[gwenview] [Bug 461488] New: Gwenview add ability to toggle between View and Browse modes with Return key.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=461488 Bug ID: 461488 Summary: Gwenview add ability to toggle between View and Browse modes with Return key. Classification: Applications Product: gwenview Version: unspecified Platform: Other OS: All Status: REPORTED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: gwenview-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: vor...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- In the current state you can go from Browse to View by pressing Return (Enter key), and it's not configurable in Keyboard Shortcuts settings. But to go back to Browse you need a different hotkey, and setting Return there doesn't work. Would be nice to have the ability to toggle between modes with one hotkey, ideally configurable, but Return would be fine for me personally. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[kate] [Bug 461487] New: Kate crashes because katefilebrowserplugin.so loads the wrong kio-file-widgets shared library
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=461487 Bug ID: 461487 Summary: Kate crashes because katefilebrowserplugin.so loads the wrong kio-file-widgets shared library Classification: Applications Product: kate Version: Git Platform: Compiled Sources OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: crash Priority: NOR Component: application Assignee: kwrite-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: kogiokkaf...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 153513 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=153513&action=edit QT_PLUGIN_PATH=~/kde/usr/lib64/plugins:$QT_PLUGIN_PATH ltrace -C -o ltrace.log ~/kde/usr/bin/kate SUMMARY Kate launched by kdesrc-run crashes because katefilebrowserplugin.so tries to load the wrong version of libKF5KIOFileWidgets.so.5 in the system path (/usr/lib64). The plugin reports a symbol lookup error on "_ZNK12KDirOperator6actionENS_6ActionE". STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Use kdesrc-build to build Kate and install it at ~/kde/usr/ 2. Execute "kdesrc-run kate" OBSERVED RESULT A symbol lookup error message will show, saying that katefilebrowserplugin.so tries to find the undefined symbol "_ZNK12KDirOperator6actionENS_6ActionE". The issue relates to commit 4cfb4123efc89b425dea176ccb5b58ce2f0ad5da. The issue can be solved by defining LD_LIBRARY_PATH. kdesrc-run uses prefix.sh from build trees to define environment variables. However, the LD_LIBRARY_PATH variable has been commented out with a comment stating that "LD_LIBRARY_PATH only needed if you are building without rpath." I checked the katefilebrowserplugin.so with "readelf -d", and the RUNPATH is pointing to the correct location. EXPECTED RESULT The plugin should find the proper KIO library even when the LD_LIBRARY_PATH is not set. Alternatively, LD_LIBRARY_PATH should be set in prefix.sh by default. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Fedora Linux 36 KDE Plasma Version: 5.25.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.99.0 Qt Version: 5.15.6 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Import the attached file using the "Import Subtitle File..." dialog to an empty project. 2. Open the attached file in a text editor. 3. Compare the generated subtitles with the contents of the attached file. OBSERVED RESULT Generated subtitles are missing text after commas. EXPECTED RESULT Generated subtitles include any text after a comma. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=461485 Bug ID: 461485 Summary: [Suggestion] Setting to treat the equal ( = ) key as plus ( + ) Classification: Applications Product: kcalc Version: 22.08.1 Platform: Kubuntu OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: ete...@alum.rit.edu Reporter: nm64+bugs.kde@pm.me Target Milestone: --- OBSERVED RESULT The equal ( = ) key behaves as 'equal' and there's no way to change this. EXPECTED RESULT The ability to use the equal ( = ) key as the plus ( + ) key without the need to hold shift. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Kubuntu 22.10 (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.25.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.98.0 Qt Version: 5.15.6 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION The user can already use the 'Enter' key to achieve the equal function and subtract ( - ) can be accessed without holding shift, yet add ( + ) is just as if not more commonly used than subtract but requires holding shift. Many other software that use plus and minus for various functions, such as changing zoom levels or changing volume levels, allows using the equal ( = ) key without the need to hold shift, so why shouldn't calculator software be the same, especially when the 'Enter' key already exists that doubles as the equal function? This would be particularly beneficial on keyboard that lack a NUMpad (typically laptops). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

I would argue when someone is trying to show/scroll through a certain application, the person is not interested in other windows, this is only confusing. Especially because in a fast workflow, it is not clear at first glance if there are other windows open. So the user expects something to happen and will see two different results. My suggestion is that using the scroll wheel on an application, should always only scroll through the actual application, if only one windows/instance is open, then just show that. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[plasmashell] [Bug 447717] plasmashell crashes when hovering or clicking items on the Panel due to "zwp_linux_buffer_params_v1.add" protocol error
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=447717 --- Comment #31 from Matt Fagnani --- Created attachment 153508 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=153508&action=edit valgrind log of running plasmashell --replace with Blur effect disabled Vlad, I reproduced three plasmashell crashes after disabling the Blur effect in System Settings in Plasma 5.26.2 on Wayland, with KF 5.99.0, Qt 5.15.7 in a Fedora Rawhide KDE Plasma live image Fedora-KDE-Live-x86_64-Rawhide-20221103.n.0.iso on bare metal. The second crash happened the first time I moved the cursor over the Firefox task manager icon. The third crash was when I was running plasmashell under valgrind and took a minute of moving the cursor over the task manager icons. It had errors like kf.plasma.quick: Couldn't create KWindowShadow for ToolTipDialog(0x38aa6070) wl_display@1: error 0: invalid object 145 The Wayland connection experienced a fatal error: Invalid argument The same sorts of invalid reads were shown in the attached valgrind log. The invalid reads might be enough to lead to the invalid object errors from kwin_wayland, or they might result in memory corruption leading to the crashes. I attached a WAYLAND_DEBUG=1 plasmashell --replace log for a previous crash at https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=461397#c1 though that one only had the last 1000 lines or so due to the default konsole line limit. [kde] [Bug 461450] Get rid of italic text for links
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=461450 Noah Davis changed: What|Removed |Added CC||noaha...@gmail.com --- Comment #8 from Noah Davis --- (In reply to Nate Graham from comment #4) > Digging a little, it seems like this was re-added to Dolphin 2 via Bug > 298218, after either breaking or being deliberately removed before that > (can't tell which). The explanation was "It's usual behaviour that symlinks > are shown in italic letters. That makes recognition a lot easier." > > This might have predated badging the icon with a link emblem. Even if not, > italig text for symlinks was apparently at least one user's expectation. The > more I look at these items, the more I come to agree that both italicizing > and also showing a link emblem is excessive visual noise for a > characteristic that is not super important to force the user to acknowledge. > But It's not a strong feeling, and it's quite possible this would result in > blowback and complaints. > > I'll submit the merge requests and see how other people feel about it. Keep > in mind it's quite possible that we won't end up merging them. It's easy to miss the link emblem when the icon size is small and if you're scanning filenames in a long list, you have a decent chance of missing the link emblem anyway. I don't think there's a lot we can do about either of those problems since there's only so much space when icons are small and the latter problem is solved by italicizing the text (if you know what italicizing means). Perhaps italicizing isn't the best way to communicate whether an item is a symlink (besides the icon), but unless we come up with a suitable alternative, we shouldn't remove it. I think whether or not an item is a symlink is important to a user's use of it if a user wants to copy/cut/paste/move a item because doing any of those can break a symlink. If the user mistakes the symlink for a normal file, manipulating it in any of those ways will also not do what they expect. It's worth noting that the example screenshot shows a symlink on the desktop. In that situation, you typically have large icons and less text contrast or busy backgrounds. This is ideal for seeing the link emblem on the icon, but kind of a worst case scenario for reading italicized text. If we are going to change anything, we should consider how things will appear on the desktop and how things will appear in a long list view with small icons. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

I was referred here from https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=450068 I am on Neon user edition. I just log in once a day to update and see if it got better. Problem started with plasma 5.26. Thursday the 27 October the computer one again worked. Then I was away for a week but it now keeps on working perfectly. Its a DP main screen that was problematic. Secondary screen connected by a HDMI to DVI cable worked. Nvidia 1070 card with 515.65.01 driver. I just updated with pkcon and discover. I am sorry that I can not contribute more information. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[khelpcenter] [Bug 461468] Crash when pressing particular sequence of function keys
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=461468 --- Comment #3 from Jack --- Settings/Configure Keyboard Shortcuts says F7 is "Toggle caret mode." I can't find any mention about khelpcenter having caret mode. Even searching the source files, the only mention I see of F7 is for Ctl-F7 "Present Windows of current application only" in the section on "Moving Around." I wonder if the system is getting confused because that key combination (just F7) doesn't actually map to anything in khelpcenter. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[neon] [Bug 461417] spice-vdagentd not autostarting due to "X-GNOME-Autostart-Phase" in desktop file; consider patching it out
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=461417 Nate Graham changed: What|Removed |Added Resolution|WAITINGFORINFO |--- Status|NEEDSINFO |CONFIRMED Summary|spice-vdagentd not running |spice-vdagentd not |at startup and cannot be|autostarting due to |enabled to do it|"X-GNOME-Autostart-Phase" ||in desktop file; consider ||patching it out Ever confirmed|0 |1 --- Comment #15 from Nate Graham --- Ah, so it's just that old bug in Systemd: https://github.com/systemd/systemd/issues/18791 Until Systemd fixes the bug, you can work around it by removing the line with "X-GNOME-Autostart-Phase" on it from the .desktop file of the autostart entry for the app, which are not relevant to KDE Plasma and can be harmlessly deleted. It looks like Fedora patched their package to do this, so users don't have to. Perhaps the Neon folks can do the same. Or maybe someone can submit a patch to systemd that fixes the bug. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kde] [Bug 461450] Get rid of italic text for links
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=461450 Nate Graham changed: What|Removed |Added See Also||https://bugs.kde.org/show_b ||ug.cgi?id=298218 --- Comment #4 from Nate Graham --- Digging a little, it seems like this was re-added to Dolphin 2 via Bug 298218, after either breaking or being deliberately removed before that (can't tell which). The explanation was "It's usual behaviour that symlinks are shown in italic letters. That makes recognition a lot easier." This might have predated badging the icon with a link emblem. Even if not, italig text for symlinks was apparently at least one user's expectation. The more I look at these items, the more I come to agree that both italicizing and also showing a link emblem is excessive visual noise for a characteristic that is not super important to force the user to acknowledge. But It's not a strong feeling, and it's quite possible this would result in blowback and complaints. I'll submit the merge requests and see how other people feel about it. Keep in mind it's quite possible that we won't end up merging them. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
