[frameworks-ktexteditor] [Bug 435628] Crash trying to open a displaced closed folding marker
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=435628 --- Comment #6 from Jaime Torres --- > But it should not crash and one should be able to unfold the stuff, that > works, doesn't it? Unfortunately is not what I can see with the little file (and bigger ones).. When I try to unfold the for loop, it folds the method definition and if I unfold the method, the for loop is still folded. Folding and unfolding other parts doesn't help also. I can only see the for loop in the preview of the folded method. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[okular] [Bug 447789] FictionBook fb2: bad paragraph formatting
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=447789 soshial changed: What|Removed |Added Ever confirmed|0 |1 Status|NEEDSINFO |CONFIRMED Resolution|WAITINGFORINFO |--- --- Comment #6 from soshial --- Well, the core idea of the fb2 format is to never decide for the user, which text formatting or styling should be used. fb2 purpose is only to structurize data semantically (closest analogy is bare HTML with no styles). The task of formatting and styling (CSS in this analogy) customization is shifted to the reader software. User is supposed to set up these styles to their liking once and for all. Also, different countries might have different styling traditions and user is supposed to be able to change that easily. The reading software keeps and applies the same settings for every book. Summing up, I don't think I can provide any formatting/styling specification for the format, that was designed to avoid specificating styles. In my opinion, our main task here is to make user experience as close to a real reading book as possible. Otherwise, user would open a fiction book in our reader for the first time, see an "bad" unwonted formatting and close Okular at once. We don't want that. Just open several fiction book and look at the text. All of them would have justified text. Epigraphs would be mostly italic and aligned to the right. We should just copy that and maybe some day we support customizing these preferences in Settings -> Configure backends... -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=439743 Jeffrey Bosboom changed: What|Removed |Added Resolution|WORKSFORME |--- CC||jeffreybosb...@gmail.com Status|RESOLVED|REPORTED --- Comment #4 from Jeffrey Bosboom --- I also have this problem (kdevelop not using qt5ct theme). Unlike the first reporter, I intend to answer requests for more information. Arch Linux, rolling release up-to-date as of today (2022-01-08), kernel version 5.15.13-arch1-1, X.org server version 1.21.1.3, Openbox (window manager) version 3.6.1, kdevelop version 5.7.211201 (21.12.1), qt5ct version 1.5. I have attached the output of `pactree --linear --unique --optional ` for both kdevelop and qt5ct, in case the problem is a missing or outdated dependency. OBSERVED BEHAVIOR: I installed qt5ct, configured the "darker" color scheme for the "Fusion" style (the default style), and exported the environment variable QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME=qt5ct. Under this configuration, kdevelop uses a black-on-white (light) theme (see the attached screenshot). Picard (a Qt5 music tagger) correctly uses the dark theme. I believe kdevelop Settings -> Color Scheme -> Default is selected, or at least clicking it does nothing. (There are no other items in that submenu, but there's no checked checkbox or other indication that the Default item is selected.) I ran kdevelop under strace (traces attached). The main thread (6498) loads `/usr/lib/qt/plugins/platformthemes/libqt5ct.so` and reads `/home/jbosboom/.config/qt5ct/qt5ct.conf` and `/usr/share/qt5ct/colors/darker.conf`. I then built and installed qt5-styleplugins from the Arch Linux AUR and configured qt5ct to use the "gtk2" style, again with the "darker" color scheme. In this configuration, kdevelop uses a mix of colors resulting in both light text on a light background and dark text on a dark background (see the attached screenshot). Picard looks mostly okay in this configuration (just a couple of dark-on-dark menu items). DESIRED BEHAVIOR: kdevelop successfully uses the "darker" color scheme for the "Fusion" theme under qt5ct. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[frameworks-kwayland] [Bug 448141] QT_SCALE_FACTOR breaks applications on Wayfire
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=448141 --- Comment #6 from Tom B --- Sorry for keeping posting here, but something else strange is going on... QT_WAYLAND_FORCE_DPI works as expected until 143. As soon as I set it to 144, clicks stop registering. However: 1. 144 looks significantly larger than 143 (I should not be able to tell the difference 144 and 143 without comparing them side by side) 2. The default dpi is 96 (verified by comparing launching with it forced to 96 and not set at all). It can't be a coincidence that 144 is a scale factor of exactly 1.5 and it's at exactly 1.5x DPI that things break. There must be something in the code that says if the scale >= 1.5 handle it differently. But, strangely, a scale factor of < 1.5 does not work either (with QT_SCALE_FACTOR=1.1 the click events are still broken, but scaling using QT_WAYLAND_FORCE_DPI works fine until the equivalent of 1.5x. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[frameworks-kwayland] [Bug 448141] QT_SCALE_FACTOR breaks applications on Wayfire
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=448141 --- Comment #5 from Tom B --- For reference, I thought I'd try a few other applications to see if there is a common denominator: VLC: Scales correctly, clicks are registered octopi (package manager): Sales correctly, clicks are not registered Filezilla: Scale is not applied (I'm pretty sure it uses Qt) Elisa: Scales correctly, clicks are registered. Interestingly, this one is a KDE application, though I'm not sure if it uses frameworks as it does look different to the others. kdenlive: Scales correctly, clicks are broken (expected, as it's a kde frameworks application) systemsettings5: Scales correctly, clicks are broken (expected, as it's a kde frameworks application) OBS Studio: Scales correctly, clicks are broken on some elements. Resizing/dragging the video works, the menu does not, buttons do not and the entire panel at the bottom does not respond to clicks. So a mixed bag. Should I report this to Qt? It's not all Qt apps which are affected, and Elisa is definitely Qt5 so it's strange that works. Whereas OBS is not using KDE frameworks at all and that's affected. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[frameworks-kwayland] [Bug 448141] QT_SCALE_FACTOR breaks applications on Wayfire
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=448141 --- Comment #4 from Tom B --- The same thing happens on Sway (the cursor events are ignored). However, Weston is a little different. If I: - Set scale factor to 2 - Maximize the window Click events can be registered, as normal and in the correct location, in the top left quarter of the screen (which would be the size it would be drawn without the scale factor). Outside that quarter (the other 3/4 of the screen) no click events are registered at all. Strangely, this doesn't happen with Wayfire or Sway. No pointer events are registered at all in those. The issue appears to be the way the applications register the area of the screen which accepts pointer events though it's different in Sway/Wayfire and Weston. It's not the cursor position itself though, and the window has not frozen. It's only left/right click events which are ignored. If I use the mouse wheel while hovering over various panels in dolphin, the correct panel gets scrolled down. Except, if I click on the scrollbar, the panel is scrolled down slightly. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[kwin] [Bug 438883] Re-implement Desktop Cube effect with modern effects API
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=438883 Terry Wang changed: What|Removed |Added CC||ter...@gmail.com --- Comment #21 from Terry Wang --- Only discovered the removal of several Ref: https://kde.org/announcements/changelogs/plasma/5/5.22.5-5.23.0/ Removed - Effects: Remove Desktop Cube Animation effect. Commit. - Effects: Remove Desktop Cube effect. Commit. - Effects: Remove Cover Switch effect. Commit. - Effects: Remove Flip Switch effect. Commit. I understand the motivation behind the refactor / rewrite to modernize APIs and etc., however, how do you (dev team) conclude that "they are not used widely based on support information from various bug reports and our available man power is sparse, the most reasonable thing is to drop the effect, unfortunately." ??? This engineering mindset - "We've built great things, if users don't know how to use / adapt, it's their problem" can't be accepted. This reminds me the removal of GNOME 3.8 fallback mode, where integration with Compiz (Fusion) went completely broken. It appears that the GNOME developers know more about user behaviours than their users and therefore made the decision on their behalf without consulting users. I've switched to KDE 4.10 SC because of the disappointment at GNOME 3 (3.8 to be accurate). I was surprised to find most of the effects - eye-candies that I care about, embedded to my daily routine were implemented by KWin, happy till recently when I found the cube effect when switching workspaces (virtual desktops) were gone in KWin 5.23 (I run Manjaro with KDE on Pi 4 8GB model and an old MacBook). Please reimplement these effects when appropriate. [gwenview] [Bug 448142] New: Overview panel does not repaint
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=448142 Bug ID: 448142 Summary: Overview panel does not repaint Product: gwenview Version: 21.08.1 Platform: Other OS: Other Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: gwenview-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: private_l...@yahoo.com Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 145244 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=145244=edit screencast SUMMARY Overview of directory with many pictures does not repaint on return from full view of single picture, if the selection is off the center row. Moving the mouse within triggers the icons to be repainted one by one. Moving the mouse out and over the sidebar repaints the whole component. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. open information or folder sidebar 2. open folder with e.g. 100 pictures 3. increase size of preview icon, to show only a few per line 4. scroll down to the middle, so the scroll-pane won't bump into the upper or lower end 5. click on any picture to show it fullsize, that is not in the center row - will also place the selection on this icon 6. press ESC on the keyboard and move the mouse around OBSERVED RESULT The selected image shall move to the center row and thereby trigger a scroll. But the repaint is missing. The moving mouse will only repaint piecewise until the mouse moves out of the overview component to trigger a full repaint. See attached screencast. EXPECTED RESULT The repaint shall leave a consistent state, that does not cause confusion by "uncovering" the real position of icons piecewise. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Betriebssystem: Kubuntu 21.10 KDE-Plasma-Version: 5.22.5 KDE-Frameworks-Version: 5.86.0 Qt-Version: 5.15.2 Kernel-Version: 5.13.0-22-generic (64-bit) Grafik-Plattform: X11 Prozessoren: 8 × Intel® Core™ i7-4700MQ CPU @ 2.40GHz Speicher: 15,5 GiB Arbeitsspeicher Grafikprozessor: Mesa DRI Intel® HD Graphics 4600 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION The steps to reproduce are not totally reliable. If repeatedly clicking the same two images first one row above the center and second one row below the center it might "heal" the error - seemingly some "offscreen-buffer" from before can be reused and all of a sudden it works as expected. Also changing to different directories - especially those with fewer images to not allow scrolling - might "fix" the error. If the Window-hight interacts badly with the icon-size, clicking images close to the last row might cause scroll-increments of less than a full icon-hight. "Uncovering" them with the mouse one-by-one "violates" the grid position and causes "half-high" cells -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=448141 Bug ID: 448141 Summary: QT_SCALE_FACTOR breaks applications on Wayfire Product: frameworks-kwayland Version: 5.89.0 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: mgraess...@kde.org Reporter: t...@r.je CC: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- I'm not sure if this is a KDE Frameworks bug QT bug or Wayfire bug but it only happens in Qt applications on Wayland in Wayfire (it may happen in other window managers like Sway). Run `QT_SCALE_FACTOR=2 dolphin` (or `QT_WAYLAND_FORCE_DPI=192 dolphin`) to adjust the scaling. Dolphin works, the keyboard inputs are recognized but the mouse pointer does not register clicks (or registers them in the wrong place on the screen) The console prints: QImage::pixel: coordinate (0,0) out of range which does not come up when running without setting the scale factor. Without the scale factor Dolphin (or other kde apps) works perfectly, it's only when setting QT_SCALE_FACTOR (and number <> 1) that things break. As such, it seems to be a frameworks issue, not a compositor issue. When it's set KDE applications (e.g. Dolpin, ktorrent) do not accept cursor clicks correctly. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
