[systemsettings] [Bug 427746] shortcut names with numbers are not naturally sorted
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=427746 --- Comment #4 from Adam Fontenot --- Thanks - it looks like LC_COLLATE=en_US seems to fix the problem without breaking too many other things. By the way, the Arch wiki recommends LC_COLLATE=C for better results in sorting things with terminal commands like ls. For example, "en_US.utf8" will not sort dotfiles before other files ("en_US" does), which is probably unexpected. I believe LC_COLLATE=C is or was the default on new Arch Linux installations. Also, I'm not sure if it makes sense to respect the locale for something like this. It seems like a user might reasonably enough want to use one setting in the terminal, and another setting in a GUI program like systemsettings. (Is there ever a reason a user would *not* want to sort the shortcut names naturally?) There's no option in systemsettings to change the COLLATE locale, so it's unexpected behavior (for me anyway) that it affects the sort order. It didn't occur to me as a possibility. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kmymoney] [Bug 427519] Merge of Payees Deletes all Payees when an error occurs
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=427519 --- Comment #4 from Jack --- Since you have done successful merges before, my guess is there is some problem with a transaction for one of the Payees to be deleted, which interrupts the reassignment of transactions to the chosen Payee. Again, only a guess, but I wonder if something other than the Payee-id is changed in a transaction, which is then left in some invalid state, no longer associated with any payee. In any case, a few more questions to help troubleshoot. If you do the merge, and then save the file (or maybe just run a consistency check) does KMM complain about anything related to the merged payees or the missing transactions? Can you find any of the missing transactions by looking in the ledger for the relevant account and date? Here I'm wondering if the transactions are actually still present, but there is only some problem in the display in the Payees View. Have you ever saved the file (to a new name so you don't overwrite your good backup) and then opened it again? Can you save an anonymized version of the file? If so, can you identify the three payees to be merged, and which one you want to keep? In the anonymized files, Payees are just named by their internal ID, so for example, you can do 'grep "PAYEE.*PetSmart" file.xml' or 'zgrep "PAYEE.*PetSmart" file.kmy' to find the id for that Payee. If you can replicate the problem with the anonymized file, there is a better chance of myself or one of the developers identifying the underlying problem. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

If you're using the default Breeze settings, which has the dark title bar, the shadow is basically invisible when the window is focused. However, if you're using the light title bar, especially with gradients disabled, it ends up looking very strange and bad on the focused window - to the point it's kind of distracting for maximized windows that the user wants to focus on. However that *just one thing* differs > so widely from person to person that we can't really add enough options to > satisfy everyone without making the Breeze theme a meta-theme that would > horn in on many other 3rd-party themes' reasons for existing. > > So I think this has to stay the way it is in the default Breeze theme, > sorry. :) Feel free to create a "breeze shadowless panel" theme though! I think the big issue here is that I like the panel shadow and I don't want to get rid of it. I just want windows to be drawn on *top* of the shadow, not below it. So the only thing the shadow should appear on top of is the Desktop. This is what macOS appears to do, for example; it makes for a nice clean edge between the panel and a maximized window. So effectively to solve this I'd need to be able to change whatever the equivalent of z-index is for this platform to fix this, and I would be surprised if this can be done from a theme. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=427842 Bug ID: 427842 Summary: Autoconf-based dependencies currently ignore the Android ABI architecture Product: krita Version: nightly build (please specify the git hash!) Platform: Android OS: Android 9.x Status: REPORTED Severity: major Priority: NOR Component: General Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: a...@amyspark.me Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY As logged on https://binary-factory.kde.org/job/Krita_Android_arm64-v8a_Dependency_Build/lastBuild/consoleFull , the 3rdparty toolchain does not forward the Android ABI target to Autoconf-based dependencies. This bug does not currently cause any issues because the involved dependency, libiconv, is not found by exiv2; if one fixes that by setting CMAKE_FIND_ROOT_PATH, the dependency build will correctly detect a mismatch between libiconv.so and libexiv's archs and fail at link time. Now, that's no longer possible and requires some muscle-memory re-training, which makes me go back to the "pseudo-discarded" window all the time. https://xkcd.com/1172/ I'm sure the new behavior makes sense to a lot of people, but this was well-established behavior, that some of us count on :'( Thanks for listening. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=427723 Nate Graham changed: What|Removed |Added Status|REPORTED|RESOLVED Resolution|--- |INTENTIONAL --- Comment #6 from Nate Graham --- Thanks for the detailed explanation. I share a lot of your criticisms with the other launcher menus, and I hope that the upcoming overhaul (https://phabricator.kde.org/T12192) will address them. However I have to veto this idea, sorry. :) If you eliminate the hover behavior in Kicker and require a click to open a sub-menu, you've made navigating an app hierarchy nearly as slow as in Kickoff, which is a valid criticism of Kickoff and a reason why people prefer Kicker. If we did this, we'd piss off tons and tons and tons of people. So if we did it, it would have to be a configurable option. But who would enable that option? You, clearly, because you requested it. :) But besides you, I don't think it would ever be touched by anyone else, because it eliminates one of the major advantages of Kicker. People would look at it and say "lol this is the 'make Kicker worse' option, don't touch that." It would be the kind of option that folks would propose removing in 5 years after realizing that nobody ever used it because it doesn't make conceptual sense given what Kicker is. So I'm sorry, but I don't think we'll be able to implement your proposal. :) Of course, feel free to implement this yourself and post it to store.kde.org as an alternative. Maybe I'm wrong and it would be a good idea. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[plasmashell] [Bug 425258] Dragged items aren't under the mouse cursor but shifted downward
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=425258 --- Comment #9 from Claudius Ellsel --- Created attachment 132448 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=132448=edit Mockup based on previous screenshot showing the expected behavior (In reply to Nate Graham from comment #8) > Can you please attach a mockup that shows how you expect this to look in > various situations? Starting from my previous screenshot I created a mockup showing my expectations. I think other situations should behave similarly: If the cursor that drags the file icon is over a surface that a file can be dragged then highlight that surface. Currently the surface gets only hightlighted if the cursor is offset by a decent space from the surface. This is not how this works on any other operating system or desktop environment I know, thus I am rather sure, this is a bug. Maybe better tracked in a different place, but since my old report was marked as duplicate of this, I am using this one for now. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[plasmashell] [Bug 427836] New: Switch Desktop mouse action doesn't work if desktop layout has been set to Folder View
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=427836 Bug ID: 427836 Summary: Switch Desktop mouse action doesn't work if desktop layout has been set to Folder View Product: plasmashell Version: 5.20.0 Platform: Archlinux Packages OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk Reporter: hesamghol...@yahoo.com CC: plasma-b...@kde.org Target Milestone: 1.0 SUMMARY If you have some virtual desktops in a column, you should be able to switch between them using your mouse wheel. The related settings are placed in Configure Desktop and Wallpaper ... -> Mouse Actions -> Vertical Scroll -> Switch Desktop. But this feature is not working when you set desktop Layout to Folder View in Wallpaper section of the same window. So if you set Layout to Desktop, it will work as expected, but not the other way. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Create some virtual desktops beneath each other, like a column. 2. Go to Configure Desktop and Wallpaper ... -> Mouse Actions and make sure Vertical Scroll is set to Switch Desktop. 3. Again right click on desktop and go to Configure Desktop and Wallpaper ... -> Wallpaper and make sure Layout is set to Folder View. 4. Now try to scroll on an empty place of desktop and see there will be no response. OBSERVED RESULT If you scroll on an empty section on desktop, you can't see any feedback. EXPECTED RESULT Virtual desktop must be moved up or down, as you scroll on an empty section of desktop. [plasmashell] [Bug 427723] Option to disable opening sub-menus on hover
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=427723 medin changed: What|Removed |Added Resolution|INTENTIONAL |--- Status|RESOLVED|REPORTED --- Comment #5 from medin --- (In reply to Nate Graham from comment #4) > It may sound like I'm being thick here but I asked because I'm genuinely > surprised by the request. :) Allow me to explain: > > Kicker implements a launcher menu that matches the UX of a traditional > cascading menu, like the ones in your apps' menubars. Having items open > sub-menus on hover is therefore deliberate; that's the UX of a cascading > menu. Since Kicker is not the default launcher menu, it's expected that > people who go out of their way to switch to it are people who like the UX of > cascading menus. If you're not one of those people, I genuinely suggest that > Kicker isn't right for you, and you might be happier with Kickoff (the > default launcher menu), Application Dashboard, or SimpleMenu, none of whigh > use the cascading menu paradigm. I tried all of them : - Kickoff is good but has separated tabs for favorites, apps, history and system actions, this separation makes the menu slow to complete simple tasks, for example if I wanted to restart I should press meta key then select "Leave" tab then click restart. - Simple menu is good but not suitable for mouse use and doesn't look nice with those huge icons and when there are lot of apps you should swipe by mouse left and right to get other apps or click on those small white dots at bottom which are difficult to locate using mouse pointer. And the system actions (restart, shutdown...) are located at top right and have really small icon size which contradicts the big size of apps icons. - The only reasonable, good, logical and well implemented is kicker, you can directly access history apps/files/folders, and favorites and system actions and apps are all well put together in single view without need to separate them to different tabs, for example if I want to restart I should press meta key then click restart which is much simpler than kickoff menu logic. This is what makes kicker the best menu for me, what I want is not remove cascading design but only trigger the appearance of sub-items in the menu by mouse left click rather by mouse hover. With this the user can pass the mouse pointer over the menu and choose any favorite pinned app without being distracted by those automatic hovers that show the menu sub-items. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
