Oh, by reading the comments in the newer bug report seems the fix you're
working on is so much better approach than what I tried to do! Kdenlive could
also get benefit from that patch :)

About Craft build, I guess the gibberish output is just because it's printing
Chinese in gb2312 encoding instead of UTF-8. I guess set language to English by
using `[Threading.Thread]::CurrentThread.CurrentUICulture = 'en-US'` could be a
solution but I haven't tried it out. I'll try to open bug report to Craft
project once I got time to work on that.

Thanks for the fix/update <3

2021-01-30 Thread Bernhard
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=432331

I only mentionend in the title: This is specific to high-resolution scrolling.

Also:
For some reason horizontal scrolling is also accepted for changing brightness.
This has none of the problems of normal vertical scrolling while hovering over
the panel.

Inside the applet horizontal scrolling is exactly as bugged as vertical
scrolling.

After this is fixed I would also propose removing horizontal scrolling, as not
scrolling perfectly straight down on a touchpad means you sometimes have
unwanted 'side effects' when it is enabled.

[plasmashell] [Bug 432331] New: Weird behavior with high-resolution scrolling

2021-01-30 Thread Bernhard
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=432331

Bug ID: 432331
Summary: Weird behavior with high-resolution scrolling
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: master
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Battery Monitor
  Assignee: k...@privat.broulik.de
  Reporter: micraf...@gmail.com
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: 1.0

Scrolling up on the panel icon to increase brightness works differently to
scrolling down. When scrolling up slow scrolling is completely ignored. When
slowly scrolling down it seems to enforce a 'minimum speed' where slow events
automatically become faster.

To me it looks like some floating point rounding mistake where it always does a
ceil() or something like that.

But the weirdness does not stop here: Brightness slider inside the widget works
correctly (altough very slow) for scrolling up. When scrolling down however it
_always_ changes at the same speed, no matter how fast or slow you go.

[krita] [Bug 432329] New: Painting on filter masks created from vector selections generally produces crashes or artifacts

2021-01-30 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=432329

Bug ID: 432329
Summary: Painting on filter masks created from vector
selections generally produces crashes or artifacts
   Product: krita
   Version: 4.4.2
  Platform: Appimage
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Tools/Freehand
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: tomtomtomreportin...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Starting with Krita 4.4.0, I can observe crashes when painting on filter masks
that have been created from vector selections. I can observe artifacts before
this version in 4.3.0, but not the crashes, although the behavior somewhat
randomly reproduces in general.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Select a selection tool, enable Vector selection, create a selection.
2. Add a filter mask, for example with Random Noise.
3. Paint on it with the Freehand Brush tool.

OBSERVED RESULT
You will likely encounter either artifacts or a segmentation fault. If neither
happens with the first stroke, you can undo the stroke and try again. If it
still doesn't happen, undo all the steps and try again.

EXPECTED RESULT
No crash or artifacts.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Debian sid
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.20.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.78.0
Qt Version: 5.12.9 (Appimage)

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I have not checked betas. I have not observed this happening with pixel
selections. This happens regardless if you add a filter mask from the Layers
Docker or if you add a filter mask from the Menu bar -> Filters -> [Filter] ->
Create Filter Mask. (Somewhat unrelated note, I noticed that the former action
removes the selection mask while the latter action keeps the selection mask. Is
this intentional, and if so, should I file it as a separate report?)

Hmm so I did find some more information on the function I was using and one's
not supposed to use it directly, it'll only cause problems.

I'm rather confident to have found the actual source of the problem with the
original code now though!
A fix in the same branch, so just re-download possible-mgpu-fix-2.

[wacomtablet] [Bug 430324] Support for libinput backend missing, touch feature tweaks and mapping not good on xf86-input-wacom

Best approach is to split handling of the tablet. Touch will be handled by
libinput, stylus by xf86-wacom:

Create a file named /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/90-libinput-wacom.conf with the
following contents, and then reboot:

```
Section "InputClass"
 Identifier "libinput Wacom touchpad override class"
 MatchUSBID "056a:*"
 MatchDevicePath "/dev/input/event*"
 MatchIsTouchpad "true"
 Driver "libinput"
EndSection
```

https://github.com/linuxwacom/xf86-input-wacom/issues/28#issuecomment-420737038

There is one issue, if you have a libinput touchpad, that will be replaced in
KDE settings with the Wacom Touchpad (I'm about to create a bug report for
that).

The CPU usage is definitely from the beta - I had such things happen with my
git master installation a while ago. You just need to reboot and it will go
away, at least until you log in and out again.

About the black screen: the log suggests that the driver doesn't accept the
buffers for displaying. Are you sure that it worked correctly on the first try?
Then I probably just have a bug in the patch somewhere.

2021-01-30 Thread Andrey

Bug ID: 432326
Summary: GTK apps maximized on start are too high - bottom of
the window is not seen
   Product: kwin
   Version: git master
  Platform: Compiled Sources
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: wayland-generic
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: butir...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Since the height is too high, the bottom of the window is hidden behind panel
or edge of the screen.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open any GTK app (was tested with FF in Wayland mode), it must be maximized
on start.

OBSERVED RESULT
Bottom of the app window is below visible desktop area.

EXPECTED RESULT
All window content should be visible. If there is bottom panel and it's
Visibility Setting set to "Always Visible", it shouldn't hide the window.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: Fedora 33
KDE Plasma Version: 5.21.80
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.79.0
Qt Version: 5.15.2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Especially annoying when the hidden area contains sensitive data, e.g Search
field in FF.

[kate] [Bug 432325] New: kate scrollbar doesn't take into account line length

2021-01-30 Thread David
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=432325

Bug ID: 432325
Summary: kate scrollbar doesn't take into account line length
   Product: kate
   Version: 20.12.0
  Platform: Debian testing
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kwrite-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: david.cortes.riv...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
When opening a file with very long lines which would span multiple screens if
shown with soft-wrap, kate will still show its scrollbar line-by-line, which is
not reflective of the length of the contents when the lines have differing
lengths and makes it very hard to scroll if there are only a couple lines but
they are very long.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Configure Kate to have the equivalent of "soft-wrap" - i.e. so that long
lines would not create a horizontal scroll, but would rather be shown spanning
multiple lines inside kate. Optionally set the scrollbar to show text previews.
2. Open some file with very long lines but having < 20 lines or so.
3. Look at the scrollbar at the right. Try to scroll.

OBSERVED RESULT
The scrollbar is not helpful since it will move by lines and show itself by
lines - i.e. will be very small, despite the document potentially spanning
multiple screens with its limited amount of lines.

EXPECTED RESULT
The scrollbar should reflect line length too, like sublime does.

Hmm.That's unfortunate. As I understand, each item in Search Results has an
address. Can that property be used at least for categorizing search results
after model on Contents tab? That would be beneficial, even if new scopes

Well, that's good news then! I'll have to ask if the function I used has any
caveats (there is effectively 0 documentation about it) but hopefully we can
get this in for the release of 5.21 then :)

I believe some of those problems may have been because of other problems in
your installation / in the beta (as you stated you also had problems without
any patches). Could you give me ~/.local/share/sddm/wayland-session.log again
(after a reboot), so I can make sure?

OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED

SUMMARY
KHelpCenter > Search Options tab > Scope - there are only two scopes:
Application manuals and Unix manual pages. These scopes do not match those on
Contents tab. For a new user it is difficult to comprehend search results on

[kwin] [Bug 431968] Plasma 5.21 wayland crashes and has render issues

2021-01-30 Thread Tito
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=431968

This patch seems to behave a bit better:
First try the two screens connected to the igpu didnt have any graphical
issues, although i didnt managed to go all the way to the desktop as it stalled
to a black screen with the cursor, this time the ctrl+alt+canc menu behaved
correctly logging me out without any problems.

at a second try the two screens connected to the igpu were black (the screen
was off) as they didnt recived any signal and went to power saving mode. the
rest behaved as stated before.
on this last try i also got a weird behavior as i heard the cpu fan spin up
while logging out of kde, when i went back to check the cpu usage was at 100,
any graphical resource monitor couldnt tell me which program was cousing this,
except for htop wich showed some programs at around 260% cpu usage, killing the
process fixed this. sadly i didnt noted the names of those as i thought they
werent the cause of the issue.

SUMMARY

The highlighting for the options in the sub-pixel rendering and hinting
combo-boxes are inconsistent with the other combo-boxes throughout the plasma
system settings.

The highlighting in those are a faint blue(in breeze dark) and they don't go
through the entire box length.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. open system settings > appearance > fonts.
2. click in the sub-pixel rendering or hinting options and hover your cursor
over the options.
3. see that the highlighting stops just after the last letter of the option's
name instead of continuing until the end of the combo-box.

i followed the second method, and the result was pretty similar.

the screens connected to the intel igpu behaved like shown before, tho after
the loading of the logo finished, the desktop remained black, and any attempt
at restarting/logging out trough the ctrl+alt+canc menu lead to weird and
inconsistent behavior like poweroff or restart.

should i try the first method?

[Plasma Vault] [Bug 412832] Cannot create vaults

I had this same set of symptoms (error 9, directories created) and noticed that
the CryFS process was getting OOM Killed — so this error suggests you don't
have much free memory on your system, and CryFS was running out of memory part
way through.

For me, I was roughly a gig below the system limit and it still happened.

Plasma Vault maybe could benefit by showing a clearer error message in this
case?

[digikam] [Bug 431689] DNG image preview corruption

2021-01-30 Thread Maik Qualmann
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=431689

I looked again at the DNG image that libraw decoded and I'm sure that the
problem is not due to digiKam. Only the Nokia 7 is included in the list of
supported cameras. Report the problem to the libraw team with a sample image so
they can add support.
