https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=430526 Bug ID: 430526 Summary: Special symbols/chars don't work on Wayland when using layouts Product: konsole Version: 20.12.0 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: keyboard Assignee: konsole-de...@kde.org Reporter: francois5...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY Konsole doesn't accept any special symbols/chars when using a different keyboard layout on Wayland. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Select US - intl. with dead keys as keyboard layout 2. Try to enter special symbols: ~, ', ", etc. 3. Nothing happens on Wayland, but it does seem to work fine on X OBSERVED RESULT Nothing happens on Wayland, but works in alternative apps like xterm. EXPECTED RESULT Konsole should accept special symbols SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: / macOS: / Linux/KDE Plasma: 5.20.4 (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.20.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.77.0 Qt Version: 5.15.2 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Enable Magic Lamp effect, optionally Show FPS as well 2. Open two apps, preferably KDE apps (shouldn't matter, but just in case) 3. Minimize both 4. Start maximizing/minimizing one with the other stay minimized 5. Maximize the other 6. Start maximizing/minimizing again with the same window from step 4 OBSERVED RESULT With Show FPS, at step 4 the fps only goes down by 10 or so and only at the first or second minimize. The subsequent application is stable at highest reachable fps. Visually, the animation is very smooth like there's no frame skipping. At step 6, the fps goes down by up to 30 with 20-ish average and it stays so subsequently. Visually, the animation is like there are skipped frames so the smoothness is much less. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=430062 Weng Xuetian changed: What|Removed |Added CC||wen...@gmail.com --- Comment #7 from Weng Xuetian --- So your behavior, if on X11, is probably due to this bug (I don't know how that config is applied on wayland, probably kwin is involved.): https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=418175 The bug is when you apply rate config from kcm, it doesn't read the new value, which I just fixed. Also, the accent option, would rely on QT_IM_MODULE set to plasmaim, which probably doesn't set on your desktop. Due to the fact that it may break normal input method usage, it won't gonna be set by default or being override by your desktop setings. And right now when it is not set to plasmaim, accent and repeat will basically have the same behavior. I'll probably send patch to hide the key-held if QT_IM_MODULE is not plasmaim. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

KRunner will *always* open in my second screen (HDMI-A-2). Always, so will Kickoff if it's on two panels. This happens using either KScreen, KDisplay/Disman and KScreen directly from Git master. [krunner] [Bug 430326] Pressing 'enter' when there are no results returned is not ignored properly.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=430326 --- Comment #4 from Kishore Gopalakrishnan --- (In reply to Alexander Lohnau from comment #3) > Hey, it seems that there are users who actually utilize this behavior. The > idea is that they type the query and it gets autocompleted and they just > press enter. > > This requires the user to know exactly in which order the results will be > sorted. > > I get that it can be annoying, but then it is more of a duplicate of the > mentioned bug :) > > *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 427672 *** I see. But this sounds quite disruptive. I usually know that, for example, 'kinfocenter' appears on top if I type 'kinfo'. Sometimes, I make a typo which returns no results, but press enter before noticing the typo and the lack of results. Let us say I typed 'kindo' and pressed enter. Nothing happens at that moment, which is perfectly fine. Now, I Press ctrl+backspace (to clear the query), and then start trying to type the correct query ('kinfo'). But, when I type 'ki', 'Kile' appears as the first result and gets selected before I can even finish typing what I mean to type. In fact, this behaviour persists even if I dismiss krunner (press 'esc') and invoke it again. For example, 1. Invoke krunner 2. Press 'enter' 3. Dismiss krunner 4. Invoke krunner 5. Type anything that returns a result leads to the IMO unexpected behaviour of running something after step 5, even if the user has not pressed 'enter'. This was actually how I noticed this behaviour in the first place, but I settled on the steps in comment #0 as an apparently simpler way to demonstrate the behaviour. Is it intentional that this 'runAutomatically' persists even after the user has dismissed krunner? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
