[digikam] [Bug 459163] Geolocation Editor difficult to use
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=459163 --- Comment #19 from Maik Qualmann --- Well, the actual map view comes from the program Marble, which is quite well known in the Linux world. Unfortunately, the development is somewhat dormant at the moment. The context menu above the map also comes from Marble here. We disabled it a long time ago, but users wanted us to enable it again to be able to measure distances etc. The compass can be disabled if they don't want it, like any other overlay item that could be enabled. The Geo:Url function works, it copies the location to the Clipboard. This Geo:Url is understood by the digiKam "paste" function as well as by other programs that support this format. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=470566 --- Comment #47 from Maik Qualmann --- Your log doesn't show any errors. However, it seems that you have not activated the metadata option "Rescan file when files are modified". This is important in your case, however, so that a changed file is completely rescanned. This also works with the ExifTool "-P" option, since the file size is always changing. Then they probably pressed F5. And this is where many people have a misunderstanding. The "F5" function would find new items and always recreates all thumbnails. However, it does not update changed files. To re-read changed files Menu::Album->Reread Metadata From Files - or - Menu::Item->Reread Metadata From File. Maik -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[frameworks-baloo] [Bug 470665] Baloo indexes for hours, daily
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=470665 --- Comment #9 from tagwer...@innerjoin.org --- (In reply to Maximilian Böhm from comment #8) > ... MemoryHigh=50% has worked somewhat: Now, balooctl monitor shows me a list > of > the files it is indexing ... That's good. One step along the way... > ... But it does seem to index the full partitions > again and again. Looks like I am affected from both problems, the memory > limit and the btrfs issue ... There is a draft Merge Request here: https://invent.kde.org/frameworks/baloo/-/merge_requests/131 That proposes a "lightweight" fix, it's nice in that it would not force a purge and reindex (the internal ID's that baloo uses are still 32 bit) but it isn't a comprehensive solution. > ... Don’t KDE devs use modern file systems? ... I'm not sure I'm the right person to answer that one :-) I imagine though, if you are developing, you want a completely stable, reliable base system. No extra unknowns. You would then test in different environments. What interesting is that earlier the BTRFS issue initially caught mostly OpenSUSE users, that system set up a lot of subvolumes and ran into trouble. Fedora, also with BTRFS, only rarely showed problems historically but that's changed with recent releases. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

The problem is here: https://invent.kde.org/frameworks/qqc2-desktop-style/-/blob/master/org.kde.desktop/private/MobileCursor.qml#L33 visible: MobileTextActionsToolBar.shouldBeVisible MobileTextActionsToolBar is a singleton accessed from the same directory, hence this file has no import line. I actually figured out another important factor when trying to make a minimal test file! It seems to only break when the filename has non-english characters in it So a workaround currently is to rename your files to only have ASCII filenames Also, the PDF I tested earlier did not have any non-ascii characters in it, and when I tried it with one that did, Okular actually still emits a file that isn't empty, but still fails to reopen it So this might actually be the intersection of two distinct problems, one with the comic book format, and one with file handling on Windows in general maybe? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[digikam] [Bug 459163] Geolocation Editor difficult to use
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=459163 --- Comment #18 from maison --- (In reply to Maik Qualmann from comment #17) > Here is a screencast showing how to paste coordinates. > > https://drive.google.com/file/d/1neXbiHV6anwPuka5sKTGNWxbDhRsWxE6/ > view?usp=sharing > > And on your last comment, I don't see any features that are useless or that > we should remove. > > Maik Thank you for clarifying some things; your screen cast does help and I understand it better. I find it’s less intuitive to copy coordinates and then paste them rather than pin the image like other software does (drag and drop is less precise). It also shows that some things evolved between v. 7.* and 8.0.0. But if one needs a video, it still means the interface is unintuitive. For example, you pasted your coordinates on the left. As I said, since the coordinate edit fields are on the right, that’s where I used to paste my data. The Paste coordinates option still doesn’t work there; it only works field by field. Interesting that you pasted your data as latitude longitude in degrees, whereas when I copy coordinates in digiKam they are formatted as 2° 47' 41,4"E, 48° 20' 40,3"N Minor annoyances: Why are two Apply buttons in addition to the Close button that will ask to apply anyway? Who needs a compass when there is no way to turn the map? Who needs the speed gauge and itinerary calculator? What’s the purpose of having two maps shown at the same time? Copy reference URL: “geo” is still broken. It feels that I’m repeating myself a lot here. I hope this answers your question on what to remove or to repair. Thanks for considering it. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Move the files into the library directory. 3. Scan for new songs, none are found. 4. Try to manually open the .m3u8 playlist by dragging and dropping it into the playlist panel. No success either. OBSERVED RESULTS 1. Scanning for new music does not work. 2. Trying to manually open the .m3u8 file results in this error message: "Failed to load some tracks. Make sure that they have not been removed or renamed." EXPECTED RESULT 1. The album and its songs should be found by Elisa. 2. The playlist should open without errors. +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Manjaro Linux KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.106.0 Qt Version: 5.15.9 Kernel Version: 6.1.31-2-MANJARO (64-bit) Graphics Platform: X11 Processors: 4 × Intel® Core™ i5-7400 CPU @ 3.00GHz Memory: 7.6 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB/PCIe/SSE2 +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION mpv Media Player had no problem to open my playlist. Elisa can play the FLAC files just fine if i open them manually. Also, I've double checked all of the filenames and none of them are different from the ones listed inside the .m3u8 file. I've attached my .m3u8 file just in case. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[dolphin] [Bug 470538] Possible file sorting issue
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=470538 --- Comment #2 from advice2...@protonmail.com --- @Nate Graham Thank you for your response and for confirming. No problem I can make that submit for Plasma as well but before I do I just want to get on the same page because I was not aware of the fact that two different sorting systems are applied, although makes sense because Dolphin does have a sort option in settings. Anyways when I refer to Plasma, the items you mention are included but also what about things like the "open" and "save as" windows that Plasma uses for programs? Although they have a similar look to Dolphin, I was assuming these were part of Plasma itself, do you know where those are coming from? I will wait for an answer from you or other members before I make that submit so I can include that information. A quick side note, I imagine you are quite busy but maybe you would be able to answer this question about sorting I posted here https://discuss.kde.org/t/how-does-plasma-achieve-natural-sorting-of-files/1807 Only reason I am asking you is that you mentioned / knew about the fact that two sorting systems were being used, figured maybe you might know the answer. Thanks again for taking the time to confirm my findings. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[konsole] [Bug 461085] CR: Please add an option to disable the SSH manager plugin
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=461085 --- Comment #11 from Markus Wernig --- (In reply to tcanabrava from comment #10) > I did indeed consider a less intrusive way to develop the plugin, but then > I realized that a lot of people that answered my request to "how do you use > profiles in konsole" were using the *profile* manager as a way to interact > with different SSH connections (some of them having over 20 - 40 profiles > that differed only in name and the ssh command. This made me think that a > plugin *for* ssh was needed. OK, so there already *was* a way to manage SSH connections in a graphical interface (albeit not perfect). >From my point of view, this approach only lacked the possibility to separate the connections into groups/categories, else it was quite viable (and less error-prone than the current plugin approach). So a (presumably) lightweight CSS update to the Konsole Profiles widget could have achieved much of the same effect the sshmanager plugin strives for. I still do not understand how the profile hack people were using to manage SSH lead to the intrusive approach that was taken with the plugin. Even if there was a general need for a SSH plugin, why choose to make it compulsory for all Konsole users and even make it parse the command line (which, in my opinion, was a less than wise design choice)? After all, Konsole is a TERMINAL emulator, not a SHELL. As such, it should respond only to defined control/escape sequences, and nothing else. > I do understand your concerns and I plan to implement a way to disable / > unload plugins in the future, I would very, very much appreciate that! But using that approach would require writing an entire plugin manager for Konsole, which seems rather unlikely to happen (given that there are no more than two "plugins" at the moment). So I would rather suggest a flag to be stored in the global section of konsolesshconfig, which should tell the plugin whether to be active or not: [Global plugin config] manageProfile=false -> enablePlugin=true|false > *I* ould personally accept a patch that allows to unload plugins (such the > one in kate) so people can use the plugins if they want, and not being > forced to. I have no meaningful experience in graphical widget frameworks more recent than BorlandC and MFC. But I will try to support any of your efforts to remedy the current situation by all means available to me. Best /m -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kstars] [Bug 470720] New: Manually set coordinates are not preserved across launches of kstars
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=470720 Bug ID: 470720 Summary: Manually set coordinates are not preserved across launches of kstars Classification: Applications Product: kstars Version: 3.6.5 Platform: Ubuntu OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: mutla...@ikarustech.com Reporter: a...@randomuseless.info Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY If RA and dec are manually input using "Pointing -> Set Coordinates Manually". It goes to the location properly. If kstars is then quit and reopened, it goes to some oddball RA and dec different from what was entered. In addition, The HiPS images don't display properly until a new location is entered. In versions before 3.6, the code would start up with the map centered on your previously entered RA and dec. This was a feature I used extensively. If "Pointing -> Find Object..." is used instead, it works as one would expect without error. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Start kstars 2. Goto "Pointing -> Find Object..." and enter an object name. e.g. M 61 and hit "OK". The display will center on M 61. 3. quit kstars 4. Start kstars. The display will be centered on M 61 as it was when the program was quit. 5. goto "Pointing -> Set Coordinates Manually...". The dialog will already contain the coordinates of M61 so simply click "OK". The display will not change since it's pointing at the same location. 6. quit kstars 7. Start kstars. The map will be mostly black with some flashing junk from HiPS. Zooming out very far may show some stars in part of the sky. Looking at "Pointing -> Set Coordinates Manually..." will show different coordinates than those for M61. 8. Either "Pointing -> Find object..." or "Pointing -> Set Coordinates Manually..." can be used to select a location and the display will go back to normal. OBSERVED RESULT When restarting after manually entering a coordinate, the sky map will be centered in the wrong location and the HiPS image of the sky will be messed up. EXPECTED RESULT The sky map should be centered on he coordinate entered in the previous session. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Note this fails the same way under both MacOS and Ubuntu. Windows: macOS: 12.6.5 Linux/KDE Plasma: Ubuntu 22.04.2 LTS (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: I'm using fvwm on the Linux box but it happens on the Mac too, so probably not important KDE Frameworks Version: Qt Version: 5.15.3? https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=469431 Jack changed: What|Removed |Added CC||ostroffjh@users.sourceforge ||.net --- Comment #16 from Jack --- Off the top of my head (no testing yet) the regex for price could be '"05. price": "(\d+.\d+)"' (without the single quotes) and the date '07. latest trading day": "(\d{4,4}-\d{2,2}-\d{2,2}"' with the date format '%y %m %d'. What is within parens becomes the value and other characters match literally. \d is a digit and {x,y} says the range of times to match.
