Yep, same.

I can confirm that "Comment out line `dragIconSize: units.iconSizes.medium` in
`main.qml` of latte tasks applet" does at least get the tasks applet showing
again. Thanks for that.

MIDebugJob: don't leak the debug session if config is invalid

The constructor of a MI debug job creates a debug session. When the
configured launch executable or its arguments are invalid, MIDebugJob
doesn't call MIDebugSession::startDebugging() and finishes with an
error. The debug session is not destroyed and the Debug area remains
active in KDevelop then.

Calling MIDebugSession::stopDebugger() finishes the debug session and
lets DebugController destroy it. This function explicitly and correctly
handles stopping debugger when it is not started.

[plasmashell] [Bug 463659] Recurring plasmashell crash and restart

The button that disappears after the crash

I don't know if it's relevant, but the only difference I noted before and after
the crash, is that the little button to change the audio profile disappears
(see image). When the crash occurs, the button disappears. If I restart the
system, the button comes back until the next crash.
I can still change the audio profile from the Audio section in the "Settings",
but the quick-button in the image is not visible after the crash.

[kwin] [Bug 464582] New: NVIDIA completely freezing applications & desktop itself when VRAM is close to being filled

2023-01-20 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=464582

Bug ID: 464582
Summary: NVIDIA completely freezing applications & desktop
itself when VRAM is close to being filled
Classification: Plasma
   Product: kwin
   Version: 5.26.90
  Platform: Archlinux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: kodatar...@yahoo.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
***
Whenever the VRAM is close to being full(example: you are playing a high
demanding title which almost always uses 99% of the VRAM 7955MB out of 8192MB)
other applications like discord/spotify/web browser(firefox/chromium/chrome)
would just completely hang, frozen window until you close and re-open it again.
At least on NVIDIA gpu.
***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Play a very demanding title which almost always goes on to fill your
VRAM(Ready Or Not comes to mind), where it stays 99% being filled and have
discord/web browser or any client in general opened on your second monitor or
in the background.

OBSERVED RESULT
The application has completely frozen.

EXPECTED RESULT
To work just fine without freezing as on other desktop environments(tested
Gnome, Cinnamon and Mate).

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: EndeavourOS
KDE Plasma Version: 5.26.90
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.102.0
Qt Version: 5.15.8
Kernel Version: 6.1.7-273-tkg-pds (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland
Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D 8-Core Processor
Memory: 31,3 GiB of RAM
Graphics Processor: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070/PCIe/SSE2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Just wanted to write down that this bug is observed under both X11 and Wayland,
with wayland making the entire session unresponsive until you close out the
game/app which consumes so much VRAM.
In addition this seems to happen only with NVIDIA, as I am unable to reproduce
it with AMD card.
It has been happening for quite sometime now, which I thought it was an issue
that the VRAM can't take it, however after trying other Desktop Environments it
seems the problem lies with KDE Plasma(X11/Wayland).

NOTE: This issue isn't limited to 5.26.90, I am only reporting it just now, but
it has been present in all versions, so it isn't a 5.27 Beta bug.

[plasma-nm] [Bug 464214] Some of the Wireless network details are wrong

2023-01-20 Thread John
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=464214

OK, seeing that the connection speed seems to match the "Bit Rate", I tried to
find out if I can change either the bit rate or the transmission power manually
to see if the bit rate in Network Manager changes.

The defaults for the active connection can be seen with this command:

sudo iwconfig wlan0

Which in my case gives:

Bit Rate=6 Mbit/s

Tx-Power=30 dBm

It seems that changing the bit rate is impossible no matter why I try and this
answer here seems to confirm that changing the bit rate on a Qualcomm atheros
chipset, like I have, even though it's not exactly the same mode, it's
impossible:

https://superuser.com/a/1271812

But doing the following commands:

sudo ifconfig wlan0 down
sudo iwconfig wlan0 txpower 20
sudo ifconfig wlan0 up
Then checking the that transmission power changed
sudo iwconfig wlan0

And repeat them, setting at each repeat the tx power to 15, 10, 5 and finally
to 1 worked!

While the receive rate in WaveMon shows even 433.3 Mb/s (the maximum for my
access point) and less, the transmission rate doesn't budge from the 6 Mbit/s
even though the different power levels were used and confirmed by both iwconfig
and wavemon commands.

The guy in the link above fixed it by upgrading the access point's firmware to
the latest version, but mine it's already at the latest version and sow it's
the firmware for my wireless adapter in my laptop that Debian uses.

I have created this PR against the com.klinker.android library, which contains
the offending code: https://github.com/klinker41/android-smsmms/pull/193

I have tested this change locally: Next step, figure out how to package and

I think it might be easier to reproduce single thread bottleneck issue with CPU
frequency cap, which is easier to adjust on Windows 10.
Search "Edit Power Plan" and enter -> Change advanced power setting -> find
"Processor power management" -> change the "Maximum processor state" to lower
than 100% and apply, the cpu frequency will be capped at "base-clock * x%"

preferences. Akonadi crashed after about the third login.

Kwin draws thin window border, overriding systemsettings breeze options. Is
this a regression, or intended change?
Either way, there's a dedicated setting in breeze for it, and it should be
respected. Suspending kwin removes the border.

[pulseaudio-qt] [Bug 464577] New: While watching YouTube music videos in Firefox, the audio volume level in the Audio Volume System Tray Applet changes to random values when a new video starts

2023-01-20 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=464577

Bug ID: 464577
Summary: While watching YouTube music videos in Firefox, the
audio volume level in the Audio Volume System Tray
Applet changes to random values when a new video
starts
Classification: Plasma
   Product: pulseaudio-qt
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Neon
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: nicolas.fe...@gmx.de
  Reporter: bug.tester...@proton.me
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
While watching YouTube music videos in Firefox, the audio volume level in the
Audio Volume System Tray Applet changes to random values when a new video
starts.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Firefox.
2. Visit YouTube.
3. Start playing a music video.
4. Open the Audio Volume System Tray Icon (Applet? Plasmoid? Widget? - Not sure
of the actual name of this thing).
5. Click on the Applications Tab.
6. Click on the Keep Open/Pin Button (the thumbtack/pushpin icon in the top
right corner of the applet window) so the Audio Volume Applet stays open.
7. Click the next video button on the YouTube Video Player and let the video
play for a few seconds.
8. Observe the volume level percentage.
9. Repeat steps 7 & 8 several times and notice the volume level percentage
changes to a different random value almost every time you skip to the next
video or the video changes on its own.

OBSERVED RESULT
When watching music videos on YouTube in Firefox, the volume level percentage
changes to a different random volume level percentage on almost every
change/skip to the next video and the change is visible in the Audio Volume
System Tray Applet and also the change is auditorially (Actually hearing the
music through your computer speakers with your ears) noticeable when 1 music
video is playing and you manually increase the volume level percentage slider
up to 100% in the Audio Volume System Tray Applet and then either skip to the
next video or let the existing video finish playing and auto play the next
video (when the next video starts, visually notice the change in the volume
level percentage and also notice the difference in audio volume level by
listening with your ears.)

EXPECTED RESULT
The audio volume level does not change at all and remains at what it was set to
before. (Playing music videos on YouTube should not affect the volume level.)

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: KDE Neon Testing Edition (ISO Dated: Jan. 19th, 2023)
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.26.90
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.102.0
Qt Version: 5.15.8

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This problem also occurs on my KDE Arch Linux installation (KDE Plasma 5.26.5
Stable - KDE Frameworks 5.102 - Qt 5.15.8) on my computer. I don't believe this
problem is Linux Distro specific.

The YouTube Video Player's volume never changes and is always at 100% by
default.

Not fixed. Still happening to me in 2023 on fresh install of KDE on Ubuntu
22.04.
Cannot type into launcher, which almost completely defeats its purpose.
Weirdly, once you select a different menu item , the first keystroke gets
through, and then the launcher stops accepting keyboard input again.
Then when you move mouse to a different menu item, you can type a single
character again.

[frameworks-kguiaddons] [Bug 464571] New: Symbols from libwayland-server are published in the library’s ABI

2023-01-20 Thread Aurélien COUDERC
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=464571

Bug ID: 464571
Summary: Symbols from libwayland-server are published in the
library’s ABI
Classification: Frameworks and Libraries
   Product: frameworks-kguiaddons
   Version: 5.102.0
  Platform: Debian unstable
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdelibs-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: couc...@debian.org
  Target Milestone: ---

Dear upstream,

while packaging kguiaddons 5.102 for Debian I noticed the following new symbols
:
 wl_buffer_interface@Base 5.102.0
 wl_callback_interface@Base 5.102.0
 wl_compositor_interface@Base 5.102.0
 wl_data_device_interface@Base 5.102.0
 wl_data_device_manager_interface@Base 5.102.0
 wl_data_offer_interface@Base 5.102.0
 wl_data_source_interface@Base 5.102.0
 wl_display_interface@Base 5.102.0
 wl_keyboard_interface@Base 5.102.0
 wl_output_interface@Base 5.102.0
 wl_pointer_interface@Base 5.102.0
 wl_region_interface@Base 5.102.0
 wl_registry_interface@Base 5.102.0
 wl_seat_interface@Base 5.102.0
 wl_shell_interface@Base 5.102.0
 wl_shell_surface_interface@Base 5.102.0
 wl_shm_interface@Base 5.102.0
 wl_shm_pool_interface@Base 5.102.0
 wl_subcompositor_interface@Base 5.102.0
 wl_subsurface_interface@Base 5.102.0
 wl_surface_interface@Base 5.102.0
 wl_touch_interface@Base 5.102.0

These symbols are also part of libwayland-server0 so I doubt they should be
part of kguiaddons library.
Am I missing something ?
Is there a way to remove them ?

Full build log here :

Status: REPORTED

SUMMARY
During Plasma sessions based on Wayland the system suddenly freezes and becomes
completely unresponsive for about 20 to 30 seconds after which it *usually*
becomes responsive again while in other cases I need to force a reboot. It only
happens when using Wayland, X11 sessions doesn't seem to suffer from the same
problem. Moreover, it actually does not cause a crash, it just freezes.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
I really don't have a way to reproduce the issue since it happen pretty
randomly and in an independent way with respect to what I'm doing.

The interface becomes completely unresponsive.

I'm on a Framework Laptop with Intel i7 12th Gen. I have a dual monitor setup
with a Dell D300 Docking Station so I have installed DisplayLink drivers to
handle the two monitors. I think it was worth mentioning since this is the
reason why I'm using Wayland instead of X11 because I needed to set two
different scaling for the laptop display and the two other monitors. However,
the issue come up also when using the laptop without external monitors.

I only use jpeg files (may be 15 files), no raw. I had permissions problem on
some files, it's solved now.
Some issue with Opencv...

[kasts] [Bug 458331] Bugs in Windows 7z package

2023-01-20 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=458331

Some comments regarding the latest state of things on windows:

> 1. The Storage option in the Settings App is broken. It leads to an empty
> screen as shown in attached screenshot.

This is a qt and kde xdg portal issue: it either works on windows or on flatpak
linux. Since we have a lot more users using flatpak, I'm afraid this doesn't
work on windows right now. I'm trying to find the right place to file a bug
report on the component causing the issue.

> 2. Discover tab does not load any suggestions.

Tested this today; seems to work. If you type something and press enter or the
search button, you should get results.

> 3. Change in voice when playback speed is increased. No issues when played
> at normal speed.
> I tried below podcast at 1.25 times the speed.
> https://7goodminutes.com/podcast/how-to-be-unstoppable
> 4. The playback speed by default is showing up as zero. Please refer to
> attached screenshot.

Both issues are now solved with a major audio backend update. The backend even
allows streaming.

> 5. The screenshot of the channel on the playback screen can be a little
> centered. Please refer to attached screenshot.

This is a design decision: on KDE plasma the header bar blends in with the top
window bar so it becomes one surface of the same colour. I agree it doesn't
look that nice on windows. I'm working on a revamp of the header controls
which would look everywhere. It should be in the next release.

> Features Wishlist - Would be nice to have.
> Please note this is just my personal opinion and not a demand for feature. I
> am appreciative that Free/KDE software is even available for windows users.

Is available since 22.11 (or 22.09, I forgot :) )

> 2. The played episodes can be greyed out a little to differentiate from the
> unplayed ones. This can work along side the played label on the

The original Kasts application had this, but I got a lot of negative feedback
for that. People said that the lists looked "washed out". But I kind of agree
with you on this one.

> 3. Ability to set below options at global level.
> 3.1. Default Playback speed.
> 3.2. Ability to increase playback speed in scale of 0.1 instead of 0.25.
>Personal Note - Playback speed at 1.3 or 1.4 is a sweetspot

On the todo list. There's even a branch that has it half-implemented. Will
happen in the future.

> 3.3. Default Seek timer - Instead of 10 seconds default.

It's been on my list for quite a long time. It's not even that hard to
implement. It will happen at some point in the near future.

> 3.4. Default Sleep timer.

Kasts will remember your last setting.

> 4. Option to seek forward and backward using keyboard.

This already works with media keys. I'm not sure which keys to bind it to on a
regular keyboard though. The arrows are already used for navigation.

> 5. Ability to sort queue based on podcast title and podcast duration.

A search feature is on the todo list.

> 6. Dark Mode.

Is already there for linux. I have no clue how to do this for windows, though.

> 7. In-Place Update.

Also not sure what to do. I'm reusing the KDE windows build infrastructure. I
don't any of the details of the flow. :-)

> 8. Personal observation - Not applicable for all. Please ignore if not

The settings have been completely revamped using a new framework. So that
should solve the issues you've mentioned.

Thanks! Very much appreciated.

The problem occurs when loading a thumbnail from ""Iptc.Application2.Preview"
or ""Xmp.digiKam.Preview". Either you have images with broken preview data
(then we need the corresponding image) or your KImageFormat plugins are broken.

Your bug report has nothing to do with face detection. When creating
thumbnails, the KImageFormats plugins are probably used for RAW files. We need
the debug log to see what type of file is being loaded.

Hmm, why are you loading RAW files with KImageFormat plugins? I know from
Gwenview bug reports that RAW loading is broken there at the moment. We have
our own loader for RAW files. Why is this not used by you?

Please use a JPEG with a person for the OpenCV test, open the preview, use the
right mouse button context menu and use the function face detection.

[digikam] [Bug 393382] Add documentation section about the BQM custom shell scripts tool.

2023-01-20 Thread Maik Qualmann
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=393382

Two things, you already wrote it, but maybe a little more clearly, that a new
file is always expected on $OUTPUT. So with script programs that do not create
a new file (e.g. changing metadata) you must first copy $INPUT to $OUTPUT with
a command appropriate to the operating system and then make the changes to
$OUTPUT.

On Windows, it's not a Batch script that we're running. I don't know any way
how to run a script with cmd.exe. If you know one, we can change it. Powershell
can probably do it.

We split the digiKam script lines and join them with " && " and start the
cmd.exe with the /C option.

Before:
command1
command2
command3

After:
cmd.exe /C command1 && command2 && command3

Therefore, under Windows, the script should not contain any blank lines or
comment lines.

Forgot to mention that restarting plasmashell fixes the issue.
