[kwin] [Bug 425856] New: Kwin FPS inconsistent after kwin is suspended

2020-08-26 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=425856

Bug ID: 425856
Summary: Kwin FPS inconsistent after kwin is suspended
   Product: kwin
   Version: 5.19.4
  Platform: Manjaro
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: odzi...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
When kwin gets suspended and resumed through either manual suspension
(ctrl+shift+F12), application block composition or suspending the pc, the FPS
becomes very unstable. For example, playing a video or highlighting icons on
the desktop will cause the FPS to drop from 100 to 60 (which is the lowest
refresh rate I have in my monitor setup) until I pause the video or stop
highlighting the desktop. The FPS will then go back up to 100.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Suspend and resume kwin
2. Play a video/animation/drag around a highlight box on your desktop

OBSERVED RESULT
FPS is not stable and drops down to the lowest refresh rate in the system (in
this example 60 fps with a 144hz/60hz monitor setup)

EXPECTED RESULT
FPS stays stable

Operating System: Manjaro Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 5.19.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.73.0
Qt Version: 5.15.0
Kernel Version: 5.8.3-2-MANJARO
OS Type: 64-bit
Processors: 8 × Intel® Core™ i7-6700K CPU @ 4.00GHz
Memory: 15.6 GiB of RAM
Graphics Processor: GeForce GTX 1080 Ti/PCIe/SSE2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The issue goes away once I make my icon-only task manager appear from auto-hide
or I restart kwin. This fixes it when kwin was manually suspended,
automatically suspended or suspended by a short PC suspend. I will try testing
this with an overnight PC suspend as well. I have tested this out on the Nvidia
440 and 450 drivers and it occurs on both.

[frameworks-plasma] [Bug 425852] New: disable middle click to paste to increase usability of KDE applications and KDE desktop

2020-08-26 Thread Lukas Ba.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=425852

Bug ID: 425852
Summary: disable middle click to paste to increase usability of
KDE applications and KDE desktop
   Product: frameworks-plasma
   Version: 5.73.0
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: components
  Assignee: notm...@gmail.com
  Reporter: k...@web.de
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Add a setting to to disable middle click to paste to increase usability.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Copy text with the mouse.
2. Select a text box or hover over the text box and click middle mouse button.

OBSERVED RESULT
The contents of the copied text are pasted into the text box.

EXPECTED RESULT
There should be an option in Systemsettings > Mouse.
If enabled, middle clicking on text entry boxes should not paste the content
from the clipboard into the text entry box.
Note that the middle mouse button should continue working for other purposes,
for example to close a tab.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

KDE Plasma Version: 5.19.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.73.0
Qt Version: 5.15.0
Kernel Version: 5.8.3-arch1-1
OS Type: 64-bit

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I have previously suggested this bug here
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=374892
and it was suggested i should file this as a bug against Qt, which would affect
all Qt applications
https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-58087#
but as you can see the Qt developers are too lazy to work on this.

Thus i am opening it as a new bug against KDE, with the scope being KDE
applications and the KDE desktop.

It's been 5 years since this bug was opened. Can we please just use the event
script solution i suggested? This should be as simple as editing some default
configuration files to add the xset commands below.

To reduce the delay until the screen is turned off, when the screen is locked.
Go to System Settings > Notifications > Event Source: Screen Saver
Click on "Screen locked"
Enable "Run command" and copy this into the text box
/usr/bin/xset dpms 69
To reset the delay until the screen is turned off to the longer value, when the
screen is unlocked.
/usr/bin/xset dpms 420

> Also is there an example of an app that has transparency but not request blur?
Windows which are "shaped" (i.e. are not rectangular) use transparency, but do
not need blur.

You would need to detect full transparency vs. partial transparency. If you can
come up with a plan how to do this without checking the alpha component of each
pixel, please share. The better option is of course to announce if blur is
needed, and (even better) at which region.

(In reply to Christoph Feck from comment #1)

Doesn't work for me with Dolphin v18.08.0.
And it would be far more appropriate, intuitive, useful and user-friendly if
there were some GUI controls to search for tags - for example a button "tags"
where you can enter the tags and then it simply modifies the search-string to
append "tag:tag-name".

When I enter a tag like this it doesn't show the files with that tag in the
search results (it shows no search results).

[krusader] [Bug 425846] New: Too long delays are noticed when entering big 7z files

2020-08-26 Thread Toni Asensi Esteve
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=425846

Bug ID: 425846
Summary: Too long delays are noticed when entering big 7z files
   Product: krusader
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: krarc
  Assignee: krusader-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: toni.ase...@kdemail.net
CC: krusader-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
When entering and browsing big 7z files: users experience too long delays.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Creating a big 7z archive, e.g.: `7z a /tmp/test-big.7z /usr/bin`
2. Entering the archive, finding too big delays then (and also when browsing
the archive).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Those facts may help:
- When noticing a large delay, if e.g. `htop` is executed, then it's seen that
a `7z -y t` [...] process is using a lot of CPU. When the large delay ends,
that 7z process is not seen using e.g. `htop`.

[Akonadi] [Bug 425606] Akonadi server fails with MariaDB 10.5.5

2020-08-26 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=425606

taey...@oro.sodimm.me changed:

   What|Removed |Added

 CC||taey...@oro.sodimm.me

I am not entirely sure whether this is the same issue, but the
usr.bin.akonadiserver (as well as mysqld_akonadi) AppArmor profile is broken
with MariaDB 10.5.x.

Apparently, 10.5.x renamed all paths and executables to be mariadb-branded
while the mysql versions are now symlinks (I believe the inverse was true up to
10.4.x); which messes up the Akonadi AA profiles pretty thoroughly, since AA
works with paths and seems to (sensibly) always follow links for permission
checks.

Relevant MariaDB (server) PR: https://github.com/MariaDB/server/pull/1544

This would (at least in my case) result in EACCES when trying to start the
database server:
org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: process error: "execvp: Permission denied"

This can be worked around by disabling AA for akonadi (sudo aa-disable
/usr/bin/akonadiserver).

This is on Arch Linux with Applications 20.08.0-1, Frameworks 5.73.0-1, Qt
5.15.0-4 and MariaDB 10.5.5-2.

If you press Ctrl+F in Dolphin to open the Baloo search, then you should be
able to search by tags or other attributes. e.g.:

tag:Holidays type:Image

Baloo requires that the files get indexed to know about these attributes.

KFind doesn't use Baloo search, as far as I know.

SUMMARY
When adding brushes to a custom tag group in the brush presets docker, the
default tags are duplicated: https://i.imgur.com/xvcj1q7.png
Restarting the program fixes the problem, until one decides to add to custom
tag groups again, in the brush presets docker.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create a custom tag group in brush presets
2. Start adding brushes to that custom tag group
3. Default tags that are below the custom tag are duplicated, "My Favorites" is
duplicated the most.

OBSERVED RESULT
Adding brushes to a custom tag causes duplication of default tags.

EXPECTED RESULT
Default tags are not duplicated.

Hi, Wren!

There is a bug in Qt that causes problems with cursor. In our AppImages we
patch Qt to fix this issue, it looks like Ubuntu didn't pull those patches.

Please try AppImage packages from our official site:
https://krita.org/en/download/krita-desktop/

They should not have this problem :)

PS:
If you still have the problem with an AppImage please reopen the bug :)
