[kdeconnect] [Bug 472697] Open with Open on Connected Device via KDE Connect appears for all files in Dolphin
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=472697 Fabian Vogt changed: What|Removed |Added CC||fab...@ritter-vogt.de --- Comment #5 from Fabian Vogt --- > This also triggers KDE Connect when clicking on an unknown file format after > downloading in Chromium. IMO this is the biggest issue and I'm not sure whether it's solvable. We could add hacks in KIO and everywhere else to treat the fallback mimetype application/octet-stream as unknown even if there exists a handler, but this wouldn't fix it for applications not using KIO and also result in weird behaviour in that it has a handler, but can't open it. IMO the handler should be removed until a solution can be found. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=473927 Bug ID: 473927 Summary: plasmashell crashed when clicking Properties on a Firefox icon with an enviroment variable its the Program field Classification: Plasma Product: plasmashell Version: 5.27.7 Platform: Fedora RPMs OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: generic-crash Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: matt.fagn...@bell.net Target Milestone: 1.0 SUMMARY I'm running Plasma 5.27.7 on Wayland in a Fedora 39 KDE Plasma installation. I created a new icon for the upstream Firefox 117.0 by right-clicking on the desktop filling in the names, icon, and the program path. When I clicked on the new icon, FIrefox started on XWayland. I right-clicked on the Firefox icon, selected Properties, and added MOZ_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 to the Program field. When I clicked on the Firefox icon again, Firefox didn't start. I right-clicked on the Firefox icon, and selected Properties. plasmashell crashed and the screen went black for a second or so before it restarted. The journal showed errors like the following. This type of crash has happened each of several times I've tried to click on Properties with MOZ_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 to the Program field. I knew but forgot that MOZ_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 should be added to the Enviroment Variables field in Properties. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Boot a Fedora 39 KDE Plasma installation updated to 2023-8-29 with the updates-testing repo enabled 2. Log in to Plasma on Wayland 3. Right-click on the desktop background 4. Click Create New in the context menu 5. Click Link to Application 6. Select the Application tab 7. Enter MOZ_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 firefox in the Program field 8. Select OK 9. Right-click on the new Firefox icon 10. Select Properties I was using the upstream Firefox 117.0 which can be downloaded from https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/#product-desktop-release You can try using that instead if making a new icon for the Fedora firefox doesn't lead to the crash. The actual reason I tried exiftool backend in the first place (and upgraded digikam from version 7 to version 8) is because exiv was stripping some other tags (e.g. GPSDateTime), which stopped after upgrading Digikam -- I'll file a bug report for that if I notices. Actually I was wrong about exiftool stripping the tags -- at least on that photo exiftool preserves XMP tags so perhaps it is a digikam issue after all. I attached the metadata for the photo in the link above, before and after writing the metadata from digikam, with exiv and exiftool backends. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[Spectacle] [Bug 470791] Rectangular selection for vertical monitor orientation
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=470791 --- Comment #1 from john.f...@gmail.com --- Just more information regarding this. I recently upgraded my main monitor at home to a 1440p display. The secondary one is still 1080p. I just tried to use Spectacle today and it also exhibits the same issue. When taking a selection on the 1080p monitor I can see the whole display to make the selection, but when I take a selection on the 1440p display the I am given a 1080p box in the center of the screen and I cannot see the entire screen to make the selection. Therefore it seems like this issue is related to systems with multiple monitors that have unmatched resolutions. [isoimagewriter] [Bug 473925] New: Verify all images instead of only selected distro images
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=473925 Bug ID: 473925 Summary: Verify all images instead of only selected distro images Classification: Applications Product: isoimagewriter Version: unspecified Platform: Archlinux OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: j...@jriddell.org Reporter: gudvinr+...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY Currently, IIW only has conditions that cover small number of distros to verify images. However, some means of verification exist basically for every ISO you download. Usually, ISO comes with either %image name%.sha256 or (less frequently) %image name%.md5 file OR they post SHA256 somewhere on web page of download. >From what I see, IIW already has a flow to request SHA256 sum for image so that can be extended to all images. But instead of creating separate dialog, there could be optional field which might be used for that purpose if not empty. Or some sort of signature file detection based on image name could also be used to search files that come with ISO. [Elisa] [Bug 473871] Change permission to directories that are needed
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=473871 --- Comment #4 from Henning --- I am not sure how the Portal on Android works, but currently that is in many parts my way to go, its pretty awesome. But yes, I think to have a good UX about all this, Apps needing to manage things, it would require one privileged app, like a KDE portal UI, to manage the filesystem overrides. A dream of Apps launching systemsettings pages or even popups, and setting that seperately in a GUI. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[kmymoney] [Bug 379747] Stable documentation is not up to date
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=379747 --- Comment #8 from Jack --- I apparently forgot about this bug, but I can add some information. At this point, there has not been any further work on anything related to the 4.8 releases in a long time, and I doubt there will be. The manual in the 5.1 branch of git has been updated in several areas since this bug was filed, and there is a page in the handbook listing which chapters have and have not been updated, but is still not fully updated for 5.x. While there may be a 5.1.4 release, I do not plan on putting any further effort towards the documentation for 5.1. I have recently started a complete review of the handbook based on the code in master branch. I am about 1/3 of the way through a first pass. This can be viewed in the Handbook-5.2 branch of git. I am only pushing my updates when I have gone through several additional chapters. I am not initially pushing this to master branch, so the translators do not have to deal with multiple changes while I continue to make multiple repeat changes to some sections. The intent is that this will be ready about the same time master branch is ready for a release we have been calling 5.2 - some time later this year. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Pushed by ngraham into branch 'master'. containment/panel: fix some incorrectly ported plasmoid properties In this case, lowercase-p "plasmoid" was actually a local variable, so porting it to the uppercase version caused the variable to be ignored and instead we were referencing the data from the capital-P Plasmoid in the config poverlay--that is to say, from the panel itself. [policykit-kde-agent-1] [Bug 473720] Authentication dialog has a generic icon
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=473720 Nate Graham changed: What|Removed |Added CC||d...@kde.org, ||jgrul...@redhat.com, ||jrez...@redhat.com, ||n...@kde.org Version|unspecified |master Status|REPORTED|CONFIRMED Product|kde |policykit-kde-agent-1 Ever confirmed|0 |1 Component|general |general --- Comment #1 from Nate Graham --- Can confirm. I see the problem: the new auth dialog respects the icon set by the authentication action itself. However it looks like most of our actions use the `kauth-example` icon for this, which doesn't exist, so the Kirigami.Icon that tries to render it fails and falls back to the generic document icon. We would fix this in all of our kauth actions by setting appropriate icons. However in addition to the fact that this would be a lot of work, it would probably produce a subpar result since every auth dialog could have a different random icon. Really the only icon that actually makes sense here is a generic lock icon, and the simplest way to enforce this is to just hardcode the dialog to always show it. This appears to be what the old dialog was doing with the dialog-password icon. Let's do it again for the new one. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[valgrind] [Bug 473870] FreeBSD 14 applications fail early at startup
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=473870 --- Comment #1 from Paul Floyd --- First a quick overview of Valgrind startup. Each tool has 3 parts - the tool exe e.g. memcheck-amd64-freebsd - core preload vgpreload_core-amd64-freebsd.so - tool preload e.g. vgpreload_memcheck-amd64-freebsd.so Despite those shared libraries the tool does not link with anything. Generally the way that it 'links' with anything is to parse the debuginfo as files get mmap'd and then redirect any interesting functions. The tool is running when the preloads and the guest and dependent shared libraries get loaded so it can trigger from mmap system calls to do the debuginfo parsing, The exception to that is the tool itself. Obviously it can't trigger anything from its own mmap to memory. Instead it uses /proc (on Solaris and Linux) and sysctl KERN_PROC_VMMAP on FreeBSD. In order for the debuginfo parsing to be triggered it needs to see that a "standard" ELF binary has been loaded. Normally that means 3 ELF PT_LOAD segments for binaries built with GNU bfd-ld (RO, RX and RW) and 4 segments for binaries built with LLVM lld (RO, RX and 2xRW). The RO is ignored so really what it is looking for is either RX+RW or RX+2xRW. Since the Valgrind tools do not link with anything they don't have the extra RW PT_LOAD stuff like GOT-PLT. If it doesn't see that last RW segment there's no debuginfo reading and things start to go wrong. >From what I see 14/15 now have some optimization that allows the RW PT_LOAD to be marked as swap rather than mmap'd into memory. I've tried poking around, but I can't see anything in places I consider likely (rtld, mmap, lld). Details below. Here's the output for 13.2 paulf> objdump -p .in_place/memcheck-amd64-freebsd .in_place/memcheck-amd64-freebsd: file format elf64-x86-64-freebsd Program Header: PHDR off0x0040 vaddr 0x3840 paddr 0x3840 align 2**3 filesz 0x0188 memsz 0x0188 flags r-- LOAD off0x vaddr 0x3800 paddr 0x3800 align 2**12 filesz 0x000c44ac memsz 0x000c44ac flags r-- LOAD off0x000c44b0 vaddr 0x380c54b0 paddr 0x380c54b0 align 2**12 filesz 0x001af7cf memsz 0x001af7cf flags r-x LOAD off0x00273c80 vaddr 0x38275c80 paddr 0x38275c80 align 2**12 filesz 0x0a90 memsz 0x025dd010 flags rw- EH_FRAME off0x00093180 vaddr 0x38093180 paddr 0x38093180 align 2**2 filesz 0x69fc memsz 0x69fc flags r-- STACK off0x vaddr 0x paddr 0x align 2**0 filesz 0x memsz 0x flags rw- NOTE off0x01c8 vaddr 0x380001c8 paddr 0x380001c8 align 2**2 filesz 0x0030 memsz 0x0030 flags r-- And for 14.0 paulf@freebsd:~/valgrind $ objdump -p .in_place/memcheck-amd64-freebsd .in_place/memcheck-amd64-freebsd: file format elf64-x86-64 Program Header: PHDR off0x0040 vaddr 0x3840 paddr 0x3840 align 2**3 filesz 0x0188 memsz 0x0188 flags r-- LOAD off0x vaddr 0x3800 paddr 0x3800 align 2**12 filesz 0x000c26fc memsz 0x000c26fc flags r-- LOAD off0x000c2700 vaddr 0x380c3700 paddr 0x380c3700 align 2**12 filesz 0x001acbaf memsz 0x001acbaf flags r-x LOAD off0x0026f2b0 vaddr 0x382712b0 paddr 0x382712b0 align 2**12 filesz 0x0a90 memsz 0x025dcfe0 flags rw- EH_FRAME off0x000939a0 vaddr 0x380939a0 paddr 0x380939a0 align 2**2 filesz 0x69ec memsz 0x69ec flags r-- STACK off0x vaddr 0x paddr 0x align 2**64 filesz 0x memsz 0x flags rw- NOTE off0x01c8 vaddr 0x380001c8 paddr 0x380001c8 align 2**2 filesz 0x0030 memsz 0x0030 flags r-- On 14 procstat -v gives PID STARTEND PRT RES PRES REF SHD FLAG TP PATH 4649 0x3800 0x380c3000 r-- 195 2544 2 0 CN--- vn /home/paulf/valgrind/memcheck/memcheck-amd64-freebsd 4649 0x380c3000 0x38271000 r-x 430 2544 2 0 CN--- vn /home/paulf/valgrind/memcheck/memcheck-amd64-freebsd 4649 0x38271000 0x3a84f000 rw- 10 10 1 0 - sw 46490x8388210000x858801000 ---00 0 0 - gd 46490x8588010000x858821000 rw-11 1 0 ---D- sw 46490x85947a0000x85947b000 r-x11 25 0 - ph 4649

[krita] [Bug 473873] SVG scaling issue, transforming when it shouldn't and The grid snapping doesn't work
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=473873 --- Comment #2 from George Hayes --- I did some further testing. I imported the following svg. http://www.w3.org/2000/svg";> To get the correct scaling in the image it was done at 256 to get to the right size with the default 300pixels per inch and 0.43 print under scale image. But the positioning is off. If I change it to 128resolution and 1in 128 with and 128 height. It scales perfectly at and positions perfectly. However, if I then export that very same layer. It changes it to what is below which again is shrunk in size and transformed. The new svg it creates can't even be properly imported back in sized and positioned without work. My suggest is drop the transformation let the people printing it worry about that just focus on getting the point position and so on right. Don't worry about the DPI that is an issue for the people print software. http://www.w3.org/TR/2001/REC-SVG-20010904/DTD/svg10.dtd";> http://www.w3.org/2000/svg"; xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink"; xmlns:krita="http://krita.org/namespaces/svg/krita"; xmlns:sodipodi="http://sodipodi.sourceforge.net/DTD/sodipodi-0.dtd"; width="72pt" height="72pt" viewBox="0 0 72 72"> -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
