Because there is no descriptive information in the record, I don't know if it
was repeatedly mounted, but there are probably duplicate records because these
records are growing rapidly.

I placed a hard drive in the CD location and divided it into several zones.
Every time the system boots and logs in, there will be some records without
descriptive information. Due to the fact that there is no pagination here, when
the data volume is too large, the page loads very slowly and almost cannot be
accessed. Please refer to the attachment I passed on.

[kde] [Bug 468488] New: NVIDIA driver cannot boot after kernel upgrade. Nouveau works.

2023-04-13 Thread Torge Rosendahl
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=468488

Bug ID: 468488
Summary: NVIDIA driver cannot boot after kernel upgrade.
Nouveau works.
Classification: I don't know
   Product: kde
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Kubuntu
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: critical
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: unassigned-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: torge.rosend...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
I am running Kubuntu 22.10, everything up to date. As soon as I install any
(proprietary) nvidia driver, I cannot boot into a graphical system anymore.

SYSTEM INFO
Kubuntu 22.10
Kernel 5.19.0-1021-lowlatency
GPU: GeForce GTX 1660
DE: Plasma 5.25.5 (X11)

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
When I boot normally, using the nouveau driver, everything works. That is,
except for games that apparently require the proprietary driver.
As soon as I install any nvidia driver (I tried nvidia-driver-525 and -515), I
can't boot into the desktop. I am thrown into the boot screen with a message
saying

nvidia-gpu :06:00.3: i2c timeout error e000

This however seems (according to other posts I've seen) not to be the source of
the problem. Iirc, I have seen this screen a couple of times before, but then
the DE still loaded.

REASON FOR BREAK: The system started to behave this way when I installed a
kernel upgrade some time ago. On the reboot after that, my system did not boot.
I "solved" it by opening tty (Ctrl+Alt+F2) and uninstalling the nvidia packages
from there. I cannot tell for sure, but I might have accidentally rebooted my
PC before all the kernel upgrades succeeded, I don't remember.

I have so far always been able to get back to the current semi-functional state
without an nvidia driver by uninstalling all nvidia-related packages through
tty.

ATTEMPTED SOLUTION(S)

I have tried different ways to install the driver, including apt and
ubuntu-drivers. The kubuntu-driver-manager utility does not allow me to select
a driver for some reason, it prints python errors to the terminal, but that's
probably a different issue.

All tools report the same driver versions, e.g. for nvidia-driver-525: VERSION
525.105.17-0ubuntu0.22.10.1

I have currently no packages matching *nvidia* installed (I did apt purge) . My
windows dualboot reports that the GPU works as expected.

I tried apt --reinstalling the linux-headers and then install the driver,
didn't change anything.

FURTHER IDEAS

Are there any ways I can easily get back to a previous kernel to try if that's
the issue?

Does it make a difference through which system tool I install the driver? (apt
/ ubuntu-drivers / kubuntu-driver-manager [broken!])

Should I try installing the driver through the NVIDIA homepage? The version
code is the same (525.105.17)

1. Launch Kate or Kwrite
2. Type some text you wish to print.
3. Click the File menu

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

I don't know when exactly this option diapered, but it's not there on my new
laptop I installed Neon on last week, either. Printing works from other KDE
components such as Kmail, Okular and Plan.

I'm attaching a screenshot of the Kate File menu. KWrite's looks the same.

I have been experiencing this exact same issue under X11 since I upgraded my
KDE neon laptop to Plasma 5.27. Never happened under 5.26, but it's happening
almost every day. It seems to trigger after a long period of time on its own,
without any user interaction. I can be away from my computer for awhile and
come back and find that it appears to be dead except for a movable cursor.

Disabling the compositor with Shift+Alt+F12 is what gets my session usable
again, but the Plasma panels are non-responsive though I see that plasmashell
is still running with htop.

I've been trying to find a pattern for what causes it, and the I've noticed
that plasma-systemmonitor is the only program that seems to be in an
unresponsive state when it happens and needs to be forcibly killed.
Correlation? Maybe.

I was thinking it was some byproduct of the OpenGL drivers, so I installed the
Obiaf PPA to get the latest Mesa, but there was no change.

Since this is such an odd bug, I don't even know how to describe it to file it
as a bug.

[plasmashell] [Bug 468356] Panel Visibility "Auto-Hide" Forces Panel to Top (as though an application is needing attention)

2023-04-13 Thread Nick Gaulke
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=468356

I took these steps:

1) Exported the Window Rules
2) Deleted both of the rules
3) Set the Visibility for both Panels to "Auto Hide"

I tested both Panels and the bug was still present.

4) Reboot

After logging back in after rebooting, the bug was still present. I double
checked the Visibility of both panels to ensure they were still set to "Auto
Hide", and they were.

I have since imported the Window Rules and switched the panels back to "Windows
Can Cover".

With that commit applied, Ctrl+PgUp/PgDn changes the visually selected room in
the sidebar, but the main view does not update. This is accompanied by an error
printed to the console:

qrc:/RoomList/Page.qml:70: TypeError: Cannot call method 'trigger' of null

Clicking on sidebar list items still works to switch rooms.

Reverting that commit fixes the issue.

Not exactly ...
for instance, with 3 devices :
#1 is android, connected to internet via LTE, and sharing his connection via
wifi access point.
#2 another android, connected via #1's acces point
#3 a compter, also connected via #1's acces point

#2 and #3 are "kdeconnected" because connected to the same WIFI spot
#1 is not kdeconnected

I understand #1 cannot connect because his wifi is "not available" (used for
sharing connection) while he receive his connection by LTE.
Not very suprised off that, just would be nice to bypass and kdeshare through
wifi access point.
I have no idea if it is tricky or trivial do do !

Alright, so i think i've found what caused this problem in my case. I'm on
Nobara Linux 37 (Plasma) with an Nvidia GPU.
I was having the KDE panel always freeze after a certain amount of time as well
as the steam client/games becoming unresponsive and crashing also. The solution
posted here seems to have fixed it for me

[kmplot] [Bug 426025] kmplot crashed with any implicit functions include tangent

2023-04-13 Thread Dave Gilbert
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=426025

I think I kind of understand what's going on, but not 100% and hmm.

void View::drawImplicit(Function *function, QPainter *painter)
{

QList singular;
...
for (const QPointF  : qAsConst(singular)) {
...
for (double t : qAsConst(roots)) {
double x = point.x() + epsilon * lcos(t);
double y = point.y() + epsilon * lsin(t);
drawImplicitInSquare(plot, painter, x, y, {}, );
}

so, 'singular' - which I think is a list being walked in the outer for, gets
modified by 'drawImplicitInSquare' in a corner case - which I think is the
fact tan is not-contiguous.

I think turning that loop into a QMutableListIterator might work.

[kate] [Bug 468484] New: request: spellchecking to be HTML aware

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=468484

Bug ID: 468484
Summary: request: spellchecking to be HTML aware
Classification: Applications
   Product: kate
   Version: 22.12.3
  Platform: Ubuntu
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kwrite-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: k...@richardneill.org
  Target Milestone: ---

When writing an HTML or PHP page, it would be great if the Spellchecker would
check the English language bits, but not complain about the tags and
class-names, and should be entity-aware.

So for example:
greyelephant
will flag up "h2" and "nbsp" as wrong words.
whereas I think it should only check the words "grey" and "elephant".

Incidentally, I saw that bug #321593 is considered too complex to implement,
but perhaps we could at least handle the (relatively) common case of web
programming, and get the low-hanging-fruit, teaching it to ignore <[^>]+>
and   &[:alnum:]+;

Thanks :-)

UPDATE 2 : Just noticed that the 3rd monitor resolution was automatically set
to 1080i instead of 1080p. The only way I could resolve this was to change to
another resolution, apply it, accept it, then putting it back to 1920x1080 to
recoved the 1080p resolution.

[valgrind] [Bug 434057] Add stdio mode to valgrind's gdbserver

commit 0432ce486d61f84f6fcbeab0d812bb1f61c57561
Author: Alexandra Petlanova Hajkova
Date: Thu Mar 3 04:46:03 2022 -0500

vgdb: implement the extended-remote protocol

Executing vgdb --multi makes vgdb talk the gdb extended-remote
protocol. This means that the gdb run command is supported and
vgdb will start up the program under valgrind. Which means you
don't need to run gdb and valgrind from different terminals.
Also vgdb keeps being connected to gdb after valgrind exits. So
you can easily rerun the program with the same breakpoints in
place.

vgdb now implements a minimal gdbserver that just recognizes
a few extended-remote protocol packets. Once it starts up valgrind
it sets up noack and qsupported then it will forward packets
between gdb and valgrind gdbserver. After valgrind shutsdown it
resumes handling gdb packets itself.

I'm experiencing the same issue after updating to version 5.26.5

I've attached the kscreen-doctor outputs for before and after pluging the 3rd
monitor (2nd external)

In the KDE Settings -> Display Configuration, while my 2nd external is plugged
in, the messages "An ouput has been removed. Settings have been reloaded." and
"A new output has been added. Settings have been reloaded" appear few seconds
each in a never ending loop.

3rd monitor works and mirrors the main monitor when in raw console/shell mode.

the phone with slightly better results...but serious problems still remain.
The phone and computer connected, but all the words are gibberish --words are
missing letters. I also discovered that if I try to edit the computer name,
then KDE only detects about half the keys on my keyboard. I want this to work
so that I can send SMS messages from my Windows 10pro laptop. Is that possible.
Currently, i do not see that function is available

The desktop environment hangs momentarily, then blacks out and returns to login
screen.
Upon logging again all apps had closed and login scripts ran, as if after a
reboot.
Bug persists between reboots and clean app install.

Bug ID: 468483
Summary: Vector point handles jump when you edit them
Classification: Applications
   Product: krita
   Version: 5.1.4
  Platform: Android
OS: Android 13.x
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Tools/Vector

Use handles to edit

SUMMARY
After creating a Vector layer, then using bezier tool, then Shape Edit Tool, I
selected a point to edit. When I move the handles, they sometimes jump. I know
this isn’t supposed to happen.

I’m on a Samsung S7 tablet running Android 13 and using Krita 5.1.5 (from the
Google Play Store)

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Make a shape using the bezier tool
2. Edit the curve points by using the point's handles
3. The handles jump as you're trying to move them

OBSERVED RESULT
The handles jump as you're trying to move them.

EXPECTED RESULT
Handles should remain steady

[plasmashell] [Bug 467564] With only a single icon shown, icon sizing heuristics differ from those of other Panel widgets

2023-04-13 Thread Adam Fontenot
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=467564

Since my bug was closed as a dupe of this, let me add an important addendum.
The sizing issues not only affect the visible size of the icon, they also
affect the click target size of the widget. In some cases, the click target
will not include the top (or bottom?) edge of the widget, leading to failed
clicks.

Importantly, the issues *do not* coincide. For instance:

 * panel width 26: tiny icon, full size click target
 * panel width 27: full size icon, small click target (!)
 * panel width 28: full size icon, full size click target

I actually was not able to find a case (with brief testing) where a setting
yielded both a tiny icon and a small click target. This is surprising, but I
assume the issues are probably still related anyway. (If not, please reopen
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=468475).

When switching off, the containments are switched again, i.e., when I did not
correct the layout it is correct again after switching off the third monitor,
but when I corrected it, it then gets incorrect.
In the end it switches the containmeints of the two monitors when the third one

If your global scale is 100%, then 96 DPI is expected for GTK apps.

> Why plasma & all KDE applications run with DPI 192?
That's not expected if you've set your global scale to 100%. Can you attach
your ~/.config/kcmfonts file and your ~/.config/kdeglobals file after scrubbing
it of personally-identifying information?

Do you by any chance have an ~/.Xsession file that overrides the DPI in it?
