[neon] [Bug 478148] kwallet-pam missing?

2023-12-06 Thread Dennis
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=478148

Hi, thank you for your work.

I have the lib installed now:

kf6-kwallet-dev/jammy,now 5.245.0+p22.04+vunstable+git20231130.0327-0 amd64
[installed,automatic]
kf6-kwallet/jammy,now 5.245.0+p22.04+vunstable+git20231130.0327-0 amd64
[installed,automatic]
kwalletcli/jammy,now 3.03-1 amd64 [installed]
kwalletmanager/jammy,now 4:23.08.4+p22.04+vunstable+git20231206.2352-0 amd64
[installed]
libkwalletbackend5-5/jammy,now 5.113.0+p22.04+vunstable+git20231205.0358-0
amd64 [installed,automatic]
libpam-kwallet-common/jammy,jammy,jammy,now
4:5.27.10+p22.04+vunstable+git20231206.1224-0 all [installed,automatic]
libpam-kwallet6/jammy,now 4:5.27.10+p22.04+vunstable+git20231206.1224-0 amd64
[installed]
signon-kwallet-extension/jammy,now
4:23.08.4+p22.04+vunstable+git20231207.0023-0 amd64 [installed,auto-removable]

So that fixes kwallet-pam installed correct? Now I still have the issue that it
pops up a password login for kwallet.. But that might be an other issue? Should
I report that issue anew? Or change the subject of this issue?

   Version: 8.2.0
  Platform: Microsoft Windows
OS: Microsoft Windows

  Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org

SUMMARY
***
Hi,
I just updated Digikam to the 8.2.0 version and since I had a message about
moving my database I ignored it, then I had a lot of hangs when using Digikam
(it stopped responding regularly for some seconds), and then :

I can't add names to detected faces. As soon I type the first letter in the
field "Who is it", Digikam crashes.
***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Search for faces
2. Recognize faces
3. Display faces or move the cursor on a face to display the frame
4. Click on the field "Who is it"
5. Type a letter on the keyboard

OBSERVED RESULT
Digikam crashes without an error message (the window is closed)

EXPECTED RESULT
Type the name and confirm

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows: 10
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.245.0 ?
Qt Version: 6.6.0

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
If a person has been detected by the recognize tool and I just click on
Confirm, Digikam doesn't crash.

I didn't comment because Harald's comment was directed at people seeing the bug
due who weren't using a KVM switch, but I can still replicate some form of this
issue even being toggled away to a different system where the Plasma shell on
Wayland crashes on the latest version of Plasmashell on Fedora Kinoite Rawhide.
It no longer has a black background after 5 or minutes, but it will still
crash. Can happily provide the .kcrash if it means this issue still staying
open and being looked at in some form eventually after all the higher priority
6.0 stuff has come and gone

[plasmashell] [Bug 478192] New: Sometimes widgets activated by a global shortcut stop receiving the shortcut

2023-12-06 Thread Adam Fontenot
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=478192

Bug ID: 478192
Summary: Sometimes widgets activated by a global shortcut stop
receiving the shortcut
Classification: Plasma
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.90.0
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: adam.m.fontenot+...@gmail.com
CC: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk
  Target Milestone: 1.0

SUMMARY
This is specifically about the "Search" widget. I have it configured (right
click -> Configure Search) to be activated by a keyboard shortcut. This almost
always works, but sometimes (I haven't found a pattern so far) it will stop
receiving the shortcut.

When this happens, changing the shortcut to a different shortcut doesn't solve
the issue. Changing the shortcut works fine - but the new shortcut fails to
activate the Search widget.

I assume this also applies to other widgets that can be activated by keyboard
shortcuts. If someone can suggest something to test, I'm glad to add additional
information.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Put the Search widget in your panel.
2. Set a keyboard shortcut to activate the widget (I used the "Menu" key, which
I have Caps Lock bound to).
3. Use the shortcut frequently in your regular workflow. If / when it stops
working, change the shortcut to something else and see if that helps (I used a
Ctrl+letter that had no other mapping).

OBSERVED RESULT
At some point (?) the shortcut stops working. When this happens, changing the
shortcut does not allow activating the widget via keyboard. The widget remains
functional, responds to cursor clicks, and accepts text input when clicked.

As expected, having the "Menu" key bound to a global shortcut prevents it from
activating context menus in running programs. (This is desired behavior in my
use case.) When the issue occurs, KDE continues to intercept the Menu key and
it does not activate context menus.

Adding a second Search widget does not solve the problem.

`pkill -9 plasmashell` does not immediately fix the problem (plasmashell is
automatically restarted), but upon opening the Search widget settings, no
keyboard shortcut is set. Setting the keyboard shortcut to the Menu key fixes
the problem.

EXPECTED RESULT
Plasma never stops responding to the selected keyboard shortcut.

[frameworks-kio] [Bug 478191] New: Places as shown in Dolphin and elsewhere do not track the "Locations" set in System Settings

2023-12-06 Thread Adam Fontenot
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=478191

Bug ID: 478191
Summary: Places as shown in Dolphin and elsewhere do not track
the "Locations" set in System Settings
Classification: Frameworks and Libraries
   Product: frameworks-kio
   Version: 5.246.0
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Places
  Assignee: kio-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: adam.m.fontenot+...@gmail.com
CC: k...@privat.broulik.de, kdelibs-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
The "Locations" option in System Settings appears to set the locations of
well-known directories under the XDG user dirs pseudo-specification. On many
systems, these directories will be automatically created and tools that provide
shortcuts to these directories are generally expected to respect the location
specified in the user-dirs config file.

The KDE concept of "Places" is somewhat orthogonal, but by default contains
most of these same directories that users expect. For instance, the "Places"
shown in Dolphin include "Desktop", "Documents", "Downloads", "Music",
"Pictures", etc... which are all well-known and managed under the XDG standard.

Unfortunately, the "Places" don't pick up changes made to XDG user dir
locations, either through the System Settings or via other means. This violates
user expectations, and in fact I don't think it will be clear to most users
what the "Location" settings even do.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Move one of the XDG user dirs (I picked ~/Desktop) to a new location
(~/desktop).
2. Change the location specified for the directory in System Settings > System
> Session > Locations.
3. Attempt to open the corresponding "Place" via Dolphin (or krunner, the
Okular file picker, etc).

OBSERVED RESULT
An error appears that says "The file or folder ... does not exist")

EXPECTED RESULT
The new location opens in Dolphin.

Default "places" that are mapped to well-known user directories should be
updated by KDE when the corresponding user directories are updated by System
Settings or other XDG aware tools.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This works with no further effort in the GTK file picker.

[krita] [Bug 478190] New: Color Sampler doesn't always support Wrap Around Mode

2023-12-06 Thread Freya Lupen
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=478190

Bug ID: 478190
Summary: Color Sampler doesn't always support Wrap Around Mode
Classification: Applications
   Product: krita
   Version: 5.2.1
  Platform: Other
OS: Other
Status: REPORTED
  Keywords: regression
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Tools
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: penguinflyer2...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Using the Color Sampler with 'Sample All Visible Layers', or 'Sample Current
Layer' on a File Layer, doesn't work on the 'clones' of Wrap Around Mode, which
is a regression compared to 5.1.5.

The reason for this is those paint devices don't officially
supportWraproundMode(), so it was probably caused when fc5c698a added that
function. It seems to me that, for the purpose of color sampling, that check
should be bypassed somehow.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
Activate Wrap Around Mode, and use the Color Sampler with either:
A. 'Sample All Visible Layers'.
B. 'Sample Current Layer' on a File Layer.

OBSERVED RESULT
Picking on the wrapped copies of the image has no effect.

EXPECTED RESULT
Picking on the copies correctly picks the image's color.

Distribution (Platform): FreeBSD Ports

-- Information about the crash:
Korganizer crashes when deleting an event that is already registered in the
calendar.
Since the data itself has been deleted, this seems to be a problem after the
deletion process.

However, if you build net/akonadi-calendar on freebsd-ports with make
WITH_DEBUG=YES, the crash does not occur.

The problem is likely to be in libKPim5AkonadiCalendar.so.5.24.3 because the
situation is reproduced by replacing the so file below.

Bug ID: 478187
Summary: Add support for timed or dynamic wallpapers
Classification: Applications
   Product: systemsettings
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: kcm_wallpaper
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: jgayoso.sacrament...@simplelogin.com
CC: me...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

Add support in the wallpaper setting screen to use timed wallpapers. It would
be great if you could select a folder of wallpapers and then choose how long
you see one wallpaper before it transitions to the next and so on. Right now we
have something similar with the Slideshow feature, but since the transitions
are not tied to a specific time, but rather a certain duration after it's set,
it doesn't allow for the effect of and night and day wallpaper like I'm looking
for.

2023-12-06 Thread ratijas
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=478186

It seems like after cycling through the list of windows in task switcher and
returning back to the original window _without_ letting go of the modifier key
(Alt or Meta) in the process, the focus is not being fully returned to the
window. For example, header colors remain those of "inactive" window until you
really switch focus back and forth. This does not happen if the window switcher
is closed via Escape key.

Does really nobody else care about inconsistent behavior in the main task

I thought this would be a must for Plasma 6, as UX seems to be a priority, and
this is absolutely breaking it.

This suggests the extractor is failing on an epub. You might be able to find
which it it with
balooctl failed
or run
balooctl monitor
restart baloo with
systemctl --user restart kde-baloo
and watch the files as they are indexed,

If you can find which file it is, you can see if you can validate it.

[kdenlive] [Bug 478182] New: Stop forcing dependency on KF5Purpose

2023-12-06 Thread Michał Dec
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=478182

Bug ID: 478182
Summary: Stop forcing dependency on KF5Purpose
Classification: Applications
   Product: kdenlive
   Version: 23.08.3
  Platform: Gentoo Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Installation
  Assignee: j...@kdenlive.org
  Reporter: moog...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
***
When trying to update my system, I was denied it due to rejecting Wayland. I do
not use KDE, I use a different DE that doesn't have Wayland support yet.

I tried to edit the ebuild for 23.08.3, but it turns out that depending on
KF5Purpose is now mandatory, whether the user wants kdenlive with share support
or not. In fact - share support is force enabled. I don't even use share -
there is no benefit for me to have this forced upon me.
***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Use an Xorg-only DE.
2. Install kdenlive 23.08.03.

OBSERVED RESULT
The update will not happen.

EXPECTED RESULT
Should just install without share support.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Gentoo Linux, LXQt
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: irrelevant
KDE Frameworks Version: irrelevant
Qt Version: irrelevant

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I feel pretty terrible that my choice in video editing software is suddenly
trying to influence my choice in desktop environments, by proxy of forcing
dependency on a particular display server. Yeah yeah I know, iT's A pRoToCoL, I
heard it a million times.

Noticed same after installing Plasma 5.27.10/Frameworks 5.113.0 updates on a
Neon Virtualbox VM.
On second(?) time of opening the launcher menu/taskbar widget/krunner, also an
entry on the task bar appears, saying "Plasma"/"krunner" etc.

[systemsettings] [Bug 154804] Add option for alternative Drag&Drop behaviour

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=154804

+1 for prioritize it :D

So, the relevant bits are in:
KItemListController::dropEvent
https://invent.kde.org/system/dolphin/-/tree/master/src/kitemviews?ref_type=heads#L846
which on line 866 invokes
Q_EMIT itemDropEvent(receivingWidget->index(), event);
handled in DolphinView::slotItemDropEvent
https://invent.kde.org/system/dolphin/-/blob/master/src/views/dolphinview.cpp?ref_type=heads#L1321
which calls DolphinView::dropUrls
https://invent.kde.org/system/dolphin/-/blob/master/src/views/dolphinview.cpp?ref_type=heads#L1341
which calls DragAndDropHelper::dropUrls
https://invent.kde.org/system/dolphin/-/blob/master/src/views/draganddrophelper.cpp?ref_type=heads#L37
which calls KIO::drop
https://invent.kde.org/frameworks/kio/-/blob/master/src/widgets/dropjob.cpp#L641
which ends up calling DropJobPrivate::slotStart()
https://invent.kde.org/frameworks/kio/-/blob/master/src/widgets/dropjob.cpp#L240
which then calls DropJobPrivate::handleCopyToDirectory()
https://invent.kde.org/frameworks/kio/-/blob/master/src/widgets/dropjob.cpp#L414
for the actual work.
Thanks @Rob D for the old analysis.

Don't know how to implement the thing, totally lost in the code, if someone
wants to take a look, please do! I'm all for prioritizing it and make it into
Plasma 6!
@Nate this should help a bit, hopefully.

Sidenote: also please note that the DBus call to pass the zip extraction to Ark
is done in both DragAndDropHelper::dropUrls and in DropJobPrivate::slotStart(),
I think that's duplicate code

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=478181

Bug ID: 478181
Summary: Problem in rendering a specific Farsi/Arabic character
combination
Classification: Applications
   Product: konsole
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Arch Linux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: font

  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 163954

A screenshot of the problem

SUMMARY
The problem is that Konsole can't render and show " لا " which is combination
of " ل " and " ا " correctly.
It actually shows an extra space after it. Though, Kate (which uses Monospace
font, too) shows it correct.

I've attached a screenshot of Konsole (Wrong) and Kate (Correct).

OBSERVED RESULT
The character after لا should come without any extra space

EXPECTED RESULT
After لا some extra space is rendered and shown.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

KDE Frameworks Version: 5.112.0
Qt Version: 5.15.11
Kernel Version: 6.1.64-1-lts (64-bit)

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

It used to be shown correctly is some versions ago (I don't exactly remember
the version).

Git commit d88d5a45de215ebbd076476c830a1d9aaeda8794 by Harald Sitter.
Committed on 06/12/2023 at 21:38.
Pushed by sitter into branch 'master'.

kcms/region_language: repair pt_PT support

this broke because a hack was introduced to change the enumerated name
from pt to pt_PT but that then didn't have a mapping in the glibc table.

to mitigate this and future problems of the sort we now fill the entire
locale name into the mapping table in addition to the presumed language
name. e.g. the table now contains pt=>pt_PT.UTF-8 as well as
pt_PT=>pt_PT.UTF-8

Just wanted to reply with a quick update. When running the applications that I
talked about under Wayland using the flags:
--enable-features=UseOzonePlatform --ozone-platform=wayland

The artifacts seem to disappear. Makes me think that the problem has something
to do with XWayland.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE THIS:
1. Install Discord
2. Force Discord to run under Wayland by running with: discord
--enable-features=UseOzonePlatform --ozone-platform=wayland
