short-cut
twice actually toggles 2 -> 3 -> 2, because of the counter-intuitive behaviour
of the activity switcher.

The activity switcher should *not* sort the activities so that the current
activity appears first. It should preserve the lexicographic-ordering of the
sequences, and simply highlight the current activity, rather than moving it to
the top of the list. This would make the activity switcher a lot more usable
and less confusing, especially when using it concurrently with the activity
pager.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Configure more than two activities
2. Name the activities so that they appear in a specific sequence.
3. Add an activity pager to the panel.
4. Select the first activity.
5. Press "Walk through activities" global short-cut twice.

OBSERVED RESULT

Activities switch in the sequence 1 -> 2 -> 1.

EXPECTED RESULT

Activities switch in the sequence 1 -> 2 -> 3.

I'm having the same issue as Junfeng; Right-click on the system tray area only
shows the "Configure System Tray..." menu. Left-click on a systray icon
sometimes presents a context menu, sometimes not.

To get the expected right-click behavior of an individual icon's context menu,
I have to L_CTRL+R-Click in order to get the expected menu to present. This can
be seen in KDE as well as non-KDE systray applets such as KNotes,
pamac-tray-indicator, and Steam's tray indicator as examples.

The activity switcher sorts activities in the most recently used order. Like
the window switcher (alt+tab) which it is designed after.

If you want to have keyboard shortcuts follow the pager ordering, you can
undefine the 'walk through' shortcuts and define 'switch to next/previous
activity'.

Catch getSubsystemStatus failing on initial load

Silences an error when host is not connected on e.g. unsupported OS.
We could perhaps also check if the OS is supported but needs further testing
since
getPlatformInfo is asynchronous and we want those feature to be available as
early
in the website DOM/API as possible.

content security policy but that would be quite a hassle to get working, so I'd
rather not). Media controls seem to work again, though.
