How are you managing to do that? The about dialog is modal, so you cannot close
Krita without closing the dialog first.

[KScreen] [Bug 472732] OSD and applet: "Switch to laptop screen" action causes external screen to become disabled as expected for a moment, then it turns on again

> instead of using the GUI?

Hi,
I use the Kcreen-Doctor tool to control the external screen and find the
following two phenomena:

1. Use the command "Kcreen-Doctor output.2.disable output.1.enable". At this
time, switch to "Switch to Laptop Screen" mode, Then use "OSD" to switch the
laptop mode and other modes.

2. Use the command "Kcreen-Doctor output.2.enable output.nable", At this
time,both screens are displayed normally, but the laptop screen mode cannot be
switched, and a phenomenon like attachment video appears.

kcms/soundtheme: Better compact mode calculation

Slightly adjust the width calculation to position the demo
play button on top and avoid edge cases (ex Noto Sans 11pt).

This mode is however a small workaround as we cannot set a
minimum size for the cards. Ideally, it can be dropped if
we adopt non-resizable cards for the KCMs.

   Version: master
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED

NOTE: If you are reporting a crash, please try to attach a backtrace with debug
symbols.
See
https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports
***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Put an Analog Clock widget on your Plasma desktop
2. run `notify-send --urgency=critical "I'm sticky"` to get a notification on
the screen that won't time out
3. Move the widget, either by clicking-and-holding it and then dragging it, or
by entering edit mode and then dragging it

OBSERVED RESULT
The persistent notification moves up to the top-left corner of the screen and
stays there. All notifications that arrive after that also go there. This
happens until plasmashell is restarted.

EXPECTED RESULT
Notifications don't move

[plasmashell] [Bug 416128] Seekbar on applet doesn't respond to scrolling

2023-08-02 Thread Noah Davis
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=416128

Noah Davis  changed:

--- Comment #1 from Noah Davis  ---
As of version 5.26.1, it seems that the slider does react to scrolling, but the
position is almost immediately reset back to the current media position rather
than changing the media position to the slider's position. This sometimes
causes a slight stuttering effect in the audio.

The behavior is defined in
plasma-workspace/applets/mediacontroller/package/contents/ui/ExpandedRepresentation.qml.
There are a few key parts to be aware of when fixing this bug.

The `seekSlider` has its value set to the position of the MPRIS2 source
whenever the MPRIS2 source position changes, unless the slider is currently
being pressed. `disablePositionUpdate` is a bool property defined in
expandedRepresentation. It is used to keep the slider from doing things when
the MPRIS2 source info changes.

```
onPositionChanged: {
// we don't want to interrupt the user dragging the slider
if (!seekSlider.pressed && !keyPressed) {
// we also don't want passive position updates
disablePositionUpdate = true
// Slider refuses to set value beyond its end, make sure "to" is
up-to-date first
seekSlider.to = length;
seekSlider.value = position
disablePositionUpdate = false
}
}
```

`seekTimer` can also change the value periodically and block slider input as
long as the slider is not pressed.

```
PlasmaComponents3.Slider { // Slider
id: seekSlider
// [snip]
value: 0
// [snip]
onMoved: {
if (!disablePositionUpdate) {
// delay setting the position to avoid race conditions
queuedPositionUpdate.restart()
}
}
// [snip]
Timer {
id: seekTimer
interval: 1000 / expandedRepresentation.rate
repeat: true
running: root.isPlaying && root.expanded && !keyPressed && interval > 0
&& seekSlider.to >= 100
onTriggered: {
// some players don't continuously update the seek slider position
via mpris
// add one second; value in microseconds
if (!seekSlider.pressed) {
disablePositionUpdate = true
if (seekSlider.value == seekSlider.to) {
retrievePosition();
} else {
seekSlider.value += 100
}
disablePositionUpdate = false
}
}
}
}
```

`queuedPositionUpdate` sets the value of the `seekSlider` as the MPRIS2
service's position 100ms after the timer is started.

```
Timer {
id: queuedPositionUpdate
interval: 100
onTriggered: {
if (position == seekSlider.value) {
return;
}
var service = mpris2Source.serviceForSource(mpris2Source.current)
var operation = service.operationDescription("SetPosition")
operation.microseconds = seekSlider.value
service.startOperationCall(operation)
}
}
```

In order to fix this without changing a lot, we may need to accumulate wheel
delta and then use it to set the slider's value or reset the accumulated delta
after a short delay.

Fascinating. I was under the impression that this situation could only arise on

I can reproduce this in Plasma 5.26.1. It's not the latest version, which I
can't use much right now, but it's not likely that things have changed much in
5.27. The issue is likely caused by the following code.

In plasma-workspace/libdbusmenuqt/dbusmenuimporter.cpp,
DBusMenuImporterPrivate:

```
void updateActionLabel(QAction *action, const QVariant &value)
{
QString text = swapMnemonicChar(value.toString(), '_', '&');
action->setText(text);
}
```

`swapMnemonicChar()` is defined in plasma-workspace/libdbusmenuqt/utils.cpp and
probably needs to "escape" the characters it is meant to swap.

Oh, I didn't know that. OpenSUSE is not one of my distros ;-)

Ok to keep the bug open, although the codec is available for me on another

Hello Maik
I have just tested 8.1.0 release, and the bug still remains.
digiKam crashes with .avif files in the source folder when scanning for new
items.
No crash when all .avif files are removed.

[kdevelop] [Bug 363237] Breakpoints (Breakpoints View) are not updated after removing/adding couple lines of code

2023-08-02 Thread Axel Kellermann
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=363237

--- Comment #7 from Axel Kellermann  ---
See my comment in the MR mentioned above:
https://invent.kde.org/kdevelop/kdevelop/-/merge_requests/147#note_89877

BreakpointModel already contains all the logic needed to resolve the issue.
What's missing is an appropriate event to react on. And as remarked by Igor, it
would probably also be a good idea to refactor the code in BreakpointModel a
bit to prevent a potential negative impact on performance.

Maybe one of the more senior KDE/KDevelop devs could have a look at my comment
in the MR and assess if my statement makes sense and how it could be
implemented.

I don't like the place of the month all that much, but it's just a 5 minute

I'm not sure if this is a bug, or rather a new feature request, but I too would
like to have the ability to adjust the size of the digital signature (or
ideally, have it auto-resize like Adobe does). When signing a document where
other users used Adobe PDF, signatures that were created by Okular are much
larger (they stand out like John Hancock's signature would!)

[konsole] [Bug 472934] New: Click between tabs or split windows refreshes view and displays size

2023-08-02 Thread Alex
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=472934

Bug ID: 472934
   Summary: Click between tabs or split windows refreshes view and
displays size
Classification: Applications
   Product: konsole
   Version: 23.04.3
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR

  Assignee: konsole-de...@kde.org

Video or random portions of konsole window highlighted when clicking in and out

SUMMARY
Strange refreshing / resizing behavior when clicking in and out of Konsole
window or between tabs or split windows.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Select between tabs or click away from Konsole window and then back in.
Clicking between split windows in a single tab also causes the same issue.

OBSERVED RESULT
Konsole window refreshes and displays a small message in the middle with window
size. This sometimes causes text to be randomly highlighted in the window as if
the mouse moved through it. That puts random stuff into middle click clipboard.

EXPECTED RESULT
Do not refresh the window or change/display its size.

[Welcome Center] [Bug 472691] Welcome center buttons don’t look and feel like buttons

2023-08-02 Thread Karl Ove Hufthammer

--- Comment #7 from Karl Ove Hufthammer ---
(In reply to Nate Graham from comment #6)

Just for the record, I was talking about the buttons on the *main* and
*category* pages in Discover, the ones showing the icon, name and description
of an application. They have a shadow and a nice hover effect (coloured
background based on the current highlight colour). At least for me, it makes
them look and feel clickable.

I think you’re talking about the other, similarly shaped, buttons on the
*application details* page in Discover. Yes, they look like the ones in the
welcome center. And to me, they don’t look or feely especially clickable. (The
button text is the only thing that really indicates they’re meant to be
clicked.)

Other KDE examples of ‘buttons’ with hover effect to indicate clickability:
application buttons on the task bar (the background colour is changed to the
highlight colour and the icons are made slightly brighter), other buttons on
the task bar (the icons are made slightly brighter), and the application
buttons on https://apps.kde.org/ (they rise from the page when you hover, and
they also have a shadow effect to lift them from the page).

Not sure what you mean, zypper is main package manager of openSUSE
Tumbleweed... and ffmpeg-6 was preinstalled, I just removed it and installed
again - reinstalled, just in case that would fix the issue.
