[neon] [Bug 477528] Audio Device & Port translations are not applied from upstream

2023-12-26 Thread Emir SARI
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=477528

Thanks for the tip! This fixed #477510, but #473708 is still valid.

For this bug, there is great improvement though, now the drop-down menu
contents are translated, however Line In-Out headers are still in English. They
are translated at the source[1]. Maybe there is a setting that I can purge,
that would help?

[Powerdevil] [Bug 348529] When screen is locked, turn off screen with a shorter timeout

Timeout of 10s

(In reply to Jakob Petsovits from comment #59)
> What timeout value are you using for when the screen is locked? There's
> currently Bug 476962 which causes this to break for locked timeouts of 0
> seconds. If it's not that, could you post reproduction steps?

I'm using a timeout value of 10s. Please see attached screenshot.

Reproduction steps are simply:

1. Set timeout to any value (10s, 30s, whatever).
2. Lock screen.
3. Wait for 10 seconds (or 30 or whatever is set).
4. Screen does not turn off.

But I should mention that I've noticed that screen does turn off randomly
(sometimes) when screen is locked. But it certainly does not happen at the
exact set timeout. It's completely random. Sometime it NEVER turns off.

This happens both on my laptop and desktop. Laptop is running Plasma 6.0 Beta 2
in KDE Neon. Desktop is running Plasma 6.0 Beta 1 in Arch Linux. Desktop

Hello,
trying to reproduce this bug I've created
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=479066 which is similar. I can reproduce
100% of the times on KaOS and Neon Unstable.
Since I'm sure they are the same bug (plasma doesn't crash for me), I created
another bug report. Feel free to mark it as duplicate if needed

I have the same issue.
The Oxygen yellow and also the Oxygen Red Ruby cursor becomes invisible after
installing on openSUSE Krypton (Plasma 6) and then logging out and back in.
The software is up-to-date.
The cursor worked at first but after logging out and back in it's not visible
and the only way to interact is to move the mouse until the invisible cursor
lands on and highlights the option I want to click on.

[plasmashell] [Bug 479066] New: Automatic exit from "Edit Mode" if changing panel height after adding a Widget

2023-12-26 Thread Enrico
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=479066

Bug ID: 479066
Summary: Automatic exit from "Edit Mode" if changing panel
height after adding a Widget
Classification: Plasma
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.91.0
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Panel
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: enric...@hotmail.com
CC: niccolo.venera...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: 1.0

SUMMARY
***
Hello,
the panel's EDIT MODE seems to crash when changing height after adding a
widget. I've tested it on both KaOS and Neon Unstable.
I found this bug trying to reproduce
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=477933
***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Right click on the panel -> Add Widget
2. Add a Widget to the panel, for example the Bluetooth
3. Keep the left widget bar opened
4. Right click on the panel > Enter Edit mode
5. Press the "+" button to increase panel height

OBSERVED RESULT
The dialog to increase/decrease panel height seems to crash as it's closed
immediately. Moreover, if you hover the mouse on the system tray icons you can
see that you're not in Edit mode.
If you right click again in the panel, you see "Exit edit mode". If you click
on Exit edit mode you actually ENTER edit mode again (hovering the system tray
icons you see "remove" and others edit commands)

EXPECTED RESULT
Changing height should not cause this problem

Thank you very much for checking. I've tested it on a Neon Unstable Live disc

I can't see users, probably because of the Live system, but I can create them.
New users appear in the list, so it seems to be some kind of KaOS packaging
issues. I'll report it to KaOS support channels.

But the issue is exactly the same, system monitor has the keyword "PROcess" and

package repository on Ubuntu 20.4, and it can't be git (master), because the

you will need to install language-pack-tr-base. it contains all the
translations that ubuntu strip out of the base packages and conglomerate
together into specific-language-packs.

neon will need to install the appropriate language-pack when a new language is
selected on the system and also at install if a language other than english is
used for the install

SUMMARY
On the Plasma Mobile Nightly branches of postmarketOS

shows up as a black screen.

I currently suspect that Qt 6 compiled with OpenGL ES2

triggers this issue.

Created attachment 164460
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=164460&action=edit
Screenshot of the "Trash" button when the user has vertical screens

The "trash" button is surprising. The UI shows "look at this rectangle, you can
click on me!". Then when the user clicks on it, "Surprise! There was an
invisible button that showed up as you moved the mouse cursor, and now your
virtual desktop is gone!". Hidden buttons are just bad UX.

This effect is even worse if the user has a 16:9 vertical screen. (i.e. If the
monitor is rotated 90°.) Take a look at the attached screenshot, the invisible
button takes up about 40% of the area. That's a very large danger zone. So
large that I'm always scared to click on it.

It is so annoying that this person came up with his own "solution" (that gets
overwritten on each update):
https://romangeber.com/blog/tech/kde-plasma-desktop-delete-button-fix

———

As alternatives, I would suggest having a drag-and-drop feature, so that we can
easily reorder the virtual desktops, and so that dragging to a trash area would
delete the virtual desktop. (And dragging from the "plus" area would create a
new virtual desktop.)

I can understand implementing drag-and-drop can be complicated, so I'm
proposing an alternative behavior that is easier to implement: If the user
deletes the label (i.e. clicks on the label and deletes the text), then the
virtual desktop is deleted. In other words, an empty label would trigger a
deletion. This sounds intuitive-ish, as the user is already deleting something;
while also being very hard to trigger by accident.

Whatever the solution, please get rid of that trash button.

2023-12-26 Thread Ernie Izdebski
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=479049

Bug ID: 479049
   Summary: feature request: more shortcuts
Classification: Applications
   Product: ghostwriter
   Version: 23.08.4
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: megan.con...@kdemail.net
  Reporter: i...@vivaldi.net
  Target Milestone: ---

Though I've generally had a positive experience by switching from VSCode &
document editors to Ghostwriter, the absence of some gestures is inconvenient.
Notably, what I would be happy to see:

- up arrow key could function like the Home button when the cursor is at the
first line of a file.
- down arrow key could function like the End button when the cursor is at the
last line of a file.
- `ctrl+[` & `ctrl+]` for indenting selected line(s). This differs from using
tab to indent the current line, as when nothing is selected, a tab inserts
spaces/tabs at the current cursor position; `ctrl+[` would instead indent from
the beginning of the line.
  - Though you can technically get Tab to work this way mid-line via
shift-select shenanigans, it is a needlessly hackier solution.

[dolphin] [Bug 479048] New: Firefox/notification opens new Dolphin instance instead of opening a tab in the existed one

2023-12-26 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=479048

Bug ID: 479048
Summary: Firefox/notification opens new Dolphin instance
instead of opening a tab in the existed one
Classification: Applications
   Product: dolphin
   Version: 23.08.3
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: sunwe...@gmail.com
CC: kfm-de...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
***
When you download something, for example in Firefox and try to open folder that
contains that file either from Firefox or by using widget in the notification
panel it opens up with one of 2 cases:
1) IF Dolphin is already opened AND doesn't have this folder already opened
prior to you opening it with methods described above THEN new Dolphin instance
is opened. Which is bad for reasons below.
2) IF Dolphin is already opened AND does have this folder already opened prior
to you opening it with methods described above THEN Dolphin is switching to
this tab. Which is good.

Why 1st case is bad? Not only it creates new instance as a minor inconvenience
but if you don't have Dolphin already opened with your favourite tabs that are
remembered the new Dolphin instance completely erases those. So you lose your
tabs.

***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
0. Open Dolphin, open few tabs, make sure they're remembered, close Dolphin
1. Open Firefox and download anything(the same page to html should be enough)
2a. Go to Firefox to open place where file was downloaded
2b. Click on the notification and choose Open Containing Folder

OBSERVED RESULT
Dolphin is opened with the right folder but previously remembered tabs
disappeared.

EXPECTED RESULT
Dolphin is opened with all previously remembered tabs. If tab doesn't exist it
opens new tab that leads to folder containing file.

Plasma 5.91.0 doesn't have this problem in
Fedora-KDE-Live-x86_64-Rawhide-20231226.n.0.iso. The resolution seems to be
changed automatically, as the splash screen icon like ...> moves left and
right. The desktop appeared normally.

SUMMARY
In digikam I can rename photos (with f2 in most places); I don't seem to be
able to showfoto, but think it would be useful.
In my case I've got a directory of photos gathered with an external scanner app
(rather than my camera that I'd use digikam for), and I want to go and rename
them to say what they are rather than the raw scanner-date-sequence.jpg; so I
was using showfoto to page through them, but don't see an obvious rename.

Can you please add a screenshot of your favorites? They should be visible in

I suspect the issue is that the system monitor is a favorite and thus it is
ranked higher, or at least it gets a boost. Though the code doesn't seem to
have changed in that regard from Plasma 5.27.

Since version 5.2.1 of Krita came out, there is a bug for my preferred color
palette. Whenever I close Krita, it switches to some default palette I don't
use or want, and I have to manually switch it to my preferred one. It's not
terribly time-consuming, but it is annoying, especially since the older
versions of Krita had no such thing. Saving and locking the palette I want do
nothing to resolve this issue.
