fortunately there was an upgrade now but it got worse

the upgrade packages are bundled into 1, you can expand and see what is in
there but apparently no change is possible

then in good old windows fashion a reboot is required and the packages are
installed before reaching graphical target, finishing it reboots again ...

It's better with the latest version (20.12.3), though still not perfect. The
CTRL+mousewheel zoom now comes "close" to the cursor but then looses it when
zooming in very high. ATM it's good enough for me, but it's still not quite
like zooming in with keys or by dragging the zoom slider

The problematic events don't have the same naming pattern

Sometime, when I create an event in Korganizer, it is not synchronized with
my Google Calendar (that uses CalDAV, isn't?). Even if I try to refresh the
calendar manually, it does not appear on Google web interface.

I have launched akonadikonsole. I have been able to detect the guilty events
easily, they don't have the same ID pattern (see screenshot) than the others
and they don't contains the field: "X-KDE-LIBKGAPI-EventId".

I have tried to modify the subject of the event, but it does not fix the
problem. Then I have tried to cut then paste the even. This time, it has
worked.

I think that the problem exist for a while but I didn't take time to look at
it closer before.

This issue is probably related to #325485.

I have a similar problem while using Wacom Intuos Pro L on HiDPI display. I am
running:

Gentoo/X11 with Gnome 3.38.3. Scaling is set to 200%
Krita 4.4.3. HiDPI setting is turned on.
Qt 5.15.2

Mouse cursor behaves correctly, but tablet cursor has an offset. It seems this
offset depends on Krita's window (undecorated part, i.e. minus title bar and
borders) position relative to screen's upper left corner. If window is
maximized, there is only a noticeable vertical offset (due to title bar); if
window is moved to the right, then additionally there is a horizontal offset.

This looks a lot like this: https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-82723

As a workaround, it is possible to get rid of stylus offset by using Krita in
full screen mode (Ctrl+Shift+F) while keeping HiDPI setting on.

Mimetype probing might require accessing files to look for binary markers in
the file itself, which I expect is what causes this behavior. I've checked and
couldn't find where the POSIX spec says that atime changes require any sort of
view or option action. In fact the only relevant bit of information is [1]

> struct timespec st_atim Last data access timestamp.

Opening the file to detect its mimetype is certainly data access. This seems
consistent behavior.

Please try to get some more information. This might even be one of the cases
where we'll need libsmbclient debug output. Seeing as you got an authentication

Yep. The actual system files are in /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libQt5Core.so.5.
In fact the path difference wouldn't even be of any importance if the "wrong"
path had an associated package and debug symbol package. It does not have
either. So, whatever caused this isn't a deb at all.

AFAIK, only password's hash gets transmitted, so it wouldn't be any different
than sending the password to your own router, since most of WiFi-capable
devices can intercept the handshake. You don't need an evil router :)

So it's not that critical in terms of security. Maybe only if the network that
gets selected is an open one - then if you didn't pay attention you might be
sending private data on a public network. But I don't know how networkmanager
would react to you providing a password for an open network - maybe that's an
error.

What kind of indicator do you expect? Since digiKam can activate / deactivate
the menu via the context menu, you have an indicator with the checkbox there.
This is more than other programs usually provide. The menu option is available
in the context menus of digiKam's thumbnail view, the image preview and in the
image editor.

It does disappear when empty, which is what I want for less clutter and to know
if I have anything stored.
History is set to seven and to drop contents at logoff.

Update.
I did some testing with new account, it seems to work there so I nuked my
klipperrc.
It still didn't work, after setting klipper to "never remove contents" I seem
to get good results.

So I'm guessing it's a matter of PEBKAC or not nuking config files from time to
time as I used to do during 4 to 5 transition which helped in a lot of cases.

This is an Arch install from 2017 mind you.

klipperrc after nuking and configuring:

[General]
IgnoreSelection=true

Thank you for your patience, now I need to get rid of that nasty habit of
keeping windows open until stuff is pasted, even on Windows, g.

I'll mark if as WORKSFORME as I'm not sure if it was my stupidity or something
else.

Just a reminder that this is still broken and the patches attached should fix
the missing symbols when Wine is built with MinGW and DWARF debug info (still
requires some Wine-side fixes too).

I believe the Valgrind patches still apply without conflict.

The only remaining issue that I could see is that Wine munmaps its DLLs
whenever they are unloaded, and that makes Valgrind drop all symbols in the
range, making some later leak reports miss the symbols. But that's possibly an
issue to be worked around on Wine side.

[krita] [Bug 435502] New: [Master] When brush settings dialog is open, shift+drag canvas input decouples brush size

2021-04-08 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=435502

Bug ID: 435502
Summary: [Master] When brush settings dialog is open,
shift+drag canvas input decouples brush size
   Product: krita
Version: nightly build (please specify the git hash!)
  Platform: Appimage
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
Component: Shortcuts and Canvas Input Settings
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: tomtomtomreportin...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

git 2914f59

SUMMARY
If the brush settings dialog is open, using the shift+drag canvas input
shortcut to change brush size will decouple the brush tip size shown in the
brush editor with the functional size. This is more than a visual issue as
tweaking settings in the brush settings dialog will reset the functional size
to what's shown in the brush settings.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open brush settings dialog.
2. Shift + left-click drag on the canvas to change brush size.

OBSERVED RESULT
The brush sizes between the brush editor and the actual brush size will
decouple.

We are truly grateful to you devs! This was a near show-stopper bug for a
common task (re-logging back into Plasma.)

Since I'm no programmer nor engineer, and my little brain barely grasps this
stuff, I want to ask: are the KDE developers still going to investigate why
kglobalaccel5 has been behaving this way for Plasma 5?

> What would be interesting to know is why kglobalaccel is getting
> started/restarted at this point.

Even with the above two fixes being applied, they seem to only address errant
systemd units (i.e, plasma-kglobalaccel5.service), yet is the real issue deeper
with kglobalaccel5 executable / service itself?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but in the meantime with these fixes, kglobalaccel5 is
still behaving wonky at logout when X11 "is pulled out from under it" like a
magic trick with a table cloth. Is it possible this can carry over to Plasma 6
and rear it's ugly head again?

[plasmashell] [Bug 435506] New: Potential memory leak with Firefox addon + many download notifications

2021-04-08 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=435506

Bug ID: 435506
Summary: Potential memory leak with Firefox addon + many
download notifications
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.19.5
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Notifications
  Assignee: k...@privat.broulik.de
  Reporter: andrea.i...@gmail.com
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: 1.0

I think I've found a memory leak in plasmashell when Firefox is used to
download plenty of individual files (~30) and has the plasma add-on installed
and enabled, which causes every download complete event to show up as a plasma
notification.

I have recorded to videos showing the memory usage of plasmashell in the
following scenario:

download a bunch of images from a web page via DownThemAll - this allows to
quickly download many files, hence triggering many download notifications (only
when the plasma add-on is enabled)
move to next page and download some more
rinse and repeat a few times
close firefox
monitor memory usage by plasmashell during the test and at the end

When the add-on is enabled, a lot of memory is retained. The video shows 4 or
500 MB, but previously it went as high as 7-800.
When the add-on is disabled, memory usage increase by plasmashell is only a few
MBs (although it might be worth checking if this gets properly released
eventually...)

Suspected memory leak (add-on enabled):

When I sort the albums by name, they are basically sorted in descending order.
The same applies to the keywords, they are also sorted alphabetically in

So far I haven't been able to turn that around.

[digikam] [Bug 435507] New: New install digiKam 7.2 on Windows Error opening database

2021-04-08 Thread mike
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=435507

Bug ID: 435507
Summary: New install digiKam 7.2 on Windows Error opening
database
   Product: digikam
   Version: 7.2.0
  Platform: Microsoft Windows
OS: Microsoft Windows
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: critical
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Database
  Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: m...@newmikeman.co.uk
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
New install of digiKam 7.2.0 on Windows 10 - Error opening database even before
digiKam has got itself going.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install digiKam 7.2.0 on Windows 10
Used digiKam-7.2.0-Win64.exe then digiKam-7.2.0-Win64.tar.xz in case
the issue was about anti-malware.
2. Run digiKam
3. Pop-up "Error while opening the database. digiKam will try to automatically
connect to the database". There's a progress bar going on and on. Click on
Cancel (no other choice).
4. Further pop-up "Failed to open the database. You cannot use digiKam without
a working database. digiKam will attempt to start now, but it will not be
functional. Please check the database settings in the configuration menu."
Click on OK (no other choice)
5. Small splash screen showing a rural scene stays around for a little while
then vanishes.

OBSERVED RESULT
No program running.
If digiKam can't find its database one would expect a grown-up software to name
the missing database and to start with an empty one or a choice of that or to
browse to the right one.

EXPECTED RESULT
Running program something like the screen shots published on the Internet.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows: 10
macOS:
Linux/KDE Plasma:
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version:
KDE Frameworks Version:

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I tried digiKam 6.4 a few years ago and had uninstalled it; I don't know
whether or why that would make any difference.

This is still broken. With a small test file, there's an infinite amount of
messages like

The corresponding behavior is deprecated, and will be changed in a future
version of Qt.

I'm not a very experienced user so here's what I did :

systemctl edit --user plasma-kglobalaccel‧service

it opened this in vim :

### Editing

# BusName=org‧kde‧kglobalaccel
# Slice=background‧slice
# TimeoutSec=5sec

where I added "SuccesExitStatus=0 1 " this way :

after checking,
/home/mint/.config/systemd/user/plasma-kglobalaccel‧service‧d/override‧conf
content is just :

When I log out log in, it bugged as ever (maybe took a little less time to

[plasmashell] [Bug 435508] New: Monitor refresh rate

2021-04-08 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=435508

Bug ID: 435508
   Summary: Monitor refresh rate
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.21.4
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Notifications
  Assignee: k...@privat.broulik.de
  Reporter: kitt3...@gmail.com
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: 1.0

SUMMARY
The monitor's refresh rate does affect KDE's notifications and plasmoid widgets
"tick" speed.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Have a monitor set to 240 Hz in settings. I guess it happens with every
value >60 Hz.
2. Log in into session (If already logged in, end session and log back in.)
3.1 Run "notify-send -i 5000 'Hey\!' 'This should last 5 seconds'" for testing
notification.
3.2 Play Spotify or some other compatible media and have the "Media Player"
widget on the desktop for testing plasmoid widgets.

OBSERVED RESULT
Monitor refresh rate does affect notification and plasmoid tick speed.
Notifications disappear too fast and plasmoid widgets tick too fast (especially
noticeable with the Media Player widget, it's not in sync with the actual
media, is way too fast)

EXPECTED RESULT
Monitor refresh rate should not affect notification and plasmoid widget tick
speed.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Arch Linux (Kernel 5.11.11) / KDE Plasma 5.21.4
KDE Plasma Version: 5.21.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.80.0
Qt Version: 5.15.2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
X.Org Version: 1.20.10
Drivers: Nvidia version 460.67
Compositor backend: OpenGL 3.1
Compositor Scale Method: Smooth
Compositor Latency: Balance of latency and smoothness
2 monitor setup, both 2560x1440, left-hand side one @60 Hz, right-hand side
primary one @240 Hz

Demonstration: https://imgur.com/a/pjCpU3h (last one is Spotify + Media Player
Widget @240 Hz, imgur didn't apply the description, or I forgot it)

Tried that, kglobalaccell never started and global shortcut where down after
reboot :/
Maybe I did something worng ?

As for the 2nd solution, I don't know how to create an executable file like you
did (and for the record, I don't understand what this solution is about. The
first one I get it : we feed a parameter meaning that we don't care either
kglobalaccel started or not)

if it's any help, here's the log from journal -f at reloging :

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=435265

Okay, that looks all fine. I have a few questions about your setup:

* Is it always the same monitor that doesn't work?
* If you unplug the working monitor, I assume the other one stays blank?
* Are you waiting with booting the laptop while it's connected to the docking
station, or do you hotplug it? If the latter, what happens if you reboot after
plugging it in?
* what does "ls /dev/dri/" output if you have the docking station connected,
and not connected?

[frameworks-kglobalaccel] [Bug 429426] kglobalaccel5 repeatedly crashes on boot in QGuiApplicationPrivate::createPlatformIntegration(), which can delay login

2021-04-08 Thread flan_suse

(In reply to mintjulep from comment #41)
> As for the 2nd solution, I don't know how to create an executable file like
> you did

No problemo! The steps are something like this:

Create and edit the custom file:
sudo nano /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc.d/99-reset-failed-user-service.sh

Fill it with these two lines:
#!/bin/sh
systemctl --user reset-failed

Now save and exit (with CTRL + X and choosing "y" if using nano text editor)

Now give it executable permission:
sudo chmod +x /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc.d/99-reset-failed-user-service.sh

In the future, you can simply delete this custom file, as it's no longer needed
if the updated KDE packages resolve this issue:
sudo rm /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc.d/99-reset-failed-user-service.sh

Hope that helps. :)
