After the update VLC started to show itself up in Discover, so this could be
marked as resolved. Thank you for your hard work on this product!

Can I understand that this update has made the Discover in Neon show all the
applications listed on Appstream? Or, are there some applications still being
blacklisted?

   Version: 5.1.0

Krita system information

SUMMARY
***
NOTE: If you are reporting a crash, please try to attach a backtrace with debug
symbols.
See
https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports
***
Seems to be an issue when first copying, and pasting a layer that happens to
have a local selection attached to it.
Upon pasting the layer into a group or something similar, krita hard crashes.
Furthermore, cutting/copying a local selection to a new layer results in a
crash
duplicating these layers works fine however.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create new image file
2. create a local selection layer attached to a paint layer
3. copy the paint layer with the attached local selection and paste it

OBSERVED RESULT
Krita crashes shortly after attempting to paste the layer, be it into a group
or elsewhere

EXPECTED RESULT
Krita should just paste the local selection mask/layer with attached mask

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows: Windows 10 Pro version 21H2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Trying to copy and paste selection masks on their own result in the same
behavior.
Attached is the crash log, and my system information

Bug ID: 458322
Summary: Sometimes a task's icon will be greyed out and
clicking on it does not switch focus to the window
   Product: lattedock
   Version: 0.10.8
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: plasmoid

Video showing the bug

SUMMARY
I

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. It seems to happen at random moments, to this moment I was not able to
pinpoint the exact cause to this bug.
2. When it happens, I click over the greyed out icon, the click is registered
(the icon "blinks") but the window is not brought to focus.
3. Alt-Tab still works as a way of switching to the task.
4. Restarting latte-dock with "latte-dock -r" fixes the issue.

OBSERVED RESULT
The task icon is greyed out in the task bar and clicking on it does not bring
focus to the window.

EXPECTED RESULT
The task icon should be colored, and clicking on it should bring the window
into focus.

Thanks for your reply.

It looks like the latest build has redesigned its project module. It no longer
has a 'Open Folder' command. Previous repro steps are no longer available.

I've tried to open some files, the 'Documents' side window then show opened
file names and their folders. If I choose to right click a folder and select
'Close' in the popup menu, the folder and all opened files in it will be
closed as well. No crashes.

Right now I cannot find any method to create a project. The 'Project' menu
looks like empty and no controls available in 'Project' side window.

That's all I can tell so far. Would you plz tell me if I've missed something?
Thank you.

[plasmashell] [Bug 458321] New: DPI scaling is way off when using nvidia proprietary drivers instead of nouveau

2022-08-25 Thread gamma
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=458321

Bug ID: 458321
Summary: DPI scaling is way off when using nvidia proprietary
drivers instead of nouveau
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.25.4
  Platform: unspecified
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: losoc66...@otodir.com
CC: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk
  Target Milestone: 1.0

SUMMARY
When using the nvidia proprietary drivers instead of nouveau/Intel, looks like
text is bigger and some apps don't fit it properly, so is partially or totally
"cut".
Setting "Force font DPI:" to some value like 80 fixed the issue.
Several screenshots will be attached below comparing the same window in nouveau
vs nvidia. Several distros are affected, at least Ubuntu and Manjaro.
This could be related to https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=374978

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Run KDE/plasma installed or live distro on any hardware with nvidia graphics
cards.
2. Install and enable the proprietary nvidia driver so it's in use after reboot
3. Reboot
4. Install notepadqq v1.4.8
5. Open it and press F1 to open the About dialog

OBSERVED RESULT
The version number and Copyright text is cut partially.

EXPECTED RESULT
Behave with nvidia proprietary driver like with nouveau, so display everything
properly.

[systemsettings] [Bug 305136] File associations are broken in gtk/glib apps due to lack of /usr/share/applications/kde-mimeapps.list file installed by default

2022-08-25 Thread nyanpasu64
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=305136

One detail I failed to realize or mention earlier, is that in GTK file managers
like Thunar (and probably Nautilus), opening a file in a particular app (even
without setting it as default) actually sets a "soft" default file association
by reordering the file format's entry in mimeapps.list [Added Associations].
For example, if you open Thunar, right-click a .zip file, and pick Open With ->
Open With "Archive Manager" (or pick "Open With Other Application..." and in
the dialog *don't* check "Use as default for this kind of file"), then
~/.config/mimeapps.list [Added Associations] gets a new entry
`application/zip=org.gnome.FileRoller.desktop;...`, where org.gnome.FileRoller
(Archive Manager) comes first. I think this is accomplished through
g_app_info_set_as_last_used_for_type()
(https://docs.gtk.org/gio/method.AppInfo.set_as_last_used_for_type.html ->
g_desktop_app_info_set_as_last_used_for_type
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/glib/-/blob/62a9a8a660fadf2355342b1d95c539432c666fe1/gio/gdesktopappinfo.c#L3865).
KDE/Qt's Dolphin respects the "soft" default association from [Added
Associations], but does not set [Added Associations] when you open a file in an
app.

In Thunar, if you open properties of a .zip file and set a default *there*,
then a [Default Applications] entry gets created (probably
g_app_info_set_as_default_for_type()
https://docs.gtk.org/gio/method.AppInfo.set_as_default_for_type.html). At this
point, Thunar's "Open With" menu still reorders the format's entry in [Added
Associations], but the order's first entry is ignored in favor of the
association in [Default Applications].

Players usually allow control of the playlist behavior, such as looping.

I might want to play only 1 at a time and stop (and pressing Next would start
playing the next item), or play one at a time in a loop (again pressing Next
would jump to the next item in the playlist), or to play the whole playlist in
one go and then stop, or to play the whole playlist in a loop.

These controls are particularly important with the "playlist auto-load files in
the same dir" feature.

Confirmed with one large file, a hang occurs between drag and drop and the
appearance of the move or copy selection menu, with graphical artifacts (see
screenshot). At the same time, you can hear how the hard disk starts working at
this moment, after some time the "move or copy" selection menu appears, and
after that the file is instantly copied.

[frameworks-kwallet] [Bug 458318] New: Deprecate `org.kde.kwalletd5` API

2022-08-25 Thread michaelk83
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=458318

Bug ID: 458318
   Summary: Deprecate `org.kde.kwalletd5` API
   Product: frameworks-kwallet
   Version: 5.97.0
  Platform: unspecified
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: va...@kde.org
  Reporter: mk.mat...@gmail.com
CC: kdelibs-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Now that https://invent.kde.org/frameworks/kwallet/-/merge_requests/11 has been
merged, and KWallet Framework supports the Secret Service API
(`org.freedesktop.secrets`) as of 5.97.0, can the entire `org.kde.kwalletd5`
API finally be marked as deprecated? This should encourage more KDE apps to
migrate to QtKeyChain, which supports both API backends.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.98.0+

ADDITIONAL DETAILS
`org.freedesktop.secrets` is the new standard API supported by GNOME keyring,
KeePassXC, and others. See discussion in
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=313216 and its duplicates.

Early attempts to replace KWallet with `org.freedesktop.secrets` were abandoned
due to lack of developer time. This has apparently plagued KWallet since those
times, as evidenced also by the difficulty finding reviewers for the
above-mentioned MR.

The situation was discussed back in the day on the Plasma-devel mailing list -
https://mail.kde.org/pipermail/plasma-devel/2016-July/055641.html - and the
consensus seemed to be to migrate the KDE apps to QtKeyChain, which would
separate the API from the backend implementation. QtKeyChain added support for
`org.freedesktop.secrets` (via `libsecret`) a few months later:
https://github.com/frankosterfeld/qtkeychain/pull/62 .

However, there was little incentive for KDE apps to make this migration while
the old `org.kde.kwalletd5` API is still around, and it was not possible to
remove it while apps are still using it. Now that KWallet supports the
`org.freedesktop.secrets` API, the old API can finally be deprecated to
encourage the apps to migrate. Then, maybe, it can be dropped completely in
KF6.

There is still one migration concern as discussed in
https://invent.kde.org/frameworks/kwallet/-/merge_requests/11#note_428272 and
its replies, but that should probably be handled by QtKeyChain. I will post on
that to their github issues.

korganizer (5.21.0 (22.08.0)) using Qt 5.15.5

I just ran yay -Syu. It updated haskell stuff, libtiff stuff, intel-oneapi
stuff, kwallet, kaccounts-integration, kaccounts-providers, libwpe, python
stuff, slang, system-config-printer, webki2gtk stuff, iana-etc, and grub. The
crash still is occuring after getting the system up to date.

`.kdbx` are handled by KeePassXC. Any KDE app that uses `libsecret` or
`QtKeyChain` can talk to KeePassXC via the Secret Service API.
If you specifically want to manage these files via the outdated KWalletManager
GUI, it may be wiser to port KWalletManager to QtKeyChain.

Yes, open a terminal and just type "kmymoney" (without the quote) on the
command line. The output will appear right there in the terminal.

[kate] [Bug 457409] Accidentally moving out of tab bar's y-coordinate range stops movement

The movement stops because dragging can offer two functions
- rearrange tabs
- move tab to a different split / kate instance

To differentiate between the two, the initial implementation stopped
"rearrange" as soon as the cursor left the tabbar. Another side effect was that
you would see a "tab" hanging in the middle of nowhere which was weird.

The upcoming release (22.08) improves this behaviour by allowing more
flexibility in the case where a user might just be rearranging tabs. If you
drag really far away from the tabbar, only then will the rearranging stop.
However, note that this is only done for bottom side. If you drag the tab above
the tabbar, then it will stop rearranging immediately. It is unlikely the "drag
above" case will be fixed, at least from my side since most of the times you
drag below or on the tabbar, but if there are a lot of reports that the "drag
above" case should also be handled, we can take a look.

[kdeconnect] [Bug 458278] Sharing copied text to KDE Connect Android app crashes SendFileActivity

2022-08-25 Thread Yuchen Shi
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=458278

Apologies for the inaccurate description -- just as you've said, the error is
caught and logged, and it is not a proper "crash". But the logic is indeed
cut-short and nothing is actually shared.

Regarding sending text -- I think the Android 13 share button from the
clipboard overlay is a bit different from selecting and sharing text without
copying, which does work correctly. I'm not quite familiar with `EXTRA_STREAM`
but I think that difference may be the cause of this issue.

Whereas I think it is not optimal, if you scale the UI (should be feasible both
for X11 and Wayland) you should have no that big issues.

I am not sure if we can really alter this (and if we later not want the same
"drag as own windows" behavior as Chromium.

Keeping as wish list, but if nobody steps up to take a look, this will somewhen
be closed.
