[frameworks-baloo] [Bug 402154] Baloo reindexes everything after every reboot

2022-01-18 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=402154

--- Comment #38 from tagwer...@innerjoin.org ---
(In reply to Joachim Wagner from comment #37)
> (1) Symlinks to other folders: If the target folder is indexed anyway the
> link can be ignored. If not, the default probably should be not to follow

Symlinks provide a bit of an edge case :-)

There are a stream of issues reported. At the moment baloo deliberately avoids
following symlinks when indexing whereas dolphin searches do follow them.
There's a summary under Bug 447119

A commonly reported scenario is that people have a separately mounted disc with
a symlink to it (as a way to give extra space for ~/Pictures, ~/Videos or
whatever).

What might (should?) happen here if we look at mount points?

I can see:
stat -f ~/symlinkto/myfile
or:
findmnt -nT ~/symlinkto/myfile
give the Filesystem ID and mount point for the destination disc and ignore the
fact that you have followed a symlink to get to it. I'd say it makes sense to
deal with the canonical names (on the destination device) while indexing and do
any adjustments to search results wrt symlinks when returning search results.

Does the "mount point" idea work here?

And does it display on the primary monitor (which would be to the right)
because that's exactly the situation I'm unable to achieve.

Could you let me know what your yakuake and plasma versions are? If we are
using the same then there is something wrong with my installation or
configuration.

To be more specific, my layout is:

[secondary monitor] [primary monitor]

Yakuake, doesn't matter which option I use (Screen 1, Screen 2 or "At Mouse
location"), will only appear in [secondary monitor]. The funny thing is I tried
to change the layout and then it appeared only on [primary monitor] hence my
comment about only appearing on the leftmost monitor.

  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: critical
  Priority: NOR
 Component: core
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: jan.clausse...@web.de
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
I have a P20 workstation and the NVidia only driver mode configured. When I go
to sleep mode and wake up, a few graphic glitches like flickering objects
occur, until after some time the x-server seems to crash. Windows get gray and
you only see fractals or black shades. My colleagues don't have any issues on
Unity or GNOME.

When graphic issues occur, I usually try to restart kwin and plasmashell, but
it doesn't work in this case. Could also be that kwin core is not the issue
here, but I wouldn't know where else to submit this bug.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set up the NVidia graphics driver on ThinkPad P20
2. Go to sleep mode
3. Wake up again

OBSERVED RESULT
After some times severe graphic issues occur.

EXPECTED RESULT
No glitches.

Because I have not the idea to push my code to this huge project, so I write

But I will use English as much as possible later. I'm sorry for my poor level

It must be happy that have such a enthusiastic and practical man like you to

For Q1, I need some time to view source code for understand it's structure and

[kate] [Bug 448695] New: block mode tabspace indents selection

2022-01-18 Thread Joey Crockett
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=448695

Bug ID: 448695
   Summary: block mode tabspace indents selection
   Product: kate
   Version: 20.04.2
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: application
  Assignee: kwrite-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: ad...@joeysun.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
***
When a line of columns is selected in block mode, pressing the tabspace-button
indents the whole selection instead of inserting a tabspace character.
***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. have a block of text in the editor control - possibly with a gap consisting
of a space character you want to replace with a tabstop
2. enter block mode
3. select a line of columns by pressing shift+down
4. remove gap with del or backspace
5. press tab button to insert tabstop char

OBSERVED RESULT
the whole selection indents (as it would outside of block mode)

EXPECTED RESULT
tabstop char should be inserted into every row at the cursor position

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux: 5.3.18-59.37-preempt x86_64
KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.6
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.76.0
Qt Version: 5.12.7

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
copying a tabstop char into the clipboard and pasting it into the gap works as
a workaround, but should not be the way to do it. indenting by use of the
tabstop button should probably be deactivated in block mode.

--- Comment #5 from Fushan Wen  ---
Git commit 7f09fb161188a4615af00dce23a8356935f42f00 by Fushan Wen.
Committed on 18/01/2022 at 10:12.
Pushed by fusionfuture into branch 'master'.

screenmapper: Remember activity ID in screen mapping

This commit adds an extra string to screenmapper to remember the
activity ID corresponding to the screen ID. Now screenmapper can
correctly handle different activites, and desktops of different
activities can correctly show their items.

The problem

When the user sets "Files linked to the current activity" on one
activity (A) and switches to any other activity (B), though the desktop
on activity B is set to "Show Desktop folder", there is nothing on
the desktop until the user restarts plasmashell.

The cause

In screenmapper.cpp, `removeScreen()` only checkes for the screen ID,
but two activities can share the same screen ID. Then if both the two
activities are set to "Show desktop folder", then in `setUrl()`

1. After the user changes the desktop folder option on one of the two
activities,
   `removeScreen()` will remove all item records related to the screen
   ID and **the old URL (desktop:/)**.
2. But `addScreen()` will only add back item records for the current activity
   because `addScreen()` will directly return if `m_availableScreens`
   already contains the screen ID (which is added from the current activity).
3. Thus items on the desktop of the other activity incorrectly disappears.

The fix

1. When calling `addScreen()` or `removeScreen()` from FolderModel, also
   consider the activity corresponding to the FolderModel, which is the
   current activity when the FolderModel is initialized.
2. Provide a migrator for the old configuration entries because an extra
   record is added.

[valgrind] [Bug 383010] Add support for AVX-512 instructions

2022-01-18 Thread melven
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=383010

melven  changed:

   What|Removed |Added

 CC||Melven.Roehrig-Zoellner@DLR
   ||.de

--- Comment #72 from melven  ---
Small remark:

If valgrind is compiled explicitly for the skylake_avx512 architecture with GCC
11 (e.g. as done by https://spack.readthedocs.io on appropriate hardware),
there is a kmovq instruction generated in vgpreload_memcheck-amd64-linux.so.

This triggers an "unrecognised instruction" error for any executable run with
valgrind (memcheck):
```
vex amd64->IR: unhandled instruction bytes: 0xC4 0xE1 0xFB 0x92 0xC8 0x48 0x8D
0x5 0xC0 0x71
vex amd64->IR:   REX=0 REX.W=1 REX.R=0 REX.X=0 REX.B=0
vex amd64->IR:   VEX=1 VEX.L=0 VEX.n=0x0 ESC=0F
vex amd64->IR:   PFX.66=0 PFX.F2=1 PFX.F3=0
==3481== valgrind: Unrecognised instruction at address 0x4c629f4.
==3481==at 0x4C629F4: stpcpy (vg_replace_strmem.c:1180)
...
```

Everything works of course fine, if one just compiles (generically) for
arch=x86_64.

Is it using Qt6 with the patch (which I guess is Qt6 master)?

[digikam] [Bug 448585] REPLACE INTO UniqueHashes blocks all Thumbnail related activities including loading

2022-01-18 Thread Maik Qualmann
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=448585

--- Comment #19 from Maik Qualmann  ---
But the problem with REPLACE INTO must be in your system/database. In digiKam,
a thread can hang if the database isn't ready, but a hanging thread can never
block another thread that wants to use the database. We use a lock when
accessing the database, only one thread can read/write from the database at a
time. This is necessary for SQLite and would not necessarily be necessary for
MySQL.
Please create a complete DebugView log with the problem.

This bug is now fixed somehow. It's obvious it's not NVIDIA's fault for the

this I think.

Hi Maik,

I'd grateful if you could help me with this one. If % doesn't work, what is
then the correct way to specify host(s)? Thank you!

   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED

  Priority: NOR

  Assignee: neon-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: pos...@posteo.eu
CC: j...@jriddell.org, neon-b...@kde.org, sit...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

In the Infocenter of KDE Neon Unstable you can find information about the
"Graphics" of system. However, except for the X11 tab, OpenGL (EGL), OpenGL
(GLX) and Vulkan do only report "The executable (eglinfo|glxinfo|vulkaninfo)
could not be found in $PATH".

In other words, the following packages are missing:

* mesa-utils-extra
* mesa-utils
* vulkan-utils

It would be convenient of those little packages came preinstalled.

  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org

SUMMARY
Dolphin always restores all tabs from last close. Even if a secondary instance
and so on is opened.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Dolphin
2. Create multiple Tabs
3. Close Dolphin
4. Open Dolphin (Tabs are restored)
5. Open another Dolphin (New Instance, Middle Click on Icon, or Meta+E)

OBSERVED RESULT
On the second instance all tabs from last close are there again. Especially
when many tabs are open, this is annoying.

SUMMARY

I am testing the Wayland session on KDE Neon Unstable, so when rebooting
"Wayland" is pre-chosen on the SDDM screen.
When I now open the virtual Keyboard, it scales correctly, maybe almost too
huge. When I however now select "X11" in the combobox and open the virtual
keyboard again, it becomes very tiny.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: KDE Neon Unstable
KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.80
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.91.0
Qt Version: 5.15.3

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Scaling in X11 and Wayland: 2.0
Scaling was not automatically applied to SDDM, so it still scales with 1.0
(yay!)

Colors are specified by the theme and KTextEditor respects whatever the theme
specifies. If the colors are specified in a way that nothing will be visible,
then its theme's fault not the renderer's. As such, any coloring fixes should
go to respective themes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=448710

Bug ID: 448710
   Summary: Login animation scales first with SDDM scaling factor,
then changes to session scaling factor
   Product: kwin
   Version: 5.23.90
  Platform: Other

Screenrecording

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1.  Reboot
2.  Login

OBSERVED RESULT
The loading screen with the animated gear is displayed:

1. scaled with SDDM's scaling factor
2. after a few seconds, the scaling changes to the session's scaling factor

EXPECTED RESULT
It scales directly and only with the session's scaling factor, not causing an
annoying flickering.
