When annotating a screenshot, the mouse-wheel event should be used to trigger
the scroll the screenshot by default. I think the zoom function is not as
needed as the scroll one.

As for the zoom function, we could add new buttons or use "Ctrl+mouse wheel" to
trigger it.

Add support for clipboard integration

Copies over David's implementation in Klipper and integrates it in the
plugin. To do so it splits the ClipboardListener class into 2
subclasses: one that uses QClipboard and the other that uses the
DataControl classes.

So if I understand correctly there's two issues:
- allowing to pin packages to a version and stop them from upgrading.
- improved progress reporting.

Would you be able to open bug reports for each issue? It will make it much
easier to discuss.

Also pressing the Tasks item should give more information on the on-going task.
Can you check that what you're after is also not there? Please reply in the
specific ticket, maybe with a screenshot.

SUMMARY
Allo,

backwards?
I can click on the browser’s back button but that tends to be not recommended.
Also, when I reply to a topic, again, clicking the browser’s back button seems
to be the incorrect way of doing it.

I doubt that this is a problem with my broswer or OS but I am running Firefox
87.0 64 bit and Kubuntu 20.10.

[valgrind] [Bug 435441] valgrind fails to interpose malloc on musl 1.2.2 due to weak symbol name and no libc soname

2021-04-06 Thread Michael Forney
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=435441

With --soname-synonyms=somalloc=libc.musl-x86_64.so.1 the warnings go away, but
this is because it makes valgrind unable to track free as well as malloc:

==31116== HEAP SUMMARY:
==31116== in use at exit: 0 bytes in 0 blocks
==31116== total heap usage: 0 allocs, 0 frees, 0 bytes allocated

To be clear, by default musl libc.so does not have a soname. It is only on
Alpine Linux that it is built with a soname of libc.musl-x86_64.so.1.

[Bluedevil] [Bug 435444] New: bluetooth is constantly scanning for services / devices

2021-04-06 Thread Kai Krakow
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=435444

Bug ID: 435444
Summary: bluetooth is constantly scanning for services /
devices
   Product: Bluedevil
   Version: 5.21.3
  Platform: Gentoo Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: now...@gmail.com
  Reporter: k...@kaishome.de
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

When the KDE session is running, my bluetooth dongle is constantly scanning for
services and devices. The timeout is around 10s but it will immediately start
again.

The effect of this is that some bluetooth-connected devices have problems
communicating correctly with my PC because inquiries are prioritized over other
bluetooth traffic with the effect it seems to completely dominate the bluetooth
connection.

One affected device is the Xbox Elite 2 controller: While KDE is running, it is
unstable and loses or delays input events. When KDE is stopped, the controller
works just fine.

After an [issue report in the Bluez Github
project](https://github.com/bluez/bluez/issues/123) I was told that it is
neither normal nor expected/recommended to have the dongle in permanent
scan/inquiry mode because that traffic is priorities above other traffic which
could explain my problem. It doesn't matter if I disable any KDE services
(kdeconnect, bluetooth events, ...): The dongle is constantly discovering for
10s, then immediately starts again in a loop. Sometimes after I rebooted, the
pattern may be different: 10s of discovering, 10s of non-discovering.

This also seems to affect how well different devices may be able to connect via
bluetooth: Without KDE running, my paired bluetooth devices connect
immediately, with KDE running, the connection may take 30-60s before it is
established.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Enable bluetooth
2. Watch the output of btmgmt or btmon
3. Try with KDE and without KDE running

OBSERVED RESULT

With KDE running, watch btmgmt to see "hci0 type 1 discovering on" / "... off"
is looping with 10s in "on" state, and <1s in "off" state.

Without KDE running, no such behavior can be observed.

Bluetooth devices have difficulties to properly communicate with low latency
while inquiries are running, this may have a HUGE impact on SOME devices,
especially devices requiring low latency (input, audio) come to mind here.

EXPECTED RESULT

KDE (or some component of it) should not constantly scan trying to discover
devices.

ADDITIONAL INFO

The "Add device" wizard is not running.

kdeconnect is running, it seems to have bluetooth integration.

kio may be involved:
https://github.com/KDE/bluedevil/blob/bb28472500c1292c9059b06af937ed51b4cb02f8/src/kio/bluetooth/kiobluetooth.cpp#L159
(the 10s timeout is quite an evidence)

I already tried disabling pulseaudio and other bluetooth-integrated services.
Only shutting KDE completely down resolves the issue.

Maybe related:
#308338, #401983

As per https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=401983#c3 the kio thing looks
promising. But how would I identify the process which is hammering the
bluetooth:/ kio service?

Surely it's just down to the fact that we don't intercept symbols with that

Does --soname-synonyms=somalloc=libc.musl-x86_64.so.1 also make it work?

When I logged in via Firefox, I disabled the 'IP SESSION SECURITY FEATURE',
before I attempted logging in with drkonqi. I've also logged out of the browser
before I tried drkonqi.

Funnily enough, login works in drkonqi if change my password from a complex
'm>0,q%FFDN' to something basic like 'abcd1234...'. <--- I have already
changed the aforementioned passwords, don't worry :)

P.S: I'm a newbie, how should I include related bugs?

[valgrind] [Bug 435441] New: valgrind fails to interpose malloc on musl 1.2.2 due to weak symbol name and no libc soname

2021-04-06 Thread Michael Forney
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=435441

Bug ID: 435441
Summary: valgrind fails to interpose malloc on musl 1.2.2 due
to weak symbol name and no libc soname
   Product: valgrind
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: jsew...@acm.org
  Reporter: mfor...@mforney.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Starting with musl 1.2.2, malloc is a weak symbol in libc.so. Also, musl's
libc.so is built without any soname (though Alpine Linux, a popular musl-based
distribution, builds it with -Wl,-soname,libc.musl-x86_64.so.1). The
combination of these two seems to prevent valgrind from replacing malloc,
though free is still replaced correctly.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Download and extract a musl toolchain from
http://musl.cc/x86_64-linux-musl-cross.tgz
2. Install a /lib/ld-musl-x86_64.so.1 symlink with ln -s
/path/to/x86_64-linux-musl-cross/x86_64-linux-musl/libc.so
/lib/ld-musl-x86_64.so.1
3. Build valgrind with ./configure --host=x86_64-linux-musl
CC=/path/to/x86_64-linux-musl-cross/bin/x86_64-linux-musl-gcc.
4. Compile the following C program with x86_64-linux-musl-gcc:

#include
int main(void) { free(malloc(32)); }

5. Run the program with ./vg-in-place ./a.out

>From a musl-based system with valgrind installed, you can skip steps 2 and 3.

OBSERVED RESULT
valgrind prints the following error:

==21034== Invalid free() / delete / delete[] / realloc()
==21034==at 0x4A0CA4B: free (vg_replace_malloc.c:538)
==21034==by 0x48007DA: main (in /tmp/a.out)
==21034== Address 0x4a01d10 is in a rw- mapped file /tmp/a.out segment
==21034==
==21034==
==21034== HEAP SUMMARY:
==21034== in use at exit: 0 bytes in 0 blocks
==21034== total heap usage: 0 allocs, 1 frees, 0 bytes allocated

This seems to because malloc did not get replaced, so valgrind was unaware of
the allocation.

EXPECTED RESULT
valgrind should not print any errors, and detect 1 alloc and 1 free.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux, musl 1.2.2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Passing --soname-synonyms=somalloc=NONE or rebuilding musl libc.so with a
strong malloc symbol both seem to solve the problem. However, the weak malloc
symbol is needed in order to prevent __libc_malloc from clashing with a malloc
linked by the application.

musl developers suspect that the problem is due to something valgrind is doing
with weak symbols.

   Product: yakuake
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED

Frameworks Version: 5.80.0
Operating System: Linux 5.3.18-lp152.66-default x86_64
Windowing System: X11
Drkonqi Version: 5.21.3

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:

I was running HTOP in the drop-down window, along with IOTOP (Split Left/Right)
and CAT (Split Top/Bottom).
I closed IOTOP and CAT, as well as the splited windows, only leaving HTOP
active. I tried resizing it vertically, using my mouse. Doing so crashed
Yakuake.
However the bug cannot be reproduced, I tried recreating the same conditions,
but I can't get it to crash again.

I should point out I'm using OpenSUSE Leap 15.2 Argon, and running the latest
released KDE software.

The reporter is unsure if this crash is reproducible.

[dolphin] [Bug 435435] New: Dolphin Crashes on Right-Click - Plugin Cause?

2021-04-06 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=435435

Bug ID: 435435
Summary: Dolphin Crashes on Right-Click - Plugin Cause?
   Product: dolphin
   Version: 20.12.3
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Keywords: drkonqi
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: waterlub...@rocketmail.com
CC: kfm-de...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

Application: dolphin (20.12.3)

Qt Version: 5.15.2
Frameworks Version: 5.80.0
Operating System: Linux 5.11.11-zen1-1-zen x86_64
Windowing System: X11
Drkonqi Version: 5.21.4
Distribution: "Arch Linux"

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:

I opened Dolphin. I can successfully navigate folders and directories, but
right clicking on any file or folder crashes Dolphin. I haven't made any
significant changes, although I have recently updated my system (and
subsequently rebooted) to latest Arch Linux repo packages.

This crash appears to be caused by a Dolphin plugin I have installed: Trigger
Syncthing Scan. Disabling all plugins fixes the crash, although enabling it
alone reproduces it. (I believe this is added by syncthingtray, but I'm not
sure).

Regardless, Dolphin plugins shouldn't cause a total application crash, so I'm
still reporting the bug. (Unless this is intended/acceptable behavior: then
this report might be useful to someone else, I guess.)

The crash can be reproduced every time.

Vim behavior is "vi file". This is already possible in kate. And you don't need
to do it from outside, just use the Konsole plugin.

With the upcoming release creating a new file is more simple:

Right click the directory where you want to create a new file and enter the
name.

This is available only for projects. Note that ahy folder can be loaded as a
project by just doing "kate ." in the directory in the upcoming release.

If you still don't have or want a project, the best way to create a new file
from gui is by using the file system browser plugin.

Enabling broken behavior to satisfy a use case is not an option. And yes, it
*is* broken behavior and will not be supported even optionally.

SUMMARY

Baloo occasionally skips indexing a file and balooshow shows information
for a different file

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

Not found a way of reliably reproducing this. This is just an
example instance

cd ~/Documents
mkdir temp
echo "Hello Penguin" > temp/file1.txt
balooshow -x temp/file1.txt

gave ...

OBSERVED RESULTS

... the details of something else completely (a different file, indexed
at a different time. (Had to trim the list of terms as the full list
looked too much like spam).

I'm guessing these "renamings" are not necessarily real. If I look
back through the logs there are some batches of these messages.

2021-04-06 Thread Deri James
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=362999

It may be that the reason the position changes is because quazip is using
deflate on the mimetype file rather than just storing it uncompressed. This
does not make much sense because the compressed size (24 bytes) is longer than
the uncompressed size (19 bytes), using zip64 the difference is greater. Is
there a way to tell quazip to store the file "mimetype" (rather than deflate)
or to not deflate files which grow larger when compressed.

I recommend you try it and when you end up with fine grained option which looks
nice and doesn't interfere with the others, you could make a MR upstream so it
could be reconsidered.
Anyway, I think it has nothing to do with KDE.

Actually, this makes me think the I could probably package something on my own,
this is not specific to KDE after all. Even better if KDE ships it by default
so if you are interested, let me know and I'll look into it when I find the
time.

2021-04-06 Thread Raphaël Jakse

No. I just read the blog article Peter linked, and then some more out of
curiosity and interest.

I could fix it for myself, but was aiming for a solution that would make
easy-to-use for everyone. But a custom manual XML configuration won't cut it.

I'm less motivated by a solution that works only for me. I'll apply it when
I'll eventually reach a point when I'm fed up with my setup. This could happen
tomorrow or in a month. But I don't want to have to tell people "Hey, there's
this cool feature that allows you to write useful and fun characters easily,
and you can take advantage of this key that you never used in your life for
that, only you need to write this XML stuff, trust me it is easy".

However, if me trying this could potentially lead to a solution for all users,
or at least KDE users (if, for instance, the KDE project is willing to ship
such custom configuration - even in an optional package), I'll gladly look into
it before reaching the fed up point :-)
