[krunner] [Bug 429177] wayland: krunner position no longer follows window rules and can't be set to "under mouse"

2020-12-08 Thread Duncan
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=429177

--- Comment #3 from Duncan <1i5t5.dun...@cox.net> ---
(In reply to Alexander Lohnau from comment #2)
> Actually KRunner is supposed to follow the mouse, but on wayland there is
> currently no way of getting the cursor position. Also there is no primary
> monitor concept, which could be a workaround.

I'd read about wayland lacking the primary monitor concept in other bugs.
Unfortunate.

As for follows-mouse, kwin as compositor has to know the mouse position,
correct? And it can enforce under-mouse on other windows -- I have a kwin
window placement rule that does just that for the troublesome
appmenu-in-titltebar menu-popup, which otherwise follows the general least
overlapping rule and ends up way across the screen -- troublesome when you have
focus-follows mouse set as you can't get there without changing focus away from
the window whose menu you are trying to work with.

Unfortunately, apparently krunner is a plasmashell window, and plasmashell
windows get to override kwin's window rules, even user-set ones! (I've seen
that mentioned in other bugs.) That explains why krunner ignores the
under-mouse window-rule I've set for it. If I could just find out where that
ignore was coded I could try to hack-patch that out and my krunner window rule
would work as it should. But so far that has eluded me.

[krita] [Bug 430141] New: Bug?

Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR

  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org

SUMMARY

A. I would highly recommend supporting touchpads as they are part of every
laptops keyboard in existence.

Again, the command Ctrl+spacebar to move around a picture while zoomed in does
not work in Windows 10 on my Dell laptop. I would test it on other devices but
don't have access right now. I'm using a Dell latitude. Please do not erase as
volunteer might eventually be able to test this if you do not have a laptop.

B. Also, another thing, when using a Huion pen, I noticed that Ctrl+ e
works for zooming but also merges a layer, is it possible to set them
separately?

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Use any laptop keyboard or Use a Huion Pen
2. attempt hotkey
3.

OBSERVED RESULT
conflict or not working as properly

EXPECTED RESULT
Easy movement of image while zoomed in
 (or)
Zoomability without merging

How big are the files/directories concerned ?

Are the files on your local computer (not a network mount) ?

Do you have a fast hard disk (aka a SSD)?

Do you have some logs from dolphin when this happens ?

[tellico] [Bug 429803] Import Audio File Metadata does not work since version 3.3

2020-12-08 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=429803

Yes, all mp3 files are from the same album and there are no other files in that
folder.
The bug originally came up for me with 3.3.1 on my FLAC music collection, so
the bug is not related to mp3 files only. The structure of that collection is:
One folder for each album, containing the music files and a cover.jpg which I
import manually as a link.

I switched to mp3 album/files just for testing with a new collection.
When the for loop in line 191 exits on the first run the program never reaches
a breakpoint on line 260, so I think it has to do with this this bug. The for
loop is closed in line 388, so in my opinion it is not just for scanning
.directory files.

Could you check if the issue is just that dolphin view does not refresh as soon
as the file is deleted.

Like running in a separate term watch 0.1 -n ls my-file-deteled while deleting
a file in dolphin.

If that's the case, it might an inotify/KDirWatch issue not working properly,
probably because of the inotify limits.

What is your distribution ? KDE Neon User Edition ?

This is an issue tracker, not a user support forum. If you're not sure that
what you're reporting is a bug, discuss your problems on
https://krita-artists.org.

Note: never report two issues in one bug report, and make sure the report has a
useful title.

As for the proper way of reporting bugs, see:
https://docs.krita.org/en/untranslatable_pages/reporting_bugs.html

1. ctrl-space-click-drag zooms, it doesn't pan. Space-click-drag pans. Both
shortcuts work with my lenovo laptop's touchpad with Windows 10.

2. ctrl-e is the default shortcut for merging layers in Krita. In krita, that
shortcut has nothing to do with zooming. If it is mapped to zoom in the huion
tablet settings, you've got a conflict that you need to resolve by making sure
your settings don't conflict.

What about those situations where you directly place the widget on the panel?
There is no header nor pin button there.

The easiest solution I can come up with is to switch the current header with
the footer. I will think about other solutions, but this seems the one that
requires the least amount of work (as far as I can imagine, not knowing
anything about the underlying code).

- kitemviews/{kfileitemmodel.cpp, kstandarditemmodel.cpp}

I believe. Can someone point me a bit in the right direction (to find out why
it takes too long for certain (network) filesystems == places where there is a
lot of io for determing the mimetype). If you can point me also to other
sources like designnotes, important discussions etc please let me know.

And where can I write and share my idea's. That's not here. Is there a
developerscorner or something simular for dolphin?

I would like dolphin to be able to highlight the file that is being modified
with a color change, for example with a copy in detailed view mode or in any
other view. And that that color could be changed.

I've been waiting for that feature for many years. I have not found any

I am not sure how well musl libc is supported in the first place. It seems
alpine linux is the only distro that has it as default, so if your change
doesn't work for them then that seems not good. There must be a better way to
detect musl at configure time. Since we need to know about various internals of
the C library to properly function, it would be nice to have a more solid test.

[frameworks-kio] [Bug 178678] Navigating mounted network locations is extremely slow in Dolphin compared to command line

2020-12-08 Thread Harald Sitter
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=178678

One would first need to understand why it blocks and for that you need to catch
it in the act, as it were. When it locks up grab a backtrace with gdb and that
should tell you where you need to look in the code. Alternatively you could try
finding the blocking code as a hot spot via perf or hotspot or callgrind, but
I'm not entirely certain you'll see it in the sea of otherwise unrelated but
also expensive code paths.

That being said, in my investigation I've found numerous blocking paths and
isolated them into standalone bug reports (they are all linked at the top in
the see also section) so I'd encourge you to check them out lest you try to
track down an already known problem. The unfortunate thing is that as I recall
Germano's description of his dolphin setup wouldn't hit any of the code paths
I've found as they all had to do with either the dolphin side bar or
thumbnails. Simply put the only thing his dolphin actually does is stat urls
for the dolphin file view and every once in a while update the free disk space
info. Neither should be so slow as to cause micro blocking.

it fails with all of them.

[digikam] [Bug 430147] New: Search and escaping of database wildcard characters in filenames

2020-12-08 Thread Quincy
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=430147

Bug ID: 430147
Summary: Search and escaping of database wildcard characters in
filenames
   Product: digikam
   Version: 7.1.0
  Platform: Microsoft Windows
OS: Microsoft Windows
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Searches-Advanced
  Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: bbc.qui...@gmx.de
  Target Milestone: ---

I have filenames with underscores "_" in them separating information encoded in
them e.g. "56_1607099331_270_3.tif" where the information is an id, a
timestamp, a rotation angle and a camera id.

To tag those files properly I wanted to use the (mighty) search tool, but there
are several things working differently than expected:
Using the "keyword search" (not the "advanced search") with "_270_" also yields
results with filenames containing e.g. "12709". Obviously this field does not
use usual wildcards for file managers ("*" and "?") but the database (in my
case SQLite) ones for a "LIKE" query which are "_" and "%". This is not
documented on
https://docs.kde.org/trunk5/en/extragear-graphics/digikam/using-digikam.html#using-mainwindow-searchesview,
instead it is stated that special characters are ignored.
It is not possible (or I did not find how) to escape those characters to search
for a "real" underscore e.g. escaping with "\" (even multiple ones) does not
work.
The same applies for the advanced search with the "File name" field.

Thanks in advance for having a look into that issue and the great work on this
software.

>I hoped it will solve major part of the problem,
Not, it not. I switch language layouts A LOT, seeing an OSD for every change is
very bad decision, i already see that layout is changed in applet in tray, why
do i need an OSD for action that i perform tens of time per a minute? In
windows, for example, i do not see an OSD for layout change when i press
ctrl+shift, in x11 plasma there is no OSD too, thankfully, and i happy with it.
If you want this OSD very bad, then please, make all OSD configurable (allowing
me to disable this one leaving others intant), otherwise i will be forced to
disable OSD (i don't want this),

SUMMARY

There seem to be a general issue with opening files through kdeconnect directly
on desktop (say using dolphin).

Opening pdfs completely fails (see https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=430146)

Opening music or video files is very hit and miss, sometimes it works fine for
the whole song (in my experience videos have to be very very short for it to
work), sometimes it only plays for a bit and then stops (or jumps to the end),
sometimes it does not start at all (music tried with VLC and Elisa, videos
tried with VLC).

[dolphin] [Bug 430131] There is a delay in deleting files

2020-12-08 Thread Méven Car
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=430131

> I will do it, tell me please if it's a wrong behavior.

It is fine, now we have better defined the bug.

But without reproducing it there is not much things we can do.
Debugging by reading code can be very inefficient, and this feature involves
two code bases Dolphin and KIO.

So we would need to check if it is distro specific, since I don't reproduce it
with kubuntu or neon, but that's not unlikely.

Better use other debugging means like gdb.
You would need to install dolphin and kio debug symbols.
And then a stack trace of dolphin process when the deletion is being delayed.
I can help.

I worked a while back to make deletion non-blocking by doing it more async with
a background thread https://phabricator.kde.org/D24962 could it that regressed
things on your system.

I wonder if there is a connect with the general sftp data corruption bug that
affects KDE Connect (https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=405847) in that
opening files directly on desktop will involve data transfer and so the data
might get corrupted on the way.

[dolphin] [Bug 430131] There is a delay in deleting files

2020-12-08 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=430131

I found something new, if I wait for about two seconds on the confirmation
dialog, then I press "enter" key to delete files it has no delay.

Does it say that the problem may be the confirmation dialog?

[kmail2] [Bug 430149] New: YubiKey GPG support

2020-12-08 Thread Taavi
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=430149

Bug ID: 430149
   Summary: YubiKey GPG support
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 5.15.3
  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: crypto
  Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: ta...@zone.ee
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
There's currently no existing/documented way of using YubiKey for signing,
encrypting and decrypting e-mail with KMail. This integration would be very
useful because things like Thunderbird have broken theirs with no fix in sight.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. ???

EXPECTED RESULT
People can select "gpg-agent/YubiKey" as their OpenPGP key under "Edit
Identity" menu.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: Fedora 33
KDE Plasma Version: 5.20.3
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.75.0

[umbrello] [Bug 430150] New: Missing support for changing the type of sequence messages

2020-12-08 Thread Ralf Habacker
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=430150

Bug ID: 430150
Summary: Missing support for changing the type of sequence
messages
   Product: umbrello
   Version: 2.33.0 (KDE releases 20.12.0)
  Platform: Other
OS: All
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: umbrello-de...@kde.org
  Reporter: ralf.habac...@freenet.de
  Target Milestone: ---

It happens from time to time, that you have to change the type of created
messages e.g. from synchronous to asynchronous and vice versa when designing
software. Currently this is only possible by deleting and creating new
messages, where the previous text has to be entered again.
It would be helpful if the type could be changed directly in the options of a
message.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. start umbrello
2. add sequence diagram
3. add two objects
4. add a synchronous message with a long text for a custom operation
5. try to change the type of the message to asychronous

OBSERVED RESULT
There is not way to change the type of the mentioned message. You need to
recreate the message.

EXPECTED RESULT
There should be a way to change the type of the mentioned message

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
As an addition to a new entry in the sequence message options dialog, a
corresponding context menu entry would be useful.

[valgrind] [Bug 382083] Failure to detect MUSL consistently.

2020-12-08 Thread Paul Floyd
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=382083

>From what I've seen on Alpine, the basic musl support is there (e.g., for
memcheck) but there are quite a few issues (regtest build failures, helgrind
totally broken).

The musl detection on Alpine seems OK at the moment. This item is for running
musl on glibc systems - I tried it on Fedora 33 amd64. In this case musl
provides a GCC wrapper which I imagine just adds -nostdlib and all tghe lib
options for musl. It's this wrapper that configure is failing to detect.

The patch uses stderr redirection that only works with bash (and maybe zsh),
and it looks like Alpine is using ash. I used "2>&1 |" instead, which I think
works on all of the bourne family that autoconf might be using.

I'll look a bit more at making the grep pattern a bit safer.

[kdev-python] [Bug 430151] New: Documentation is missing at least on setting up venv

2020-12-08 Thread Serhiy Zahoriya
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=430151

Bug ID: 430151
Summary: Documentation is missing at least on setting up venv

   Version: 5.5.0
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Documentation data
  Assignee: m...@svenbrauch.de
  Reporter: serhiy@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
At least with Kdevelop 5.5.0 it's not clear how to set up a workflow with a
virtual environment

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. python3 -m venv venvname
2. source venvname/bin/activate
3. pip install matplotlib
4. Create a project in KDevelop with import matplotlib

OBSERVED RESULT
Far from obvious how should venv be set up. Forums didn't really help.
https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=218&t=123855 And even need to read the
forum to set up a basic feature is a problem.

EXPECTED RESULT
Setting up Python venv is documented.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
KDevelop 5.5.0, irrelevant because it's about documentation

AK-47 changed:

   What|Removed |Added

Version|5.19.90 |5.20.3
   Platform|Other |RedHat RPMs

Update: bug still exists on 5.20.3, but slightly different steps to reproduce:

1. Change to vertical task bar.
2. launch multiple applications as described previously.
3. Bring the focus to another application in another group.
4. Click on the tile menu that has a group, in which none of the applications
are currently focus.

Same thing happens. However, if one of the apps are already in focus, then
clicking on the task manager tile will cycle through the windows in the group.

To select an app from a tile with no apps in focus, you need to hover over it
and click on the correct tile.

Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: kcm_fonts
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: anditosan1...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
In the fonts KCM, selecting different fonts changes that height of the text
field to show the selected font. If the font is bigger than the space allowed
in the field, then the field will change. This is because we try to accurately
represent the sizes that the fonts will take when selected. However, this makes
for an odd visual inconsistency for the user.

This can be solved by having a preview area. This is already being proposed. My
suggestion would be that if the preview area is accepted, the fields below
should "not" try to preview font size and only preview font family.

[okular] [Bug 430153] New: Custom stamp doesn't automatically appear under the stamps drop-down menu

2020-12-08 Thread David de Cos
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=430153

Bug ID: 430153
Summary: Custom stamp doesn't automatically appear under the
stamps drop-down menu
   Product: okular
   Version: 1.11.3
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: okular-de...@kde.org
  Reporter: david.de...@ehu.eus
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

Once you successfully add a custom stamp to your annotations tools, it doesn't
show up in your stamps drop-down menu right away. You have to select it first
in your Quick Annotations menu, and only then it shows up in your stamps menu.
Moreover, it doesn't stay in that menu after reopening Okular.

In my opinion, this is counter-intuitive and makes things harder for the user
to find, because:

1- You may not even have a Quick Annotations menu in your panel (as was my
case).

2- Since you have just added a custom stamp, who wouldn't expect it to show up
in the list where the other stamps are? Most users would probably think the
thing is simply not working, as I did.

RELEVANT INFO:
This is a follow-up bug to Bug 383652.

For those, the configure button remains where it currently is in 5.20, so,
yeah, that means the footer for this applet.

Moving the tab bar to the footer area, and the footer toolbar to the header
position is trivial, code-wise. But we thought that having tabs below the
content rather than above it was weird.

[kate] [Bug 430156] New: logs me out when started for second time (apt, not snap)

2020-12-08 Thread Edvard Rejthar
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=430156

Bug ID: 430156
Summary: logs me out when started for second time (apt, not
snap)
   Product: kate
   Version: 20.08.2
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kwrite-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: k...@edvard.cz
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

I've recently upgraded to Ubuntu 20.10. However, kate's apt version is
dysfunctional.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Start kate, screen trembles a little bit. However everything works.
2. End kate
3. Start kate for the second time, a window appears with the text similar to
"Oh no! Something has gone wrong." and "A problem has occurred and the system
can't recover. Please log out and try again." There is a button to Log out.
4. I'm still able to change the TTY to Ctrl+Alt+3 and investigate the system,
however I do not know what I'm searching.

I'm know it is very strange the issue strikes when kate is invoked for the
second time, however I tried many times and it's the rule.

OBSERVED RESULT
kate launches with troubles

EXPECTED RESULT
kate launches normally

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Ubuntu 20.10 64-bit GNOME version 3.38.1 Windowing system X11

(Krusader / Help / About Krusader)
KDE Frameworks 5.74.0
Qt 5.14.2 (built against 5.14.2)
The xcb windowing system

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

* I've found nothing related in /var/log
* When I uninstall `apt purge kate` and install snap version `snap install
kate`, snap's kate has no issue like this. However, I do prefer to use `apt's`
version, snap version is limited.
* Other KDE application like Krusader works with no obstacles.
* I've already launched `apt dist-upgrade` `apt upgrade`

$ /usr/bin/kate --version
kate 20.08.2
$ /snap/bin/kate --version

I'd be grateful for tips to debug this.

SUMMARY

Certain .desktop files describe applications that have no executable. An
example is qemu, which has a qemu-ARCH binaries, but no binary that can be run
from a GUI application. If you run any application that initialises KDE, such
as khelpcenter, in the console window you will see an error report:

kf.service.services: The desktop entry file
"/usr/share/applications/qemu.desktop" has Type= "Application" but no Exec line
kf.service.sycoca: Invalid Service : "/usr/share/applications/qemu.desktop"

This is a misleading report (according to qemu developers).

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Run a DE that is not involving KDE, such as twm.
2. run khelpcenter in a terminal
3. observer the aforementioned error message

OBSERVED RESULT

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

A bug has been reported at the qemu bug tracker, asking the developers to

not a .desktop format error, but rather a kde .desktop parser bug.

@TinyTableshelf, do I understand correctly that trying to download the same

related to differences between the data path and the generic data path and we
can easily fix it.

I understand the concern, but I find that placing the tabs on the bottom would
not be as unprecedented as it seems. Would it be weirder than having a
drop-down menu to select the player at the bottom as in the media player
plasmoid? Or as the various tabs in the Kickoff menu? I see these cases as
being substantially similar to this, so my opinion is that it's a matter of
habit rather than a strict design necessity - if it works there, it can work
here.
