I see in Synaptic but a screenshot doesn't seem a good idea, does it?

[kwin] [Bug 441892] New: unintentional triggering of hot corners

2021-09-01 Thread Franz Trischberger
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=441892

Bug ID: 441892
Summary: unintentional triggering of hot corners
   Product: kwin
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: franz.trischber...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
I fight against unintentionally activating the hot corners already some years
now. I move the mouse into the area (corner/side) and out of nowhere the effect
activates, ignoring the set timeout.
I now finally found two issues but I'm not sure if that's all. Because I had
activations where I never touched the corner before and from observation didn't
even push into the border, just scraped the highlight (glow) activation area.

The 2 issues:

1) The four sides (not the corners) can be activated without the visual hint
(glow) showing up.

2) Moving in and out the sensitive area several times activates the effect
although none of the individual "pushes" is long enough to activate the effect.

I recorded a video:
https://youtu.be/y5TQH_9Ik5g
You see:
[0) activation timeout is set to 500ms already - way longer than the default
150ms]
1) Pushing in the top right outside the glowy area (above the clock) to
activate krunner
2) intentional activation of krunner (top edge)
3) poking quickly into the top edge to activate krunner
4) left edge: intentional activation of kactivities
5) unintentional activations - you see how far out I can go and how long I can
stay outside.

So what should be changed:
1) highlight effect should be synchronized with actual activation zone.
2) The timer should stop _immediately_ after the user is out further that the
last line of pixels at the edge and not accumulate the time spent pushing
behind the last line of pixels.

Here my pc:

Qt Version: 5.15.3

To replicate this bud I have only to give the screen-lock command (in my case
meta+l): I see the correct slideshow, but no way to get rid of it: no field for

I think they need more information than that. Nate indicates it's no longer a
problem for him. I confirm it's not an issue with Plasma 5.18.7.1 nor 5.22.4 on
(K)Ubuntu. You mentioned KDE Neon before - is it possible to try a fresh
installation and see what happens? I generally find a reliable means to
replicate the problem would be a good starting point - cannot easily diagnose
an issue that one cannot replicate.

[Skanlite] [Bug 441890] New: Skanlite fails to save scans

2021-09-01 Thread Steve Zakulec
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=441890

Bug ID: 441890
Summary: Skanlite fails to save scans
   Product: Skanlite
   Version: 21.08.0
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kare.s...@iki.fi
  Reporter: spzaku...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 141236
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=141236&action=edit
screenshot of the error message

SUMMARY
Skanlite will scan fine, but when you go to save the scan, you always get
"Failed to save image".

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Skanlite
2. Do a preview scan & a full scan, or just a scan (I am using 600 dpi)- I've
tried saving to JPG, PNG, and TIFF formats

OBSERVED RESULT
Skanlite pops up an error saying "Failed to save image"

Then which you click OK, the progress bar never stops moving, and the program
is not usable until you click Close

EXPECTED RESULT
Skanlite successfully saves the scan.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: KDE Neon 5.22.4
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.22.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.85.0

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I'm using a Canon CanoScan LiDE 300, which works fine in Document Scanner, and
fine in Skanlite up until the point at which the scan needs to be saved.

When I run skanlite from a Konsole, this text shows up in the Konsole when I
try to save the scan:

[konsole] [Bug 441889] New: SSH Manager does not allow port numbers greater than 9999

2021-09-01 Thread Iris Morelle
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=441889

Bug ID: 441889
Summary: SSH Manager does not allow port numbers greater than

   Product: konsole
   Version: 21.08.0
  Platform: Debian unstable
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: konsole-de...@kde.org
  Reporter: shadowm2...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

The new SSH Manager plugin does not accept port numbers above . This is a
bit of a problem for my own use case, where I have access to systems with ssh
servers listening on port numbers well above 1.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

1. Use Plugins -> Show SSH Manager
2. Click on Add to add a new SSH configuration
3. Attempt to enter 12345 into the Port field

OBSERVED RESULT

The maximum port number that may be entered is .

EXPECTED RESULT

The maximum port number that may be entered should be a larger number above
and below 65536 (see Additional Information below).

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

Linux: Debian sid, Linux kernel 5.13.10
KDE Plasma Version: 5.22.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.85.0
Qt Version: 5.15.2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

While the idea of validating port numbers is nice, the issue with getting too
specific with it is that the range for non-ephemeral ports can vary by platform
and individual system configuration. For Linux in particular, the default range
for ephemeral ports (configurable via procfs
/proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_local_port_range) is 32768-60999, allowing ports 1
through 32767 to be used for anything else. Meanwhile, IANA recommends people
to use 49152-65535 for ephemeral ports.

The validation check can be changed to accept port numbers with 5 digits
instead of 4 since port numbers are currently 16-bit unsigned integers. If the
devs prefer, the port number can be checked to be less than or equal than
65535, but again getting more specific than that is bound to cause
incompatibilities with edge cases.

[kdeconnect] [Bug 425132] Android app keeps making notification sound/vibration when persistent indicator enabled

I'm experiencing this on Android 11 as well.
- persistent notification does seem to make noise whenever a kdeconnect event
occurs. I've had it blow up randomly before though.
- file transfer notification makes noise for the duration of the transfer, and
cuts off longer notification tones about once a second

Disabling the sound is a good workaround for now.

[dolphin] [Bug 169405] Save icon size per-directory

2021-09-01 Thread Grady
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=169405

Just adding a further comment:

Dolphin already has the capacity to save per directory settings for view, for
example this is what one .directory file looks like for me:

[Dolphin]
SortOrder=1
SortRole=modificationtime
Timestamp=2021,9,2,11,42,1.22
Version=4

[Settings]
HiddenFilesShown=true

All that would need to be added is some value like 'Zoom' with the pixel zoom
level, eg:

Zoom=64

I'd like to add myself to the list of folks who would like this.

To give an example of a user case. I'm a graphic designer. I have some folders
with photos and 3D renders, which I would like very large thumbnail icons for
so I can see at a glance what is in them when selecting a file.

I have other folders with SVG icons I use for UI design, and I don't need those
to have 256x256 resolution thumbnails.

I find myself almost constantly changing the zoom level with every folder, and
changing it to the same sizes for each folders because the zoom level isn't
remembered.

At least an option to save zoom level per folder would drastically improve my
experience using Dolphin.

I've also been experiencing this issue with the default Translucency settings.

Disabling the Translucency effect made my glitched window disappear. I've had
this glitched window effect happen with at least Firefox, Chromium, Slack, and
Dolphin (likely just because these are some of my highest use applications). It
seems to happen every 1 to 2 days.

I think it generally occurs when either dragging or maximizing (by dragging to
the top of the screen) a window.

[kde] [Bug 441882] New: Icons in virtual desktop pager are too big and stick out

2021-09-01 Thread David

Bug ID: 441882
Summary: Icons in virtual desktop pager are too big and stick
out
   Product: kde
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal

  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 141235
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=141235&action=edit
pager_sticking_out

SUMMARY
In the virtual desktop pager that can be added as a widget, the icons of the
applications that are on each desktop are now bigger, oftentimes leading to the
icon sticking outside of the widget and to making it more visually difficult to
tell which applications are on each desktop, especially if there's a maximized
window somewhere.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Add a pager with many virtual desktops to the taskbar.
2. Open many apps in different virtual desktops.
3. Watch the pager.

OBSERVED RESULT
Shows big icons which might stick outside of the pager and which make it more
difficult to identify all the running apps compared to the size they had in
previous plasma versions.

EXPECTED RESULT
Should show small icons, confined to the pager space, and make it visually
possibe to identify windows of apps.

I've created a theme with colored shadow's elements.
Thus the bug should be clearly noticeable even on dark background - assuming
there should be elements with the same color.

kcms/colors: change "Apply" button to "Save"

It's a bit odd to have a "Save As..." Button but no "Save" button. The
"Apply" Button does the same thing that a save button would, and is
active during the same times, so let's just make it *be* a "Save"
button.

[ksysguard] [Bug 441881] New: KSysGuard Crashes When Closing

2021-09-01 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=441881

Bug ID: 441881
   Summary: KSysGuard Crashes When Closing
   Product: ksysguard
   Version: 5.21.5
  Platform: Debian stable
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Keywords: drkonqi
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: ksysguard-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: tonyw...@rocketmail.com
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

Application: ksysguard (5.21.5)

Qt Version: 5.15.2
Frameworks Version: 5.83.0
Operating System: Linux 5.10.0-8-amd64 x86_64
Windowing System: X11
Drkonqi Version: 5.21.5
Distribution: Debian GNU/Linux bookworm/sid

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:

I pressed the "x" button to close the program and apparently it crashed as it
closed. I had just used KSysGuard to change the CPU priority of Handbrake to
(Batch) 19. I don't know if it's relevant but I did it while it was encoding
with a few other programs open (Vivaldi, KTorrent, Discord, Steam) so CPU usage
was about 100%. I also opened both Handbrake and KSysGuard from KRunner.

The crash can be reproduced sometimes.

-- Backtrace:
Application: System Monitor (ksysguard), signal: Segmentation fault

[kmail2] [Bug 390002] Message viewer: attached .doc file is shown as encrypted

2021-09-01 Thread Ingo Klöcker
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=390002

I had a quick look at what GpgME::data().type() is doing. It looks as if any
data that starts with something that looks even remotely like a valid OpenPGP
packet is identified as some OpenPGP data. The code trying to identifying the
data basically only looks at the first byte. If bit 7 is set, then there is
a chance of 31:127 that the data is identified as some kind of OpenPGP data and
a chance of 15:127 that the data is identified as GpgME::Data::PGPOther.

There is special code to prevent PNG files starting with "\x89PNG" from being
identified as some kind of OpenPGP data, but that's the only blacklisting
that's done.

Given this, I conclude that GpgME::data().type() is not suitable for checking
if arbitrary data is some kind of OpenPGP data. In my opinion, it should only
be used on data if there are good reasons to assume that this data is indeed
OpenPGP data, but if it's not clear what kind of OpenPGP data.

For identifying data of type application/octet-stream, we should use file type
detection provided by other libraries. Isn't there something in KF5 maybe in
KIO that determines the mimetype? Or are we doing the GpgME::data().type() only
after KIO returns application/octet-stream?

[kwin] [Bug 409620] Plasma 5.16.2 Blur Noise Level Issue

2021-09-01 Thread David Edmundson
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=409620

Git commit c193efc96239f1a0611206708b84dba2d7befdaa by David Edmundson, on
behalf of Tatsuyuki Ishi.
Committed on 01/09/2021 at 21:42.
Pushed by davidedmundson into branch 'master'.

blur: add noise in perceptual space

The previous implementation added noise in linear space, which resulted in
the effect becoming more pronounced on black backgrounds. This patch
changes the process to be applied in perceptual space, by making the noise
addition pass a separate draw call and disabling GL_FRAMEBUFFER_SRGB during
that.

After this change, noise will look much more suppressed and almost never
grainy. This change also changes the range of the noise from
[-strength..strength) to [0..strength), as blending can only be either
additive or subtractive. As a result, users might need to ramp up their
noise parameter after this change.

v2: Add more explanation around the draw call.
v3: Fix noise not fading out with the fade out effect.
v4: Restore an accidentally removed comment.
v5: Add CCBUG.
v6: Rebase.
v7: Fix a formatting issue.

"balooctl disable" or "balooctl purge" can get stuck if the indexer is not
listening to commands...

You can be impolite, kill the process with "pkill baloo_file" and remove the
(probably corrupt) index with "rm ~/.local/share/baloo/index

I think though, reading Bug 431664, it might be worth trying to move to a newer
release.

[plasmashell] [Bug 341143] Bring back per-virtual-desktop wallpapers

2021-09-01 Thread Lehmeier
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=341143

I can understand that, KDE 5 is also unusable for my taste, which is why I
switched to XFCE. It can't do everything, but it is constantly being developed
and doesn't make such big leaps as KDE.
KDE is probably losing more and more users, but the programmers don't seem to
care. So don't. It's just a pity that there is no fork of KDE 4.14. I would
install it again immediately.

I tried Suse a long time ago, with 4.0 (unpacked, read the manual, packed it,
waited for a new version) - but it didn't convince me for long, even though I
tested it again and again.

After Suse, came Debian, Ubuntu (when Unity came, I left again), Mint, Manjaro
and now also Suse Tumbleweed and EndeavourOS for my daughter as a test.
So after about 25 years of dual-booting with Windows, I decided last year to
switch completely to Manjaro. So far without any regrets.

As for deepl.com, I use it too - it just does the better translations.

You do not need to change the volume IDs manually because digiKam has now built
in a function for this, see bug 441749. The change was also incorrect because
digiKam scanned the collection again. The database is no longer usable, I hope
you have one backup.
