[krunner] [Bug 438388] Krunner still shows duplicate entry after 5.22 update

2021-06-13 Thread Nishith Khanna
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=438388

An update for the adaptive panel it works now with KDE frameworks 5.83 update.

The Krunner issue still exists but I think as Antonio said its more of a distro
thing.

For Shortcut idk if its intended behavior or not so don't know if its a bug or
not. As when I did a fresh install of Arch recently as got a new ssd. So I
reinstalled everything and in that Konsole shortcut was missing i.e ctrl + alt
+ T. Had to add it by adding konsole application in shortcuts KCM. Khotkeys was
installed btw if that matters.

I use the Breeze widget theme systemwide and want this to be respected in my
apps--especially in my KDE apps. :) It would be nice if KStars used the system
widget theme by default instead of Fusion.

If the reason why you're doing this is to be able to have custom color schemes,
this is possible in another way without forcing the use of a specific widget
theme. You might look to see how Kate or Konsole handle it, for example.

Super amazing software, BTW.

Thanks for the test. I have tried again in 5.22, and the behavior is the same
as yours. The original bug has disappeared. I think now this is the correct
behavior (new application open in background) because the option specifies to
prevent the new application from stealing the focus.

Therefore, I am closing this bug report. Please feel free to reopen the bug if

Can't reproduce anymore, no more crash doing the same steps, even in newly

One thing though after closing Dolphin, the "close" botton in the KNS window
still does not work and the changes that fixed the crash took away the "x"
botton from the window.
Not sure if it can be closed as Fixed?

Removing global theme fails to erase all related files

When you open Plasma Settings and go to Global Theme page then click on "Get
New Global Themes", for example if you install Sweet KDE theme you will have
Sweet theme additions in the following pages :
- Appearance > Global Theme
- Appearance > Plasma Style
- Appearance > Colors
- Appearance > Windows Decorations
- Appearance > Icons
- Appearance > Cursors
- Appearance > Splash Screen
Even password dialog will appears to enter root password for installing Sweet
theme for SDDM, so you will get and entry in :
- Startup and Shutdown > SDDM

If you go to Global Theme page then click on "Get New Global Themes" and select
only Installed themes and click on Uninstall button to remove Sweet theme,
normally the uninstallation process should remove all those entries added
during installation, but Sweet theme entries remains in the following pages :
- Appearance > Plasma Style
- Appearance > Colors
- Appearance > Windows Decorations
- Appearance > Icons
- Appearance > Cursors
- Startup and Shutdown > SDDM

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=384066

If auto-rotation doesn't work in "Tablet mode only", that means that Libinput
is never detecting that your laptop is in tablet mode. If it actually is in
tablet mode from your perspective, you should file a bug report on Libinput at
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/libinput/libinput/-/issues/.

Okay. I get it. It's misleading if one comes from Windows because Windows has
an actual "Tablet Mode". But the Plasma setting is referring to a hardware
state, not a "software state".

I tested by re-activating the "tablet mode only" checkbox and removing the
keyboard. Automatic rotation didn't work.

In my case, unchecking "tablet mode only" produces the desired results—the
opposite of your advice, but it sent me in the right direction.

Oh. That's weird. Just the opposite. If I deselect "tablet mode only", it works
fine.

Obviously because I'm not "in tablet mode"? Where is "tablet mode"? Is that
even a thing yet?

Curiously, if I search for "tablet" in settings, nothing comes up. Not even
this "in tablet mode only" setting.

Yeah, I think we've established the existing diagnostic output doesn't meet
your expectations. :) It's concentrated on the scenario where an audio file is
read and considered but then doesn't get added to the collection for whatever
reason (no album, no track number, inconsistent artist, bad merging of entries,
etc.).

So like I said, the lack of any output seems to indicate that the directory may
be read for the list of files but something is keeping those files from either
being scanned or read. That part of the code hasn't changed much in a while, so
I'm also at a bit of a loss why it might have worked before but not now. So I'm
going back through any recent changes again. Nothing in my unit tests are
showing up as having any problems.

[frameworks-kxmlgui] [Bug 438580] New: Expanded tooltips don't work correctly on wayland

2021-06-13 Thread David Edmundson
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=438580

Bug ID: 438580
Summary: Expanded tooltips don't work correctly on wayland
   Product: frameworks-kxmlgui
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdelibs-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk
  Target Milestone: ---

Console output says it all really:

0:35:10.159 qt.qpa.wayland:
QtWaylandClient::QWaylandXdgSurface::setGrabPopup|QtWaylandClient::QWaylandXdgSurface::QWaylandXdgSurface|QtWaylandClient::QWaylandXdgShell::getXdgSurface
setGrabPopup called with a parent,
QtWaylandClient::QWaylandXdgSurface(0x561fd9ba8c20) which does not match the
current topmost grabbing popup,
QtWaylandClient::QWaylandXdgSurface(0x561fd9c9dde0) According to the xdg-shell
protocol, this is not allowed. The wayland QPA plugin is currently handling it
by setting the parent to the topmost grabbing popup. Note, however, that this
may cause positioning errors and popups closing unxpectedly because xdg-shell
mandate that child popups close before parents

Using WhatsThis::showText(m_lastExpandableToolTipGlobalPos,
 m_action->whatsThis(), &positioningHelper);

with an unmapped parent certainly isn't helping, we'll be getting in the path
for Qt to guess the transient parent. This sets it to be based on the current
popup that is about to close.
Closing the initial popup first might fix it. I haven't tested it

---

Steps to reproduce:
 - open kwrite, hover over bookmarks -> set bookmark
 - press shift

Nothing happens. The next menu invocation is also then broken.

Like mentioned above, the translation bug was that you don't see this detailed
list. You could try and see if you can properly see it when using it in
English. For example by typing in command line: LANG=en_US kcmshell5 smart

Otherwise this issue sounds like a new bug report.

files. I do not see where it opened any of the flac files from the strace. I
don't see any unusual errors. It just returns without doing any scans of the
individual files.

There is no reason for the window version of ktimetracker to not support
translations (maybe there are not shipped? But that's a different story).

This is a different bug though.

To get an error message like that you could go in dolphin, then create the file
"foo.desktop" and try to execute it.
Then an error window spawns in the top left corner and you can't move it.
(In reply to Alois Wohlschlager from comment #2)
> That window seems to be not maximizable by design, and the "maximize" option

This doesn't only happen when I try to maximize it.
That button isn't greyed out for me for some reason.

[i18n] [Bug 438299] extra I18N_EXCESS_ARGUMENTS_SUPPLIED after SMART status page warning

2021-06-13 Thread nttkde
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=438299

At least in my case the warning was valid, a failing disk controller had caused
some CRC errors (most often those are caused just by a bad SATA cable, but may
be a sign of hardware failure). And some other non-critical statistics were a
bit high.
It still PASSES the SMART tests in smartctl as some amount of the CRC errors
may be normal.

Double-check that there isn't anything suspicious in the SMART attributes, even
if the overall status is Passed.

I'm not a developer but I don't think this specific translation error could
have caused that; some bug could of course be elsewhere though.

Maybe file a new bug report to 'plasma-disks' (and include smartctl -x command
output) if you think your HDD is okay and the error was for no reason;
and a wishlist bug to 'kinfocenter' for the "more info" button.

[kdeconnect] [Bug 438566] kdeconnect-sms disobeys qt5&kvantum theme settings

2021-06-13 Thread Simon Redman
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=438566

Thanks for reporting this bug.

I know approximately nothing about theming. However, I have one detail which
might help debug further:

kdeconnect-sms is not a traditional C++ Qt app, it is written in QML with heavy
use of Kirigami. As far as I have experienced, this alone has significant
impact on how themes are applied.

I would encourage you to investigate more QML/Kirigami applications and see if
this is the common link. Lots of modern KDE applications use QML and Kirigami.
