Nevertheless, this seems to be wayland only. On X11 repeat rates above 50 work
in the test area, plasma applets and other kirigami apps.

Can reproduce. This will end up being two different bugs: one in Kickoff, and
one in System Settings. Let's use this one for Kickoff. Can you file a new one
for System Settings?

Does the headphone jack show up as a separate device in the System Settings

I have tested it with plasma 5.23.2 and there seem to be some side effects of
the fix.

1. While, the interval [1,50] seems to work as expected, the interval [50,100]
seems to be capped at 50 repeats in the test area. However, in other places
like kate and konsole, 100 repeats are possible.

2. The fractional repeat rates below 1 seem to be "rounded" to 0, which
disables the repeating behavior at all. Which seems a bit unexpected since
there exist the extra option of disabling repeat above.

For the second case it seem reasonable to round using ceil instead of floor.

[plasmashell] [Bug 444564] New: OK button is grayed out

2021-10-28 Thread Steven A. Falco
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=444564

Bug ID: 444564
Summary: OK button is grayed out
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.22.5
  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Panel
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: stevenfa...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: 1.0

SUMMARY

I used to be able to right-click on a desktop icon in a panel, change
properties, and hit OK to complete the change. Recently, the OK button is
grayed out, and cannot be clicked.

I can navigate to the corresponding desktop file (in
~/.local/share/plasma_icons) using dolphin, and I can then right-click the icon
and select "properties". The OK button in the resulting properties dialog is
_not_ grayed out and I can click it.

I tried creating a new user, and I see the same behavior there, so it doesn't
seem to be related to my account or permissions.

However, that is not a good way to edit the desktop file, because changing the
icon via dolphin does not update the icon in the panel. I have to remove the
desktop file from the panel, then drag the modified copy from dolphin to the
panel.

I'll attach some screen shots, showing what this looks like when editing via
the panel vs editing via dolphin.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. right-click an icon in a panel
2. select properties
3. notice that the OK button is grayed out

OBSERVED RESULT

OK button is grayed out

EXPECTED RESULT

OK button is clickable

on how many files are in the directory, around 5 seconds in my project which
really adds up and becomes annoying when you do searches as often as I do.

EXPECTED RESULT

This is a relatively recent issue, It used to produce results nearly instantly
in prior versions (specific versions unknown)

[systemsettings] [Bug 444494] Usernames font size is too small

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=94

With a 15.6" screen, the best resolution is 1080p, which makes things look
roughly as intended with 10pt fonts.

If this laptop has a 1366x768 display, that was just an atrociously bad
decision on the part of the laptop manufacturer. Such a low-resolution screen
is completely inappropriate for that size and will cause the user never-ending
headaches with respect to the size of things on the screen.

Assuming Peek is using the the org.freedesktop.filemanager1 function from the
spec (and it looks like it does:
https://github.com/phw/peek/search?q=filemanager&type=code), this could happen
if we broke that function on our side.

Is there any circumstance when you CAN successfully save the file? Why are you
trying to save your file under the C:\Program Files directory? That area is
almost always write protected except from the system itself. You should almost
certainly have your kmy file under your home area.
Also, please help us help you and provide more information, such as which
version of Windows, and which version of KMyMoney, although in this case, I do
believe your problem is where you are trying to save the file. Is that really
where it lives? If so, I'm not sure how you created it in the first place.

For common laptops with 15.6" screen, 10pt is too much big and make UI elements
take more space of the screen, so for me 9pt was the optimal choice. Even if I
set font Small and General to 10pt they still appear small. And any attempt to
use font size bigger than 10pt makes the whole plasma desktop really ugly. See
attached image.

The search function seems to not be focused and isolated to the launcher in
which it is present.

Rather it is activated and focused on 1 of the multiple monitors (how this is
determined I've not been able to figure out). In my case I have 3 monitors with
the search being functional on monitor 2 but not on 1 & 3.

This creates a major problem when using multiple kickoff launchers across
multiple monitors (in my case 3 monitors).

This can be seen in 3 different scenarios (with all search fields cleared in
between each scenario):

1.1) Open the launcher on screen 1 (via clicking on the icon or through meta
key).
1.2) Starting to type a search string for example "ev" to search for evolution
1.3) Nothing happens on the open launcher on monitor 1.
1.4) Opening the launcher on screen 2 then shows both the search string and the
results.

2.1) Open the launcher on screen 1 (via clicking on the icon or through meta
key).
2.2) Click inside the search bar.
2.3) Star to type a search string for example "ev" to search for evolution
2.4) The results are blank on monitor 1.
2.5) Opening the launcher on screen 2 then shows both the search string and the
results.

3.1) Open the launcher on screen 1 (via clicking on the icon or through meta
key).
3.2) Star to type a search string for example "ev" to search for evolution.
3.3) nothing happens.
3.4) Click inside the search bar.
3.5) type a different search string ("abc")
3.6) search results are shown for the original search string and the new string
inside the search box is ignored, i.e evolution is to top result.
3.7) Opening the launcher on screen 2 then shows both the original search
string and the same results as on screen 1.

ok, I see now, 'Auto load videos from same folder' has nothing to do with
paused video on opening. I understand your use case. But I only open a video if

It would be nice if paused video on opening was optional even when 'Remember

Sorry you don't like the design. I think it is fine the way it is. Moving your
eyes an inch to the right doesn't seem like a huge problem, and if we
duplictaed the default action in the popup, we would certainly get complaints
about the redundancy. If we *removed* the default action and put everything in
the popup, we would get complaints about discoverability and extra required
clicks. Design is a compromise between use cases, and I don't think there is
any way we can change this to accommodate your preferences without regressing
things for everyone else.

Disconnect watcher for xdgActivationTokenArrived

XdgActivationTokens are loaded async. To acheive a job like pattern we
were comparing serials in our slot when one was created.

On wayland this isn't ideal because we're slowly building up an
increasibly long list of lambdas being run, but they'll all no-op.

On X11 because lastInputSerial is always 0 we run the slot multiple
times for every system tray item each time an item is clicked or an
application is launched.

For xembedsniproxy this is especially problematic problematic as we will
trigger synthesised input events in our slot.

[Plasma Vault] [Bug 444451] Dropdown options don't have "Unlock and open"

> You don't need to click on a vault's list item to select it first. You can
> just click the "Unlock and open" button for whichever vault you want to
> open, which is even faster and more direct than what you are doing in that
> video.

I realize one doesn't need to click the vault to then click the right-side
button, but the point is: one finds a vault by looking at its name. If you are
to open a vault, you must first locate it, and the natural way of doing it is
by following the left side. Once you have visually located it, you then proceed
to open it, and that implies a large jump to the right side and making sure
that your movement still aligns with the vault's space as you move the mouse
there (either that, or a visual inspection as you move the mouse starting from
the right side that the item you're pointing at is the correct one, for which
you need to verify on the left side).

I'm pretty sure that if you setup 3 or more vaults or USB drives and ask random
people to open the one in the middle, they would gravitate towards either the
left-click menu or an awkward move to the right like in the video.

If you are browsing a folder list structure in dolphin or krusader for example,
you don't put the 'expand' or 'open' button at the right, you expect it to be
close to the start of the name rather than make the user first locate the
folder and then move the pointer to the right across the horizontal space that
contains the folder.

Turns out the reason for all this is baloo.
I have a lot of pics with tags etc that baloo is indexing.
The moment baloo is turned off and its database is cleared, krusader starts to
work normally and barely consumes memory...

I dunno if there is a way so krusader doesn't use any baloo stuff ???

You don't need to click on a vault's list item to select it first. You can just
click the "Unlock and open" button for whichever vault you want to open, which
is even faster and more direct than what you are doing in that video.

Introduce dismissOnHoverLeave property and toolTipVisibleChanged signal

Introduces new signal `toolTipVisibleChanged(bool toolTipVisible)`, so users
can be
signalled when the tooltip is shown or hidden.

This is needed for implementing a fix to
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=444142,
so that tooltips opened with a click are not dismissable by hovering over
another Task.

problem. I have recorded this in my bug report and referred to bug 442645.

Btw: *You guys are doing a great job!* That's why I've love GNU/Linux
since almost 14 years, especially the KDE project! I really appreciate
it - thanks again!

Beste Grüsse! Have a nice evening ...

I tested the patch, and it stops the synthesised input events, so no more
freaky mouse clicks all over the place. But apparently it stops all of these,
since the right-click menu doesn't open, which it does with v5.22.5.

However you normally get a terminal on Android, I guess.

However you said that Elisa can't find your music even when you use the
filesystem search feature which doesn't use baloo at all, so I guess this was
mis-filed to Baloo. Moving back to Elisa since the fault is more likely to be
there.

OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal

  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
If I plug a USB storage device and click it in the pop-up that shows up, the
drop-down options will not have actions to mount and open the device.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Plug in a USB storage device.
2. In the pop-up that opens offering to do something with it, click the device.
3. Watch the drop-down options offered for the device.

OBSERVED RESULT
The drop-down options do not have anything for mounting and opening the device.

EXPECTED RESULT
Should have as a first option "mount and open" (only available as a button at
the right hand side), and as a second option "mount" (without opening), and
then the rest of the options.

[plasmashell] [Bug 444449] The application launcher became far too big

2021-10-28 Thread Nate Graham

You did change the Plasma theme to something else; I can see from your
screenshot. If you change back to the Breeze Plasma theme, does the problem
immediately go away, or does it persist?

The button is at the right side, which is quite distant from the vault's name
and icon. The dropdown shows at the left, right where the vault's name and icon
are placed. I usually select the vault that I want by visually locating it's
name.
