Indeed, enabling the +qalculate USE flag for kde-plasma/plasma-workspace does
resolve the issue, not sure why I've not noticed this before. As far as I can
tell this flag has been around for some years now.

I will work with Andreas to have this enabled by default in Gentoo.

Summary: Konsole opens Vivaldi when opening a link or
documentation from Help-menu - no other Term does and
my default is set to FireFox
   Product: konsole
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Mint (Ubuntu based)
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: konsole-de...@kde.org
  Reporter: rob...@kapsi.fi
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

Ok, I used Vivaldi for a while, set it as my default browser - until I got the
issue solved with FireFox which made it unusable (13 windows, 1000+tabs, but
the real culprit was an add-on that hogged resources even at idle) for a while.
I changed my default back to FireFox, but Konsole opens Vivaldi.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
Not sure - there's things to consider.
1. With Linux Mint 19.3 XFCE (yes, I'm not using KDE - although I tried install
it, got advice from official help channel on IRC that I should install simply
"plasma-desktop", but when I logged in the newly installed DE - well, it wasn't
obviously all there. The functionality was broken, stuff missing and the
theming looked like there was none. I have no idea if this has anything to do
with it - I still use XFCE).
2. Installed Konsole (before trying to install KDE Plasma I'm fairly sure)
3. At some point I set default applications (in XFCE's control panel) so that
instead of firefox it would open new tabs in Vivaldi.
4. Later switched back. Now all applications open links in firefox again -
except for Konsole, which starts Vivaldi to open a tab, opening my 4 windows
and 200+ tabs of my Vivaldi session, at worst case causing my machine to run
out of RAM.
5. I have no idea where Konsole picks what browser to launch... doesn't use
exo-open for sure :D

OBSERVED RESULT

Links and documentation opening in browser that I've only temporarily set to as
default, Vivaldi, and returned the default browser to FireFox. This selection
was done in XFCE DE's settings, which I thought would set some global default
that all modern applications would see, but since XFCE is GTK-based and uses
it's own config system, maybe KDE/Qt applications DON'T get a clue. Just
baffles, why does it open Vivaldi then? Not the usual "default", closed source
browser from 3rd party repository.

EXPECTED RESULT

Links would open in browser set default in current DE in use, *and/or* using
exo-open to open URL in browser - that seems to always be the same I've set it
to in Default Applications of DE settings.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux Mint 19.3 XFCE
Konsole version: 17.12.3 (it seems this is old not available in selection list
above, seems strange for Mint, even though I'm one major release upgrade
behind).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Where does Konsole pick information, if there is no Desktop Environment: that's
what this makes me ponder as I'm feeling a drift towards going back to plain
window managers, and the mandatory libraries and stuff needed to run GTK and Qt
applications when Gnome, MATE, XFCE, KDE or other DE's are gone. Need to know
where can one change what browser/executable should Konsole launch for URL's?

I think there should be a setting in Konsole, not just somewhere in the DE's
settings - I don't even have the DE, in working order anyway for sure.

Using udev hwdb maps keycodes, not keysyms, so XKB is still needed to map keys

KEY_WLAN toggle Wi-Fi on the first level and toggle Bluetooth on the second

SUMMARY:

KDE Plasma Monitor Hell BUG - Turning Off main desktop monitor and back on
again results in main monitor losing the bottom half of the screen (THE
TASKBAR) & other Anomilies:

Monitors & their Connections:

1. SONY 32" - HDMI cable to AMD/ATI Radeon video card - Main PC Desktop
monitor (has Taskbar & Icons on it's desktop)
2. HP VA905 19" - DVI cable to AMD/ATI Radeon video card
3. SONY 40" - HDMI cable to Motherboard Intel HD4000 GPU Motherboard Chip
(i915 driver)

AMD/ATI = Radeon HD 7850 (7000 Series) PCI-E Video Card

KDE Display Set up is as above from left to right hand side

NAME: KDE Plasma Monitor Hell BUG - Turning Off main desktop monitor and back
on again results in main monitor losing the bottom half of the screen (THE
TASKBAR) & other Anomilies

DESC: Turning Off main desktop monitor and back on again results in main
monitor becoming black and providing no useable interface, ex: the bottom half
of the screen (THE TASKBAR) & other Anomilies

DE's Bug Appears In:

Xwayland (Wayland) : YES
Full Wayland: YES
x11: NO

CONDITIONS:

Both monitors 1 & 2 are on

REPRODUCE ISSUE:

1. Turn SONY 32" monitor off via On/Off button on TV Set/Monitor or TV remote
control
2. Turn SONY 32" monitor back on via On/Off button on TV Set/Monitor or TV
remote control

RESULT:

KDE connect Daemon - The KDE Crash Handler window appears on the SONY 32"
Monitor*
The taskbar often still appears on the SONY 32" Monitor but is not responsive
 *Intermittant, sometimes happens

SONY 32" Monitor gives a black screen, with _maybe_ (intermittant) only 1
window being displayed (often the last used or in-focus window)
HP VA905 19" Monitor suddenly appears to become a/the main/primary monitor (the
taskbar with all pinned icons in it that was originally on the SONY 32"
Monitor)
 suddenly appear on this monitor.

The SONY 32" monitor will also successfully display the mouse pointer, however
when moving/draging any windows from the HP VA905 19" Monitor to the SONY 32"
monitor
the mouse pointer on the SONY 32" monitor turns into a 4 direction arrow, and
the window being dragged onto the SONY 32" monitor does not get displayed at
all.

About a fifth of the SONY 32" monitor (on the right-hand side of it) ends up
displaying a part of the wall paper that was displayed on the HP VA905 monitor.

Also the taskbar on the SONY 32" monitor appears to be literally "raised up" by
about 2 centimetres with nothing but black underneath it.

FURTHER INFO:

It is usually possible to logout and then back in again to restore operations
to the way they were before the issue started
However, upon repeating the above monitor off/on issue often results in the
non-ability to logout and sometimes one cannot use any monitor to run apps
and a manual PC button re-boot is nessessariy

Issue has persisted on at least 3 previous kernel releases as well

OK interesting. I went into Settings > Applications > Default Applications and
saw that Firefox was already set as the default. However, I saw the email
client was set to Vivaldi and changed that to Thunderbird and hit apply. I got
curious after that and re-tested in konsole and it works correctly now. And now
there is an entry in ~/.config/kdeglobals with
BrowserApplication=firefox.desktop.

Should the ~/.config/kdeglobals always have that BrowserApplication= setting in
it by default?

Just checked and the application is not setting the icon correctly. You can run
attached scrict to list DBus properties of all System Tray icons. On my system
for Albert is returns:
{"AttentionIconName" = [Variant(QString): ""], "AttentionIconPixmap" =
[Variant: [Argument: a(iiay) {}]], "AttentionMovieName" = [Variant(QString):
""], "Category" = [Variant(QString): "ApplicationStatus"], "IconName" =
[Variant(QString): ""], "IconPixmap" = [Variant: [Argument: a(iiay) {}]],
"IconThemePath" = [Variant(QString): ""], "Id" = [Variant(QString): "Albert"],
"ItemIsMenu" = [Variant(bool): false], "Menu" = [Variant: [ObjectPath:
/MenuBar]], "OverlayIconName" = [Variant(QString): ""], "OverlayIconPixmap" =
[Variant: [Argument: a(iiay) {}]], "Status" = [Variant(QString): "Active"],
"Title" = [Variant(QString): "Albert"], "ToolTip" = [Variant: [Argument:
(sa(iiay)ss) "", [Argument: a(iiay) {}], "", ""]], "WindowId" = [Variant(int):
0]}

Both IconName and IconPixmap are empty.

Maybe the problem is that Albert set's the icon in a weird way?
https://github.com/albertlauncher/albert/blob/dev/src/app/trayicon.cpp#L15
Most probably QIcon::fromTheme should be used (as mention in app bug report).

It seems that the bug was solved last year
(https://phabricator.kde.org/D26334), although a new version of Krusader has
not been released, and Krusader developers use the git version of Krusader.

So, this bug report has to be closed. Feel free to reopen this bug report if
it's needed (for example, if you build the latest git version of Krusader and
you still see the bug). Greetings!

Bug ID: 435830
Summary: Discover Notifier crashing when updating through
notification
   Product: Discover
   Version: 5.19.5
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Notifier
  Assignee: aleix...@kde.org
  Reporter: magu...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
System checks for updates and displays notification that updates are available.
After clicking "Update" in on the notification pop-up, Discover opens and
displays updates. In this moment Notifier crashes (but Discover works and
updates as expected). When trying to log a bug on the Notifier, using Crash
Report Assistant, it cannot do it (The debugger has quit unexpectedly"

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. System displays notification about updates
2. Click "update" in the notification to open Discover
3. Discover opens and fetches updates
4. Notifier crashes

OBSERVED RESULT
Notifier crashes (information in the system tray)

EXPECTED RESULT
Notifier disapears/hides once Discover opened to update

[kde] [Bug 435829] New: Selection paste seems broken

2021-04-16 Thread Anton Karmanov
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=435829

Bug ID: 435829
   Summary: Selection paste seems broken
   Product: kde
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: unassigned-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: bergentr...@insiberia.net
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
I am not sure which component is involved.

Selection paste works fine with middle mouse button. It works in Konsole and
Yaquake with default C+S+Insert shortcut. In majority of applications it seems
inconsistent. Paste selection shortcut inserts something different than middle
mouse button and different to other applications' windows (sometimes it pastes
nothing). It is so also with disabled selection buffer at the Klipper's
settings.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Map some shortcut at System Settings -> Shortcuts -> Edit -> Paste Selection
(or just keep the default, I'd prefer the Ctrl+Insert).
2. Some app window, e. g. Firfox or LibreOffice.
3. Select some text with mouse.
4. Paste the buffer in some text field with middle mouse button.
5. Paste the buffer in some text field with "Paste Selection" shortcut.
6. Try to past in other application window.

OBSERVED RESULT
Paste actions produce different text.

EXPECTED RESULT
Paste actions produce the same string before the next selection (because there
is should be one selection buffer).

[digikam] [Bug 150531] SCHEMA : add album password-protect feature

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=150531

gessel changed:

   What|Removed |Added

 CC||ges...@blackrosetech.com

I'd suggest considering adding a tab to Configure->Views->"Privacy"

The use case would be, as generally described, selectively preventing the
display of some subset of images in casual use of Digikam. It would
complement, for example, either offline albums or or albums on encrypted or
otherwise protected locations by preventing the display of thumbnails and
meta-information for those albums.

Initially populate this tab with:

Enter a password to protect this tab with a password [ ]

Hide albums (list box with multi-select)

Do not show images meeting the below criterion [] (checkbox)

Then the same options in the filter dialog but all are interpreted as OR such
that any image meeting any selected criterion is hidden and not accessible in
the interface.

SUMMARY
Hover effects missing on minimise/maximise/close buttons with Lightly theme

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

2. Use Lightly for window decorations
3. Open Firefox or Thunderbird
4. Hover minimise/maximise/close buttons to see that everything works as
expected
5. Hide title bar through Firefox/Thunderbird customisation menu
6. Hover minimise/maximise/close buttons to see that the hover effects are
missing

OBSERVED RESULT
Hover effects on minimise/maximise/close buttons are missing when

EXPECTED RESULT
Hover effects should work

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: Manjaro Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 5.21.3
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.80.0
Qt Version: 5.15.2
Kernel Version: 5.11.10-1-MANJARO
OS Type: 64-bit
Graphics Platform: X11

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Lightly devs have pointed out that this is likely to be an issue with
breeze-gtk: https://github.com/Luwx/Lightly/issues/50

Hover effects work perfectly fine in KDE apps (e.g. Dolphin or Kate) but are
missing in Firefox and Thunderbird. Clicking on the button changes its colour
as expected.

It's just a minor detail in the area of theme consistency but maybe it's
fixable somehow?

I think it's not the same issue as described here
(https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=426687) but I'm not fully sure.

In order to avoid automatic sleeping after certain inactivity, I go to "Energy
Saving" in Plasma settings and disable "Suspend session" then my machine should
never be put to sleep, but this doesn't work at all when I let some apps like
Virtualbox running over night after which I found my session in sleep state
(some apps like Elisa and Firefox have their power options which force my
machine to never sleep)
In tray system there's battery icon which has an option to disable automatic
sleep and lock, I don't know which option has more priority : the "Suspend
session" in "Energy Saving" or the one in battery widget !
The more confusing is the existence of power management for activities, which
means you can set power management plan for each activity : but which power
plan will have more priority : the one set per activity or "Suspend session" or
the widget setting ?

What I can say is this look like a mess and very confusing for an average user,
it should be fixed to become more logical and intuitive without much ambiguity.

Yes, I think this helps at least a little :-)

First of all: to avoid such problems you should make sure to use other "proper"
places e.g. inside your home dir.

However it seems you are using the Snap and the default path is not very good
and should be changed if possible… The Snap is not very well maintained by the
Kdenlive team (flatpak and appimage are currently better maintained), but
Jonathan Riddell updated it recently and I asked him for help:

[BasicListItem] Don't unconditionally apply leading and trailing padding

Right now the leadingPadding and trailingPadding properties are being
unconditionally applied even if there are no leading or trailing items.
Let's only apply them if there are leading or trailing items. This fixes
the problem of BasicListItems witout leading items having their icons
indented too far to the right.

Fix streaming of windows when we are using a mix of scales

At the moment a streamed screen when the screen scale was differnt
buffer scale would render wrong. This change addresses it by
compensating it.

This change compensates it resizing the rendered viewport to their
difference.

[kdenlive] [Bug 435800] kdenlive project has vanished completely

2021-04-16 Thread Graham
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=435800

Thank you Julius for your prompt reply. By way of further info on this problem
I can report the following.

My OS is Ubuntu 20.04.

Within kdenlive, with a blank project, if I click Project / Settings, I see
that the "Project folder to store proxy clips, thumbnails, previews" is by
default set to

"/home/graham/snap/kdenlive/common/.cache/kdenlive"

If I close that, and on the Settings menu click "Configure kdenlive", on the
Project Defaults tab next to "Custom project folder" I see
"/home/graham/Videos", which is currently NOT selected.

Given the above, it seems that my projects are ACTUALLY being saved in folders
under

"/run/user/1000/doc/",

with a copy apparently also being saved in folders under

"/run/user/1000/doc/by-app/snap.kdenlive/".

Some of the folders under these locations are empty, some contain a project
file.

Does any of the above shed light on this issue?

Thanks again for your help. Best regards,

Graham.

#1 is not really fixable, and not a thing we would do even if it were possible
to fix, because they are different UI elements. There's no logical reason why a
list item should be the exact same height as a toolbar.

#2 Doesn't really make sense IMO. Going back is not the same thing as going to
the home page. And we would lose the ability to go back to the home page from
any arbitrary page in the UI

#3 is a legitimate issue. I'll see if it's fixable.
