You can just use the ZIP and execute Kate from it after extraction > without installation. Thanks for your reply. It looks like the latest build has redesigned its project module. It no longer has a 'Open Folder' command. Previous repro steps are no longer available. I've tried to open some files, the 'Documents' side window then show opened file names and their folders. If I choose to right click a folder and select 'Close' in the popup menu, the folder and all opened files in it will be closed as well. No crashes. Right now I cannot find any method to create a project. The 'Project' menu looks like empty and no controls available in 'Project' side window. That's all I can tell so far. Would you plz tell me if I've missed something? Thank you. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[systemsettings] [Bug 305136] File associations are broken in gtk/glib apps due to lack of /usr/share/applications/kde-mimeapps.list file installed by default
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=305136 --- Comment #22 from nyanpasu64 --- One detail I failed to realize or mention earlier, is that in GTK file managers like Thunar (and probably Nautilus), opening a file in a particular app (even without setting it as default) actually sets a "soft" default file association by reordering the file format's entry in mimeapps.list [Added Associations]. For example, if you open Thunar, right-click a .zip file, and pick Open With -> Open With "Archive Manager" (or pick "Open With Other Application..." and in the dialog *don't* check "Use as default for this kind of file"), then ~/.config/mimeapps.list [Added Associations] gets a new entry `application/zip=org.gnome.FileRoller.desktop;...`, where org.gnome.FileRoller (Archive Manager) comes first. I think this is accomplished through g_app_info_set_as_last_used_for_type() (https://docs.gtk.org/gio/method.AppInfo.set_as_last_used_for_type.html -> g_desktop_app_info_set_as_last_used_for_type https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/glib/-/blob/62a9a8a660fadf2355342b1d95c539432c666fe1/gio/gdesktopappinfo.c#L3865). KDE/Qt's Dolphin respects the "soft" default association from [Added Associations], but does not set [Added Associations] when you open a file in an app. In Thunar, if you open properties of a .zip file and set a default *there*, then a [Default Applications] entry gets created (probably g_app_info_set_as_default_for_type() https://docs.gtk.org/gio/method.AppInfo.set_as_default_for_type.html). At this point, Thunar's "Open With" menu still reorders the format's entry in [Added Associations], but the order's first entry is ignored in favor of the association in [Default Applications]. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[frameworks-kwallet] [Bug 458318] New: Deprecate `org.kde.kwalletd5` API
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=458318 Bug ID: 458318 Summary: Deprecate `org.kde.kwalletd5` API Product: frameworks-kwallet Version: 5.97.0 Platform: unspecified OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: va...@kde.org Reporter: mk.mat...@gmail.com CC: kdelibs-b...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY Now that https://invent.kde.org/frameworks/kwallet/-/merge_requests/11 has been merged, and KWallet Framework supports the Secret Service API (`org.freedesktop.secrets`) as of 5.97.0, can the entire `org.kde.kwalletd5` API finally be marked as deprecated? This should encourage more KDE apps to migrate to QtKeyChain, which supports both API backends. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS KDE Frameworks Version: 5.98.0+ ADDITIONAL DETAILS `org.freedesktop.secrets` is the new standard API supported by GNOME keyring, KeePassXC, and others. See discussion in https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=313216 and its duplicates. Early attempts to replace KWallet with `org.freedesktop.secrets` were abandoned due to lack of developer time. This has apparently plagued KWallet since those times, as evidenced also by the difficulty finding reviewers for the above-mentioned MR. The situation was discussed back in the day on the Plasma-devel mailing list - https://mail.kde.org/pipermail/plasma-devel/2016-July/055641.html - and the consensus seemed to be to migrate the KDE apps to QtKeyChain, which would separate the API from the backend implementation. QtKeyChain added support for `org.freedesktop.secrets` (via `libsecret`) a few months later: https://github.com/frankosterfeld/qtkeychain/pull/62 . However, there was little incentive for KDE apps to make this migration while the old `org.kde.kwalletd5` API is still around, and it was not possible to remove it while apps are still using it. Now that KWallet supports the `org.freedesktop.secrets` API, the old API can finally be deprecated to encourage the apps to migrate. Then, maybe, it can be dropped completely in KF6. There is still one migration concern as discussed in https://invent.kde.org/frameworks/kwallet/-/merge_requests/11#note_428272 and its replies, but that should probably be handled by QtKeyChain. I will post on that to their github issues. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kate] [Bug 457409] Accidentally moving out of tab bar's y-coordinate range stops movement
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=457409 Waqar Ahmed changed: What|Removed |Added CC||waqar@gmail.com Status|CONFIRMED |RESOLVED Resolution|--- |FIXED --- Comment #2 from Waqar Ahmed --- The movement stops because dragging can offer two functions - rearrange tabs - move tab to a different split / kate instance To differentiate between the two, the initial implementation stopped "rearrange" as soon as the cursor left the tabbar. Another side effect was that you would see a "tab" hanging in the middle of nowhere which was weird. The upcoming release (22.08) improves this behaviour by allowing more flexibility in the case where a user might just be rearranging tabs. If you drag really far away from the tabbar, only then will the rearranging stop. However, note that this is only done for bottom side. If you drag the tab above the tabbar, then it will stop rearranging immediately. It is unlikely the "drag above" case will be fixed, at least from my side since most of the times you drag below or on the tabbar, but if there are a lot of reports that the "drag above" case should also be handled, we can take a look. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
