[kate] [Bug 436754] New: Encoding ASCII visibility
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=436754 Bug ID: 436754 Summary: Encoding ASCII visibility Product: kate Version: 21.04.0 Platform: Ubuntu Packages OS: All Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: kwrite-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: evren...@hotmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY When i need a text file with ASCII encoding, i click menu Tools -> Encoding but i could not find how to do, thought there is another option "Byte Order Mark" can be unchecked to imitate ASCII, what i really need is pure ASCII with extended chars (0-255). OBSERVED RESULT ASCII could not be found in Encodings list. EXPECTED RESULT ASCII should be first menu entry in Encodings menu, should easily be seen. I think UTF-8 also should be second entry in that menu, instead of searching it on the bottomish lines of that menu, because it is the most widespread standard used in the world. [kate] [Bug 436753] New: json format has issues on windows
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=436753 Bug ID: 436753 Summary: json format has issues on windows Product: kate Version: 20.08.1 Platform: Microsoft Windows OS: Microsoft Windows Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: kwrite-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: evren...@hotmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY Using this function: Tools -> External Tools -> Tools -> JSON Format Full File First issue, jq.exe is not exist in application directory, so it is unusable, menu item doesn't appear. Second issue, i installed jq from internet, json format menu item is available, but it give errors, so i searched internet for how to fix it, found out error caused by arguments passed to jq, can be changed in Settings -> Configure Kate -> External Tools -> JSON Format Full File -> Edit -> Arguments: '.' %{Document:FileName} i have fixed this issue manually by replacing it with: "." "%{Document:FileName}" Third issue is after installing jq on the system, when using json format, jq uses cr lf as line endings, but kate replaces line endings with cr cr lf, and broke it. If i choose Unix line endings before saving the resulting text, it will be saved correctly, otherwise it will save a broken text file (with cr cr lf endings). Another minor issue is, jq command should be more accessible on the menu, could be somewhere in the menu that more easily be seen and used. [partitionmanager] [Bug 436752] New: Unable to refuse to enter password in policykit dialog
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=436752 Bug ID: 436752 Summary: Unable to refuse to enter password in policykit dialog Product: partitionmanager Version: 21.04.0 Platform: Archlinux Packages OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: andr...@stikonas.eu Reporter: ash...@linuxcomp.ru Target Milestone: --- When launching KDE Partition Manager, it opens a PolicyKit dialog window in which it asks user to enter password. But if user decides to close application he is unable to do it until he enters a correct password or use xkill. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Launch partitionmanager application 2. Several windows will appear: main window, a small window with scanning status, policy kit dialog window. 3. Try to close window with password dialog or any other application windows or try to enter wrong password. OBSERVED RESULT When you close a policykit window, another one immediately appears. This happens infinite times, no matter how much times you have tried to close it. When you enter wrong password trying to make it fail several times, it keeps asking it. When you try to close other application windows, nothing happens, as they wait responce from policykit process. Use ctrl + alt + esc shortcut to kill the policykit window and partition manager shows no devices and no partitions. (Looks like it remains broken even after relaunch: policy kit window does not appear for application until relogin). EXPECTED RESULT User should be able to refuse to launch application without entering password. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Arch Linux KDE Plasma Version: 5.21.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.81.0 Qt Version: 5.15.2 Graphics Platform: X11 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION In Gparted, the interface of the application is not shown at all until you enter password in policykit window. As for me it looks more intuitive then several windows of Partition Manager even when they are greyed out. In Gparted, if you enter wrong password three times, it will stop asking it and simply will not launch. I think the same should happen in Partition Manager. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

There is no point in storing old versions of these files. My suggestion is to delete old files that describe the same document, and also delete the old file when the document is reloaded automatically. In case we don’t want to save file names, but hashes of the file content, only my second suggestion would apply. Delete/migrate old descriptions when the document is reloaded. Question: What do these numbers mean? For example, I have these two files: 13107254.pgfplots.pdf.xml 13572671.pgfplots.pdf.xml They point to the same file under same paths, but do not store any timestamp. [dolphin] [Bug 436745] missing menue and shortcut Strg+M
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=436745 --- Comment #8 from Holger --- Ok Nate, So you use the Tumbleweed with KDE desktop as well? By the way, I still have a virtual machine running openSUSE Leap 15.2. However, with Gnome desktop. This I had opened under my regular user, but the one for video recording. Now I have postinstalled Dolphin there; however, it comes from a flatpak package in version 20.04.2-lp152.1.1. There the submenu 'Show menu bar' is present and (of course) the shortcut Ctrl+M works then, too. So I suspect that the bug is related to a system update from Tumbleweed, they always have the very latest software and unfortunately sometimes minor bugs ... Something strange in addition: I was in full screen mode of the virtual machine (Leap / Gnome desktop), pressed the meta key to open so the application launcher. I typed 'Dolphin' and it opened. Here Dolphin worked by default, without the bug I mentioned. Then I realized that there is no Dolphin installed in Gnome (!); I checked and sure enough, Dolphin had to be installed first. So I used the shortcut 'Meta key' to open (unintentionally) not the Dolphin in the virtual machine (because it was not installed yet), but the Dolphin of the host system (under the user for video editing). And lo and behold: the bug was not there. I then left the virtual machine and opened the Dolphin of the video user again (later also under my regular user); the bug is still there (under both users). Moreover, the bug is still there in my regular user's virtual machine (Tumbleweed /KDE) and, of course, in the regular user's host system. And then I also started the virtual machine with Leap / Gnome under the regular user and tried to recreate the above phenomenon in full screen mode. The Meta button did not open Dolphin this time, only when I left the full screen mode of the virtual machine (so just the other way around, that is, under the user described for video). Then, without full screen mode, I could access my host system's Dolphin with the Meta key and the bug was there. However, under the Dolphin from the flatpak I had previously installed in the virtual Gnome, the bug is still missing and shows the menu bar. That sounds really illogical, doesn't it? But that's exactly what happened ... :-/ The bug can't be reproduced on a regular basis; what is certain is that it doesn't occur under the (probably not so recent) flatpak package I installed under Leap. Have a nice weekend! [okular] [Bug 436738] docdata duplicated each time pdf is edited
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=436738 --- Comment #3 from pbs3...@googlemail.com --- Here is another way to put it. The only way the old viewing parameters could ever come in useful again is if I secretly kept a copy of the old version, and overwrote the new version with it at some later date. Then Okular could say "aha, let me take you back to where you were". It would then reset the viewing position to how it was when I was last looking at it, which might be different to the current viewing position. But what does the user want in this case? They'd rather stay where they are. So the saved information proves to be of no use. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=436309 --- Comment #3 from theglentur...@gmail.com --- It had obviously something to do with my multimedia codecs. As I put them back to packman repository (from opensuse multimedia, it worked fine again. It didn't happen with Dolphin. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=436738 --- Comment #2 from pbs3...@googlemail.com --- I would expect the old xml file to be overwritten with the new one. After all, Okular clearly already knows that the new pdf file has overwritten the old one; that's why it reloads the pdf and keeps the same viewing position in the way it does. Given this, it doesn't make sense to keep the old xml file around. When rendering the png sequence Krita's RAM usage jumps up to 8GB, what is weird is that after rendering Krita's usage doesn't go down, not too sure what that is. However, there are still a few GB of RAM left to be utilized. At most my RAM jumped up to 80% usage. If I reduce the canvas height by 1000px the problem doesn't occur. So resolution definitely plays a role. Just tested further when dividing the height and width by 5 and then duplicating the style layers. Then during rendering, I will get this note: The memory limit has been reached. Then a > basic heuristic would be not to require reboot for packages that are not > dependencies of other (installed) packages. This would at least allow to > exclude most end-user applications, like web browsers and office > applications, where a reboot should not be needed. That info is already available in every .deb package, it just needs to be gathered and stored in a central location to prevent having to check each individual package needing updating. There would also need to be a way to grab that data when a package manager other than Discover was used to install a package. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
