Actually I just realized the right screen is marked as duplicated, so I guess
that's where that screen is? That isn't in anyway clear though if you just
select the screen from the dropdown. Also I'm unsure how to get it detached
from that other screen. Screen priorities seems to do nothing

This is going to be really hard to prevent; once krita crashes and gets in an
infinite loop, we cannot control what happens anymore. The only way around it
would be to fix the actual issue, and for that we need access to (the relevant
part of) the log file.

[digikam] [Bug 459163] Geolocation Editor difficult to use

2023-06-06 Thread Maik Qualmann
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=459163

Well, the actual map view comes from the program Marble, which is quite well
known in the Linux world. Unfortunately, the development is somewhat dormant at
the moment.
The context menu above the map also comes from Marble here. We disabled it a
long time ago, but users wanted us to enable it again to be able to measure
distances etc. The compass can be disabled if they don't want it, like any
other overlay item that could be enabled. The Geo:Url function works, it copies
the location to the Clipboard. This Geo:Url is understood by the digiKam
"paste" function as well as by other programs that support this format.

2023-06-06 Thread Maik Qualmann
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=470566

Your log doesn't show any errors. However, it seems that you have not activated
the metadata option "Rescan file when files are modified". This is important in
your case, however, so that a changed file is completely rescanned. This also
works with the ExifTool "-P" option, since the file size is always changing.

Then they probably pressed F5. And this is where many people have a
misunderstanding. The "F5" function would find new items and always recreates
all thumbnails. However, it does not update changed files.
To re-read changed files Menu::Album->Reread Metadata From Files - or -
Menu::Item->Reread Metadata From File.

That's good. One step along the way...

> ... But it does seem to index the full partitions
> again and again. Looks like I am affected from both problems, the memory
> limit and the btrfs issue ...
There is a draft Merge Request here:

https://invent.kde.org/frameworks/baloo/-/merge_requests/131

That proposes a "lightweight" fix, it's nice in that it would not force a purge
and reindex (the internal ID's that baloo uses are still 32 bit) but it isn't a
comprehensive solution.

> ... Don’t KDE devs use modern file systems? ...
I'm not sure I'm the right person to answer that one :-) I imagine though, if
you are developing, you want a completely stable, reliable base system. No
extra unknowns. You would then test in different environments.

What interesting is that earlier the BTRFS issue initially caught mostly
OpenSUSE users, that system set up a lot of subvolumes and ran into trouble.
Fedora, also with BTRFS, only rarely showed problems historically but that's
changed with recent releases.

[frameworks-qqc2-desktop-style] [Bug 470729] New: KF6-based QML apps throw MobileCursor errors

2023-06-06 Thread Nate Graham
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=470729

Bug ID: 470729
Summary: KF6-based QML apps throw MobileCursor errors
Classification: Frameworks and Libraries
   Product: frameworks-qqc2-desktop-style
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Keywords: qt6
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdelibs-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: n...@kde.org
CC: ahiems...@heimr.nl, k...@davidedmundson.co.uk,
m...@ratijas.tk, noaha...@gmail.com, notm...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

On Qt6, QML apps with editable text fields output these errors on the console:

file:///home/nate/kde/usr6/lib64/qml/org/kde/desktop/private/MobileCursor.qml:33:13:
Unable to assign [undefined] to bool
file:///home/nate/kde/usr6/lib64/qml/org/kde/desktop/private/MobileCursor.qml:33:13:

file:///home/nate/kde/usr6/lib64/qml/org/kde/desktop/private/MobileCursor.qml:33:13:

file:///home/nate/kde/usr6/lib64/qml/org/kde/desktop/private/MobileCursor.qml:33:13:
Unable to assign [undefined] to bool
file:///home/nate/kde/usr6/lib64/qml/org/kde/desktop/private/MobileCursor.qml:33:13:
Unable to assign [undefined] to bool

The issue is trivially reproducible by launching `elisa`, or `plasma-discover`
in a terminal window and focusing a text field.

The problem is here:
https://invent.kde.org/frameworks/qqc2-desktop-style/-/blob/master/org.kde.desktop/private/MobileCursor.qml#L33

visible: MobileTextActionsToolBar.shouldBeVisible

MobileTextActionsToolBar is a singleton accessed from the same directory, hence
this file has no import line. And that shouldn't be required, right? And yet it
can't find the singleton, and then visible: falls back to true, and then you
see the mobile text toolbar too.

Apparently, such flags already exist. Konsole's CMakeLists.txt has those lines:

[LabPlot2] [Bug 470727] New: All undo history is lost after saving

2023-06-06 Thread João Figueiredo
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=470727

Bug ID: 470727
Summary: All undo history is lost after saving
Classification: Applications
   Product: LabPlot2
   Version: 2.10.0
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: alexander.se...@web.de
  Reporter: jf.mun...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
All undo history is lost after saving the project. This is very dangerous
because it effectively means the history only lasts as long as the period
between autosaves; if you accidentally delete something and it autosaves right
after, it's lost forever.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open a project
2. Change something
3. Save the project
4. Try to undo the change

OBSERVED RESULT
You can't undo it.

EXPECTED RESULT
You should be able to undo it. The undo history should persist in the same
session between saves.
Maybe there could even be an option to save it within the project file itself,
so it's always available across sessions.

Per that web page the free tier of API service is limited to 5 API requests per
minute and 500 requests per day. This could made it difficult to "update all
prices" in KMM. However it would probably work for updating a few securities at
a time.

Thanks!
MemoryHigh=50% has worked somewhat: Now, balooctl monitor shows me a list of
the files it is indexing. But it does seem to index the full partitions again
and again. Looks like I am affected from both problems, the memory limit and
the btrfs issue.

Unbelievable that this bug on btrfs systems was first reported in 2018! O.o
Don’t KDE devs use modern file systems? Dear god, what a massive unnecessary
power consumption over all those users over all those years.

[okular] [Bug 470724] Okular can't save .cbz files as .okular on Windows

2023-06-06 Thread Archenoth
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=470724

Created attachment 159506
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=159506&action=edit
A minimal cbz that triggers the bug

Oh!
I actually figured out another important factor when trying to make a minimal
test file!
It seems to only break when the filename has non-english characters in it

So a workaround currently is to rename your files to only have ASCII filenames

Also, the PDF I tested earlier did not have any non-ascii characters in it, and
when I tried it with one that did, Okular actually still emits a file that
isn't empty, but still fails to reopen it

So this might actually be the intersection of two distinct problems, one with
the comic book format, and one with file handling on Windows in general maybe?

[Haruna] [Bug 470725] New: Haruna does not automatically pick up the external subtitle file in the same folder as the mkv

2023-06-06 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=470725

Bug ID: 470725
Summary: Haruna does not automatically pick up the external
subtitle file in the same folder as the mkv
Classification: Applications
   Product: Haruna
   Version: 0.11.1
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: generic
  Assignee: georgefb...@gmail.com
  Reporter: sunsp...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
If there is a video file named video.mkv without an internal subtitle packaged
into it and the folder also contains a file named video.srt, Haruna does not
automatically load video.srt and make it available to the player's track
selectors. It is required for the user to manually go through the menu and then
the external file portal dialog to select the subtitle file before it becomes
available.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Play an mkv video without subtitles in the mkv but have a srt file in the
same folder as the mkv named the same.

OBSERVED RESULT
No subtitle track is available.

EXPECTED RESULT
The external srt file named the same as the video should have been
automatically picked up and loaded without requiring user intervention to
select the file by hand.

[okular] [Bug 470724] New: Okular can't save .cbz files as .okular on Windows

2023-06-06 Thread Archenoth
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=470724

Bug ID: 470724
Summary: Okular can't save .cbz files as .okular on Windows
Classification: Applications
   Product: okular
   Version: 23.04.0
  Platform: Microsoft Windows
OS: Microsoft Windows
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR

Created attachment 159505
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=159505&action=edit
The empty .okular file emitted from attempting to save a cbz file under Windows

SUMMARY
When attempting to save a .cbz file with annotations on Windows 11 as an
.okular file, the resulting file is blank (attached)

I can also confirm that following the same steps on Linux with the same version
of Okular and the same .cbz succeeds as expected, as does saving a .pdf as an
.okular file on Windows

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open a .cbz in Okular on Windows
(If you don't have one, zipping some PNGs and renaming the .zip to a .cbz
should do the trick!)
2. File -> Save As, and save as an .okular file

OBSERVED RESULT
An empty .okular file is produced

EXPECTED RESULT
An .okular file containing the saved document is produced, along with
annotations and other things like that!

I think i figured out what's happening. If i open this file on VLC, it will try
to add "#EXTM3U" to the playlist and give an error, even though this is not a
filename but just some metadata. Since Elisa uses VLC as the backend (which was
the worst decision ever, but i digress), it can't reproduce my playlist.

[Haruna] [Bug 470723] New: Haruna does not pick up the audio track with youtube-dl

OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal

SUMMARY
Regular video files play with audio, but if one attempts to use the youtube-dl
functionality of Haruna, only the video and subtitle tracks are available, not
audio. No audio track is listed as present.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Provide Haruna with any youtube url to play.

OBSERVED RESULT
Video plays in silence.

EXPECTED RESULT
Video to play with sound.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Haruna settings for youtube-dl has not been changed from the default of custom
"bestvideo+bestaudio/best". Not sure if this is literally youtube-dl, but if
so, youtube-dl is defunct and starting to break and this should be changed
instead to yt-dlp: https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp

> Maik

Thank you for clarifying some things; your screen cast does help and I
understand it better. I find it’s less intuitive to copy coordinates and then
paste them rather than pin the image like other software does (drag and drop is
less precise).
It also shows that some things evolved between v. 7.* and 8.0.0.
But if one needs a video, it still means the interface is unintuitive.
For example, you pasted your coordinates on the left. As I said, since the
coordinate edit fields are on the right, that’s where I used to paste my data.
The Paste coordinates option still doesn’t work there; it only works field by
field.
Interesting that you pasted your data as latitude longitude in degrees,
whereas when I copy coordinates in digiKam they are formatted as 2° 47'
41,4"E, 48° 20' 40,3"N
Minor annoyances:
Why are two Apply buttons in addition to the Close button that will ask to
apply anyway?
Who needs a compass when there is no way to turn the map?
Who needs the speed gauge and itinerary calculator?
What’s the purpose of having two maps shown at the same time?
Copy reference URL: “geo” is still broken.

It feels that I’m repeating myself a lot here. I hope this answers your
question on what to remove or to repair. Thanks for considering it.

[Haruna] [Bug 470722] New: Subtitle font size keeps resetting

2023-06-06 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=470722

Bug ID: 470722
Summary: Subtitle font size keeps resetting
Classification: Applications
   Product: Haruna
   Version: 0.11.1
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: generic
  Assignee: georgefb...@gmail.com
  Reporter: sunsp...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
When starting a video in Haruna, it does not remember the previously set size
in configure and displays the size as "55" but if you hit the up or down arrow
it will suddenly display much larger and returning to 55 is not the erroneous
size the video started out playing.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Start a video in Haruna
2. Configure>subtitles, up or down arrow on subtitle size

OBSERVED RESULT
Subtitles are not the size the dialog box is when started, and also using the
arrows changes to a significantly different size afterward even when returning
to the original displayed size.

EXPECTED RESULT
1) For Haruna to remember the size set in configure and not change it
2) For Haruna to display at the correct scaled size

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

Qt Version: 5.15.6
Kernel Version: 5.13.0-valve36-1-neptune (64-bit)

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I use font scaling 150% (so X logical dpi is 144).

Another suggestion (also viable for me as a Gentoo Linux user) would be a
compile-time make or CFLAG to disable compilation of the plugin.

.m3u8 file that Elisa can't play.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Rip a music CD using Exact Audio Copy, following this guide:
https://flemmingss.com/perfect-cd-ripping-to-flac-with-exact-audio-copy/
...except that i choose to create a .m3u UFT8 file with extended information.
2. Move the files into the library directory.
3. Scan for new songs, none are found.
4. Try to manually open the .m3u8 playlist by dragging and dropping it into the
playlist panel. No success either.

OBSERVED RESULTS
1. Scanning for new music does not work.
2. Trying to manually open the .m3u8 file results in this error message:
"Failed to load some tracks. Make sure that they have not been removed or
renamed."

EXPECTED RESULT
1. The album and its songs should be found by Elisa.
2. The playlist should open without errors.

[dolphin] [Bug 470538] Possible file sorting issue

2023-06-06 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=470538

--- Comment #2 from advice2...@protonmail.com ---
@Nate Graham
Thank you for your response and for confirming.
No problem I can make that submit for Plasma as well but before I do I just
want to get on the same page because I was not aware of the fact that two
different sorting systems are applied, although makes sense because Dolphin
does have a sort option in settings.
Anyways when I refer to Plasma, the items you mention are included but also
what about things like the "open" and "save as" windows that Plasma uses for
programs? Although they have a similar look to Dolphin, I was assuming these
were part of Plasma itself, do you know where those are coming from?
I will wait for an answer from you or other members before I make that submit
so I can include that information.

A quick side note, I imagine you are quite busy but maybe you would be able to
answer this question about sorting I posted here
https://discuss.kde.org/t/how-does-plasma-achieve-natural-sorting-of-files/1807
Only reason I am asking you is that you mentioned / knew about the fact that
two sorting systems were being used, figured maybe you might know the answer.
Thanks again for taking the time to confirm my findings.

OK, so there already *was* a way to manage SSH connections in a graphical
interface (albeit not perfect).
>From my point of view, this approach only lacked the possibility to separate
the connections into groups/categories, else it was quite viable (and less
error-prone than the current plugin approach). So a (presumably) lightweight
CSS update to the Konsole Profiles widget could have achieved much of the same
effect the sshmanager plugin strives for.

I still do not understand how the profile hack people were using to manage SSH
lead to the intrusive approach that was taken with the plugin. Even if there
was a general need for a SSH plugin, why choose to make it compulsory for all
Konsole users and even make it parse the command line (which, in my opinion,
was a less than wise design choice)? After all, Konsole is a TERMINAL emulator,
not a SHELL. As such, it should respond only to defined control/escape
sequences, and nothing else.

> I do understand your concerns and I plan to implement a way to disable /
> unload plugins in the future,

I would very, very much appreciate that! But using that approach would require
writing an entire plugin manager for Konsole, which seems rather unlikely to
happen (given that there are no more than two "plugins" at the moment). So I
would rather suggest a flag to be stored in the global section of
konsolesshconfig, which should tell the plugin whether to be active or not:

[Global plugin config]
manageProfile=false
-> enablePlugin=true|false

> *I* ould personally accept a patch that allows to unload plugins (such the
> one in kate) so people can use the plugins if they want, and not being
> forced to.

I have no meaningful experience in graphical widget frameworks more recent than
BorlandC and MFC. But I will try to support any of your efforts to remedy the
current situation by all means available to me.

Best /m

Summary: Manually set coordinates are not preserved across
launches of kstars
Classification: Applications
   Product: kstars
   Version: 3.6.5
  Platform: Ubuntu
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: mutla...@ikarustech.com
  Reporter: a...@randomuseless.info
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

If RA and dec are manually input using "Pointing -> Set Coordinates Manually".
It goes to the location properly. If kstars is then quit and reopened, it goes
to some oddball RA and dec different from what was entered. In addition, The
HiPS images don't display properly until a new location is entered. In
versions before 3.6, the code would start up with the map centered on your
previously entered RA and dec. This was a feature I used extensively. If
"Pointing -> Find Object..." is used instead, it works as one would expect
without error.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Start kstars
2. Goto "Pointing -> Find Object..." and enter an object name. e.g. M 61 and
hit "OK". The display will center on M 61.
3. quit kstars
4. Start kstars. The display will be centered on M 61 as it was when the
program was quit.
5. goto "Pointing -> Set Coordinates Manually...". The dialog will already
contain the coordinates of M61 so simply click "OK". The display will not
change since it's pointing at the same location.
6. quit kstars
7. Start kstars. The map will be mostly black with some flashing junk from
HiPS. Zooming out very far may show some stars in part of the sky. Looking at
"Pointing -> Set Coordinates Manually..." will show different coordinates than
those for M61.
8. Either "Pointing -> Find object..." or "Pointing -> Set Coordinates
Manually..." can be used to select a location and the display will go back to
normal.

OBSERVED RESULT

When restarting after manually entering a coordinate, the sky map will be
centered in the wrong location and the HiPS image of the sky will be messed up.

EXPECTED RESULT

The sky map should be centered on he coordinate entered in the previous
session.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

Note this fails the same way under both MacOS and Ubuntu.
Windows:
macOS: 12.6.5
Linux/KDE Plasma: Ubuntu 22.04.2 LTS
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: I'm using fvwm on the Linux box but it happens on the Mac
too, so probably not important
KDE Frameworks Version:
Qt Version: 5.15.3? (linux), no idea on the Mac

Jack,
Thanks for the quick response on the formatting. You can request a free key for
KMM at:

https://www.alphavantage.co/support/#api-key

which could be embedded into a new "Alphavantge Quote" to be added to the
online quotes option in the program let me know if it works out.

Off the top of my head (no testing yet) the regex for price could be '"05.
price": "(\d+.\d+)"' (without the single quotes) and the date '07. latest
trading day": "(\d{4,4}-\d{2,2}-\d{2,2}"' with the date format '%y %m %d'.
What is within parens becomes the value and other characters match literally.
\d is a digit and {x,y} says the range of times to match.

At some point, I'll see if alphavantage would assign a key KMM could
distribute, but I suspect not. It might be possible to add this source with a
missing key, and with instructions on how to obtain and use your own key.

I started using an AlphaVantage API (free API key) and I am able to retrieve
values using the web call. My only issue is that I can’t decipher how to
extract the prices into KMyMoney.

Here is a sample call provided by them and the response. If someone can help on
how to extract the price and date would be appreciated.
