This was actually caused by a change in kernel 3.12.

Support for newer kernels has finally been added now so this should work again
in kinfocenter 5.13:

See https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1013345#c4 .

The code looked for smbd only in the user's path, but openSUSE installs it to
/usr/sbin/ which is normally not in a (non-root) user's PATH so it wasn't found
even if installed.

Should be fixed since KDE Applications 16.04.2:
https://cgit.kde.org/kdenetwork-filesharing.git/commit/?h=Applications/16.04&id=fb48a2e997eb76ff2eeff1e69c2db35478c2f0c0

OS: macOS
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Metadata-Exif
  Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org

SUMMARY

When selecting the "Properties" panel for an image, in the "Item Properties"
section, several fields such as dimensions and aspect ratio are marked as
Unknown.
In the FAQ I read that the "Item Properties" section is handled by exif2.
ExifTool however can read the requested properties. Would it be possible to
change from exif2 to ExifTool to retrieve the unknown item properties?

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Import image (in my case iPhone 13)
2. Select properties in right sidebar
3. Find unknown item properties

OBSERVED RESULT

Item properties are unknown.

EXPECTED RESULT

Item properties should be displayed correctly when using ExifTool instead of
exif2.

[digikam] [Bug 465314] New: Possibility to suspend filters

2023-02-05 Thread Beto Kella
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=465314

Bug ID: 465314
   Summary: Possibility to suspend filters
Classification: Applications
   Product: digikam
   Version: 7.9.0
  Platform: Other
OS: Other
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Albums-Filters
  Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: betoke...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
On the bottom of the main window, we have 2 icons connected to filtering:
"Reset all active filters" (the trash can) and "Open filters settings panel".
We believe having a 3rd "Suspend all active filters" icon would be very
beneficial

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Need to work on pictures missing geographical coordinates (just my example)
2. Setup a complex filtering in the filters tab including tags and people
filters
3. Need to quickly check non-filtered images to figure out nearby coordinates
(or whatever other reason)
4. Click on "Reset all active filters" to be able to see the pictures you need
5. Copy the coordinates

OBSERVED RESULT
Resume your work on the filtered images. Now you need to *reconfigre your
complex filters* all over again. This repeats ad nauseam until you are done
with your work

EXPECTED RESULT
Being able to "suspend all filters", find your image/coordinates and just
reapply the filters when needed w/o having to reconfigure every time

The sample image has no metadata, but all information is displayed, i.e. aspect
ratio, etc. An IPhone 13 test sample from the web also shows all camera-related
information.
I suspect your image was not correctly captured by the Import Scanner, please
re-read the metadata from the image, Menu-> Items-> Reread Metadata from Image.

Thanks for the hint! Re-reading the metadata did the trick for me. I typically
sort my collections by year and then add items for a new year with the "add
collection" functionality from the settings menu. I am not sure why metadata is
not read correctly in the first place here.

Anyways thanks for your quick response and for working on this really helpful
tool!

Best, Alex

Thanks for fast feedback.

I've grouped the face tag hierarchy like this:
People / Family / Foo bar
People / Friends / John

Might this hierarchy structure breaks anything, as you state "Face tags have no
hierarchy in principle"?
If this is the case, then digiKam should forbid it.
If this is not the case, and just the toggle-auto parents feature does not work
by design, ok for me to close the issue.

[kwin] [Bug 465317] New: Screens KCM claims that a screen is mirrored when it's not, and there's no way to change it

2023-02-05 Thread Ilya Bizyaev
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=465317

Bug ID: 465317
   Summary: Screens KCM claims that a screen is mirrored when it's
not, and there's no way to change it
Classification: Plasma
   Product: kwin
   Version: 5.26.90
  Platform: openSUSE
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: multi-screen
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: bizy...@zoho.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 155958
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=155958&action=edit
Screenshot

SUMMARY

The laptop is attached to a projector, which behaves as if the virtual
placement of it is to the right from the other screens. It even looks like the
KCM reserves some space to show it in that location in the scheme. However, it
is instead only displayed as a "mirroring" square on top of another screen
(it's not actually mirroring). I thought I could try disabling and re-enabling
mirroring, but there's no option to do so.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Connect a projector
2. Observe the above

[dolphin] [Bug 413659] Option "Open folders during drag operations" has no effect on folders panel

--- Comment #7 from Werner Lehmann  ---
guimarcalsilva, I am changing status to REPORTED as per your suggestion because
on Dolphin 22.12.2, currently on Fedora 37, the issue is reproducible
unchanged. I am not sure which additional information I could provide over the
issue description. I already tried to keep it as succinct as possible.

However, I did the next best thing and looked at the Dolphin source code on
Github. The navigation option is bound to GeneralSettings::autoExpandFolders().
It affects two things:

1. The auto-activation delay in views/dolphinview.cpp:
const int delay = GeneralSettings::autoExpandFolders() ? 750 : -1;
m_container->controller()->setAutoActivationDelay(delay);

2. Same thing in panels/places/placespanel.cpp:
if (GeneralSettings::autoExpandFolders()) {
setDragAutoActivationDelay(750);
} else {
setDragAutoActivationDelay(0);
}

And that's it for references to this option. Note how it uses -1 versus 0
between both code locations. Not sure if that is intended. On the other hand,
panels/folders/folderspanel.cpp has this hardcoded:
m_controller->setAutoActivationDelay(750);

So there you have it. The folders pane does not respect this setting as far as
I can tell.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=465269

--- Comment #2 from Marco Mattiolo  ---
Hi David, thank you for your answer. I think you're getting to the point here,
as this looks to be Debian-specific issue, I've not heard of this by anyone
else using other distros.

Looking at the upload dates, layer-shell-qt seems to have been pushed to Debian
sid repo [1] on January,23rd AFTER both qtwayland-opensource-src [2] and
qtbase-opensource-src [3], both on January,13th. As layer-shell-qt was uploaded
as source-only, it means it was built in Debian infrastructure on Jan,23rd
using at-that-time up-to-date Qt dependencies.

But you have a good point that it has to be some rebuilding missing in Debian,
then I'm going to rebuild layer-shell-qt myself to check this. Any further
relevant package worth rebuilding?

(1) Sealand *is* an existing country (
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Principality_of_Sealand )
(2) New countries may be created over time, and the software should not need an
update to use them.
(3) Countries not well recognized or has controversial states exist. People may
want to use that name to respect the views of people living there. In some
cases, they are oppressed people who need to get their voice heard.
(4) Having a hardcoded list for no reason is not reasonable.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=465321

Bug ID: 465321
   Summary: Bring back the "Fill" and "100%" buttons on the status
bar
Classification: Applications
   Product: gwenview
   Version: 22.12.2
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR

Gwenview statusbar

SUMMARY

Gwenview 21.08 introduced a background color switching widget that replaced
buttons for switching between zoom levels on the status bar. Later, due to its
uselessness, this widget was removed and the "Fit" button was returned back to
the status bar. IMO, it would be great to complete the cycle and bring the
"Fill" and "100%" buttons back to the status bar, as they are just as important
as the "Fit" button.

--- Comment #10 from Nicolas Fella  ---
The problem is we have an Exec line like "Exec='solaar --window=hide'". Because
of the = it gets parsed as an environment variable and stripped away, leaving
an empty command, which causes the crash

--- Comment #3 from Maik Qualmann  ---
We have discussed this issue with users in the past, whether we only allow a
flat list of face tags according to the standard. However, the face tags can be
better managed in a hierarchical list.

As said, in the face metadata only the end name of the tag path can be stored
along with the face rectangle. In the normal tag metadata we store the full
path. If you also want all parent tags to be tagged visible, you have to do
this in a second step.
