[kwin] [Bug 441892] New: unintentional triggering of hot corners
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=441892 Bug ID: 441892 Summary: unintentional triggering of hot corners Product: kwin Version: unspecified Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: franz.trischber...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY I fight against unintentionally activating the hot corners already some years now. I move the mouse into the area (corner/side) and out of nowhere the effect activates, ignoring the set timeout. I now finally found two issues but I'm not sure if that's all. Because I had activations where I never touched the corner before and from observation didn't even push into the border, just scraped the highlight (glow) activation area. The 2 issues: 1) The four sides (not the corners) can be activated without the visual hint (glow) showing up. 2) Moving in and out the sensitive area several times activates the effect although none of the individual "pushes" is long enough to activate the effect. I recorded a video: https://youtu.be/y5TQH_9Ik5g You see: [0) activation timeout is set to 500ms already - way longer than the default 150ms] 1) Pushing in the top right outside the glowy area (above the clock) to activate krunner 2) intentional activation of krunner (top edge) 3) poking quickly into the top edge to activate krunner 4) left edge: intentional activation of kactivities 5) unintentional activations - you see how far out I can go and how long I can stay outside. So what should be changed: 1) highlight effect should be synchronized with actual activation zone. 2) The timer should stop _immediately_ after the user is out further that the last line of pixels at the edge and not accumulate the time spent pushing behind the last line of pixels. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS OpenSuse Tumbleweed, but had it with arch and Gentoo, too (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.22.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.85.0 Qt Version: 5.15.2 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=370676 --- Comment #19 from Wedge009 --- I think they need more information than that. Nate indicates it's no longer a problem for him. I confirm it's not an issue with Plasma 5.18.7.1 nor 5.22.4 on (K)Ubuntu. You mentioned KDE Neon before - is it possible to try a fresh installation and see what happens? I generally find a reliable means to replicate the problem would be a good starting point - cannot easily diagnose an issue that one cannot replicate. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[konsole] [Bug 441889] New: SSH Manager does not allow port numbers greater than 9999
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=441889 Bug ID: 441889 Summary: SSH Manager does not allow port numbers greater than Product: konsole Version: 21.08.0 Platform: Debian unstable OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: konsole-de...@kde.org Reporter: shadowm2...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY The new SSH Manager plugin does not accept port numbers above . This is a bit of a problem for my own use case, where I have access to systems with ssh servers listening on port numbers well above 1. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Use Plugins -> Show SSH Manager 2. Click on Add to add a new SSH configuration 3. Attempt to enter 12345 into the Port field OBSERVED RESULT The maximum port number that may be entered is . EXPECTED RESULT The maximum port number that may be entered should be a larger number above and below 65536 (see Additional Information below). SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux: Debian sid, Linux kernel 5.13.10 KDE Plasma Version: 5.22.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.85.0 Qt Version: 5.15.2 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION While the idea of validating port numbers is nice, the issue with getting too specific with it is that the range for non-ephemeral ports can vary by platform and individual system configuration. For Linux in particular, the default range for ephemeral ports (configurable via procfs /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_local_port_range) is 32768-60999, allowing ports 1 through 32767 to be used for anything else. Meanwhile, IANA recommends people to use 49152-65535 for ephemeral ports. The validation check can be changed to accept port numbers with 5 digits instead of 4 since port numbers are currently 16-bit unsigned integers. If the devs prefer, the port number can be checked to be less than or equal than 65535, but again getting more specific than that is bound to cause incompatibilities with edge cases. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=169405 Grady changed: What|Removed |Added CC||mindinsom...@gmail.com --- Comment #19 from Grady --- I'd like to add myself to the list of folks who would like this. To give an example of a user case. I'm a graphic designer. I have some folders with photos and 3D renders, which I would like very large thumbnail icons for so I can see at a glance what is in them when selecting a file. I have other folders with SVG icons I use for UI design, and I don't need those to have 256x256 resolution thumbnails. I find myself almost constantly changing the zoom level with every folder, and changing it to the same sizes for each folders because the zoom level isn't remembered. At least an option to save zoom level per folder would drastically improve my experience using Dolphin. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kmail2] [Bug 390002] Message viewer: attached .doc file is shown as encrypted
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=390002 --- Comment #7 from Ingo Klöcker --- I had a quick look at what GpgME::data().type() is doing. It looks as if any data that starts with something that looks even remotely like a valid OpenPGP packet is identified as some OpenPGP data. The code trying to identifying the data basically only looks at the first byte. If bit 7 is set, then there is a chance of 31:127 that the data is identified as some kind of OpenPGP data and a chance of 15:127 that the data is identified as GpgME::Data::PGPOther. There is special code to prevent PNG files starting with "\x89PNG" from being identified as some kind of OpenPGP data, but that's the only blacklisting that's done. Given this, I conclude that GpgME::data().type() is not suitable for checking if arbitrary data is some kind of OpenPGP data. In my opinion, it should only be used on data if there are good reasons to assume that this data is indeed OpenPGP data, but if it's not clear what kind of OpenPGP data. For identifying data of type application/octet-stream, we should use file type detection provided by other libraries. Isn't there something in KF5 maybe in KIO that determines the mimetype? Or are we doing the GpgME::data().type() only after KIO returns application/octet-stream? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[kwin] [Bug 409620] Plasma 5.16.2 Blur Noise Level Issue
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=409620 --- Comment #7 from David Edmundson --- Git commit c193efc96239f1a0611206708b84dba2d7befdaa by David Edmundson, on behalf of Tatsuyuki Ishi. Committed on 01/09/2021 at 21:42. Pushed by davidedmundson into branch 'master'. blur: add noise in perceptual space The previous implementation added noise in linear space, which resulted in the effect becoming more pronounced on black backgrounds. This patch changes the process to be applied in perceptual space, by making the noise addition pass a separate draw call and disabling GL_FRAMEBUFFER_SRGB during that. After this change, noise will look much more suppressed and almost never grainy. This change also changes the range of the noise from [-strength..strength) to [0..strength), as blending can only be either additive or subtractive. As a result, users might need to ramp up their noise parameter after this change. v2: Add more explanation around the draw call. v3: Fix noise not fading out with the fade out effect. v4: Restore an accidentally removed comment. v5: Add CCBUG. v6: Rebase. v7: Fix a formatting issue. [plasmashell] [Bug 341143] Bring back per-virtual-desktop wallpapers
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=341143 --- Comment #455 from Lehmeier --- I can understand that, KDE 5 is also unusable for my taste, which is why I switched to XFCE. It can't do everything, but it is constantly being developed and doesn't make such big leaps as KDE. KDE is probably losing more and more users, but the programmers don't seem to care. So don't. It's just a pity that there is no fork of KDE 4.14. I would install it again immediately. I tried Suse a long time ago, with 4.0 (unpacked, read the manual, packed it, waited for a new version) - but it didn't convince me for long, even though I tested it again and again. After Suse, came Debian, Ubuntu (when Unity came, I left again), Mint, Manjaro and now also Suse Tumbleweed and EndeavourOS for my daughter as a test. So after about 25 years of dual-booting with Windows, I decided last year to switch completely to Manjaro. So far without any regrets. As for deepl.com, I use it too - it just does the better translations.
