I doubt it worked the other way, can you test on VM and say precisely where it
worked?
If you set the key via "Alternative shortcut", there is nothing that could
enable shift+caps behavior. Probably the option in Advanced tab was just
already set there.

There's an "Alternative shortcut" and "Main shortcut".
The main shortcut let's you select from a list of possibilities, and selecting
caps lock there, makes the shift+caps lock to use caps lock(which is proper),
and caps lock to switch layout.

While when you set the capsLock in the Alternative shortcut you don't pick from
a list.

It's just that the functionality is proper with Main shortcut(planned
functionality), and isn't with Alternative shortcut(free form user selection)

When ungrouped, the Task Manager is showing specific windows, so it displays
their individual names. When grouped, it no longer shows windows but rather
apps, so it shows the app name. It looks like it's inappropriately showing the
executable name, rather than the pretty app name.

No, I didn't change anything about drivers/gpu settings, just updated packages
with dnf update and that's all...
1. KWIN_DRM_DEVICES="/dev/dri/card1:/dev/dri/card0" - not working, after reboot

2. Why 240hz on my second screen is working on KDE X11 and even on Gnome
Wayland ?? I don't get it... what's difference between Gnome Wayland and KDE

To perform the analysis or at least to collect some relevant information that
we can use to understand and to fix the problem, you'll need to install
Window's debuging tootls - https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=266248. Once
this is installed and you start labplot again, you should get a more actionable

Not just that; there's a whole chain of other MRs that are needed too. The work

will definitely want testing once it's in a more complete state, but I don't
think it's ready for casual testing just yet.

Your issue is 100% sure to be something else, as the original report is over
five years old and the code has changed completely. We track bug reports by
root cause, not symptoms, and unfortunately with multi-monitor issues, the same
set of symptoms can be triggerds by myrial root causes. Based on your
description, it sounds like the issue could be Bug 460341 if you have an NVIDIA
GPU.

If not, please do file a new bug report.

What I mean is before I was able to set it so caps-lock would only act as
switching layouts around.
Now it does both, switching caps-lock and acting as a switch layout switch.
I was able to then click shift+caps lock to only swap the caps lock state.

Are you really certain that you changed no GPU settings? Some NVidia driver
setting (performance mode, discrete-only, something in that direction) may
change the boot gpu tag, which KWin then picks up on after a reboot.

As a test, you can make KWin always pick the NVidia GPU for rendering by
putting
> KWIN_DRM_DEVICES="/dev/dri/card1:/dev/dri/card0"
into /etc/environment
As a downside, the GPU will never fully power down, but if you're plugged in
that might be a tradeoff worth it for you.

[kde] [Bug 462678] New: KDE Invent Continuous Integration falsely determines degradation of code quality

Bug ID: 462678
Summary: KDE Invent Continuous Integration falsely determines
degradation of code quality
Classification: I don't know
   Product: kde
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Other
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: unassigned-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: f.alexander.wi...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Part of the Continuous Integration steps that are run after each commit of a
merge request at https://invent.kde.org is the code quality check.

However, this check always finds fault with a decrease in code quality even in
files, which a particular merge request didn't even touch. This makes the check
basically worthless, since one cannot easily discern between actual issues
introduced by a commit and old ones.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Fork a repo at https://invent.kde.org
2. Make a small, non-breaking change
3. Submit a merge

OBSERVED RESULT
"Code quality degraded due to 489 new issues"

EXPECTED RESULT
No detected degradation of code quality

this menu where specific key combinations can be selected.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install neon.
2. Add more than 2 layouts.
3. Set caps-lock as the switch key for keyboard layouts.
4. Switching layout now enables the caps lock functionality, but it didn't in
the past or at least on arch linux.

OBSERVED RESULT
Switching a language now enables caps lock.

EXPECTED RESULT
Being able to set the caps lock behavior to only enable by combining it with a
shift key.

[frameworks-kio] [Bug 412163] Only check for required free space after asking the user whether or not to merge, and if merging, intelligently determine the space needed based on what needs to be merge

2022-12-05 Thread dft
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=412163

I would like to bring this up again and keep it simple with another use case.
You have a folder of 500GB and want to copy to a drive that has 480GB free.
Destination is ZFS or BTRFS with compression means it should EASILY be able to
handle it 500GB data. This is why I think going ahead it's even more important
for Dolphin to have an option to check if sufficient space is available or not.
Without this option it means Dolphin can not be used at all as a FM with
"modern" filesystems. Instead I have to open DC. It should have the option to
"copy anyway" even if Dolphin "thinks" there's not enough free space.

Bug ID: 462675
Summary: Dolphin becomes unusably slow while a file transfer is

Classification: Applications
   Product: dolphin
   Version: 22.08.3
  Platform: Neon

Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: sephiroth...@hotmail.it
CC: kfm-de...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Moving files with Dolphin makes it unbearably slow, so much so that it stops
responding to commands. This is true independently of the source and
destination: I have tried transferring files both locally (e.g. from SD card to
internal SSD, or from SSD to SSD) and on the network (to an NFS share) and the
result is the same. Dolphin just becomes really sluggish, even in doing basic
things such as scrolling up and down the list of files.
This behaviour wasn't present in 22.04, though I cannot say whether it was
introduced with a Frameworks update or with the 22.08 version.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Transfer files (e.g. cut-and-paste)

OBSERVED RESULT
Dolphin becomes incredibly slow.

EXPECTED RESULT
Dolphin keeps on behaving normally.

What happens if you start up a Konsole window, set the environment variable to
run in X11 like
export QT_QPA_PLATF0RM=xcb
and then run krdc from that window? That will let you have the rest of your
desktop using Wayland, but start up Xwayland (if it's not already running) and
run krdc in Xwayland.

It's been ages since it changed (5.25?) so it seems rather pointless.

2022-12-05 Thread Nate Graham
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=462331

Assuming you're talking about
https://mail.kde.org/pipermail/plasma-devel/2022-August/122758.html, that's a
case where intentionally braking compatibility was a calculated risk to
un-break KRunner completely in certain cases (there was no fallback if the
custom KRunner styling broke, as there is with the lock screen). I'm not aware
of any complaints about that change, probably because the ability to theme
KRunner was a rather hidden thing and most themes did not make use of it.
Whereas the ability to theme the lockscreen is much more commonly used in
themes.

Too late now though; I can send an email to the general community notifying
people that Plasma theme authors need to update their lockscreen code. Do we
have any documentation regarding the differences between the V1 and V2 APIs
that I can point them to?

The banner could perhaps be moved to the Issues list, rather than the New Issue

Sysadmin ticket at https://phabricator.kde.org/maniphest/task/edit/form/2/.

If course, if the banner is made so much more visible, it should probably be
toned down in visual weight and textual severity.

Well that's a shame. It's not ideal to knowingly breaking compatibility before
Plasma 6 without any external communication to theme developers or
acknowledgement in the UI when a theme is incompatible; this is the kind of
thing that we complain about the GNOME people doing. Let's try to do better in
the future.

In the Plasma Wayland session, when you drag a window containing QtQuick-based

factor, the window instantly adjusts itself to display properly according to
that screen’s scale factor, with no blurriness or pixelation. It even works
when a window is partially on one screen and partially on another! (David
Edmundson, Frameworks 5.101. Link 1 and link 2)

This seems like it's similar. I will test if (or when) I get the chance to
update to 5.101.
